So the day had come at last.
The only one to stand up alongside him, as woe as he was to admit. Kiryu expressed the closest to actually matching his abilities that he had witnessed ever since he'd gotten this strong. Since then he'd skyrocketed, but no doubt there was a fire in his competitor that spurred him forward too. He would be greatly disappointed if the kid showed up with next to nothing to show for it. He'd been training for the better part of an hour now as best he could given where he was. A dense park amidst the vast Central City, off the main path where people would walk and instead in a little clearing where the rare picnic might be held. It was large enough to count as a proper arena for martial artists, and that's why he chose for it to be the spot they would train at. The question was how to make this happen without a greater problem starting. Who knows the destruction they'd cause, but that's why he chose a part so deep in the forest that it might as well have been the transition to the normal fields and villages that dotted the Southern Lands. Perhaps only that is what made this opportunity possible.
Still, he'd have to signal Kiryu, but that wasn't a problem if he was even remotely in the area. His training consisted of a fairly noticeable manoeuvre; that being the intense rise and drop of aerial combat and working agility and motion into his actions. He couldn't just be a block of muscle, he needed to have the snappy speed to carry that, the bursts of motion. Since after all the faster you swing a fist the more force is transferred. It helps in just about every way. To accomplish this Bass lunged his little make-shift broomstick log into the sky. Following after it he burst from the ground with enough force to cause branches and fruits to fall from the forests trees for a good area around him. Sailing up, up and up he caught up to the log and began to manoeuvre around it. It was fascinating, because it was almost as if he was suspended in the air. Weaving around the log as his feet kicked off seemingly nothing to unbelievably propel him up and around the object that continued to soar higher with him now. Throwing punches that stopped just short of the thing, his aim was to connect and weave around his shadow opponent.
Of course, it was also to draw the attention of Kiryu, only thing more effective would be to literally shoot a flare into the sky; he reckoned he wouldn't need to do that. Moving with blurs of motion he shot out five-ten-fifteen fists in under a couple seconds in swift and explosive jabs that sent out waves of pressure just from the force alone. Nothing substantial, but if one were standing in front of it enough to be felt at the very least. Kicking off the air and propelling himself higher with the power of flight; a technique he'd started to realize more for what it really was as of late, he send a knee into the lower part of the log with just enough force in passing to flip it about and stop the upwards ascent. As it flipped around and ended up neutral in motion for just a moment he brought a palm down on the top of the log and sent it shooting back down towards the clearing like a bullet. While it wasn't a strike, he was intending to use that same explosive energy to send the object crashing downwards. A test of his full might to make sure it was an improvement over last time.
In a wink of light the log started to shred from the speed at which it descended. Dropping a thousand feet a second, as soon as it had been struck it looked like it was already in the ground; with a wicked shock-wave to boot. Though the consequence of this was that all that remained of the log was a splintered broken husk that would be unusable. Wood was beginning to be too weak to work with at all in his exercises anymore. He'd stopped being able to strike it some time ago, and now he couldn't even manipulate it at his full power without it tearing apart from the sheer force. He'd need to upgrade when he got back to South City with more industrial tools.
And then there was simply Bass in the sky. One leg slightly above the other he raised his hand to shield his eyes from the sun as he peered around the forest for any signs of movement. Not much, and any that he noticed was far a way. He couldn't see under the canopy, mainly just the walkways that were another mile in towards the city proper. With that he'd let out a relieved sigh and give way his ki flow that maintained his levitation, plummeting and sailing down from the sky just like any other person might until getting fifty feet from impact. His body realigned itself and he seemingly just lowered gently until touching the grass, gentle ripples of wind blowing out from where he descended.
Taking a seat and inhaling deeply, he crossed his legs and closed his eyes. He'd imagine the various ways this could play out while awaiting Kiryu to arrive...
And unbeknownst to him, two others as well.

Kiryu's time in Central City had been exceptional. He had spent the last few days taking in all of the sights and sounds of the city that he possibly could. Kiryu's days were spent visiting parks and museums and arcades. His nights were spent exploring the night life, from dance clubs to craft breweries to concerts and movies. Interspersed between these activities was frequent texts and training sessions with the woman that Kiryu had come to Central City to meet. Kiryu had, in his time here, found Ahri an engaging person, an excellent sparring partner, and a friend that he was swiftly coming to value.
Kiryu was performing his own training in Central City. His early morning routine had consisted of a parkour session, a complicated run over the rooftops of the city. Kiryu bounced around like a pinball, seeming to defy gravity at times, running along and up walls, rolling as he landed and springing over obstacles, never stopping for more than a second at a time. After he had spent some time doing that, and worked up a considerable sweat, Kiryu found his spot.
In a large, industrial city, it had been initially difficult for Kiryu to find tranquility. While incredible to him, the near constant lights and noise of the city were intrusive. Eventually, Kiryu had found a quiet area near a lake. It was nothing fancy; merely a clear area in a copse of trees about two minutes walk from the edge of the lake. But it seemed as though the trees kept the noises of the city at bay, and instead Kiryu could hear the songs of birds and the crystalline sounds of clean, running water, and the wind through the trees.
Kiryu concentrated, then, engaging in intense image training. He pictured himself, fighting a powerful foe. They met each other blow for blow, neither able to gain the mastery as they strove against one another. Kiryu imagined himself defending against every possible attack, and countering, his body performing incredible feats of agility and precision as he conceived of outlandish maneuvers and improvised counter attacks.
It was when Kiryu was thinking his way through a particularly difficult sequence of attacks that the awareness of someone else encroached upon his serenity.
