Konja shut her locker as she finished changing into her regular clothes. The strange black attire she'd taken from the beautiful corpse that the Tuffles had left in that abandoned bunker wasn't a perfect fit, exposing her belly as its previous owner was small, but it was otherwise very comfortable. The fact that it occasionally gave her hints that it was alive, communicating through feeling, was an interesting experience in itself, though learning to read its projected emotions wasn't really much help in dealing with people. After all, they were the opposite. People relayed their feelings with varying degrees of skill, relying on words to convey ideas instead. Feeling in the tone of their voice was a secondary matter. This outfit on the other hand conveyed its feelings perfectly, but it could not articulate its ideas in speech. How this might affect the way she viewed conversation in the future was uncertain. It might be a while before she could make any sense of it. Right now, though, it was feeling particularly relieved that it had been liberated from the cold dark recesses of Konja's locker. That being said, whenever she wore it, she just seemed to have more energy, and she'd be a fool not to notice that it held its own reservoir of ki. Whoever wove this set of clothes must have been one of great power... The yam farmer turned cashier put what few things she had to bring home into the little backpack she brought with her. It wasn't quite the same as her pickle jar, which had so much more space to fill, but the rear of the restaurant was tight enough without a cylinder the size of a large coffin blocking the way. It had been explained to her that this building plan was as efficient as possible, neither too wasteful of space nor too sparing. And in the time she spent here, she'd come to agree with that assessment. There was always just enough room to move around. To bring in the pickle jar would ruin that entirely. And so, it remained at home, while she made do with this small bag and the locker that was assigned to her. Her shift was over, and she had just finished preparing Achido's order of tacos earlier. No doubt, he was probably waiting for her out front already. This martial artist was curious, taking everything in with excitement. She would have to learn more about him as the day went on, that was for sure. Perhaps this spar that they were to get into soon would tell her more about him. Konja stepped out of the staff only exit and into the employee's parking lot behind the restaurant. There would be a number of other hours before it closed down for the night, but today was one of the better days, with a few hundred customers gracing the establishment during her shift. When it came to learning the basic principles of the employment, Taco King was a fine microcosm of the economy to examine. Of course since it was the only work she had, then she would have to make do with what was available. This cashier job would be only the first of many. That much, she was certain of. She made her way around to the front of the restaurant to see if Achido was already outside. If not, she'd go in the front door and see if he had gone inside for some reason or another. After Achido helped Ty put the finishing touches on their treehouse, the teenager remembered that he had promised a spar with Konja. Ty was off with Cayle probably training as usual, so Achido had the treehouse all to himself. With a energy drink in one hand and his eyes upon the television, he quickly shook off the small trance the TV had him in, then he stood to his feet, and walked out to the balcony of the treehouse. "Ty was right when she said I should focus more on training. Maybe Konja can help motivate me." He muttered to himself, as he began to slowly descend down from the large tree.
Once the teenager made it to the bottom of the tree, he walked to his bike, hopped up on, then gave it a quick kick. The engine roared to life once more, before Achido decided to cruise off at a reasonable speed. With the wind against his face and the sun shining brightly above, Achido couldn't have felt better about the plans for his day. Konja was a very nice woman with many different skills, and this was something that the teenager had learned to appreciate. Every single person Achido has come across, has taught him something important about life or fighting. It was something he cherished very much.
With Achido leaving the jungle that leads to Ty's and his treehouse, the city was in view once more. A slight smile rose over his face, then he pulled the throttle back and drove off into the city streets. The teenager remembered exactly where Taco King was, so that was his current destination to see if Konja was off of work yet. Just when the human saw the building up, he noticed Konja walking toward the front of Taco King. The teenager floored it until he neared the building, then slid the bike sideways into the parking spot right out front. "And to think that I was going to be late!" He called out to Konja before she could open the door to Taco King.

