What is Dragon Ball: Broken Destiny?Dragon Ball: Broken Destiny is an ‘Alternate Future Alternate Universe’ Dragon Ball site set in the age 1164. 400 plus years after the end of Dragon Ball and Beginning of Z. We use the term ‘Alternate Future, Alternate Universe’ over just an alternate universe because until a few key changes occurred, the timeline was largely the same, and further because there is one BIG difference between Dragon Ball: Broken Destiny and your average Dragon Ball site.
These changes short and sweet are:
Piccolo Daimao was not defeated or sealed properly via the Evil Containment Wave. The act of attempting to seal him caused Master Muten Roshi, and Piccolo Daimao to both be greatly weakened, and Roshi only lived for seven more years- just long enough to see Son Gohan, Goku’s first born son, born and to make sure that the secrets of the Turtle School would be passed on by training Yamcha and Krillin heavily for those seven years. - When Raditz arrived, he was defeated but not killed by the Z-Fighters. The greater strength and skill from the training of Krillin and Yamcha helped Goku hold his own, and the surprise kidnapping of Gohan by Piccolo Junior caused Raditz to give up the fight and join forces with his brother to save his nephew, one of the last surviving Saiyans.
- Things further diverged from there, including an eventual wish on the Dragon Balls before Vegeta and Nappa arrived to relocate all the living Saiyans in the Universe to Planet Earth, and at a later time a wish to further increase the longevity of the Z Fighters in the case that Frieza ever returned.
- Cell and the Androids was never created with the intention to defeat Goku, because Doctor Gero somewhat reformed and was forced to ally his Neo-Red Ribbn Army with the likes of the Z-Fighters to deal with the increased threat that Piccolo Daimao provided for the world. They were still created, but instead created to help defend the Earth. So too, Bulma (who brokered the peace) facilitated wishing Gero's son back from the dead.
- The Dragon Balls were destroyed by Kami in his final days when he was fearful of someone abusing their power for evil hearted actions. He wished for the Dragon Balls to be destroyed, and in the process Shenron destroyed the Dragon Balls throughout the Universe with his power. In time, a small flotilla of Namekians would arrive to Earth in hopes of finding refuge and more importantly in hopes of finding what they believed to be the last remaining Dragon Balls in existence.
These changes, however big- are irrelevant in the long run, and after four hundred years there have been changes to the world from them but other things remain largely the same. The world is still one of adventure, there are challenges around every corner, and there is magic, and there are nearly mystical martial artists fighting for supremacy both openly and in the shadows throughout the world of Earth.

Factions Here on Dragon Ball: Broken Destiny we’re a player driven roleplaying community focused on Dragon Ball and its mystical martial arts adventure storytelling. What may seem almost negligible to some is the word community in that statement, but here we believe it isn’t negligible at all. People make the site, and are its lifeblood with their activity. It is for this reason primarily that we want things to be player driven and that the world building focuses on this. While some factions in the world are still major powers, most are on their last legs or in need of new leadership. It is possible for players who really want it to move up and take control of those groups IC; it’s just as possible for them to decide to make their own group. The Z-Fighters weren’t established before the Z-Fighters established them, after all.
It is the Age 1154, and four hundred years have passed since the Dark King Piccolo and his minions have begun their reign of destruction on the Planet Earth. In that time, numerous alliances have been made and broken, and great battles have been waged. Because of those incidents, the very nature of the World’s Government has been more fragmented and while there is a King of Earth, it is a mostly ceremonial title with the Kings or other monarchs of the various sections of Earth being its true rulers. They exercise their rule through their disciples and their children, collectively known as their ‘Factions’.
These are the factions on Dragon Ball: Broken Destiny: The Orange Star Alliance Made up of the martial arts schools of the Turtle style School of Martial Arts and the Monkey Fist style school of martial arts, with friendly ties to the likes of Capsule Corporation, the Ox-King Foundries, and the Wolf Fang Style School of Martial arts. The Orange Star Alliance largely exists in the wilderness and farmlands in the far east of the continent around Mount Paozu, and in the island chains to the far south. Statues of Master Muten Roshi are found throughout the realms allied with the Turtle Shell Alliance. It’s capital, largest, and only City is the Orange Star City from which it takes its name.
The Wolves of the Desert Made up of the martial arts school known as the Wolf Fang Style School of Martial Arts, and the magical arts school known as the Southern Transformation Academy, the Wolves of the Desert run a series of oases, small towns, and casinos in the great desert in the south east of the continent. It is said that if you need something smuggled, or something found- the Wolves of the Desert are the best to ask.
