Nodding at the Majin's response, Kiryu turned his gaze over to the three way contest. If Kiryu, who had been an underdog in more than one contest, needed a reminder to never judge a fighter simply by their power output, all he had to do was take in the scene before him. The Saiyan, Celerai, and Tiger Lily, both possessed great power. But Zaru proved himself a skilled martial artist, holding his own and inflicting damage with fighters twice as powerful than he was. Kiryu knew better than most that power was far less important than skill, and he was enjoying the hell out of seeing Zaru demonstrate that.
It looked like Ty was under a bit of pressure, so Kiryu decided he would increase the difficulty of responding to attacks, utilizing a soft, invisible ki wave to hamper her reflexes. Celerai had enlarged himself and was beginning to really lay into the others with area attacks, so Kiryu decided to interfere with his ki, sending a shock through his nervous system similar to what he had done to Vidar, making powerful attacks more difficult to take. Zaru, however, was all over the place, conserving his ki with powerful fundamental techniques. Kiryu concocted a quick spell to increase Zaru's density slightly, making him heavier than normal. Now, nearly any movement would cost him ki. Kiryu grinned to himself, looking forward to seeing how the combatants would respond to these challenges.
"All right, that should make their fight a little more interesting! Maybe next time we should deny them some of their equipment and see how that goes, eh?"
Kiryu popped his neck from left to right, blood thundering through his veins as he took in the excellent combat before him. No matter who won, Kiryu knew that they will have earned their victory, and he was going to face a heck of a choice selecting a student.

Kiryu let you a whoop, cheering at the thrilling conclusion to the three way spar. It had been a hell of a bout, and Kiryu had enjoyed watching every moment of it.
The competitors seemed battered, injured and winded to various degree, so Kiryu looked over to Nal, then cocked his head over to Ty, Zaru and Celerai's side of the ring, indicating that the Majin should follow. "Come on, let's get them back up and running," Kiryu said. With a slight effort of will, he set himself aloft, gliding over to the exhausted competitors. "Nal, you take care of the injuries, and I'll restore their ki."
Knowing that his friend would happily comply, Kiryu concentrated, sending out subtle waves of his own vast stores of energy to the competitors, restoring all of their energy to their regular levels.
"That was a great fight, all of you! I have some feedback for you, which might help you in the future. Celerai, let's start with you."
Kiryu eyed the Saiyan up and down, appraising him up close before offering his thoughts.
"Celerai. You're powerful, to be sure, and you pack a hell of a punch. But to me, it seems like you need to work on your tactics a bit. Your technique, increasing your size, was incredibly impressive. However, it seemed like after that you didn't really have a plan of attack. Well... I guess that was your plan. Attack. But you didn't formulate a plan, and kind of ping ponged from attack to attack. You also didn't manage your ki well enough, leaving you unable to defend yourself. Remember, when you start getting to this level, all the little things count. But I know that the more you battle, the more experience you get, and the more dangerous of a foe you'll become. I'd be happy to spar with you some day to help you along!
There was one more mistake you made, but, Tiger Lily made that mistake, too. Soooo... Ty."
Kiryu turned his gaze over towards Tiger Lily, looking her over with mock severity, then breaking out into a wide grin. It was hard for Kiryu to remain at all serious with her around; they were so close in age, she brought out some of his youthful exuberance.
"Damn, Ty! I can't believe how much you've grown since we last sparred! Your footwork and timing were much, much better than last time. Your ki management, mostly, was a lot better as well, though you still ran low at the end. I think we might have to figure out some low ki techniques for you to rely on in those situations. The bigger mistake that you made, though... well, the two of you kind of ignored Zaru."
At that last, Kiryu jerked his thumb over towards the bald combatant, who, despite his lack of overt power, had put on an impressive display of technique. "I know why you did it. It makes sense on paper; the two of you are much stronger, so why bother focusing on him? The fact of the matter, however, is that the two of you should have joined forces right away to crush him and knock him out of the fight, then decided the contest between each other.
There are a lot of variables there, to be sure. One of you may have betrayed the other before it was time. You may have thought it was more fair this way. But even those that don't possess as much power as we do can still inflict a lot of damage. Zaru, here, has an incredible foundation in Martial Arts. He might not possess the raw power or incredible attacks that the two of you do, but there's no more powerful maneuver than truly impeccable fundamental technique."
Kiryu then turned to Zaru, offering the monk a lopsided grin. "Now, you... you don't get an evaluation yet. Wouldn't want to give you an unfair advantage in the next match, now, would I? But I will say, well done. Reminds me of some of the fights I've had! Keep it up and you've got a real shot at this. Say, though... is your eye okay? Do we need to attend to that a bit more?"