It didn't take long for Konja to hear the familiar hum of Achido's motorcycle engine as he pulled up behind her. She wasn't really much of a stickler for time, but she really did appreciate the teen's seemingly impeccable timing as he arrived just as she got off work. As soon as he called out, her feet did a quick pivot learned way back during her militia days, and in that quick snap, she found herself facing the bike, which had taken the closest parking slot, and its rider. "Perfect timing, I see!" The yam farmer turned cashier reached for her backpack and pulled out the takeout box of what she has over the days, deemed his favourite, the Taco King Platter. After all, it was a nice balanced microcosm of what the establishment had to offer. But on the off side that he wanted to try something new, she would occasionally also box in a serving of a quesadilla, tostada, empanada, or tamale on the side. Today, it was the latter. A fascinating little curiosity that she figured might catch his interest. Tossing the box over in his direction - something of a habit by now, Konja made her way to the bike and slipped over behind the teenager like it was the most natural thing in the world. She'd seen it on TV, after all, how a second rider would take their spot behind the first. Fishing her helmet out from her backpack, she slipped it on and gave him the thumbs up. "I'm all ready here. Now, it's your turn to show me what your home looks like."After all, they'd practised a couple days for the ice carving contest in her garage - actually space provided to her by the generous proprietor of Taco King - a section of the warehouse where the Saiyan refugees were staying at the time. And while they didn't win the grand prize in the end, they still had an amazing trip to this Oolong City and had a lot of fun with the ice, especially when the difference between Earthling and Plantian farm animals became apparent. At least they still managed to get their hands on a fair amount of zeni, a quarter of the grand prize, to be precise. That was more than enough for her to invest in some means to earn an income. Now that that was done with, she would like to see what this 'dojo' looked like. As usual, the TV had provided some idea of what a dojo looked like, but she understood that each was unique, reflecting generations of training by the various schools and families who owned them. For Achido's family dojo, it would certainly be its own thing, and it was that surprise that she looked forward to. WC: 464/1048 Achido

Achido couldn't help but smile wide when Konja pulled out a box of treats for them. He was thrilled to see that the raven haired woman had thought about his need to eat more than the average human. "Wow, you're good at surprises! And no better way to surprise me than to bring some tacos along!" He said with excitement radiating from his tone of voice. The only other person who was nice to Achido like that was Ty and the teenager knew that she would be his best friend forever, but Konja was different and that was something Achido liked.
When Konja got onto the bike, Achido braced his foot that was holding the bike and all their weight up, so that the bike wouldn't tip over on them. As Konja gave the thumbs up and announced that it was his turn to show the woman where he lived, a slight smile rose over his face because the teenager lived far away, but his father's dojo was actually just a few blocks from where they currently were. His father was probably still there getting things ready for tomorrow's session with his students, but he would more than likely let Achido and Konja spar, as long as the two would clean up in the end.
Achido gripped the throttle and pulled it back slowly, allowing them to pull out onto the road. He knew better than to go fast, especially with someone on the back of his bike, so he stayed at the speed limit and followed every traffic law that he could remember. With the dojo just a few minutes away from their location, Achido looked over his shoulder to make sure that Konja was fine. As he looked forward once more, he continued to drive the vehicle, but he spoke to the woman on his bike as well. "My house is far from here, but the dojo is just right up the road. Hopefully father will allow us to use the main room for our spar, he tends to be a bit strict about things." He called out, hoping Konja would hear him.
With the dojo coming up on their right, Achido slowed down the bike and pulled down a small alley. Down the alley were a few parking spots for anyone who worked at the dojo and in this case, it was Achido and his father who did all the work around the building. When he pulled in, his father's silver sports car was sitting in the parking spot next to him, so that meant they would have to deal with him. "Looks like we'll have to persuade the boss that we should practice our techniques and get some extra training in." He announced, as he waited for Konja to slip off the back of the bike.