It wasn't hard to feel what had happened. Kiryu was moving forward, of course, but he should have known that his rivals would be as well. Kiryu's finely tuned senses easily detected a familiar presence, and of course, Bass was even stronger than he remembered. There was something... different, though. Something that felt like an invitation.
A smile crossed Kiryu's face.
Kiryu stood and stretched, then began to walk back to the lake, and from there, back to the motel where he had been staying for the past few days. As soon as he thought he was back where he would have any reception, Kiryu removed his smart phone from his pocket and dialed Ahri's number.
"Sorry to bug you... but something just happened. If you can feel that huge energy, well, that's an... acquaintance of mine. Maybe a friend? Hard to tell at this point. In any case, I think that's his way of saying he's ready to rumble. We always knew we'd be squaring off one day soon, and it looks like he's ready for us to test ourselves against one another. If you wanted to join up... well, I think the three of us might get a lot from sparring together. I'm going to meet him in about thirty minutes. I hope I'll see you there."
After Kiryu made it back to his room, he prepared as best he could. He ensured that his robes were right around his body, that they would not restrict his movements. He made sure he was hydrated, fueled by enough food, and had his energy reserves full to their capacity. Kiryu definitely had some tricks up his sleeve, but he was no fool. Bass was stronger than he was. If he had even a slim hope of winning, he was going to have to be smart. Kiryu used a breathing technique that his mother had taught him, forcing his heart rate to slow. His skin was tingling with excitement... from the time he had met Bass, he had wanted to test his skill against the Namekian. He had not expressed this, but Bass had swiftly become the metric that Kiryu used to judge himself. This would be the biggest test of his progress yet.
Moving outside, Kiryu mounted his motorcycle. He realized that the bike was swiftly becoming his signature vehicle, and he was more than okay with that. He had acquired it as a gift from his friends after rescuing them from bandits, and every time he rode it, he was reminded that even though he had his doubts about his actions from time to time, Kiryu had already made a real difference out in the world.
Kiryu made his way to where he sensed Bass. He parked his bike in the parking lot, then trekked through the semi wilderness to find Bass, waiting. Kiryu raised a hand in greeting, smiling at the Namekian that, despite his words to AHri, he had come to regard as a friend.
"If what I felt in your aura is right... I'm guessing this isn't a social call, exactly."
Kiryu grinned fiercely.
"I'm getting excited thinking about going up against you. I hope you don't mind, but I sent an invite to a friend. She's tough, I think you'll like her. If we're gonna do this, then heck, the more the merrier, right?"

"If we're gonna do this, then heck, the more the merrier, right?"
"Indeed, so why not one more?" a deep voice suddenly called out from within the foliage of the trees, ringing out across the area.
Following it, a seven foot tall bearded man stepped out, leaving the shade and pulling out a set of sunglasses from within the pockets of his dark red cloak. He looked built like an action figure, easily towering over the Earthling, even standing a few inches taller than the Namekian despite their naturally great height - complete with what was clearly not the brightest resting face, his visage would have definitely frightened any average man.
In truth, Duke Luciferius Satan, the Duke of the noble illustrious House of Satan, was not searching for a fight today. He had arrived to Central City for different reasons. As much as he might have wanted it, the rest of his family did not allow him to sell the impressive Satan estate in Orange Star City and thus gather enough funds to begin the construction of his life project. So, instead, the Duke had to travel the planet, searching for bounties to sign up for, prize money to win, and help to find, all to rack up the dough necessary to make his goal of one day seeing the capital of Earth's martial arts founded. Any ordinary member of Earthling nobility would be disgusted by the idea of travelling the planet like a hermit or a beggar and collecting money through bounties - but Duke Satan did not mind. After all, the more he travels across the world, the more chances he has to meet some of the greatest martial artists which Earth has to offer and witness their abilities, the more people he will thus be able to invite to Satan City once it is completed.
However, while travelling across Central City, the Duke stumbled upon its vast park, upon which he soon noticed that it was being used by someone as a means for training. And from what he has been able to perceive, they were certainly a force to be reckoned with - tossing logs into the sky and punching them down with enough strength to cause shockwaves. It was these types of superhuman feats which made young Luciferius so enthralled with the idea of ki and martial arts. Who needs superhero comics or books or movies when the most spectacular things you could possibly imagine are taking place in real life?
"I hope you don't mind me butting in..." the Duke stated, putting on his sunglasses and taking a good look at the people before him. A Namekian, whose skin was somehow blue rather than green, and an Earthling who clearly looked like a some sort of martial artist. The two of them radiated the sort of aura which immediately told Satan that he was not dealing with your ordinary fighters.
"I am Duke Luciferius Satan, and while I am not a martial artist myself, I travel across the world in search of the greatest ones. I wish to give you a, let's say, a proposition... but before that, may I join you in your spar?"