Zaru had felt himself swing and hit, but Ty simply flew back, off the arena. Her ki began to calm, and he tried to just calm down and listen. He was so amped up and tense, he could've just socked into anyone nearby. Yet, he just had to listen. His eyes were still firmly shut, one of them seeming to slowly return to normal as the pain faded. His right eye though, seemed to keep burning and irritating him, the pain not leaving him despite how much he tried to focus on keeping it open. Seemed like he was just going to have to rest it. Now that he wasn't so amped up either, he felt the ache in his abdomen again. Zaru realised his breathing was still quite ragged, more than he expected compared to before. The martial artist finally dropped his fight stance and stood normally, forcing one eye open before he began floating off the arena, and towards where the others waited. He was still somewhat in shock that he'd actually pulled it off, even if his face never gave that away. Inexperienced or not, his opponents had both been more than powerful enough to do serious damage to him from the start. Landing where everyone had gathered, Zaru moved to a tree and fell against it to allow himself to sit, leaning his head back to try and relax a bit. He'd won, which meant he was up against one of the two cyborg-looking guys next. His eye glanced over to watch their fight as it was still going on. Although both of them seemed pretty close to losing the fight, one of them looked far worse for wear. The blonde one had an arm blown off his body, and his chest looked like he'd been hit by about four trucks at once. The fact that it was still up in the air who would win spoke to his resilience; and to the other's viciousness. Zaru wasn't looking forward to fighting either of them, really. They were no doubt as tough as Celerai and Lily; in a one on one, he had liked his chances a lot less. Zaru's eye turned back towards Kiryu when the young man began speaking about the tactics shown by those in the match. This was what he had figured. Despite looking so young, Kiryu had a foundation of formal training that he didn't have, which gave him more of an insight. Zaru might have had the fundamentals of martial arts and the experience of live and dangerous combat against opponents he couldn't overpower, but real training with a formal master, someone who really knew martial arts in and out, whether through the lens of one fighting style or another....there wasn't any substitute for it. Zaru knew that he needed to improve even further upon his fundamentals and gain more knowledge of how to fight; Kiryu was no doubt his ticket to it, it was looking like. He did his best not to feel smug as it was explained that Ty and Celerai should have teamed up on him since the start. In truth, he had expected them do it; he must have seemed like easy prey. He suspected that with one unable to trust the other, Ty had decided to take out Celerai first, not wanting him to turn against her and keeping her fundamental advantage in sheer power towards the end of the fight when she would be more worn down. It was an intelligent strategy, especially considering she looked even younger than Kiryu, but she probably hadn't counted on him being so stubborn. The bald man glanced over to Kiryu as he was now the one being talked to - although Kiryu was congratulatory about his win, he did seem to notice the eye. Zaru's other injuries had been attended to, yet it stayed closed. "I think the damage has been looked at. Just caught too many of those bright flashes - my eye burns when I open it. Only gonna heal with some rest later." Zaru slowly stood up from the tree, brushing himself off before he glanced over towards the arena, where the other fight continued. "One of those guys next, huh?" He wasn't sure who he'd prefer to face, who he might have better chances against. He doubted he'd be able to strike through the thick armour on the blonde one, and the other one, wielding a sword in a scabbard, could probably shatter his bones with the sheer force. Ah, well. Beggars couldn't be choosers, he supposed.

His mind was blank for the whole time, as he laid on the ground.. some people would think lifeless? He wasn't dead, that for sure, but once he peaked opened his eyes, everything came to his mind. He had just remembered that he lost tournament, and that he was punched in the throat. He wasn't amused by this, but at the same time, he wasn't angry. All that was in his mind at the moment was..
What a fight. That was probably the hardest one I've ever been in. Ty was attacking me, and me only. While I was trying to throw a few attacks at both of them. Turns out I used up to much ki, and I wasn't able to guard.
He decided to stay on the ground, with his eyes open, and there was anything that came to his mind.
If I lost, that means.. I can't train with Kiryu at all. Will I ever see the guy again? Wha-.
His thought was then interrupted when Kiryu started talking, saying that it was a great fight. Celerai wasn't exactly watching the other match, so he know of it was ok. Once Kiryu approached him, he got up from the ground, and once did so, he staggered for a few moments and held his throat. Once Kiryu began to compliment him about his performance and started to give him some tips guidelines for future fights, he listened attentively. Once Kiryu distinctly said that he would be happy to spar with the Saiyan, he said
"Oh, thank you. You've made my day. I'm gonna be honest.. I know it was a free for all fight between Ty, Zaru and I but, I kinda wondered why Ty ignored Zaru. I've never actually been in a three way free for all fight, so that might be the reason why I didn't know how to conserve my ki too well. I look forward to our spar. Oh and uhh.. my throat. I got hit in the throat in the fight, and it's been hurting me ever since."
Once Kiryu was finished talking to Ty, Celerai approached her saying
"Hey, Ty. That was a good fight. But I might advise you.. to pay attention to both opponents instead of one. I look forward to fighting you someday."
And finally, once Kiryu was finished talking to Zaru, Celerai went to him saying
"Hey man, uhh.. your eyes don't look so good. I'm so happy that you've won, now.. you can take this opportunity to better yourself, make yourself stronger. It seems like you'll be fighting one of those guys over there. Say, I would like to spar with you sometime, are you up for that?"
He was tired himself, so he sat beside the bald headed martial artist. He'll be hanging around here for a while. He'll be here to cheer for Zaru.

