Melody was being pushed back by a barrage of strikes she could hardly tell as either punches or kicks, effectively blocking with the flat side of her blade with one hand firmly on the grip and the other pressed against middle of her sword.
There was absolutely no reason to stop trying to hit him back with everything she had using her blade.

"You really should give up. No matter what you are or are not, I am not going to just lay down and die. And you do!n't have the skill inside you to kill me." He said as he threw up a block of the strike she swung at him, before swinging his fists and feet once again in a flurry of spinning kicks and punches. Melody could feel the last bit of her ki drained into the last attempt of blocking with the flat end of her sword. All of the bruises on her body were aching. The Duchess’ violet eyes winced as sweat dripped from her lashes. Almost out of breath she used every bit of her might to swing her sword again, in the back of her mind she wanted it to be over, but she did not want to give up either.

Koma did not hear the words "I give up" exactly, but the sword swings she brought forth were laughably easy to dodge and the former warlord made sure she knew that as he threw forth another volley of punches, kicks, elbow jabs, and knees. The last assault was a blur as Melody was rendered unconscious, feeling the defeat as if it were all a bad dream, and the battle itself carried on for so long that it was approaching a new dawn as the last indication of the time it took for it to finally end. By the time she regained consciousness she found herself inside the cab of the truck, she had no recollection of how she arrived there, and all of her wounds had been patched up. It was a sign that her opponent was not completely heartless despite the fact that he was hitting her without any hesitation; which she was also guilty of doing.
The Duchess felt the stiffness of locked muscles, groaning as she did a perfect sit up, and looked over to the fire spit that was no longer embers, and sighed as she was very late to get back home with the delivery of mushroom stalks. In the back of her mind she was hoping they were still fresh enough to splice with the mushrooms the villagers intended to use it for. With her taped up hands, a few of the fingers had splints, and she found it odd that anyone would know which finger was broken without being a doctor. Since her hands were so small it was possible he was able to determine which fingers were broken based on the angle. The only thing Koma failed to check for with her being unconscious was the fact that she had internal injuries, and her neck felt so painful she thought her head would roll back and break without enough support.
There was a bit of ki left for her to function, placing her hand on the keys still left on the ignition to start the engine and drive the truck from the South Lands to the Western Lands to return to Truffle Village.

You did not survive as many battles as Koma had without knowing how to bandage, splint, and otherwise provide basic emergency care to wounds and injuries- it was simply not something you would be able to pick up and be able to survive. If you could not bandage yourself you couldn’t expect someone else to do it, either.
So the dark haired, slate grey eyed samurai had done exactly that, even going so far as to sit his defeated opponent in the cab of her truck and shutting the door behind her. Then he went back to his food, finished it and packed up his cooking utensils to clean and then continue his travel down the road of life. Koma was not a man with a home or even dreams of a home after so long being a vagabond and so long having his homes destroyed, so he simply continued his travels down the road of life.
The man who was the last to wear the mon of the Bear Clan continued down the road of life, having bandaged himself and reset his own bones and stitched up his wounds. Beaten and exhausted, he none the less felt energized. If there were enemies that strong, he had a far way to go before he could truly be the best, before he could truly find the path up the mountain which called itself revenge.