"I have noticed that you eat quite a lot," this wasn't quite the same level as a Saiyan, of course, but it was still impressive given the human average she'd seen so far. "I'm guessing it has to do with your training as a martial artist." Call it a gut feeling. Konja wasn't any sort of familiar with the science of metabolism, but she noticed well enough, perhaps because of her own race, that a physically active individual required more food to keep them satisfied. Sedentary individuals, on the other hand, even if they didn't eat anywhere near as much, tended to gain fat in certain areas. Sedentaries with big appetites get really fat really fast. So it stood to reason that physical activity affected food requirements. Why they did so was another question entirely, that maybe, one day, in her old age, she would be able to study. Achido took the handles and drove them out of the lot, and onto the road. This island was fairly populated. Maybe some several thousand. It certainly wasn't Korm Village. But on the other hand, it wasn't the large concrete expanse that was Oolong City, either. The setting of the ice carving competition was truly another thing in itself. Not that this island town wasn't anything special. After all, it was large enough to support a thriving economy, with a great variation of professions. Taco King made its headquarters here, and there were enough people that despite the competition, it was still earning. Judging by what she could see whenever she rode along the roads, it was sprawling enough. Achido was particularly careful, as opposed to the last time she saw him ride, perhaps because he was carrying a passenger with him. That was quite thoughtful indeed, albeit unnecessary. After all, Saiyans didn't bruise so easily, at least as long as they were awake and focused. The teenager then explained how the dojo was not at his house. Rather, the dojo was in this very area, much closer to Taco King, in comparison to his house, which was much further away. No wonder he had no problem stopping by to eat ever since he discovered the place. It was literally just up the road. That being said, there was a potential issue with the private use of the dojo... that being that it was of course, presumably, a martial arts school, and its proprietor, Achido's father, was strict. "Is that why you're able to pass by Taco King on the way to training, then?"They closed in on the dojo, an impressive structure that indicated the concentrated capital of its owner. Ah, that she could one day afford something like this. Even if for personal training... That was how it worked, right? There was nothing quite better than setting up a place ideal for training. Achido pulled up into a small alley along the side, which evidently served as Dojo's parking lot. A silver car sat in place, the powerful design once again pointing toward its owner's affluence. Sure enough, Achido pointed out that his father was present, and they would have to deal with him directly. Konja nodded and followed him off the bike. "Then let's not waste any time. I'm itching to fight."WC: 543/1591 Achido

Just as the two walked up to the dojo's door, Achido looked over his shoulder to the dark haired woman with a slight smile. "Are you ready to meet my father? He can be a handful, just warning you now." He announced, before turning to the door and pulling it open and letting Konja step inside first. If his father caught him entering the dojo before a woman, he would punish his son with some intense training, something Achido hated with a passion.
Once the two were inside the building, Achido stepped ahead and looked around the empty dojo. "Dad! Are you here?" The boy called out, as he stepped inside the dark office owned by his father. There was a moment of silence before Achido turned around and almost jumped out of his shoes because his father was standing right behind him, with each hand upon his hips. The blonde haired man with a slight five o'clock shadow and a red gi looked down at his son before speaking. "You've missed two weeks worth of lessons, Achido. Where have you been?! You had your mother worried to death!!" The man shouted at his son, almost causing the kid to cower away, but not this time.
Achido looked up to his father and straight toward his eyes. "Listen, I told mother where I was. I am sorry that it was a few days late, but I got into a little fight with someone and broke my phone!" Tears began to build up in the eyes of the kid, but he wasn't going to release the flood. Instead, he used those emotions to stand up for himself because he was no longer a little boy. The man blinked a few times with a confused expression, then finally responded to his son's words. "I am disappointed in you, son. I thought we taught you better than that." He responded, then looked to his left to see Konja standing there.
Before Achido's father could say anything about Konja, the teenager stepped forward and out into the hallway. "Father, this is Konja. Konja, my father." He respectfully introduced the two, then Achido took a few slow steps back until he was side by side with Konja. "We met at the Taco King just a few minutes from here, then we entered a contest, where we had to sculpt anything we wanted out of either ice or snow! It was so much fun, even if we didn't win that big Zeni reward." He said excitedly, forgetting about all that anger he was feeling just a few moments ago.
"My Apologies, Konja. My name is Daiko Nakamura, welcome to our dojo." He announced, as he slightly bowed to the young woman. "My son does not bring company over very often, so I do apologize that you had to hear me lecture him. So, what brings you two kids here?" Daiko said to them both, with a slight smile upon his face. Achido looked to Konja, hoping that she could answer this one for him, so that he didn't have to keep chatting with his old man.