The Crane Hermits A collection of martial arts schools, monasteries, and tribesmen who owe their allegiance to the Crane School of Martial Arts, the Northern Witch’s Coven, and the Northern Kingdom of Psions. This collection of people cover much of the northern mountains of the continent in various small patches.
Ox-Corp Foundries Actually a long standing dynastic and working agreement near the Ox Kingdom of Mount Frying Pan, the Son Family, the Briefs Family and their Capsule Corp, the Foundry of Ox-Corp uses the natural heat of Mount Frying Pan to provide an industrial backbone to its corporation, and uses the know how of Capsule Corp to make things which are valuable in the world with the natural power and steam provided by the mountain. Ox-Corp Foundries send 90% of their profits to the Son family and the Orange Star Alliance, and indeed it could be said the company was and is a way for the Briefs family to subsidize their long standing friends.
Capsule Corp Headed by the mysteriously youthful Brief’s family, Capsule Corp has only continued to thrive and prosper over the centuries despite the changing times and peak energy. In addition to itself, Capsule Corp has cultivated two incredibly advanced subsidiaries, each with an Administrator every bit as brilliant as the Briefs family itself.
Capsule Corp itself now specializes in pills, pills for all your daily or emergency needs. The fine alchemists at capsule corp churn out all sorts of pills and potions all for profit. One of their most popular and profitable products is ‘restoration fluid,’ a miraculous substance that can provide support the body to heal any wound so long as the body’s condition is stable. The incredibly wealthy sometimes use it to fill small pods for complete submersion.
Gero Enterprises specializes in the enhancement of the Human machine. Prosthetics, Implants, Grafts all the way up to full blown Humanized Constructs.
Wheelo Enterprises can be seen as a counterpoint to Gero Enterprises, all about external machinery and Artificial Intelligence. Personal Weapons and Convenience Gear, Golems, Vehicles [Self Driving or Not, both civilian and military], Golems for use as guards or troops, occasionally they even produce a fully sentient Golem with all the trappings of a soul. Although the all three of them are technically owned by Capsule Corp, they still compete vigorously for a greater share of profits between the three companies. Sometimes this competition bleeds into the real, martial world, or the world of the shadows- not just the world of board rooms.
The Dark Kingdoms An alliance of numerous kingdoms of Demons, Demon Clan Namekians, and evil-hearted Namekian refugees, the Dark Kingdoms are horrible places to live for those who are not members of those races. They are the vestiges of the alliance that Piccolo Daimao made with the Demon Warlord Korochi, and while their alliance never took over the world as they planned, they control the areas which they did take over with an iron fist, and regularly send out raiding parties to capture slaves and goods.
The Pig Demon Duchies A decedent and gluttonous place ruled by the descendants of the Pigman Oolong and the Ronin Yajirobe, and their wives. At the center of the Pig Demon Duchies, lies the Tower of Korin/Tower of Kami. It is loosely governed by the Northern Academy of Transformation, and the Pig-Demon School of Martial Arts, and many of its ‘dukes’ and ‘duchesses’ are simply members of one or the other school who offer their protection to a village or town from bandits in exchange for tribute and being above the law.
ANY THAT YOU CAN THINK OF! Players are allowed to be lone wolf types who are from destroyed martial arts schools, defunct kingdoms, survivors of science experiments, or anything else you can think of (within reason). We will likely make them into bigger parts of the canon if you are active and you make them bigger parts of the canon yourself.

Canon Descendants What is it anyways? Here on Dragon Ball: Broken Destiny that’s the term we use for anyone related to a canon character. Canons themselves are off limits from being player characters (because most that are living are high level NPC for factions), but their descendants are not. This is a setting 400 years after the end of the Dark King Piccolo Saga, after all.Canon Descendant Benefits There are no direct benefits to being a Canon Descendant. You gain nothing statistically aside from bragging rights and clearance from we staff members to make traits which might more or less reflect you as the character’s spitting image, so to speak. Keep in mind that ‘400 years’ has passed and it’s been many, many generations since your ancestor was in any position to make more offspring, so you are likely at least 5 or 6 generations out, at minimum.
For example: Robert LOVES Raditz, it’s one of his favorite characters in the series. He as such takes the ‘Canon Descendant: Raditz’ trait to make his character, as a result. More than just that, he asks us if he can make a trait to give him a discount in the technique learning time to learn techniques like ‘Double Sunday’, ‘Dynamite Monday’, ‘Weekend’, and ‘Saturday Crush’. We say of course he can, and so he creates such a trait, getting 25% off of the the time to learn each of those techniques.