Tiger Lily was the least wounded, part of her expended ki pool was a result of avoiding damage rather than delivering, and she was not the only one since Celerai avoided injury to an extent until Zaru made himself known. While she wanted to explain to Kiryu that she felt some kind of primal urge to take on Celerai first, she quickly realized she would have to ask Cayle about it first, because it sounded absurd. It had been only a few months since she discovered the truth about being half saiyan after being lied to by her parents growing up as a human. Unknown to her, it was her saiyan blood that forced her to feel challenged by another of her race, but there was no explanation for it at present, and she could not begin to explain it with so many strangers around. As far as she could tell, it might be from reading Celerai’s ki signature, or simply by his scent as strange as that sounded in her thought process. Even now she was seriously staring at the male saiyan apart from the other martial artists until she felt her ki restored by the teenage magus shifted her attention.
“I have been practicing techniques controlling my ki but even that has a limit...so I can only keep on learning from observation and growing as a result. I honestly did not know what to expect, there is hardly any time to think about all the possibilities, but I wish I could see it all from your point of view, Kiryu. This was the first time I have been in a free for all, so I must admit it’s difficult for me to divide my attention, and I understand that I need to work on that.”
As the others were given pointers, feedback, and treatment of their wounds the orange haired teenager wandered off towards a coconut tree. She flew up picking two coconuts, she sliced the top off to drink the juice from one before repeating the same to the other one, to rehydrate. The coconut palms were able to grow on the sand due to the large lake, it tasted different from an island variety, and she figured she should harvest some to bring back home. After she had her fill, she approached the group again, and held an entire cluster in her hand.
“Hey, do you guys want some coconuts? They are filled with natural electrolytes to stay hydrated...although not everyone is keen to the taste. I suppose you can assume it tastes like sweat to be quite honest. However, it tastes a bit woody to me, and I doubt I taste like one.”

"Hey, I definitely won't say no to coconuts! Can never get enough of electrolytes. It's the stuff that plants crave. But..."
Kiryu reached into a pouch at his waste, then pulled out a capsule. Clicking the top, he dropped it to the ground, and out came...
A fully loaded bar cart, complete with a standalone sink, small refrigerators that held various fruits, juices and mixes, dozens of alcohols and liqueurs, and, most importantly right now, a battery loaded blender.
"May as well get my electrolytes from a pina colada, right?"
As he spoke, Kiryu prepared some of the ingredients that would be necessary. Clear and dark rum, of course. There were pineapples already sliced, as well as maraschino cherries ready to go. Kiryu put several other accouterments in his preparation area; a metal scoop, measuring cups (just in case, though he was experienced enough that he normally eyeballed his cocktails), maple syrup, filtered water, and a bit of salt. Accepting a coconut from Tiger Lily, Kiryu deftly struck the shell with the edge of his hand, utilizing just enough force to split the exterior without damaging the meat of the fruit inside. He pulled it apart from the seam, halving the coconut with ease.
Utilizing the scoop, Kiryu adroitly scooped out the coconut, both halves, placing the meat onto a cutting board and leaving the husks empty for a moment. For his next step, he did utilize a measuring implement, portioning out four cups of the scooped coconut into the waiting blender. Kiryu added in about five cups of water, as well as two tablespoons of maple syrup and one tablespoon of vanilla extract, combining all the ingredients in the blender.
"Fresher is always better," he explained, shrugging and grinning at the gathered fighters. "I hope you weren't expecting me to be some curmudgeonly old master on the mountain with a strict diet of fish, rice and water. Life's too short not to enjoy a fruity cocktail from time to time, you know?"
Kiryu powered on the blender, and let it run for approximately two minutes. After that, he stopped the blender, judging that it had mixed together well enough. He opened the lid, dipping in a spoon to sample the mixture, and smiled. "Perfect. Nothing like some fresh coconut milk for a drink like this!" At that, Kiryu retrieved a bowl and a fine mesh strainer. Kiryu strained the contents of the blender into the bowl, removing any pulpy chunks of coconut from the mixture.
Kiryu wasted no time rinsing the blender in the sink, and then, it was time to utilize it once more.
Kiryu poured what he estimated to be three ounces of clear rum into the blender. He followed that up with an ounce and a half of hazelnut liqueur, then added in four ounces of pineapple juice and four ounces of the fresh coconut milk. He threw in several scoops of ice from the refrigerator, then ran the blender again. After a minute, he turned it off, opening the lid and shaking the blender a bit to check the consistency. It was just right; not too fluid and not too thick.
Grinning with exuberance, Kiryu poured part of the mixture into one of the coconut husks, garnishing the edge of it with a slice of pineapple... and, of course, no pina colada would be complete without a brightly colored umbrella sticking out of it, so he retrieved that from a pack and placed it in. Finally, he floated a bit of dark rum on the top, for that final bit of flair.
"Anyone else? There's more than enough to go around!"
Kiryu put a straw in his beverage and sampled it, sighing contentedly at the expertly made cocktail. Then, he settled in to watch the remainder of Riku and Vidar's bout.
Several minutes passed, and the two androids were nothing short of incredible, striking each other with attacks that, had their opponent been completely organic, would have caused Kiryu to disqualify them for lethal force. Still, Kiryu cheered their incredible display, jubilant hollering echoing from him like he was ringside at the greatest fight of all time. Finally, however, Vidar could take no more. Riku nobly caught Vidar as he fell, and Kiryu propelled himself forward, sudden concern etched onto his features. They had truly gone all out in an incredible display, and Kiryu immediately began pumping ki into Vidar.
"Nal! I need your help!"
Without waiting for his companion, Kiryu used his magic to summon an item from his pocket dimension. It was a potion made from dried senzu root, a quasi mystical plant that had incredible restorative properties. He unstopped the phial and poured it into Vidar's mouth. The liquid would have an immediate effect, healing the most severe of Vidar's injuries and allowing Nal to work on some of the more complex bits. Truthfully, Kiryu wasn't entirely certain how Vidar's altered physiognomy would reach to any sort of ki technique or mystical healing, so he was going to defer to Nal's expertise.
Once Vidar was out of immediate danger, Kiryu turned over to Riku, extending a hand and offering some of his own ki to the samurai. Kiryu briefly drew from his own reserves; he was using quite a bit of power to assist these fatigued combatants. If he had been in battle himself, he could never have afforded to do so. It would have left him too drained to compete, but he did not betray any fatigue at the moment.
"Well... I don't really have any criticism for either of you! That was one hell of a battle, and honestly, it seems like it could have gone either way. The cards just happened to fall with Riku this time. Excellent bout, the both of you... which means that the final will feature Riku and Zaru! I'm going to switch things up a bit, but first, take a few minutes. Heal up, get your wind back... maybe have one of my tasty cocktails if you fancy a drink! And then, we'll get this show on the road."

