It had been a weird few days, first he died, got back somehow, was forced to face a new world with new eyes and abilities as well as a new goal, was robbed of a final explanation as well as any help, and got threatened. All that in a few days! Still he couldn't help but be thankful for the out he had in that situation, as well as the few days of rest he had. Well, he called it rest but he was trying out new things almost every second of every day in an attempt to find something Modona neglected to tell him, or failed to tell him before his untimely death. But sadly, he did not find anything new, just more of the old stuff he was told he was slowly getting the hang of. And on top of that he found it easier to focus on certain things, like his old training regimen for instance. It had never been hard to focus on that, but after his little accident it was as if he no longer needed to focus, it just happened. It was that easy. But for now, he was doing none of that. Quietly staring in front of him seemed to be the plan for today, his mind not really focused on anything important even though he was in dire need of a plan, yet did not even begin to think of one. Where planning used to be one of his strong suits, right now he only thought of, while this all enhanced his abilities, he never got to really use them on anyone other than himself or on a wall. So maybe that would be the goal for today; train his abilities and use them on someone other than himself. Or maybe.. just get used to them enough to be able to use them on others in the first place, without harming them. He remembered that whole thing being regulated, but being shut down right before Modona died, leaving him with abilities he didn't know how to use properly since he never received any training in them. With eyes on the horizon he would finally focus his mind, slap his hands together and stand up to face a brand new morning! And hopefully a morning with some kind of human interaction to tell him what exactly he was capable of. ============ WC: 398 Initiative roll: 9oyMBMlz1d100 Caffey1d100

The longer Caffey spent outside the dojo, the more she was sure that she’d struggled when she finally went back. How could she not, with everything out here? With all these people, and experiences, how could one not want to spend their lives in this world? So, because she knew her time was overall limited, she’d taken to spending as much of it as possible exploring new and interesting things. At present, her favorite way to do this was to reach out with her senses, find someone stronger than the average person out here – which admittedly was quite a low bar – and find them to further her own skills. Despite her newfound love for the outside world, the girl was a martial artist to her core, and she hated to miss out on a fight that could have been interesting, or fun, simply because she focused on some other matter instead. Today, she found that rewarded more than any other day so far. The feeling wasn’t nearby, but it was close enough for her to get to easily, and if her senses didn’t deceive her, whoever this was had to be at least as strong as she was. She’d look forward to this, there were some new trick she wanted to try out, and there was no better chance than a sparring partner close to her own level. Besides, no one would reach her level who didn’t want to fight, right? Running at the superhuman speeds that had come to feel normal to her, Caffey made her way towards the energy she felt, eager to meet a potential foe. Keeping her training up would be vital to spreading the Cobra School, and would be vital to her asserting her place as Master once she returned to the Dojo. With any luck, she would find a match equal to the challenge she sought.

His eye, the weird one that mentioned all those arbitrary things before like his heartbeat and blood flow, now suddenly alerted Bryce of something with a great speed, and it was heading straight for him it seemed. Not that there was anything else around of interest, but still.
Instinctively Bryce got up from the rock he was sitting on, though he did not know why he did such a thing. Maybe it was because he was told there was something heading for him and he was taught to always be on the defensive? But.. what was there to be defensive about? Something his eye told him? Eyes weren't even supposed to record anything let alone act independently from their user. New things were still riddled all along his body, it seemed.
But he was standing now and indeed, in the distance, a small black speck for now, was seemingly headed in his direction at a high speed. The straight line and the distance were the only things allowing Bryce to notice anything, but he noticed that when he turned his head, his mechanical eye kept itself locked onto what appeared to be a human body by now. Did it have some kind of zoom in function?
With some tries Bryce finally succeeded in pulling his view away from that little black speck, instantly finding himself turning his head back again to see if he could recreate it. And sure enough, his eye locked on instantly, and in the short time it took him to do that the figure seemed to be a lot closer to him, and he thought he could see a female figure in it, which was odd because the build seemed to be better than the average human.
Again, something he was told by his eye. It was slightly annoying, and Bryce had no real idea yet what triggered it so he just slapped his head a few times and rubbed his eye. ''Stop it!'' He hissed as he opened his eye, finding that his vision had returned to normal again. So he naturally assumed he could control that function with his mind, and as he then squinted in an attempt to figure it out he found that his eye indeed locked on to the silhouette he could now make out, together with the height of said person all the way to the color of their eyes. Useless information.
Required information though, was why she was speeding towards him which was answered by nothing at all, forcing Bryce to take on a defensive stance just in case as he then forced his eye to disengage the lock once more, the reddish hue around it dissappearing.
Not a word he spoke as the girl finally got close enough to be seen with the naked eye, and even then Bryce didn't speak and just remained still, gently sliding one foot through the sand to stand before the other, his body turning to the side slightly while he faced her.
His hands raised slightly, but stopped rising when they were at thigh height as he then just intently stared at the girl, still not saying a word and waiting for her to speak. =========== WC: 535