"If he is anything like my father, I'll be fine." Konja smiled as Achido opened the door, allowing her to go inside first. This was something she still had to wrap her head around. This earthly custom of some men opening the doors for women as though they were royalty. Was there something about women that made them deserve such special treatment? They made children and fought like anyone else. That didn't seem too special. At least on Planet Plant, they didn't get such luxury unless they were elites. Not that Konja wasn't proud of her own skill or anything, but as she stepped in, she shrank just a bit. She was no elite to deserve such service. Though if anything, that was part of why she was here. To fight with Achido, and further improve her own abilities. In time, she would become an elite. No, in time, she would surpass them. Tara was always training. Cayle, even moreso. She had to do better than Tara. Then maybe, just maybe, she would feel less of an undeserving low class taking an elite's privilege every time somebody opened a door for her. She would earn her right to have doors opened for her. That was the plan. Well... of course, more importantly, she would grow to be powerful enough to defeat those accursed Tuffles. As soon as they got inside, Achido took the lead - as her host, this was clearly understandable, for even Saiyans had a concept of hospitality. As he called out for his father, who was most certainly here do to the presence of his car, she silently followed him about, examining the dojo. Finally, she stopped as Achido entered a smaller room in the back, from where she could see, an office of some sort, not too unlike that Cayle used. Before she knew it, however, a taller blonde figure in a red gi had emerged from... well she couldn't tell, really... and this man proved to be Achido's father. As the two got into something of a spate, the yam farmer kept quiet and crossed her arms over her chest. This was a family matter, and she had no business interfering with what conflicts father and son had. A mother worried "to death" over his disappearances the past two weeks. Alas, Konja never got to know her mother. She perished on the same mission that grievously wounded her father. She was only a little baby then, cared for by her father as best he could after the King's Army discharged him. Perhaps, if this did not improve, she might encourage him to honour his mother's wishes a bit more. Well... again, it was a family matter and she had no place interfering. It was Achido's choice. Finally, she came to the man's attention. Achido quickly sprung into action and explained everything there was to be said about their friendship at this point. Where they met, the great time they had in the Oolong City ice sculpting contest... Regardless of whether they took the prize or not, that was what mattered the most in the end. That wasn't to say that they didn't receive impressive sums, of course. But he had a fair outlook on what the point of their participation was. Enjoyment and camaraderie. Konja mirrored the bow presented to her by Achido's father, a martial artist named Daiko Nakamura. Albeit hers was a bit deeper, thanks to her having been raised to respect the elder. Not just the elders - old men - who led the village, but people of senior stature in general, be it elder brothers or parents or the like. After all, their greater age at least meant they had more experience than her. "There is no need to apologise, Sir. As a guest at your abode, it is my duty to respect all that occurs within your family."Such was her upbringing. He then went on to ask the more pertinent question. To which Konja answered with just a hint of excitement bubbling from underneath her usually calm demeanour. "We're here to spar, Sir. My father was also a warrior and he raised me up to be capable of fighting in this dangerous world. To that regard, Achido and I wish to test our skills against each other." She cracked her knuckles. "That is, if you would grant us the honour of fighting in your dojo."WC:733/2324 Achido

Achido just stood there with an innocent look upon his face, while Konja was doing all the talking to Daiko. The teenager was excited to see that Konja was thrilled to begin their spar together, so the blonde kid turned and looked to his father with a slight smile forming upon his face. "Well, since you two will be practicing your martial arts, I will allow the both of you to do as you please. Just please remind Achido to lock up the building and shut the lights out. We all know how he forgets everything." He announced, while letting out a slight chuckle.
Achido was quite surprised to hear what he father had said, but he didn't complain, the teen just nodded with the same smile on his face, while turning to look to Konja as if they had gotten away with murder. When the door was heard from behind them, Daiko was gone and ready to make his way home to his wife. "Wow, that was odd! He usually gives me a hard time! Well, that doesn't matter right now." He said to the raven haired woman, while making his way into the much larger room.
Inside that room, Achido and Konja would be able to openly fight, without having to worry about little space to work with. Once in position, he looked to Konja and grinned. "Are you ready, Konja? I want you to give me all you got!" He announced, while sinking into a battle position. This was what Achido lived for, especially after learning a lot from Ty and Cayle both. They were excellent warriors, but even better friends and Achido hoped that maybe one day that Konja would possibly train with them in the future.

