Appearance: Standing a little on the small side for a giant monster at twenty feet tall on all fours. Kavram bears many of the hallmarks of the armadillo that she once was, namely the armoured plating covering her body, the claw tipped fore and rear legs and the snout tipped face. Unlike her kind however, her skin and plating are vastly different shades, the armouring of the monster being a dusty brown, while her skin is almost teal or turquoise in the right light. In addition, the changes to her included a set of rather heavy set spikes embedded into the armour and made of what is probably stone, most of the spikes are chipped and broken, giving the surface of them a strange sharpness due to the jagged edges. Someone saw fit to equip this beast with a harness containing more of these rock spikes across it’s stomach to increase its protection from attacks from below. Kavram’s eyes when seen are actually a deep purple and have human like pupils.
Personality: To say that Kavram is a little on the stoic side is an understatement. Her deep distrust of anything that is not her own species has hit heights where it will refuse to even attempt to communicate outside of animalistic intimidation attempts and roars of frustration. With her own however, she is a tender and nurturing mother, the large creature actually capable of being delicate and soft when not in a threatening situation. Alas there is not too much to the beast, some level of what humans would consider a conscious thought pattern, but without the kind of social upbringing that would result in something even resembling friendliness. Kavram is unlikely to warm up to another creature beyond tolerance of their presence, and woe betide any that try to harm her young.
History: Weapons of war are oft sought after by those with little sense save for vague dreams of taking over the world. Such was the fate of a small armadillo, having been randomly picked up by a small collective of folk. They had decided that what they needed to take over the world was a giant monster under their control so that they could use it to break cities and crush all who stood in their way. It was a sound enough idea except for maybe one major problem. They had not taken a small armadillo and raised it to be obedient to their whims, instead they had kidnapped an expecting female, then used their magical prowess to make it swell exponentially and then altered it further. Grafting some additional armour to its underside to cover for a vulnerability.
Assumedly, this strange cult had some plans to control the armadillo, but the particular decision to do so was never discovered as the giant kavram became agitated and thrashed its way out of its holding chains and surrounding building. Crushing it and the cult underfoot rather unceremoniously. Confused and rather lost since everything was the wrong size and smelled wrong to the mutated creature. Kavram as it had been dubbed by the cult made its way towards a mountain range, the only thing big enough to make it feel something like home due to finding a place to tunnel enough to hide and lay her egg. That was over a century ago, and now as her eggs have hatched. The Giant monster ventures forth in search of food, or possible safety for her new brood.
RP Sample:
Kavram’s eyes snapped open, she had been slumbering for so long. She’d just felt so tired after all the strangeness and of having dug herself into a nice safe place to hatch her young that she’d almost forgotten that she felt wrong. That her body was different to what her instincts told her it should be. Moving felt unnatural, plain weird, but she had little option but to start moving now. The noise that had disturbed her slumber had been twofold. One was the faintest of cracking noises from her eggs. Her little ones were starting to hatch. The other was a muffled noise from far above. A constant mechanical whir that grated against the beasts ears and caused her agitation. As the mutated creature turned its head this way and that to try and isolate the noise she quickly figured out that it was coming nearer. Grunting and getting back to her feet she stood protectively over her children and awaited this intruder with a murderous glint in her eye. They had dared to invade her nest. Threatened her children? This would not go unpunished.
As the noise came closer, Kavram braced herself for whatever it was to land upon her. What she hadn’t expected was the ceiling coming down around her in its entirety. As she shrugged off the rubble around her and glared upwards to see what the intruder was. She saw little more than a tunnel and a retreating object that was projecting light. The tunnel was far too small for her to follow it down so she started digging her way up, chasing the strange creature and making failed attempts top snatch at it with her front claws.
For the miners above, their drill had encountered a cavernous space right before the weakened “roof” of stalagtites collapsed onto something only half seen on the cameras below. They’d quickly retracted the drill, intending to rope down and inspect the damage and indeed the creature of the cavern. If there was wildlife down there. They’d have to find a way to gently remove them from the space or halt operations. They hadn’t expected the sudden rumbling, the drills camera catching the armoured plat and claws chasing it and carving its own tunnel up as it did so. The men took one look at one another and fled the scene. Knowing nothing good was going to come from what was coming up to the surface.
Kavram’s quarry finally stopped in a space of light. THe outside surely? The creature burst forth from it’s tunnel, curling up into a ball as it did so and slammed into the other. Slamming the drill out of its housing and sending it sailing out of the warehouse in which it was being used. The kaju stretched back out, forcing against the corrugated steel of the walls and roof before lashing out around her. The thrashing collapsed the roof around her and caused the walls to fall outwards. Kavram slowly turned her head this way and that for a moment before slowly shrugging off the remains of the roof from its shoulders with a loud clang. The foe had been defeated and the hunt was on for food for her young.
