As the WMAT is a pretty big deal and will have somewhat different rules due to the context, this thread will try and index everyone's questions and the staff's answers from the Discord and DMs and such-like.
Furthermore, if anyone has some questions they'd rather leave here than on the Discord server's 'Mechanics and Game Questions' channel, then feel free to leave them as a reply here and we'll get back to you!
Q1: Are the Power Level caps on the various divisions final?
Not quite yet! They're still being discussed, but no matter the limits decided there will inevitably be characters who squeak just under or over.
Q2: Are any Items or Techniques illegal given the context of the tournament?
Yes, though most can be reflavoured to match the situation.
So far, the only items that are definitely banned is the use of Vehicles, Stronghold effects (such as M.O.M.) and Special Items - no pulling out all those wacky event bonuses to become the champion this time! Vehicles are more divisive, but unless it's a core part of the character it's probably unreasonable for the judges to allow someone to bring a car in with them.
Technically, Sidekick items are allowed, but they'll have to be reflavoured as extra techniques and attacks rather than actual other characters. - or, maybe even cheering their host on and offering the true power of friendship. Other techniques and items that are roleplayed as support from other characters will have to be handled similarly, unless they can be justified as appearing as a solo entry. Mechanically, they'll be identical, but in-character they'll have to be flying solo.
Q3: Will I need to worry about anything else in terms of battle flavour, given the WMAT is an official event?
In general, the competition is non-lethal as fights are determined by knock-out; so guns, swords, and other weapons should be reflavoured or at least used appropriately. Similarly, typically lethal techniques should be given less-than-lethal variations as well. Mechanically, they'll be the same as normal, though.
Q4: Can I attempt multiple entry methods?
Yep! You can gamble on the lottery entry and then have another one as a back-up, and maybe you might get recruited for a team for the 4-star division anyway!
Q5: Will there be ring-outs?
They're always welcome to be roleplayed, but at the moment the staff are still discussing whether or not there'll be rules for them and how best to balance them. Most likely there will be some sort of mechanic for it, but we haven't got anything concrete to announce just yet.
Q6: Can I still submit WMAT NPC entries for the earlier contest for them?
Yes, for the time-being. That event will be closing soon, though, as sign-ups are now underway.