Nal, frankly, zoned out for a while, listening, observing and generally trying to find one thing and person to focus on, but with so many duelists and so many duels there (or tri-uels? How is a duel with three people even called?) that she could definitely not find just one to watch, instead catching snippets of all and trying to read the rest from energy sensing alone. It went better than expected, actually.
Then, she was asked for help! Finally! The majin grinned widely. "Right!" - she said, hopping to the centre of the arena, clearing her throat. "Hey, guys, look here!" - and as she said that, the majin's body reshaped itself - to get wider, more buff, with plenty muscles - not absurdly many, though. And then, she flexed them, showing off - then again, changing poses every once a while, giving them a little show. And whether they were impressed or not, her green aura was - and each flex emitted a pulse of arcane energy, the green aura emanating and seeping into the wounds of the combatants, regenerating them with each tick. All of them at the same time. Such was the power of the flex!
Once done, the majin returned to her small, lithe shape with a wide grin. "Well, if anyone is still hurt, come here! I have more ways I can help with. I also have some special healing for the most wounded! And energy to share. And candy. I have all sorts of candy - gums, hard candies, wafer balls with filling and what not. And don't worry - I'll use that power to be annoying to you in the next round too."
With that said, the majin grinned and took off into the sky - and rushed towards the cart with drinks. Now that everyone had some, she would try this pina colada thing too!

Riku felt relief that the battle was over as he clamped off some of the hydraulic lines in Vidar's arm until they could get it properly repaired. He felt bad for the damage he had caused, but figured that the arm might have had a hidden flaw, and it was better that it had been exposed in a spar with a friend then against a true enemy. He nodded gratefully to Kiryu after he poured a potion down Vidar's throat, "Thank you, Kiryu. We perhaps got slightly out of hand, but he will be fine with a little care." Riku accepted the gift of ki that was offered by the wizard and gave him a respectful bow, "Again, you have my thanks. Let me help Vidar out of the ring and rest for a few moments, and I will be ready to proceed."
Riku waited for his friend to come around and then helped Vidar get to his feet as he said, "Take it easy, Vidar. Let's go up here and you can sit by the bar and take your ease for a while. We'll get you a new arm attached soon, I pinched off the oil and hydraulic lines for you." He would support him under his remaining arm if he was unsteady and guide him up to the bar to grab a seat.
He then looked over the bar offerings and poured himself a pina colada. He took a sip and almost winced... it was a bit too sweet for his taste. He added a generous splash of dark rum and a little coconut milk to the drink and swirled it about. He took another drink and found the sweetness at a much more manageable level. He turned and raised an eyebrow at Vidar, "Want something to drink, my friend? Let me know and I'll get you something."
He settled in to rest and recover, sipping his drink as he took in the winner of the other match. Zaru was his name... he hadn't seen much of the man's fight since he had been concentrating on his own... but he must be pretty mighty if he had come out on top in the three way battle. He decided to shoot the rest of his drink down to prepare for the match... this man looked like a human... he ran his scanners to check...
Scanning... Subject: Human Male Approximate Power Level: 5700
He didn't appear overly powerful... he must be grounded with very strong technique and long hours of practice. Interesting; he was probably going to be a very dangerous man one day... if he wasn't already. He located his pack pulled another layer of padding from it, securing it with a series of knots and crossed twine; he didn't want a repeat of what had happened with Vidar... though he supposed broken bones were a possibility. He finished his modification and gave it a few test swings, then launched into a complicated practice kata... it stayed put. He nodded, satisfied with the work and walked over to the young bald man. He held out his hand to give a warrior's shake, "Best of luck to you in the coming battle, Zaru. May the gods of battle bless us both." [541/1885]