The figure in front of her was strange, not as much in looks as it was in actions. Well, also in looks, Caffey corrected herself. A large scar running down his body, an even bigger kanji emblazoned up on the center of his chest were the first things to catch her eye. The man had clearly been through some ordeal, and his body showed the results. Beyond that, the man absolutely dwarfed her in size. That wasn’t unusual, Caffey was a small girl, but even so, the extent to which she felt dwarfed seemed to extend beyond just his physical build, something about his attitude also made her feel even smaller than she already was. She doubted it was intentional, but silently staring at her the way he was, this was one of the few times in Caffey’s life she’d ever felt weak. She finally opened her mouth to speak, though her usual high energy was nowhere to be found. “ Hey, uh… I could sense your power. Like, I was nearby, and I could feel how strong you are, and I thought it might be fun to fight, if you want? Just a sparring match! No, like, permanent damage, you know?” She shuffled uncomfortably on her feet, then pulled into a battle stance. “ Let’s just talk with our fists, yeah? That’s better for me, anyways.” She said, setting her feet to prepare to fight. She took a deep breath, and let her mind and overactive personality melt away into a battle focus. This was it, the reason she enjoyed fighting, the only time she ever felt anything approaching calm, focused and ready to fight. She lived for this, she adored it. There was no moment in her life that even approached this kind of feeling. She realized she was quicker than the larger man was, she could act faster. Taking advantage of the situation, she let her ki envelop her, and let out a long, loud, inarticulate shout as her aura flared around her and her power increased. She felt stronger now, but she wasn’t done. She quickly used the power flowing around her, enveloping herself with it and compressing it into a hardened barrier to absorb whatever attacks her opponent might through at her. “ Come on, then!”

Okay, so one of the first things this girl said implied that indeed, there were other people that could sense energy. That part didn't amaze him though, what did strike him as unusual was that he put out enough power to be sensed. Maybe that whole android thing had nothing but positive effects on him. The next question was more than odd, because there was no hello, no nice talk, just her asking if he would want to fight. Now, in her defense he wasn't the most social person around and maybe she knew that, or maybe she was more used to fighting than anything else. One thing was for certain though, she didn't seem very certain when she spoke to Bryce. All the more confusing it was to him when she, without really waiting for an answer just got into a fighting stance of her own. And as Bryce watched her feet get into position there was also a shift in the energy coming off of her. It no longer felt.. insecure. Almost as if his previous thought on her maybe liking fighting more than talking was right. And even that was confirmed when she flat out suggested they'd let their fists do the talking. Something at which Bryce simply nodded in agreement. Now, he was not above talking or even introducing himself, but if she was too impatient to even wait for that.. who was he to deny her that what she wanted? When she had her stance all figured out she made some strange motion, almost invisibla to the naked eye. But what it did took Bryce by surprice, causing his eyes to widen in response. It layered her body in some kind of energy, it looked more flashy than needed in a spar, but it was still cool. And beyond just looking cool, it gave her an increase in the energy he had been feeling coming off of her just a second ago. Almost as if some sort of reserve was being tapped. Nifty. Maybe he could do the same thing, though with the speed his energy ran out doing even intensive tasks he didn't think he would ever need a reserve of energy. But the purpose of that rampant energy was made apparent as it somehow solidified in a coat of armor, making the girl in front of him appear more shiny. She told him to come on, so maybe it was some sort of trap? Either way, it was Bryce's turn now to.. prepare in front of her and give away his techniques? So he followed suit, dropping the stance he was in and pressing his hands together in front of him like he was going to meditate. Which he was, finding the calm within himself in the hopes of finding the outcome of this battle, or maybe even just snippets of what could happen and how he was going to respond to it. Either way, he was ready. He opened his eyes and took on his stance from before again, only this time one of his hands was used to beckon her over. ''You first.'' Bryce said. ====================== WC: 524 Defensive Phase Bryce is hit 0 time(s) for 0 damage!