There were many things in Ahri's life that never changed. Things that she normally wouldn't want to change. It was a routine life, and while most people may think that living a routine lifestyle is boring, Ahri felt content with her way of living. She trained, explored, fought, searched, did the regular things that were listed in her daily schedule, fitting in anything extra when needed. Then, she met someone new every few months, slightly changing the way her regular schedule looked. And the most recent person that had made their way into the life of the young woman was Kiryu. He was a decent guy, with morals and a great personality. He was the type of person that would be difficult to hate, in Ahri's eyes. Quickly, they became friends instead of mere acquaintances, and Ahri had hung out around the city with him a couple of times, even making small talk on their phones from time to time. They've both become considerably stronger since their most recent spar, and Ahri, being the fighter she is, was hungry for a new challenge. They had met in a rather unique way, with Kiryu being the one hearing about Ahri's narrow and undeserved victory against a demon, causing him to request a spar with the woman. Ahri had never seen anything like it. Kiryu was skillful, quick, agile and overall better than Ahri was when it came to combat. The only other person who had managed to completely outclass her like Kiryu did was her very own mentor, her mother. And much like her, Ahri looked up to the man, eager for the day to come when she surpasses him. Already setting Kiryu's power as a new milestone to reach. Little did she know, there was another living, sentient being who possessed power that would surpass almost anything she could see in her lifetime, at least, at her current state of power. The day was regular for Ahri, getting up, getting ready, and hitting the gym. She was often on the fence about which gym she wished to visit, whether it be her personal gym, or the public gym. Today, she had opted to head for her personal gym, since she had visited the public gym last time. While walking towards the newly renovated warehouse, however, she suddenly noticed a power level spike skywards outside of the large, industrial city, and it went up, up, and up, slamming to an amount that Ahri didn't, couldn't compare to. "Holy.... What is that?"She thought aloud in a whisper, amazed at the level of strength in the ki signature she just felt. There really was no limit to what training could do, no matter what race or background people came from. Before long, she arrived at the designated building, entering and taking in the scent of the place. It was clean, fresh and quiet, as Ahri had paid a rather hefty sum of money for it to be this way. It was large and spacious, perfect for the woman's taste. Hell, she could probably live there if she wanted. As she began to remove the contents of her bag, an audible buzzing could be heard among the contents. It could be nothing but her smartphone. Searching around for a moment, she picked up the phone, seeing that Kiryu had been the one calling her mobile device. Tapping the green button, she brought the phone to her ear, before uttering a casual, "Hello?" Sure enough, it was Kiryu speaking to her, first questioning her about the strong power level. Apparently, it was someone known to the man, and he seemed like they wished to spar with the man called Kiryu. Kiryu then asked if Ahri would like to meet up with them, on the basis that they would progress a lot more quickly if they all sparred together. Finally, an opportunity for a challenge, something to truly push her past her limits, something.... terrifyingly strong. "Sure! I'd love to. See you there in a bit."Dropping her phone back into her bag, along with everything else she had taken out of it, she zipped the bag up, closing it shut, before tossing it across her back, immediately heading out towards the source of the energy. This was going to be one heck of an encounter..... Eventually, she neared the place where she felt the ki signature before, eager to meet whoever this person may be. She heard voices through the half wilderness she trudged through, instantly recognizing the first one as Kiryu, although another voice came after it, and Ahri guessed that it was the person Kiryu talked about. Now that she thought about it.... she didn't even bother to ask for a name. In her haste, she had simply left, seemingly not caring about anything of the sort. Making no effort to hide her power level of three thousand, she broke through the greenery, stepping into the clearing. She saw Kiryu, an oddly coloured Namekian, and a freakishly tall man possessing a thick beard. Addressing them all, she spoke. "Sorry I'm late, uh, Kiryu? You never said anything about there being two."Dressed in her regular training gear, her solid abs were clearly visible to then all, showcasing a body that could only be obtained naturally through intense physical training.

He had started to gain the ability to sense others. Not in the conventional sense and not with any sort of finesse, but he could get the idea that strongish people were around that exceeded the average masses with this new meditative type of training. Blocking out the other senses and entering a realm of intense fighting against a phantom opponent that matched him blow for blow. It was almost secondary that he could generally feel the large powers approaching. Yet he didn't even know his own by scale, it's like hearing his own voice in the current circumstance. He knew what he could do, but he didn't know what that meant when compared with these feelings of approaching power. He couldn't even numerically classify the approaching powers, but he sensed three of them. The first one was the person that he wanted to test himself against. If there was anybody that could maybe match him it was that kid- and despite his fancy tricks that Bass hated he'd just have to deal with it. After all at the end of the day the method of fighting is irrelevant, victory is. Especially when the fights actually have stakes. The power was potent, and to him had an almost jagged and vicious aura.
While that wasn't reflective of Kiryu's personality, that was how Bass conceptualized his fighting style in his head. Exploiting opportunities and going in with not so potent but vital strikes that hit their targets in their weakest places. Being hit by Kiryu was just being told what muscles to train more, because wherever he would target would be the weakest points on your body. It was a method of teaching that the kid himself to Bass's knowledge didn't even compartmentalize as him teaching, but simply his style. Furthermore he exploited his art as well, using weapons and technology as he saw fit. The ends justify the means, right? It was a fighting style that Bass disagreed with, because he believed it undermined the necessity for sheer power. Making ends meet with technique and equipment or magic to him simply meant skimping out of raw training. Because your own body will never let you down, you could be stripped of all your possessions and locked underground; even then you are at one hundred percent of your power with Bass's way. Though he couldn't deny the power that Kiryu's road had granted him. That's why he invited him here today.
Then there was the next energy reading. It was something that he'd just barely been able to pick up on. Quite literally a needle in a haystack- something that can be bested when you don't rely on your eyes. Though none could deny the sheer martial intensity that this aura had. While smaller than the former and even the one to come after those should be judged on potential and character just as much as their present capacity. He was not to be underestimated and even if he was bested it is arguably more important to not underestimate him on the grand scheme of things. The greatest motivator can often come from feelings of envy, at least that was what Bass thought. The aura came off as proud, mighty and courageous. Things that Bass honestly shared in truth, who was more proud, who was more mighty and who was more courageous might define their relationship in the journey of life that yet awaits.