Inversely, in another example: Joanna loves Vegeta and Bulma and is excited to play a member of the Briefs Clan, so uses her free ‘Canon Descendant:’ trait to be a descendant of Bulma and Vegeta. She decides she doesn’t particularly want to have easier access to Big Bang Attack, Final Flash, or any of Vegeta’s other moves, and doesn’t want her to be too Bulma like in the smarts, so she doesn’t ask for any request to make a special trait out. She just enjoys having her character be tied into the lore of the series, and uses it to craft an amazing backstory. What does it cost? The first use of the ‘Canon Descendant’ Trait is free and costs no Mastery Points. The second use by a player costs 1 Mastery Point for the second character. This is because there is no innate value in playing a canon descendant, but we don’t want people to play nothing but canon descendants, either!
NOTE: You must decide to take your 'Canon Descendant' trait when you create your character. This is the only time you can make this decision, and you have to spend the required Mastery Points in order to claim it. You cannot decide six months later that "omg! he actually IS a Descendant of Vegeta!"

Advertising & Recruiting We, like all RP communities, thrive on recruiting and advertising. It is new blood that keeps the site going as old blood disappears or has to retire, and it is for that reason that we offer the following benefits for recruiting and advertising. We know the time you spend recruiting or advertising could be used actually ROLEPLAYING, so it's a compensation for that.
Individual Recruiting For those of you who manually recruit a friend to the forum, you gain all of the following bonuses (and so do they) after the character is accepted:
1) 5,000 Effort Points. 2) 2 Free MP. 3)1 Rep Point.
These bonuses also apply if you re-recruit a player who was previously with us but whom departed and who has been gone for one month or longer.
Posting the Advertisement For those who help the site out by posting our advertisement on other sites, you gain different rewards:
For the first 10 posted elsewhere you gain 1,000 Effort Points. For the first 20 posted elsewhere you gain 2 free Mastery Points. For the first 30 posted elsewhere you gain 1,000 Power Level. For the first 40 posted elsewhere you gain 2,000 Effort Points. For the first 50 posted elsewhere you gain 5,000 Effort Points. For the first 60 posted elsewhere you gain 3 free Mastery Points and a treasure roll. For the first 70 posted elsewhere you gain a coupon for '5000 words added to word count total' in any thread you are in. For the first 80 posted elsewhere you gain 7,500 Effort Points. For the first 90 posted elsewhere you gain a coupon for '5000 words added to word count total' in any thread you are in. For the first 100 posted elsewhere you gain a Dragon Ball Shard. These posted advertisements must be listed in your post in the ‘advertised in’ thread, and they must not be multiple posts in the same forum -unless- they are posted on top of an already existing advertisement thread upon that forum within the rules of that forum’s etiquette. Individual Recruiting All new and returning players, regardless of if they were recruited, came through an advertisement, or just came back on their own, gain the following benefits.
1) 5,000 Effort Points. 2) 2 Free MP. 3) 1 Rep Point. 4) A bonus 25% to their gains in all threads, and providing a bonus to the gains of others by 25% in all threads which they participate in together. This bonus lasts for ONE month and then is inactivated.

Days and Times of Dragon Ball: Broken Destiny Complete Changes to the Timeline Time Immemorial - Age 752 No major changes to the timeline.
Age 752 After escaping from the Rice Cooker, King Piccolo is confronted alone by Muten Roshi, who attempts to perform the Evil Containment Wave again. But Roshi secretly does not wish to die, as he would upon completing the technique like Mutaito did, and subconsciously holds back. The Mafuuba fails. Master Muten Roshi and Piccolo Daimao are both EXTREMELY weakened by the failed Evil Containment Wave fiasco. The Dark King survives it, but he is not so well that he would not consider a light form of reincarnating himself. He creates a ‘perfect offspring’ in Piccolo Junior, as well as plenty more children later. With King Piccolo to guide him, Piccolo Jr. becomes a much more vicious namekian than before.
Age 753 Master Muten Roshi realizes he is dying anyway, which was his fear in using the Mafuuba to begin with, and as a result he focuses the remaining years in his life on training Yamcha and Krillin to the levels they deserve while Goku does his thing trying to get stronger to defeat Piccolo Daimao.
Age 754 Goku gets married to Chichi a little earlier than in the previous timeline because the suddenly mortal feeling Roshi pressures Goku to make good on his promises.
