Appearance:
Caffey is in a word, compact. She’s short at only 5' 2", and relatively light. She uses this to her advantage, knowing that she looks weaker than she is, her lean body hiding a heavy amount of muscle and her general diminutiveness disguises her ability to fight. Her long black hair is kept tied into a ponytail so that it doesn't get in the way of her fighting. She almost always wears a yellow and black jacket emblazoned across the back with the Cobra School symbol over a black tanktop, with matching yellow and black shorts.
Personality: Caffey is energetic, friendly and selfless. Her most defining personality trait, however, is her drive to be seen as the hero. While this makes her perform many selfless actions, it also often puts her in danger, as she will come to the aid of someone in trouble without regard to her own safety.
History: Deep within the Great Desert of the Southern Lands, there exist a large number of villages with a strong martial arts tradition. Every child born in these villages are trained in martial arts from a very young age, and once every 5 years, the village will send the most promising child, aged between 5 and 9, to the little known Cobra School of martial arts. By collecting the strongest warriors of each village, each of whom will defend not only their own village, but any of the surrounding villages, and training them under one master per village, a balance and peace is maintained between each. Caffey was one of the children sent to the Cobra School shortly after her 5th birthday.
Despite entering the school as one of the weakest students, the best her village could offer was apparently not up to par with the other villages, Caffey became something of a prodigy in the martial arts. She took to her lessons quicker than any of the other students, and before long she outclassed even some of the teachers. While her level of skill increased at a meteoric pace, she often faced criticism for her attitude as well her constant inability to sit still, which she always blamed on her overflowing energy level. Through triumph over many rivalries and countless spars, Caffey eventually distinguished herself as one of the most skilled students to ever come through the Cobra School. After 14 years of training, and despite her young age, Caffey was named as the next Cobra master to represent her village, should the current master of her village die or retire. Following her being named as the successor, Caffey set out to spread the influence and teachings of the Cobra school, as well as to defend those weaker than herself, a burning desire to do so having been ingrained in her from a young age. In addition to those goals, Caffey hopes to learn other martial arts styles to incorporate into the Cobra School, all in hopes of giving them reputation equal to that of the Turtle or Crane Schools. Having been sheltered from most of the world as long as she can remember, Caffey is excited to venture out, meet new people, enjoy new fights, and learn new things.

"Are you really leaving?” Caffey could hear one of the other students – Bere, she thought – ask from the other side of the door. “Master Almon only just granted you the successorship.” Bere had entered the school at the same time as Caffey, they’d been rivals in their younger years, before Caffey had eclipsed his skill, and they’d become close friends in the years spent together in the Cobra School.
“That’s why I’m leaving!” Caffey answered, energetic and upbeat as always. “That means that once Almon’s gone, I’ll be stuck here teaching you guys and all the new kids! I have to see the world first!” She was busying herself with packing her things, or at least the imitation of doing so. There was little that she owned, little enough that she’d be able to take it all with her in a small backpack. Still, she’d been told that most people spent a lot of time packing before leaving on a long trip, so she was making it a point to do the same.
“Still…” She heard Bere’s voice grow somber. “It’s going to be weird not having you around, you know? Besides that, imagine how the next batch of kids to come through here is going to turn out, they always come in wanting to be better than you.” That was true, Caffey knew, the new students invariably knew who Caffey was even before she introduced herself, and every last one of them had plans to surpass her before long. None had succeeded so far, but that desire, that drive to be the best of the best, was a necessary quality amongst the best martial artists, and it was true that Caffey not being around to foster it would be a loss.
Even so, she’d made up her mind. She was going to be leaving. It’s not like it would be permanent, of course, she’d always consider this place home. Having finally decided she’d spent enough time ‘packing,’ she slung the small pack over her shoulder and opened the door to find herself face to face with Bere. Offering him a wide smile, she patted his shoulder. “I’ll come back, Bere, and by the time I do, the whole world will know about the Cobra School. Think of that!” She spoke faster and faster as she went on, her excitement growing. “Think about how cool it will be for us to finally be known! I mean, by more than just the villagers. They’re great, but if I can go out there and become a big deal, and learn techniques from other schools, we can become the next big martial arts school!” Here Caffey finally had to pause to take a breath, having talked so fast she’d worn herself out.
Bere’s face broke into a wide grin at the sight of Caffey’s excitement. He’d always been the type to find enjoyment in the excitement of other people. “Alright, alright. You’re going no matter what I say. I guess I already knew that, but I had to try.” Quickly, Bere took a look around, and seemed to spot something down the hall. “Before you go, though, come with me.” Before Caffey could agree, Bere was pulling them both down the hall, in the direction he had been looking.
When they arrived in the school’s courtyard, Bere having ignored her questions the whole journey, she found almost every student of the school – save those who had just recently come in – waiting for them. Master Almon stood next to the other three Cobra Masters, holding a folded yellow garment that Caffey didn’t recognize. Slowly, the elderly man walked to her, holding the folded cloth out for her to take.
“Take this with you on your journeys, my student.” Almon said, a slight twinkle of pride and appreciation in his eyes. “Wear it, and go with the knowledge that we could choose no better representative for our school.” He pushed the cloth into Caffey’s hands; a yellow and black jacket, emblazoned with the Cobra symbol. As Caffey put it on, the gathered students began cheering, many of them wishing her well on her adventures, hoping for her safe return, and indeed a few asking her not to leave.
Overcome with emotion, all Caffey could do was break into a wide grin, her eyes watering with tears. As she said her goodbyes, she knew that whatever she went through in the outside world, she’d be returning here one day, and she’d make sure that when that day came, she would return with enough fame for the Cobra School to be known worldwide. She’d be a hero to the outside world, so that she could support the only family she had.Referred by: Kiryu