The man seemed to barely react to Caffey at all, barely saying a word and making almost no real movement. She couldn’t sense any kind of power fluctuation or anything like that in him, either. This only served to make her more uncomfortable with him. Despite her discomfort, she endeavored to push past it, to just start fighting so her anxieties about the situation could melt away with her attacks. She was a Cobra Master and she couldn’t keep letting things like anxiety get in the way of her learning new fighting styles or making new friends, and if that meant she had to force down the anxiety of facing some weird, huge, quiet guy… Well, she’d do it. To that end, she let her aura flow over her once again, and once the brilliant and unstable yellow-orange energy was flowing around her she charged towards her opponent. As typical for the Cobra Style, she appeared to trip and fall, hoping to distract him for just a minute, but then pushed off the ground with her hands, using her momentum to bring forth a brutal overhead kick. She followed this up with a quicker series of punches, then reset herself into a defensive posture to prepare for incoming attacks.

Not a word was spoken for several moments, and Bryce, in his martial stance kept his focus on the unnamed girl despite the yellow thing swirling around her which came a bit too close to distracting the technoman, while also trying to enjoy the moment, the calm before the storm. The girl before him had, like him, taken on a martial arts stance and it excited Bryce a bit too much, giving him the promise of being able to actually spar with someone who knew how to really fight. Her first move was to simply charge at him though, which was something Bryce would expect a newbie to do, but when she dropped to the ground it seemed like something he knew all too well. His eyes widened and he readied his feet in the mere instant it took for her to push herself up deftly and aim a foot at his collarbone, or even the top of his head. With a swift motion to the right Bryce was easily able to dodge the attack though, though he also made sure to keep moving to the side in case there came a follow up. Which it did. There was a flurry of punches aimed for Bryce's midriff among other areas as he took note and assumed this school she belonged to, if any, taught a form of zui quan and as such he was able to interpret the motions rather easily. They weren't too fast, and while it did cost him some energy to keep up he found himself able to catch each thrown fist and deflect it with an open palm. The first attack had been too erratic, and the second too precise, and therefore easily handled. However, this meant Bryce had to spend longer than he would want just making sure no attacks would hurt him, and it left little room for anything offensive. Still, as her barrage ended he was able to leave one attempt at something offensive as, with the speed of her flurry and it being mostly deflected, Bryce threw out the hand he used to deflect the blows, aiming the palm of his hand towards her sternum to try and get her to back off a bit. ============= WC: 373 Defensive Phase Bryce is hit 1 time(s) for 11 damage! 11 damage - 12 DR = 0 damage taken!

Her first attack had missed, it seemed that her opponent was smarter than she’d expected, and had seen through her bluff well enough to know she hadn’t actually fallen, and correctly predicted her incoming kick. He was the first to do that since she’d left the dojo, everyone else in the wider world had fallen for her fake fall and been on the receiving end of a brutal kick. This was getting her excited, now, knowing that her opponent, despite his strange relative silence and menacing demeanor, was a real fighter, someone she could feel evenly matched with. Her next attack almost connected, but the large man managed to catch or deflect each attack in the series she threw at him. Ready for a counter-attack, the Cobra Master reached out with her sense, trying to anticipate when and where it would be coming from, correctly judging that the man would aim for a palm strike to her chest, and managed to contort her body out of the way before he could. It was a very skillful and well thought out maneuver, taking advantage of the brief pause in her flurry of attacks to strike. “ You’re good! Really good!” She said as the man’s palm flew past her body. “ The best I’ve fought so far for sure! Let’s see how you handle this next!” True to her taunt, the girl proceeded to attack once again, again delivering a flurry of quick strikes at her opponent, following them up with a brutal uppercut aimed at the man’s jaw. The most basic Cobra sequence, but one that had rarely failed her when she needed it. The more she fought, the less awkward the larger man made her feel, and she was loving it.

The fight, even if just for training purposes, had really started now and Bryce was starting to feel it. As calm as he tried to be, his heart still started beating more and as a result his eye showed it to him in BPM, which was odd since this was not really useful. Well, aside from making sure he knew how he failed to keep calm when he had been taught just that over the years. However, suddenly his heart rate sank to low levels as if those machine parts within him took care of it through his thoughts. Now, with newfound calm on his side he found himself being able to look more closely at Caffey, and even as she moved he seemed to be able to follow her every movement, mucle and tendon. But what helped even more in this situation was the fact she basically told him she was going to attack when she did, which was a grave error because he was able to prepare himself slighlty, which in turn meant that the 'surprise' attack was of no use. Although the punches she threw at him had speed behind them, and would certainly hurt him if they hit, he had seen the pattern once before, and that paired with how she mentioned she was going to attack, Bryce found himself able to weave through the thrown punches, deflecting a few here and there but ultimately standing closer to her than when she started the attack. Which in turn meant he was able to duck the uppercut she threw next, which came as quite a surprise but went by with the same effectiveness as the first few punches. ''You're a good fighter too.'' He responded finally as she complimented him, raising his hands to shoulder heigt and jutting them out like claws. He moved to the side with a gentle few steps to try and get her to follow him. ''But you talk too much. I see through you.'' And with that, as his arms were in the position to strike he would try and throw his front leg against her shin, when an overhead blow came from his arm, with the lower half of his palm aimed at her collar bone. =================== WC: 375 Defensive Phase Bryce is hit 0 time(s) for 0 damage!