The final two blows from Riku had been more than enough. In fact, those two powerful blows would have possibly killed a fully organic man, a much weaker man. But, instead, all they did was knock the blonde cyborg for a loop. He was already partially kneeling on the ground when the blows came raining down on him, he had no chance to stand, and when they hit, all he could do was fall. He didn't see or feel the cyborg samurai nobly catch him. He didn't see the concern that crossed Kiryu's face. He didn't see the way the game master rushed to the stage to make sure that the cyborg did not breathe his last, nor hear him call for his comrade for help. He saw and heard and felt nothing. His body had gone into an emergency shut down. That did not mean that he was dead, his heart was still beating, it had to be ; the mechanical heart and his infinite energy generator would keep him alive. However, he was so drained, so beaten down, that he may as well look dead.
One of his arms was in shattered pieces on the broken tile floor several feet away. His chest was exposed and the metal cybernetic augmentations that covered it were battered. His flesh was wounded, bruised, and bleeding. But he was alive.
The emergency shut down felt different to the cyborg than it looked to everyone else. He felt as if he were floating in a void of nothing. He was hovering within a void within his mind. All the while, as he floated there, he could think back on the battle that he had just finished.
He was weak. His systems were outdated. His guidance system was poor. His attacks weren't strong enough. He wasn't fast enough. His defenses were poor. There were so many ways that he could nitpick at his own shortcomings. It almost weighed on him.
How could he do anything to protect the Earth in this state? How could he battle against the forces of darkness, those that would harm the planet and her people, if he could not even best a single cyborg samurai in a friendly battle? The snake woman was right, he would just be going out there to die.
It was a crushing defeat.
Riku had bested him in every way; his final strategy, his final attempt to win the battle, was met with failure. He had missed. The barrage of bullets were ducked and the samurai laid him out. Now, all he could do was hover within his own mind, as his body slowly began to repair itself; at least the cybernetic portions of his body.
As energy was poured into his body from Kiryu, and he was fed restoratives, his organic parts began to heal. The wounds he had been inflicted were healing quickly, visibly, and soon he was no longer bleeding. His breathing returned to normal. His heart beat returned to normal, and his eyes slowly opened.
INITIATING REBOOT... INITIATING... 10%...25%...50%...75%...100%... REBOOTING...
His eyes had opened and the soft golden glow of his scanners flickered then returned as his eyes appeared to regain a level of consciousness to them. He peered around. He was being carried out of the ring by Riku, held in the samurai's arms, allowed to lean against him somewhat.
"I hope... I am not too heavy..." He muttered to the samurai as he was helped off the tournament stage where he suffered a rather brutal and crushing defeat. His eyes lingered on his broken arm, the shattered pieces, and the broken tiles that were scattered throughout the tournament stage. "I will need... major upgrades... if I am to be of any use to anyone." He looked at the drink that was offered to him. He had never drank before and his scanners swept over the beverage.
SCANNING... PINA COLADA... The Piña Colada is a sweet cocktail. It is usually made with rum, cream of coconut or coconut milk, and pineapple juice. The beverage is usually served either blended or shaken with ice. It may be garnished with either a pineapple wedge, maraschino cherry, or both.
At least, that is the information that his HUD managed to dig up on the subject.
"Thank you," he attempted to stand on his own two feet, somewhat feeling a bit wobbly still but he managed to do it. He took the glass politely and after a few more seconds of looking at the glass, he brought it up to his lips and took a sip.
The cold hit him first. The drink was very cold. It washed down into his lips in a chilly wave. Then he felt the dull burning of the alcohol hitting him, it burned on the way down and he looked at the beverage as he had downed half of the glass's contents with several deep swigs.
"Is this supposed to taste like that?" He held the glass up. His cheeks already turning a soft rosy color as he asked, his words almost sounding slurred as he asked the question.
The cyborg had never imbibed alcohol before, and this particular concoction was hitting him rather hard. Perhaps due to having no tolerance of alcohol in his system? That was a possibility. The other being that he was an utter lightweight to the fire water.