Considering what Achido had told her earlier, it was surprising to see his father agree to their request so easily. Despite this unexpected reaction, however, there was no doubt in her mind that it was a blessing. "We will make sure that everything is in order once we finish, Sir." Konja bowed as the older man headed out the door, leaving the two to carry on with their business. The look on Achido's face was that of utter shock. His expectations were completely subverted, it was clear, and the extent of such told her a lot about how unusual this sort of reaction was. Indeed, the young man went on to voice his utter disbelief at what had just occurred. As for Konja, having only met Achido's father this first time, she had no previous experience to compare with this one, and could only take her friend's word for it. "This occasion must be quite the unusual one then if he isn't acting quite like himself."There were some ways she could probe this further. For example, one particular line of questioning that immediately came to mind, "How often do you bring friends over here to spar?" She followed her friend into the main room. It was certainly spacious, enough for them to freely test each other's capabilities, that was of course, so long as they were careful with their ki. Wouldn't want to tear this place down, after all. They took their positions on either side of the mat, and the yam farmer turned fast food cashier and hopeful employee of the month took her own stance. Left arm forward in a guard, right pulled back in preparation to strike. Achido made it clear that he wanted her to hold nothing back. Konja nodded. "I'm ready. After what she had seen of the Baron the other night, she was quite excited to fight with someone again. To see what his style could teach her. What she could learn from it and find useful in the ongoing war against the Tuffles. "I'm glad," the faint outline of a smile became visible on her face. "The truest way to speak with someone is with their fists. Holding back would only mean I am keeping secrets from you... and that isn't how it should be."It might have sounded odd, but that was one of the things Konja was particularly big about. Honesty. And when it came to a fight, holding back was a form of dishonesty. It was time then... to see just what Achido was really made of. Initiative hl_VPQC|1d100WC: 428/2752 Achido1d100

With Achido's father leaving the dojo and the two fighters ready to brawl it out, Achido listened to each word the raven haired woman had to say. He remained in the battle position, but gave the woman a slight smirk. " Father never liked me having friends. You're the first of my friends to meet my father. He always told me that they were a distraction from my training, so I kept to myself until these past few months." He responded to Konja's question. There was no doubt in his mind that his father disliked the fact that he was hanging around women, but Daiko would only be able to restrain his son from a real life for so long. Once Konja announced that the truest way to speak with someone was with their fist, Achido nodded as his smirk formed into a smile. " I couldn't agree more! Alright, Konja! I think it is time to show you what I've learned over the years of being a martial artist." The teenager never moved a single muscle, but he was calculating everything in his own mind before actually doing it. There was a moment when the entire dojo was silent, this was when Achido reached behind his back and pulled out a small cylinder shaped device. With a press of a button, the device flung open into a long bo staff. The smile on Achido's face instantly faded, causing the teen to look more serious. With the Bo Staff in his hands, he twirled the weapon in a full circle, before attempting to swing the staff up toward the jaw of the woman. Whether or not she was prepared for the attack, Achido would spin around and attempt to swing the weapon into the ribs of Konja. This wouldn't be an easy task at all, but Achido was prepared to put his body on the line in order to get stronger. Word Count: 327 Total Word Count: 2,022

"I'm excited," was about all she said once she spied Achido drawing his weapon. It was a staff. Not quite something she was too unfamiliar with. Her village at least made use of various tools to train for self-defence. Few resources meant many of those farming tools also doubled as training weapons. In this case, a pitchfork modeled the spear, while the hoe served as a staff. All one had to do was remove the head, and it would be very well balanced. Her father had given her quite a share of bruises with such a thing, and it was only when she became competent enough to deal with the staff that she was allowed to move on to actual dedicated weapons, such as a dagger, and eventually, her limbs. As her father explained, it wasn't just the weapon itself that he was training her in. The weapons themselves served as models for a specific clan style, and the progression between weapons made her effective regardless of what she held (or didn't) in her hands. This was the style taught to the village militia. By the time they were called in by the Capital to fight, Korm's warriors were indeed proficient with any weapon they ever bothered to use... After all, the final lesson was that the Saiyan's body was their deadliest weapon. Now she would see how Achido's family taught him how to use a staff. And he wasn't going to hold back. Konja exhaled with a kiai, raising her power level to its limit. Now the fight would seriously begin. [262/3014]