A flurry of fists, a man emerging unfazed, and a furious Cobra Master. Caffey hated missing attacks, always considering it a personal failure when she did so. She was a Master, she expected herself to be able to land a solid hit more often than this, at least with basic sequence like the ones she’d been performing. Still, she supposed she had blatantly broadcast her attack before she’d made it. A rookie mistake that she should have known would be a problem, but she’d been too caught up in the fight, too excited to show what she was made of to the strongest opponent she’d faced yet. She wouldn’t make that mistake again. A split-second later, Caffey thought herself fortunate that she had a cushion of ki surrounding her body, as her opponent laid two blows on her, she attempted to contort her body of the way but to no avail, she felt a strong impact hit her shin, and an even stronger impact on her collarbone. The pain was bad, but quickly faded, apparently having been mostly absorbed by the shield of ki surrounding her body. Sucking in a sharp breath, then letting out, Caffey ignored the subtle throbbing of her shin for the moment, performing a quick leap away from her opponent and allowing her ki envelop her limbs before charging forward once again, no longing chatting with every attack, Caffey wanted to land hits, she wanted to show herself, and this strange man, that she was deserving of the title of master… Even though she supposed he had no idea that was her title at all. So, she charged forward, and appeared to repeat the previous maneuver of faking a fall to turn into an overhead kick. Instead, however, she let herself hit the ground before leaping back up with a swift uppercut, trying to surprise her opponent from below and land a crushing hit to the solar plexus. She followed up that attempt with another quick flurry of fists, hoping that this time one would hit.

Seeing the effects of his previous hits was almost fun, a thing Bryce had been training himself not to have when sparring anyone, since that was just about the only thing still inhibiting his momentum in these cases. But with the obvious anger he was seeing upon the still unnamed girl there came a small smile on his face. Too small to notice from a distance, but she wasn't going to allow the distance between them to linger, it seemed, as she came at him even with having gotten a solid blow to the shin. She started out making the same motions as before, which quickly drew the smile from Bryce's face as he was equal parts confused and irked at the same time. This didn't seem right, why would anyone knowing just a smidge of martial arts use the same move twice in quick succession? It was quickly corrected though as she proceeded to fall to the ground entirely and then popped up with a fist aimed at one of the chakra's Bryce had learned about was pretty important: manipura. Or maybe she was trying to just hit the plexus, who knew. Either way, a quick sidestep would take care of an attempted uppercut as well as it had the overhead kick from before. But as he did so he was confronted with a sudden change of direction, and this time it was once more the same flurry of punches as before. And while Bryce was doing his best to minimize the damage from it by deflecting the blows, there were still a few breaking through his defenses, hitting his shoulders among other places. Glancing blows, but even those could leave a mark. Now with his eyes focused on the girl he decided to go in for an offensive move of his own, one she could hopefully not see coming. And as he spun to the side to be out of reach of the fists he would plant his feet down before attempting to use the momentum from the spin to hopefully land another singular kick against her shin, in the exact same place as before. =========== WC: 358 Defensive Phase Bryce is hit 1 time(s) for 16 damage! 16 - 13 DR = 3 damage!

This attack had seemed to take the larger man by surprise, but Caffey’s fist still flew wide on her attempted uppercut. She cursed silently, but counted herself lucky that at least a few of her attacks in that long flurry of punches had managed to connect. Her plan was working, little by little, but not as effectively as she’d hoped, but she was at least landing attacks. She felt her anger fade, and her focus return. She refused to let herself get so overworked and angry that she lost herself, that had lost her fights in the past. She had to be better than that, now. Her opponent proved to be creative, too, striking out with another kick to her shin, this time using the momentum of his dodge. Caffey never saw it coming, and it hurt. Despite her anger at this development, she managed to stay focused, not allowing herself to lose herself in the anger, refusing to let her opponent get to her like that again. Her aura flared and enveloped her arms again, but in a more controlled, less wild fashion. She’d keep fighting, but she wasn’t going to lose herself again. She’d lost too many spars against other Cobra students that way. The Cobra Master held her ground, and the yellow-orange glow of her aura intensified even more, and she began a long series of punches, ending with a leg sweep, trying to overwhelm the larger man with the punches in hopes that he wouldn’t be able to react to them and the sweeping leg.