Kiryu returned the bow to Riku. "Think nothing of it. I would do this for anyone, and you two made the blood thunder in my veins with that display. This is the least I can offer. And take your time, we will begin when you're ready."
Pleased that the injured android was recovering so rapidly, Kiryu turned a fierce grin towards Vidar, chuckling a bit. Kiryu remembered his first sip of alcohol, when he was a young teenager and had broken into his father's stash as a way of experimenting... and coping with the constant pain of his training. Kiryu's father had not been abusive, but he had been strict. The man had laid the foundation for Kiryu to be a powerful, disciplined warrior, a force for good in the world... but Kiryu had had a hard time of it, especially when going through puberty and dealing with the changes his body was experiencing. Alcohol had been an effective painkiller... and then it had been a problem. One that he learned he could mitigate through the use of ki to purge the toxins in his body. None of that was a topic of conversation for the moment, though, and Kiryu raised a playful eyebrow at the cyborg.
"You mean like slightly burning fruit? Yup! That's that 'acquired taste' that people like to talk about. On that note...
Vidar, that was one hell of a show. You've got some growth to do, and I would suggest investing in some defensive techniques. Even so, the amount of damage you were able to pump out was impressive as hell. I can't wait to see what you can do with a little more training. I'd be happy to help you along, if you ever want to spar... you too, Celerai.
But for now, let's get to our main even, shall we?"
Kiryu exerted his will, then, and rose into the air. Power gathered around him, strange and alien, perceptible more as an alteration of the fabric of reality than an explosion of spiritual or life energy. Concentrating, Kiryu extended a hand, and called upon the well of magical power that was available to him. Directing it's flows, Kiryu sent the magic towards the arena that he created. The stone-like material rippled and shifted, transforming from a large square arena to a circular one. Kiryu also transformed the transparent wall that had divided the arena, and that was perhaps more dramatic. He 'broke' the wall into dozens of smaller segments, and also altered the transparency, instead causing the material to become opaque. Some of the segments, Kiryu set vertically, and they formed lengths of wall about eight feet high. They were all of varied lengths, and Kiryu set them about in a random pattern. The rest of the segments, Kiryu mystically commanded to rise into the air, and he set them about horizontally. Utilizing the same spell he had used in South City to levitate platforms for evacuation purposes, Kiryu essentially 'tied off' the magic around these makeshift platforms so that they would hover in the air without any requirement for input for him. It resembled nothing so much as an intense parkour themed paintball arena. Satisfied with his work, Kiryu glanced down at the competitors.
"I thought it would be fun to change this up a bit. No more boring ring; you can utilize the terrain to your advantage, maybe. But... well, it's not going to be as easy as it was last time. I'm going to be a little more mean to you. Plus..."
Kiryu trailed off with a grin.
"Some of your fellow competitors may have wished that the fight had gone a bit differently. They might have a little frustration to work out. I just might let them take a swipe at you from time to time.
Because in a real battle we don't always get to decide the rules of engagement.
That's about it! Hop to it, you two. Bring us home with style!"

Okay! Riku and Bronzy, begin the thread. Start it as normal, roll initiatives there. Other competitors, normal rules apply; for every round of combat you may make one post. Kiryu may request that one of you attack one or the other of them during their contest; if so, do so here, complete with RP post, and I will present the effects in their spar thread.

He sat there, in pain. His throat was still affecting him and everyone was there, having fun. He saw Nal roaming around the area, and even though he wanted to approach her, he decided not to. Then he remembered something. There was this one day after his work, he was walking down the half crowded road, when he saw a bird.. an injured bird. He picked it up, and started to pet it, and soon after, some neon green energy appeared around his hands. The bird had a really bad wound, and to Celerai's surprise, the bird's wound closed in a few seconds. Celerai actually realized that the only person he saw using that technique was.. Nal.
Why didn't I think about that?
He looked at his hand for a few moments, and then he laid it on his throat, only to feel the pain leaving his neck.
"Oh my. I actually did it."
He got up, as good as new, stretching and once he heard Nal offering to give out candy and some aid, he took the opportunity to talk to her and approached her saying
"Hey Nal, I guess I could eat some candy. It's been a long while since I've had candy actually. The last time I ate some candy was when.. uhh.. oh yes, that day when I met Zam. I heard that you're both friends."
"I should probably inform you, Nal.. I observed most of the techniques that you performed in our spar, and after sometime, I've developed ways to do them.. by myself. Like flying. I didn't exactly know how to fly.. well.. not until I saw you flying. Also, how to heal myself. I don't know, it just happened. I could help you with healing the competitors.. if you want.. and uhh.. oh yes, that Giant form thingy, I ended up learning that a few days after our spar. You see, I kinda train by myself, and to be honest, it has been kinda boring."
"Remember when you were looking for Kiryu, when we first met? There was some stuff that was going through my mind at that time. I wanted to help you find him actually, and after that, we could've fought each other, like a spar. A three way spar. I don't know if you might be interested right now. So, how has it been since we last met?"
He then headed over to the bar, to get some water, and he sat on one of the seats. Once he was finished with his glass of water, he sighed and turned around, to look at the finalist of the tournament. Obviously, Zaru was one of those finalists, and the other finalist's name was Riku. The area looked different.. way different. This was the power that Celerai wanted to go up against.. one that is challenging, and make him better at fighting, and last but not least, to make him stronger. Once he heard Kiryu talking about the rules of this fight.. well.. there were no rules exactly, but.. the competitors that were knocked out had the permission to just throw random attacks at them. Celerai.. didn't exactly know what to say. But, once he thought of it as a way of training himself and the competitors that were fighting, he said
"Oh, ok. I'll keep that in mind. I'd die just sitting here without doing anything."
It was after a few moments, when the fight actually began, with both fighters clashing with each other and their auras burst to life. It wasn't exactly time for Celerai to throw a random attack on the fight, so he just strolled around, and then approached Kiryu saying
"Hey Kiryu. I'm really looking forward to our spar, but I was just thinking.. why don't we just have a fight for third place, just for the fun of it. There doesn't have to be a prize for the winner, but it would be entertaining."

He was bored, really bored. It was time for some action. Yes, Celerai has been watching the fight, and has been great. They were two great fighters, that were battling it out, for the win. But.. Celerai couldn't help himself.
"Kiryu, I'm gonna head in now."
Without giving Kiryu a chance to answer, he flew up in the air, with his aura flaring up around him. He hovered in the air for a few moments, trying to look for the perfect moment to attack, and once he saw the bald headed martial artist panting and talking to his opponent, he got ready to attack. It wouldn't be fun to just creep up on his opponent, so..
"Zaru! Here I come!"
He basically homed in on his target, swooping down like an eagle trying to catch its prey. Once he got close enough, he swung his leg at Zaru's back, but.. his leg literally went through air. He missed.
"Wow, you're pretty good. Ok, I just stopped by to say good luck to both of you."
With that said, he leaped off yet again, and landed beside Kiryu. He turned to him and shrugged saying
"Well, I guess I tried."