Age 761 Goku returns seven years later to reveal his now five year old son to his master and quasi-great grandfather before Roshi has a chance to shuffle the mortal coil. Roshi gives the boy a kiss on the forehead and smiles, but before the happy scene can be a happy day, Piccolo Junior arrives on a mission from his father. Steal Goku’s son and turn this child to Piccolo Daimao's side, before Roshi and Goku can turn it into a weapon against Piccolo Daimao.
RADITZ ARRIVES. This time, things change. He catches his brother caught in battle with someone and notices what is obviously his nephew in danger. Uncle Instincts kick in and he jumps in to aid his brother, forming a bond. Confusing Piccolo Jr. with his father, the brothers think he found a way to heal the damage from the failed Mafuuba. Rather than killing Piccolo Junior, the sons of Bardock beat him within an inch of his life and take him to Goku’s home so he can help them heal Muten Roshi.
Piccolo Jr. reveals he is not his father, and that Piccolo Daimao is still suffering from the failed Mafuuba. There is no hope to save Muten Roshi. Gohan, being the wanna be doctor-scholar Chichi wants him to be, as a five year old, tends Piccolo’s wounds or tries to. Raditz approves of this because he thinks it is torture. Goku thinks his kid is being a good sport of a martial artist. Gohan bonds with Piccolo over the course of the Namekian’s recovery and convinces his father and uncle to allow Piccolo to leave unharmed.
Muten Roshi passes away shortly after.
Age 762 Piccolo Jr. formally throws in his resignation papers at his father’s, wrecking a portion of Piccolo Daimao’s army and deciding that he is going to protect that kid who helped him and protected him. He becomes Gohan’s pseudo-bodyguard, teacher, and friend. This also greatly upsets Piccolo Daimao.
Age 764 Raditz, realizing thanks to Goku that Earth has Dragon Balls, uses them to wish Vegeta and all the other Saiyans still living in the Universe to the spot they are in on Earth. The Saiyans form a pow-wow and Vegeta and Nappa become allies of Goku’s against Piccolo Daimao, thinking Goku has been fighting this entire time against Piccolo Daimao and others to conquer the Earth.
Age 765 A year of fighting and training passes, as well as bonding, and Vegeta meets and marries Bulma after being consumed with the idea of using human genes to strengthen Saiyan genes. The Saiyans either move to the wilderness, join the Z Fighter’s fledgling army, or go on ‘reserve duty’ and move to the city with Vegeta as a royal bodyguard.
Age 766 Vegeta knows that Frieza will notice all of his Saiyan soldiers missing, and will eventually target the earth. And he knows that if they keep dying off, nobody will be left to defend earth. So, with mortality breathing down their necks, Vegeta wishes for all the Z-Fighters to be youthful and undying until they are no longer needed because 'the threat of Frieza is ended' or 'they’ve raised a suitable replacement' to defeat Frieza, guaranteeing they would all have the time they need to raise children stronger than themselves. Vegeta, Nappa, and Raditz retell the story of the destruction of Planet Vegeta to the Z Fighters and Kami.
Age 767 The story terrifies Kami. They were still dealing with King Piccolo, there was no way they could also handle a direct assault by Frieza. Kami waits until another year passes, then makes a fateful wish without telling any of the Z-Fighters. He wishes for all the Dragon Balls in the Galaxy to be destroyed. Specifically saying ‘Broken into Pieces’. He hopes by destroying them he can head off Frieza's attempts to collect them and become all powerful.
Age 772 Vegeta's prediction is right. Enraged by the destruction of the Dragon Balls before his arrival, Namek is wrecked in the next five years. Namekian refugees come to the Planet Earth in droves looking for the ‘last remaining Dragon Balls’ only to find they've already been obliterated. Frieza never arrives on Earth.
The remaining Z-Fighters, however, remain youthful, meaning Frieza's threat has not been ended. Slowly, they begin to train powerful replacements, and some of them fade away. Others stick around, making sure they'll be here when Frieza arrives, however long that takes.
Age 1154 Hundreds of years pass, bringing us the current day. History over the Dragon Balls have been lost without proof. Earthlings assume the dragon balls are myth for Pilaf Land story books. Namekians, Arcosians, Saiyans, and Tuffles are not seen any differently or believed to have hailed from other planets. Only Saiyans and Namekians are identified as such while Tuffles and Arcosians are rarely seen that they are mistaken as humans or demons. What happens next? FIND OUT, ON DRAGON BALL: BROKEN DESTINY!!!