Then finally was a third aura and one that he could only assume was this friend of Kiryu's. A power level less than the kid but still formidable, more potent than the prior currently. It went without saying that they were a powerful martial artist in their own right. The aura he felt from them was something of desperation- not in the negative connotation, but rather an amazing capacity to fight tooth and claw to climb to whichever summit they wanted to stand atop of. A bottomless void of willpower, every moment defined by compliment or insult to their power in the current moment. In fact it was so overpowering in that aspect that he felt nothing beyond it. He did not feel anything beyond that one feature. He couldn't tell where or why it was the way it was like he figured he could with the others. Given, this is purely an understanding Bass'd on his own perception, not objective truth.
And then they were upon the plains that would house their fight. Some would consider this a spar but the intensity would be something otherworldly. Some of them might be familiar with it, but some of them might not be. Blows that shook the surrounding environment and toppled trees, caused landslides and split apart hills and almost even mountains.
When the first breached into the clearing from the trees, Bass opened his eyes yet remained where he was as the kid approached. He'd listen, but before responding wait for the next figure to walk through the treeline as well. Duke Luciferius Satan. A name he would come to know after an introduction was made in a moment of time. Listening to them both speak, the Namekian pushed a fist against the ground and stood up to his full height. Not actually having the entire same imposing aura he'd have in being the tallest in the room, there was still an aura of honed otherworldly strength that he could see others being intimidated by. He'd respond to them both while allowing Ahri to come forward through the trees as well.
"You are right, kid. It's good to be excited, because this might be one of the last times you get a chance too. I'm going back to the Southern Islands after we're done here. And yes, I could sense more than you approaching. I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to go against three and not just one. Then I will know if it is possible for me to taste defeat." He said with not pride in his tone, but rather genuine interest. He had demolished his two opponents so far, and before that had a track record of winning every single one of his fights since his one loss all those years ago; as Grubby Goon #8008.
Looking towards the Duke, he'd give a nod. "I don't mind at all, I'll hear out whatever you're offering after the fight. Or if you think you can talk and block, during. And a Martial Artist is not defined by being housed in a dojo or through technical mastery, they're defined by those with a love for battle and a will to improve themselves." As Ahri approached, Bass would introduce himself in turn.
"You all can simply call me Bass. I figured you two would go against me, but with Duke Satan here I would request that the three of you go against me. If you'd like after the fact we can simply do a two on two, but I want to see where I'm at and this has the best guarantee of being helpful." Looking towards Ahri, then Kiryu, and finally the Duke he couldn't deny they were all people that trained day in and out to improve themselves.
The question was, was he enough, or were they enough?
"Well then. Shall we get started?" He'd ask as his hand rose up to pull his tie from around his shirt, tossing it to the side.

Kiryu nearly jumped when the tall, bearded man stepped out of the brush. Kiryu had been so focused on Bass's power level, and so hyped up at the aspect of finally crossing fists withe Namekian, he had completely neglected to keep his awareness of other powers at a high level. This... Duke Luciferius Satan, wherever he had come from, was no slouch himself, despite his denial of being a martial artist. Earthlings just didn't get that strong naturally, not as far as Kiryu knew. Still, he was never one to turn down a challenge. Kiryu nodded to the man.
"Good to meet you. I'm Kiryu, and I would be honored to spar with you, and am quite interested to here what kind of proposition you would have for a bunch of martial artists."
Kiryu tuned his eyes over to Ahri, as she came up to the assembled fighters and commented on the extra person that had showed up. Kiryu shrugged, the left corner of his mouth quirking up in a hapless expression.
"Honestly, I'm just as surprised as you are. I have down Duke Luciferius Satan here for... uh, forty five seconds longer than you have? But, hey, you know me. I'm a roll with it sort of guy. Besides, testing my skills against worthwhile opponents is, you know, sort of my whole thing, so why not?"
Kiryu listened to Bass's speech, and as the Namekian spoke, a change came over Kiryu. His eyes narrowed and his features hardened. Kiryu's mouth tightened and he fought to keep himself from grinding his teeth.
Is he fucking with me right now?
Three against one? To Kiryu's mind, that was beyond ridiculous. Bass was the most powerful individual he had ever met, outside of Kiryu's own father Gozen. Even so, Kiryu was no slouch himself. Was he truly that far eclipsed by Bass's power level that the Namekian didn't even perceive him as a threat? Kiryu could have made an alternate suggestion. Something about a two on two being more honorable, perhaps something about it being good for them to fight in various configurations, and that there was much they could learn by taking a more cerebral approach to this.
At that moment, though, Kiryu was mad enough at the perceived sleight that he thought perhaps it was time to teach Bass a lesson in overconfidence.
"If that's how you want it," Kiryu said slowly, "Then I hope you're ready. I'm not going to hold anything back; I'm going to use everything in my arsenal to try to beat you. You may have bitten off a bit more than you can chew... or maybe we're just not quite strong enough. I guess we;re going to find out."
Kiryu thought back, then, to all the times he had not been strong enough. He remembered his training with his father, his elation when he would master a new technique. His father had always been stronger, but Kiryu had expected that. Gozen was also his teacher, and the reason that Kiryu had wanted to achieve the same level of strength as Gozen was to stand beside him, to walk as equals, to make his father proud, both of him and of the way that Kiryu had walked the Path.
This was different. Kiryu had been on his sojourn to meet the strong, to make allies, because in his heart he knew that something bad was coming, something that threatened the entire world. That had been Kiryu's purpose in beginning to travel. Now, though, he felt a new desire, a competitive fire that he had only previously felt as the thrill of battle and the joy of honest matches. Kiryu felt a desire, a burning need to show that despite the gap in their strength, he was not someone that would be so easily defeated. That no matter how strong an opponent, Kiryu was good enough to compete with anyone on the planet.