After finishing a couple more coconuts the reserved were used to make drinks for the much older fighters. The pungent smell reminded her of the time she was being dared to drink liquor by a crowd of university students at a party until Kiryu interfered claiming she was under age. With a recent birthday, she was still not partial to the drink, she occupied her time and diet to improve as a fighter. While everyone was relaxing watching the fight between Zaru and Riku intensified on the arena. Without a word the magus motioned his green eyes over in gesture with a tilt of his head to interfere with the fight. It was not her nature to get involved in a battle between men but this was part of Kiryu’s special training in a non traditional tournament. The teenager was thankful that she had learned so much from this experience and if the only way to repay it was to interfere then that is what she had to do.
Celerai went first, swiping at Zaru, but it seemed like he missed the mark. In order to make up for it she utilized her special technique, a cherry bomb that was as small as one, that exploded into a blinding light.
After she released it she returned to the sidelines noticing that Vidar was moving strangely. “Hi. My name is Tiger Lily. Are you feeling alright? You took quite the beating.”

His defeat had been crushing. Had he really stood a chance in that fight? As he stood there, slightly swaying like a blade of grass at the mercy of the wind, the alcohol hitting him in waves again and again - he was now also a stone on the shore being battered by the alcohol ocean's onslaught - he thought back to the match between Riku and himself. It had gone badly. From start to finish, it had gone badly. Sure, there were a few spots where a tiny glimmer of hope had presented itself; he had managed to land two attacks, maybe three - at that point he was having a hard time recalling a few things, perhaps it was the alcohol, perhaps it was the final two blows to the head - but they didn't do anywhere near enough to win him the match. Now, there he stood. He was a broken mess.
Sure, his body was no longer wounded, bruised, or bleeding. His mechanical cybernetic augmentations were in shambles. His exposed chest plate was bent and warped in places, and one of his arms had been completely destroyed, shattered to pieces and had to be detached entirely.
His HUD kept throwing error messages at him, even as he stood there and attempted to ignore them, it became increasingly impossible to. Others may not hear them but he heard the soft buzzing alarms in the back of his head.
WARNING. WARNING. WARNING. Extreme Damage to ...
And it listed off every single component which was damaged, destroyed and in need of replacement, or in desperate need of upgrades. Yes, he had begun running self-diagnostics since the moment he was knocked out in the ring. It was a sub-process, to gather as much info as he could on how and why he had been so soundly beaten. How he had stood no chance. Doctor Kringle had worked on improving him for years, and this is the end result? Beaten like a dog and left gimp and drunk and wallowing in pity?
He frowned and looked at the floor, it was slightly swaying but so was he so it was fine. He guessed.
What could he have done differently that would have improved his chances? Well, he could have possibly upgraded himself before he left the lab. That was mistake number one. He had failed to search for upgrades while leaving the lab. So, perhaps he would do that. When all this was said and done, he would return to the lab and find his upgrades, if any remained, and if any of them were any better than what he had been built with (or to be more precise and more accurate, restructured with) and was currently equipped with.
Now, there was another warning.
WARNING. WARNING. WARNING. SELF DIAGNOSIS INDICATES HIGH LEVELS OF INTOXICATION.
"Damage... Yes. I did produce quite an amount of it; unfortunately, most of it hit air." He commented, though he did nod, "I am in need of upgrading. Perhaps that would improve my chances next time." There was a tiny hint of hope in his voice, not like he sounded depressed, he was more contemplative than depressed. "I failed this time but I will not next time. There is no shame in loss. Only learning."
WARNING. WARNING. WARNING. SELF DIAGNOSIS INDICATES HIGH LEVELS OF INTOXICATION.
Yes, Vidar got it. He was drunk. It was kind of hard not to notice. He was flush in the face, he was swaying ever so slightly, just off to the side, his shoulders slumped, his head drooped, as he attempted to find somewhere to sit.
Finding a place to sit down, he heard someone speak to him. He peered over and saw a woman. His scanners flickering to life as he scanned over her.
SCANNING....SCANNING....
CREATE FILE? ... Y / N. Y... CREATING FILE... TIGER_LILY.
He took photos of the concerned young woman, samples of her voice, her measurements, and dropped as much data into the file in those milliseconds as possible.
"I am quite damaged. But I will be alright with repair. Perhaps I'll return to the lab and find a way to upgrade my systems. Riku was quite the opponent. However, now that I am aware of my shortcomings, I'll prepare for next time."