Okay, this was one thing he was taught even though she did it in a much more.. obvious manner. While 'offensively playing' with people you would sometimes lose control due to the playing becoming too hectic, or too hurtful which seemed to be the case now, and the loss of control meant the loss of energy and allowing it to fill the air outside your body, which also seemed to be happening here. But oddly enough, while this was visible it seemed to be controlled even outside of the body, which made Bryce wonder if every fighter was capable of this or if this was a technique of the school she belonged to. Either way, it caught the mandroid by surprise and somehow got beyond his sensor as a flurry of blows once again blurted forth, catching Bryce only mildly off guard once more. Moving his arms in tandem with the motions she made he found himself able to block a few hits, but the force behind the fists left their mark on his arms as they seemed to pummel through. However, this forced him to stop his focus on her arms as that was a lost battle, and in doing so he found himself being able to respond to the leg sweep in time to avoid it completely. Jumping up for just a moment he would duck low and to the side a bit as he hit the ground, allowing his fist to sway with his body, palm opening as it was thrown forward in an attempt to hit the side of the girl. Whether or not that hit though he would spin to the side as he drew back his fist and would once more use the momentum to unleash a kick, though this time not one aimed at her shin but a sideways kick aimed at the opposite side of where his fist was aimed. =========== WC: 318 Defensive Phase Bryce is hit 1 time(s) for 7 damage! 7 - 3 DR = 4 damage!

Caffey had landed real, solid hits, finally. Her opponent seemed relatively unscathed, but she’d still managed to at least make satisfying contact. This was good, she had this under control now. Even if the man could hit her consistently, which he clearly could, she was now confident she could do the same to him. She anticipated a counter attack, and ready to show her skill, she closed her eyes and reached out with her sixth sense to anticipate where the next attacks would come from. Her intuition told her that the man would combo two attacks, aimed at opposite sides of her body. She kept her eyes closed, slowing her breathing, and just before his first attack she twisted out of the way, following that up with a bend backwards to avoid his follow up attack. The Cobra Master stood straight up, opening her eyes, and gave a wide grin at her opponent. “ Cool, right? That’s one of my favorite Cobra School techniques!” She said, eager to gloat after a successful use of one of the Cobra School’s core defensive techniques. Without waiting for a response, she lunged forward, her aura surrounding her body once again as her power level rose, her reserve ki forming an unstable and more aggressive aura than they had previously. Rather than focusing on her limbs, as it had before, it instead flared all around her. She dug deep, and brought up all the reserve ki she could, then letting her aura recede. Her fist headed straight towards the man’s face, a simple and slower attack than she’d done before, but she’d had to take a turn to recover as best she could.

With his eyes as wide as saucers he looked as his opponent, who he was starting to see as someone bringing out the best in him, he struck air as she dodged both of his moves with no visible effort, only to claim it was her favorite technique of the Cobra school. ''Cobra?'' Bryce repeated as he caught his stance, falling out of the momentum he had by what seemed to be a girl predicting the future. Maybe he would have to learn that technique. Or maybe.. he needed to find ways around it, because it did seem to have its flaws. It 'told' her where his attacks were going to be, but she would be left open when using it. Maybe he could somhow take advantage of that opening.. However, he could not dwell on that conundrum too long as it seemed she was going to celebrate with an attack of her own, and one with which Bryce knew he would not need a technique on to predict due to the way she choreographed her movements so.. akin to a ballerina. Maybe.. she'd be more at home practicing capoeira? It wasn't that her technique or her form was weak, somehow she just.. was easy to predict, and Bryce, instead of telling her that, would take advantage of the punch. However, different than before she seemed to use that same form of energy from before, but Bryce could almost feel it entering her entire body instead of just her fist, which was something worthy of note. In order to deflect the blow though, he raised the arm that was on the opposite side of her raised one, and in the blink of an eye he would spin to the side while simultaniously hitting his wrist to the top of her hand, deflecting the blow downward and allowing himself more time to come out on the other side with much less injuries than he would have otherwise felt from it. His counter only began there though, as he used the momentum of the girl herself against her this time. Or at least, he was planning on doing so and succeeding by just using the momentum from his spin to jut out his foot in a low kick, aiming to hit the girl on her ankle and hopefully dropping her to the ground, where the kick would do nothing, but the hit on the ground would counter the momentum she had if it hit. ============= WC: 412 Defensive Phase Bryce is hit 1 time(s) for 9 damage! 9 - 4 DR = 5 damage!