As Konja would boost her power significantly, Achido’s eyes would widen from the rush he was getting from seeing the saiyan woman increase her power. " That’s not fair! I don’t remember how to do that!" He pouted, while turning his back to the woman for a brief moment. The blonde teenager may have been a bit upset that Konja was going to have the upper hand, but he would get over it. Achido looked over his left shoulder and grinned at Konja. " Fine, I won’t hold back!" He called out, before twisting the Bo-Staff in a circular motion, while his back was still facing the saiyan woman. In a flash, the teenager stopped the spinning of the staff and attempted to slam the butt of the staff into the abdomen of Konja. Whether or not that was successful, Achido would spin and attempt to swing the staff towards the jaw of the woman. This was just the beginning of their little spar and Achido was hoping that they would both learn from this experience. He had not used his fighting skills in some time, so there was a good chance that the teenager would eventually make mistakes, but he was hoping for the very opposite because this was his first legit spar with someone other than Ty or his father. "I'm sure your training will get to raising your power level sooner or later," a matter of fact statement, as much as a poorly worded attempt at reassurance. If Achido could feel that Konja's power level had gone up, then he at least knew enough to sense it, and surely, training on powering up was just around the corner. At least, that was the logical way to see it... Achido seemed to relent in annoyance for a moment, before quickly getting over it and announcing his intention to go all out. Good. Now she would be able to gauge his abilities. The first strike by the bo hit home, knocking some air out of her lungs as it slammed into her abdomen. Konja stepped back to regain her balance, ki surging to raise her awareness just in time to raise her hand and block the incoming wooden implement from hitting her jaw. For warriors talking with their fists, this was a very good conversation starter. The cashier smirked and feinted to the right, before ducking down in an attempt to tackle her opponent's leg and get him down on the mat. If that worked, she would try to get him into an armbar. If not, she would flip up behind him and try to catch his neck in between her legs. [221/3235]

Achido was unaware of Konja’s training and how fast she would be able to retaliate to his strikes with the Bo-Staff. He was rather amazed by it all, even though he knew that she had the edge in power over him, but he wanted to test her stamina as well. What the teenager didn’t expect was just how fast the saiyan was able to strike back. " What the?" Was all that could escape his mouth, before Konja would take him down by the leg. With the woman taking advantage of what she had accomplished, Achido tried to wiggle his way free, but was unable to succeed! Before the young man knew it, Konja was on top of him and grabbing at his arm. He tried to pull it back with all his might, but she was much stronger than Achido. The armbar was in and Achido was trying his best to find a way to escape, before he would have to tap out. The Bo-Staff was now on the dojo floor and a few feet from reaching distance for young Achido. He continued to try and pull his arm up, but no matter what, Konja had an excellent grip and pulled with twice as much force. " Grr" He growled in pain and anger, before twisting his body and pushing the legs of Konja up, and attempting to bend his arm and look down at the woman. With his left hand, Achido pulled back and attempted to slam the clenched fist down two times towards the face of Konja, hoping that she would let go of him. As the spar was just getting started, it seemed that Konja was well trained and would turn out to be a lot more than he would expect. Her strength, speed, and intelligence was magnificent. It was almost as if he had never seen anything like her before. Word Count: 321 Total Word Count: 2,571

Konja found herself in a particularly good situation. The tackle had gone well, and now they were on the floor, struggling over the armbar she had put Achido into. Nevertheless, her opponent was a trained martial artist. It was only understandable that he would be able to get out of it sooner or later. Rather than losing initiative in attempts to defend himself - in poor fashion, given she had taken him down - he opted instead to right into a counter-attack, using his free fist to punch her face twice. There were of course, a number of ki-based CQC techniques she learned from her time in the militia, particularly during the year she spent fighting the war. Such little emergency ploys as raising a ki screen to swat down bullets. It might not have been as effective as just blocking with her hands, but it would keep them free and allow her to retain some offensive initiative. A blue screen of ki formed itself over her face, and while it shattered easily under Achido's punches, his fists smashing into her face, it gave her the crucial split second to launch her counter attack. As soon as his finished hitting her, Konja retaliated with a headbutt, and then a flurry of punches up at her opponent's centre of mass. While she did end up releasing him from her grip, she would have enough initiative to throw all her energy his way.