Kiryu inhaled slowly, then exhaled, the air shimmering around him. No aura was visible, and yet, there was unquestionably a pressure there. It was not so much a physical pressure as it was a feeling of something deeper, some spiritual presence that would not let itself be ignored.
Kiryu glanced over at Duke Satan, speaking as he did so. "Ahri knows this, but I'm more of a technician and a blaster than a brawler. Ahri's built like a tank, and you kind of look like you are too. It would seem like a good strategy would be for you two to get up close and personal with Bass, while I go ahead and demonstrate a couple of my new moves, just for his enjoyment. But I'm open to other suggestions."
Kiryu turned his eyes towards base, and orange ki began to pool at his fingertips. "Let's get this started."

Post by Duke Satan on Oct 1, 2019 5:25:33 GMT -8
There were a lot of good news for the Duke of Satan to mention as the scene unfolded.
First, neither one of the two combatants protested his entrance into the sparring match - quite the opposite, they were amiable to him, an outsider, requesting to participate. It seemed that the Earthling and the Namekian were already familiar with each other - they spoke to each other as if they already knew each other's names, and were thrilled to duke out their differences? Were the two of them old friends, perhaps even students of the same martial arts school? Or were they rivals, competitors, who stumbled across one another in their long trek of life and have sworn to prove that one of them is stronger than the other? Whatever the case may be, it was going to make the battle today even more exciting.
Second, they had a fourth entrance into the scene - and, once again, it was someone whom they were familiar with, at least the Earthling was. It was a woman, taller than average, wearing a set of training gear, and displaying an impressive set of muscles - clearly, she was no novice in the field of martial arts. Even without that, the Duke could guess exactly that - he had a feeling that the woman hid even more power than her muscles showed. The towering bearded Earthling traveler put his long, boring and grueling years of practicing courtesy to use.
"Nice to meet you, miss. Luciferius Satan, Duke of Satan." he spoke, and followed it up with a polite nod. A show of respect not just to a woman, but a fellow warrior.
The battle was about to unfold. As it turns out, the Namekian chose to stand against all three of them alone. Either he was impressively confident in his abilities, or he indeed had power worthy of being proud of. Knowing how the Namekian attracted the Duke's attention, he was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and assume the second point. Throughout his travels, the leader of the House of Satan has witnessed many martial artists, strong and weak, but the amount of times he has been led to misjudge his opponent based on their confidence... it has left him just a little bit wary. However, the men and women gathered here appeared to be no pushovers, and with each passing second, the excitement within his body was building up more and more.
"That sounds fair." the Duke responded calmly when the Earthling explained his plan for taking on the Namekian, whom he named 'Bass'. As he described, Ahri - and yes, apparently the woman's name was Ahri - was built like a tank, which he presumed meant 'a person with high endurance', and he appeared to be the same, so the two of them will charge forth and engage Bass head on, while he demonstrates his new moves for their enjoyment. He could only assume that it meant something related to ki, perhaps a beam or a blast - because Duke Satan could not get even more excited by the prospect.
"Ahahaha! Let's get this show on the road!" he yelled out, complete with a jolly laugh, as he stepped forward and stomped his foot on the ground, picking up a small cloud of dust with his sheer stretch. Briefly fixing his sunglasses and striking a bright smile, the Duke clenched his fists, getting ready for battle.

Once Ahri had finished speaking, she looked at the faces of the three warriors waiting. All three of them are in the clearing for one reason, to test their individual strength, abilities and power. Ahri's eyes first rested on Kiryu, who was talking about the newcomer's entrance. In the end, it didn't bother anyone too much, as more people simply made combat more exciting for Ahri. She thought back to her regular sparring sessions with her mother and brother for a split second, before getting pulled back into reality.
"I guess."
She replied nonchalantly, now turning towards the new fighter, his sunglasses and thick beard being the two most prominent features to the young woman. The man introduced himself as Duke Luciferius Satan, and after a moment, she thought about the ancient books she had read when she was younger, reading about the original Mr. Satan, who was the supposed, 'greatest martial artist of all time'. Idly, she wondered if the two shared a family relation. She ultimately decided to keep quiet on that matter, for now. As the man introduced himself, Ahri returned the nod, introducing herself to him.
"Nice to meet you too, name's Ahri, but you can call me A.I."
She then regarded the blue skinned Namekian, who appeared to be the one who possessed the immense power that she had sensed before. She wondered if he had gotten as strong as he is currently through training, or by other means. She could always ask once their training session is complete. The Namek introduced himself as Bass, and surprisingly, requested that all three of the weaker fighters fight him, all at the same time. Ahri was wondering if there was more to the Namekian standing in front of them than what meets the eye. His full power must be larger than the three of the other fighters combined, if he is suggesting something as crazy as that. A two on one sounded tough enough, a three on one sounded insane. She looked at the Namek for a while, until she turned to look at Kiryu, who seemed to have a slight change in nature as he addressed Bass. Ahri did feel like the Namek may have truly bit off more than he could chew. If you were a trained fighter, you'd definitely fared better in a fight where you are outnumbered.
Ahri wondered if the blue skinned alien that stood in front of her could take all three of them at once. She would be immensely disappointed and dissatisfied with herself should she, Duke and Kiryu all lose while working together. She turned to face Kiryu as he announced his plan of action, which Ahri wholeheartedly agreed with. He did seem more intelligent, after all. Ahri heard a loud and joyous yell erupt from the tall man's mouth, seemingly ready for action. Ahri somewhat copied his actions, standing in front of Kiryu and turned towards the blue Namekian.