Kiryu smiled over at Vidar, clearly favoring his reply.
"You know, I have always thought that we learn far more from a defeat than an easy victory. Our flaws are exposed, our current limitations made clear. It can be humbling, but with the proper mindset, it is enlightening and instructive and far more valuable an experience.
That said, I happen to have some friends in the desert near here. They've been working on all sorts of tech for Capsule Corp for years, and they might have a couple of ideas for some interesting advancements for someone like you. No pressure, but I would be happy to put you into contact with them if you like."
Hearing Celerai's request, Kiryu turned his gaze to the Saiyan fighter. He quirked an eyebrow and offered a lopsided grin, then shook his head gently.
"I get what you are saying, and in truth, I admire your warrior's spirit. That said, you've already been through quite a contest. Nal and I have restored a bit of your ki and vitality, enough, at least, to be functional, but that is no substitute for proper rest. Allowing your body to recuperate and heal are important parts of training. If you just go go go all the time, your muscles and tendons will break down. Your body won't be able to keep the constant work going and you will weaken yourself. So for now, I don't think a pitched battle is in the best interests of those of you that have already been injured or exhausted enough to be eliminated.
That said.."
Kiryu's grin turned mischievous.
"I think you have a little more in you. Tiger Lily? Celerai? Let's go ahead and make their lives a little more interesting. Take your best shot. Light them up!"
Kiryu joined in as Ty and Celerai powered up and launched a few more attacks. The contest between Zaru and Riku was heating up, with the two flickering back and forth, launching powerful attacks with such alacrity that a baseline human would likely not have been able to track them. Kiryu tracked every punch, watched every dodge and counter, and he summoned forth his magic, inflicting deleterious spells on both combatants as Tiger Lilly and Celerai lashed out. Despite that, both Zaru and Riku soldiered on, dealing with the effects of Kiryu's magic and avoiding the attacks that were sent their way.
Kiryu chuckled, mostly to himself. They had made this an impossible choice... and he was going to have to reward them.
Kiryu's eyes widened and he gasped audibly as their incredible contest came to it's inexorable conclusion. Riku had expended too much of his abilities, and had left himself unable to defend Zaru's final counter attack. Kiryu could only watch and wince as Riku suffered a compound fracture, his collarbone breaking through his flesh as he did nothing to defend himself from Zaru's attack.
Zaru, to his credit, ceased the offensive as soon as Riku lost consciousness. He secured Riku's form and called for help, but Kiryu and Nal were already moving. Kiryu sent ki out to both men, cleary tired from their competition, and Nal began the act of healing Riku. Her arts were impressive; before Kiryu's very eyes, the snapped, jagged, gore tipped bone retreated back into Riku's flesh, knitted back together, and the flesh over was swiftly healed. Many of Riku's other injuries were lessened, but healing all of his hurts at once would have put an incredible toll on his system. Healing his most grievous hurts, and letting his body heal the rest over his time, was going to get Riku back into fighting, and training, shape in the shortest amount of possible.
And Kiryu knew that both he and Zaru were going to get some rather intense workouts in the very near future.
Kiryu turned to the rest of the competitors, and beckoned them forward. Kiryu didn't want to move Zaru or Riku much at the moment. When the gathered competitors made their way to Kiryu's makeshift arena, Kiryu ensured Riku had regained consciousness and wasn't in a large amount of pain, and then spoke.
"AND WE HAVE A WINNER! Zaru came out on top... and I hope that this is a valuable lesson for you all. Never discount the weakest person. They can still have a whole hell of a lot of skill, and strong basics can give even the most advanced opponents fits.
And I am happy to officially accept Zaru as my Disciple.
I am also happy to officially accept Riku as my Disciple."
Kiryu would shrug off any surprised expression with a shrug and charming smile.
"I have to say, that was one of the most fun fights I have seen in quite some time! I liked what I saw from both of you throughout the tournament, and I feel like not only do you both have great potential and approach combat the right way, but you two could develop into fantastic rivals for one another... and the two of you together might even be able to push me, which could only benefit all three of us.
We'll take a few days here. I grew up nearby. You two can heal up, and then we can head to the South Islands. I have... there's something I have to do, there. The two of you might be vital in assisting, but if we can get done what I want to accomplish, we can find one hell of a base... and the experience will be good for the both of you."
Kiryu then nodded to the others.
"As for the rest of you... well done, all of you. I would be proud to count you all as allies and friends. If you ever find yourselves in the South Islands, you can consider yourselves as possessing a standard invitation to stay at my base and train with me. And if any of you ever need any assistance, well, I'll give you my number. I can teleport, so I'm just a text away."
To anyone that was interested, Kiryu offered his mobile number. Afterwards, his eyebrows shot towards his hairline and he adopted a gormless expression.
"Now, you all didn't think that I would let any of you leave empty handed, did you?"
Kiryu snapped his fingers and, in front of every person there, save himself, a small chest appeared.
"I've had some... pretty crazy experiences. I've fought magical entities below the skin of the earth, fought giant flying kaiju sharks... collected practically mythical items. I've come across some treasures in my journeys. You've all earned some of them. I'm not quite sure what I have summoned for you; they're from a magical, extra dimensional space, and I haven't had time to inventory them all... but why not trust to fate just a bit, eh? Take them, along with my thanks... but don't think that this is the end of the road.
You all proved yourselves not only capable fighters, but people of integrity. I think you proved that you are all people I can count on. I hope that you will all accept my offer and that we can spar together some time sooner rather than later, and that if you need me, you reach out. All too often, those that become strong do so for the wrong reasons. I'm lucky that I met you all. Be safe, and may the wind be ever at your backs."