"Yeah, let's do this!"
She cracked her knuckles and lossened her shoulder, preparing herself for a bit of combat. She knee she would be outclassed, but if the three fighters worked together flawlessly, defeating Bass shouldn't be too hard in her opinion.

As tensions rose and all the fighters prepared for a clash, Bass simply observes. It wasn't as if he hadn't been training since the last time those who'd met him... Namely being the singular Earthling, had seen him. In most recent times he had decided perhaps his neglect of the mental arts was misplaced in truth, that it was important for mind and body to work in unison. Perhaps he took his own advice that he gave Cayle back before this whole adventure in the Southern Lands started. Regardless, his gaze moved between the three of them.
For the most part it appeared as if the fighters were just preparing. Both Duke Luciferius Satan and Ahri otherwise known as A.I were just preparing, and if he had to take a guess they both were excited for an opportunity to fight, as was he. Though Kiryu had a very different language to his body, a very different face. If he was to place it in all the years he'd worked in an office and talked with others, he'd place it somewhere between rage, disgust and perhaps even envy. It was difficult to discern which out of the three of if it was all three. Most likely the former with less likelihood attributed to the latter two. Though why? It was fairly obvious why when the Namekian thought in hindsight.
Narrowing his own eyes he'd square up, raising his fists. He spoke as his aura gradually intensified. "Do not think this challenge comes from a place of pride, I expect success less than I do failure as much as I hate the prospect of losing. It is not confidence, but courage that lead me to ask for an opportunity to very well lose a fight. Though losing is just lightning another fire to propel yourself forward in this world, and I'm thankful if that comes to pass for the additional motivation to become stronger." His attention remained on Kiryu as he considered saying more, and he'd get out with it.
"I would expect nothing less kid. You'd be insulting the both of us if you held anything back. I do know that much for certain. Your intelligence and my power. I expect all of you to use every trick that exists in the book. You'll know within seconds who will win this fight. So we cannot afford for you to be surprised if you would be." He said, before closing his eyes but for a moment to inhale. Truthfully he was using it to try and sense out the adjusting power levels around him. Though his technique was so poor he could only tell generally they went higher as power levels normally do just before a fight. His was absolutely no exception.
With a small ripple his body got even more muscular, his shirt tightened a little and his pants accommodated with a simple stretch. The aura that was around him was frankly visible to the eye he was exuding so much ki. He'd gotten even more powerful with whatever he just did. Plateauing in power for the moment, his gaze trained on the others and his body became ready to burst into action at a moments notice.
"Use everything you have. I'd rather get crushed than win this battle if all goes well."

It would soon become clear exactly why this battle was going to be three against one. Upon explaining his philosophy towards victory and defeat, and recognizing that defeat is necessary to propel yourself forward in this world with motivation, Bass displayed just how much power he has gotten stored in that body of his. Witnessing him power up, display a visible aura around his body, something which Duke Satan has never witnessed with his own eyes before, got the towering giant of a noble to release a powerful, excited laugh. "Hahaha, this is amazing!" The Duke did not respond with a power up of his own - instead, he smashed his fists onto one another, releasing a slight shockwave across the air around him, and tensed up his muscles to their utmost capacity. No aura burst into life around him, but his strength dramatically rose nonetheless. Sure, it was nothing compared to the sheer power which Bass was able to put out, nor was it going to be all that impressive whem compared to his allies, he was sure - however, this was exactly the type of motivator which the Namekian had been talking about. He lived with the prospect of seeing the most powerful martial artists of the planet, of witnessing just how powerful they could possibly get, and do something to help foster this amazing community - and thus, being overwhelmed by the sheer strength of a martial artist he hasn't met before was not a defeat. It was, in fact, a victory. Now, to see if Bass is able to act upon this great strength. In of itself, having an amazing amount of ki within your body is good, but it is not the only determining principle of a fight. There is technique, skill, talent... "Let's get it on!" Duke Satan announced, raising his right hand up and moving into a basic, yet nonetheless effective fighting stance. [WC: 317 / 1417] Defensive Phase

Post by Kiryu on Oct 2, 2019 11:36:35 GMT -8
Kiryu's eyes narrowed as Bass began to power up. The gesture seemed mostly pointless to the Earthling; Bass's power level already far outstripped that of any of the other warriors present. It climbing even higher seemed as though it was a meaningless flexing of his might, but Kiryu supposed that there were those that would have been daunted by that. Kiryu, of course, had been aware of the gaps in their strength for a long time. Ever since their first meeting, Kiryu had known that he was going to have to pull some serious rabbits out of hats to compete with Bass. Even so, Kiryu was still slightly taken aback by just how far Bass's strength had gone. That sapling that he had taken must have had some crazy qualities to cause Bass to grow so strong from it. In sharp contrast to Bass's overt display, Kiryu's power did not explode out of him, did not wash over anyone else with pressure, did not cause the very environment around them to shudder and groan in protest. Instead, as he had so many times before, Kiryu needed the ki inside of himself, building it up, shaping and forming the spiritual energy to respond to his mental commands. As most of those gathered had witness before, Kiryu's ki coated him like a second skin. This time, however, the outline of it changed. Instead of being a mere translucent shell over his skin, this time, the ki armor had a definitive shape. The head had taken the shape of a flanged, horned kabuto, with a battle mask covering what would have been it's lower jaw, displaying a fierce snarl. The rest of the body had manifested as a bipedal humanoid clad in scaled lamellar armor. It was still translucent, and Kiryu was still visible inside, but this was clearly a departure from how his armor normally manifested itself. After calling upon this power, Kiryu then did something mundane; like in his fight with A.I., Kiryu broke open a small capsule, allowing the contents to be absorbed into his skin. He could immediately feel the restorative properties of the tincture go to work, replenishing the small amount of ki that he had used. After that was done, Kiryu focused. He had recently found a magic ring, of all things, but it required a bit of an investiture of some of his energy to function. While he had yet to find a way around that, he had more than enough ki at the moment, and the platinum band around his left middle finger began to glow as his energy poured into it. It was that at moment that Kiryu's trusty ki orbs, the ones that had seen him through so many battles, appeared over his head, at Kiryu's mental command. One of them raced out towards Bass, ready to outline his movements so that Kiryu could dodge and react at a moment's notice. "We're going to have to try to fight smart," he told Duke Satan and Ahri. "I've been thinking about how this fight is going to play out for a long time. Bass is too strong to hope that a couple of big attacks are going to break through; we're going to have to wear him down, make him burn through his ki, try to exhaust him. Of course... we're going to have to stay conscious long enough to do that, and I have the feeling that's not going to be the easiest feat in the world."Kiryu bounced up and down on the balls of his feet, throwing a few jabs, kicks and other strikes to the air to ensure that he was good and limbered. "I'll start him off with a good salvo, though, don't worry about that. I will do everything I can to make it so that Bass can't ignore me. That should leave the two of you free to get in some shots."Kiryu knew he was a distant second, compared to Bass, but he was still quite a bit stronger than A.I. and Duke Satan, so it was assuredly going to be his job to draw Bass's fire. He wasn't sure if he could handle a prolonged assault from Bass, but he was quite certain that he could dodge better than Ahri, and looking at Duke Satan's powerful, but quite large, body, he assumed the same was true of his fellow Earthling. A feral grin spread across Kiryu's face as he moved, falling into a defensive, ready stance. His left palm was open, towards Bass, and Kiryu smirked before turning his palm to face himself, and beckoning Bass with a 'come hither' motion. "Let's not kid ourselves. We've both been waiting for this. It's time to see if I've got what it takes to go toe to toe with you, so let's stop talking and start fighting!"

The fighters prepared for battle, fists clenching, senses sharpening, eyebrows furrowing, grins flashing. The very air around the area they stood in seemed to tense, as the soothing breeze stopped flying about. The young woman had still drawn her thoughts towards the true power of this blue skinned Namekian, as he rambled on about pride, losing, courage, yada, yada, yada. Ahri was never one to make or listen to speeches, as she felt that they could be easily shortened, and wasted people's precious time on Earth. Once the blue alien finished his dialogue, however, he would show the group something unseen by Ahri's eyes. His true power. With seemingly nothing but a motion and a thought, Bass' aura burst to life around him, forcing his power level to jump massively. Ahri's eyes nearly fell out of its sockets as she took in the rush of the moment. The Namekian's power level was almost ten times her own, sitting comfortably at a colossal amount. Ahri felt outclassed, already knowing that she didn't stand a chance of winning against the large power level in front of her. She had felt this feeling before, but to be so weak when compared to another... so insignificant..... Ahri's grin widened as she saw Bass power up, now knowing the full extent of his power. She heard a rather booming voice to her right, the Duke's power rising considerably. He still couldn't compare to Bass, in fact, none of them could. The three opposing fighters combined still didn't come close to matching Bass. This was not a battle that could be won through brute force, and Ahri disliked it. She fought with brute force, and brute force only. If one attack didn't work, try it again, and push more ki into it. That summed up most of Ahri's strategy when dealing with any type of opponent. Knowingly, she replied to the Namek's final words, much like Satan did. "Let's go....."She heard Kiryu begin to speak, and she turned to listen to his strategy, which repeated what Ahri was thinking in her head, at least some of it. She didn't listen too intently, rather focusing her thoughts on how she approached Bass, mentally readying herself for a fight. While the others all increased their powers, Ahri began to charge her ki. In a similar way to how Kiryu gathered his ki, Ahri had no aura burst around her, in contrast to the Namek's explosive power up. Instead of a dazzling, blinding light, a soft glow radiated from her form, tiny wisps of generic white ki sparking upwards. The ki began to leave the other parts of her figure, settling around her two fists. She cracked her glowing knuckles a second time, her face contorting from a cocky look to one of seriousness. Leaping forward, she moved towards Bass, ignoring whatever the other two fighters did, carelessly leaving Kiryu's side without alerting any of the fighters. She tossed the first at Bass' face, then tossed the second towards his gut. She took care to not place her full force into the punches, as she wished to test the Namekian's speed. If he was all power and no reflex, the fight might prove to be easier than she had originally thought. On the other hand, if Bass was all power and reflex, Ahri doubted if they stood even a slight chance.

Post by Bass on Oct 2, 2019 19:13:28 GMT -8
And so it began.
It was finally to take that which he had taught himself to it's limit. A limit which he'd never been able to display at it's fullest, only given an opportunity now that he was faced with overwhelming odds. Two of them were of few words, but as he'd expected Kiryu was the one who started controlling the scene. Bass always believed Kiryu possessed some form of leadership capability, even if it was in a different way than his own style. Still, the words which he gave were wise. To truly win a fight with one hundred percent certainty you have to put in everything you're possibly capable of. And in that moment motion began as immensely powerful forces collided.
The Namekian watched as Ahri burst from her place, something that he already disagreed with unless she had the capability to pull back in time. Though he wouldn't assume based on their current actions, he'd consider their optimal tactics and play it safe with that route. As Ahri came in with a fist flying for the large blue figure, an open palm came in the way and clenched closed over the fist only to quickly throw it to the side. However another fist came from the fierce warrior and slammed him across the face, causing his head to rotate thirty degrees opposing the strikes oncoming direction. While certainly a hit with punch, there was a mean looking scuff that would perhaps bruise, but with his Namekian Physiology not much else could be expected.
Taking in a deep breath he turned his head back and immediately kicked into action, shouting. "Sorry, kid! Though if I want to stand a chance I can't play into your hand!" He'd roar mostly because he was exerting himself while trying to talk, not because he was intentionally shouting so to speak. His entire body seemed to move slowly for half a second, before it snapped forward at a speed which seemed uncanny to put it mildly. A fist coming from below attempted to slam into Ahri's stomach of hopes to send her soaring into the sky above. If it connected he'd follow up with a chain attack, bursting from the ground at a speed which almost had him winking out of vision for a fraction of a moment.
Appearing alongside Ahri should she have not avoided the first strike he'd bring both hands overhead into a massive clenched duo, his forearms growing in a pseudo-gigantification only to attempt to slam down on her general mass in hopes of sending her flying like a bullet into the ground below. If the attack was successful he'd slam down alongside her fist aimed to slam right into her stomach in a mighty crescendo to a powerful combo that he'd unleashed on the warrior. While it was likely some would miss, the intensity and power in general was currently unprecedented. Bass was a fighter of raw power, every answer was issued via raw physical capability. Speed, Strength, Reflexes, and it wasn't like he was stupid either. His actions were targeted, attempting to slim down the numbers as fast as he possibly could while also preparing to try and cope with the certain barrage of attacks he would soon be met with.
Standing up, he outstretched his hand towards Ahri regardless of her current circumstance and fired off two small marble sized balls of blue ki towards her. They would pack a force incomparable to their size, but ultimately their damage wouldn't be as precise as one might assume. Instead it was a general wave of force akin to a lighter punch thrown from a distance. With his barrage finished, he simply paid a short glance upwards to analyze the state of the battlefield, and to brace for what was to come.

Post by Duke Satan on Oct 3, 2019 2:43:28 GMT -8
And so the battle began. After the Earthling's orders - and he still hasn't figured out what the fellow Earthling's name was, that was going to get awkward if he was going to ask for help or directions later on - Ahri charged forth. She didn't seem to be the type to wait and let Bass have the first move - moving faster than the untrained eye could track, she sent a combination of powerful physical blows. Their sheer speed and power could be felt even from a distance, sending a lovely tinge of excitement through the Duke's body - however, it did not appear that Bass was as affected as they might want. A welcome opening strike, but one which possibly did more harm than good, seeing as Ahri was now straight in the Namekian's pummeling range. Him and his ally stood a bit of a distance away, but that did not mean that they could not help. In a battle between martial artists as powerful as these, Duke Satan couldn't help but feel outgunned. Just the pressure which Bass's aura emitted was overwhelming in its own right, and he hasn't even been dealt a single blow yet. He was no martial artist like his ancestor, either, just a massive fan of martial arts. All he could claim for himself was the routine he would go through every day. Sleep. Drink water. Exercise. Eat bread. And watch an action movie. Was it going to be enough, though?.. "Let's give this a shot..." The Duke stepped forward, pressing his foot on the ground and pushing away dust with his stomp, and withdrew his right fist. After a few seconds of locking onto the Namekian while he was busy attacking Ahri with everything he possibly had... the man sent his fist forward. Just like in a martial arts movie. Suddenly, the sheer speed and force of his punch sent a powerful torrent of air, rolling across the entire battlefield and aiming to engulf the Namekian in its unstoppaple might. Post by Kiryu on Oct 3, 2019 12:27:27 GMT -8
Kiryu frowned. Some shallow, pedantic part of himself wanted to call Bass out for targeting the other fighters before him. The simple fact was, however, that Bass's strategy was the correct one. Thing the numbers as best you could. Deny the strength of numerical superiority as soon as possible. It was, from the warrior's standpoint, the correct move, and if Kiryu wanted an honorable, one on one duel with Bass, he was certain that all he would have to do would be to ask. This wasn't that, however. This was a chaotic melee fracas designed to help all of the participants grow in ways that they would never be able to on their own. That meant that it was time to adapt. Bass seemed to thrive against such numbers and he let loose a terrifyingly powerful sequence of attacks against Ahri. Kiryu saw the second one coming, though, and rocketed towards Ahri and Bass. He was able to deflect Bass's arms just enough that they missed Ahri, and Kiryu exhaled, relieved. "I can't let you just go nuts on us... time to make this a little more difficult for you!"At that, Kiryu's eyes glowed, exuding a bright silver light. Kiryu was no longer seeing just flesh; instead, he could see the chakra pathways inside Bass. They looked like nothing to Kiryu's altered vision so much as glowing blue ropes. There were several points along those ropes that seemed thicker than the others, and Kiryu focused on attacking those points, for from his training, he knew those to be pressure points that doubled as ki pathways. Kiryu struck at those points in rapid succession, faster than he ever had, focusing his entire being on interfering with the flow of Bass's ki. At the end of the sequence of attacks, Kiryu back flipped away. Once he landed, he fired one of his ki bullets towards Bass, hoping that the armor piercing nature of his technique would see great success against the tough as nails Namekian. As an added bonus, his ki armor fired off a burst of ki, seeming to explode straight from Kiryu's torso. It wouldn't hurt, much, but every little bit helped against so powerful an opponent. Another of Kiryu's ki orbs blinked over to replace the one he had sent before. Since Bass had not attacked him, it had not reacted, but he could not take the chance that Bass would not turn his assault toward Kiryu.
