Personal Information Name: Shell Alias: Son of the Demon King Gender: Male Age: 34
Species: Namekian Clan: Demon Clan Lineage: Piccolo Daimao
Theme Song: "Scared of the Dark" - Ty$ ft. Lil Wayne & XXXTenacion Voice Actor: Brandon Soohoo
Physical Information Height: 6' 4" Weight: 176 lbs Hair: N/A Hair Color: N/A Eye Color: Red Complexion: Dark Teal
Clothing Shell's clothing is largely designed for looseness of movement. He tends to wear typical martial artist's pants, usually in light colors like white or gray. Above that, Shell usually wears a dark blue, sash-like top, usually only covering one shoulder. The style of the sash changes slightly, as does which shoulder he ties it over, but he tends to keep his chitinous shoulder free and open to avoid restricting its movement. His garb is very reminiscent of monk-like martial artists, who favor mobility over modesty. Even when wearing more "Traditional" namekian garb, Shell will alter the longer coats and cloaks so that they avoid his chitin arm. Its many sharp points and barbs tend to snag on clothing that gets too close. To accentuate, Shell will wear a weighted belt and a weighted wristband on his normal arm and both ankles in a light blue color, as well as occasional necklaces, rings, and other jewelry. Shell tends to dislike wearing full shoes, since he uses the claws on his feet to fight as much as he does the claws on his hands, instead favoring foot wrappings or just going barefoot.
Description In the grand scheme of things, Shell is a young namekian. His physiology represent that. He still has growing to do, and is not at his full height, even if he's already over six feet tall. But his body tends to be slimmer due to his youth, not thickening with the corded muscle of the eventual age he'll develop. So he looks, pun intended, like a string bean. The tealish blue-green skin coloring is slightly abnormal for namekians of the warrior and dragon clans, but for someone like Shell, born into the demon clan, his skin color is far from remarkable. It's a natural reflection of the dark impurities that birthed him, the twisted results of Piccolo Daimao's malice and hatred. Along with his deep coloring are the red eyes, the mark of the demon clan surely. Coupled with the sharp fangs in his mouth and the wicked, talon-like claws on his hands and feet, Shell is rather vicious by namekian standards. It is hard to mistake him as anything other than a demon clan member.
More abnormal, however, is the chitin-encased left arm Shell possesses. The source of his name, the armor-like appendage is a more extreme mutation from the demon king's darkness. Shell was lucky to retain his normal namekian form, so close as he was to being fully transformed like some of his brothers. The chitinous arm is full of sharp barbs and hornlike appendages, although their placement makes them more intimidating than dangerous. Watch out if you try and grab him from behind, though, as the horn on his shoulder can easily stab someone who is unprepared! The same chitinous armor covers his chest, as well as forms a 'crown' across his upper brow, replacing his normal antenna with boney protrusions.

Personality To say that Shell has been burned is an understatement. Most people, when they see the dark skin, talons, and red eyes that mark him as demon clan, will immediately assume he comes from his father, to coerce, destroy, or otherwise cause trouble. He is the first people look to blame, and his chitinous arm draws attention just like a stutter or a deformity would. At his core, Shell wants to believe that all people are worth saving, but when you've been on the receiving end of bullshit your entire life...your worldview shrinks. Shell's has as well. Shell's primary drive is to protect the people who give him a chance. His loyalty has to be opted into, and Shell is notably cool or distant to people until they can prove that what he looks like isn't what they judge him on. And his cut-off is like an iron curtain. It has to be. Shell shuts out the world before it has a chance to shut him out. He'll save someone in "his circle" from a burning building, leaving a stranger behind to die in that same building. The only group of people who this does not extend to, who are immediately "his people" until they prove otherwise, are namekians. All namekians, regardless of clan, are "his people" and he will fight to defend them. Even if they don't want his help. Even if they accuse him of trouble. He'll save your kid and then be yelled at by the mom because 'he's a devil'. It is the constant barb that reminds him of how he used to behave. The pain that he chooses.
Because deep down, Shell wants to belong among his namekian brethren. He studies the culture of the other clans. The demon clan is a perversion of what he should be. Of what he could be. Piccolo Daimao twists his brothers into monstrous forms instead of birthing pure namekians. Shell just wants to belong with his own people. It is, in fact, the primary rift that separates him from his father. He does not forgive him for the monstrous arm he was given, or for the way the demon king devours what he views as "lesser namekians" in order to extend his own life. A king who does not value the lives of his subjects is no king at all, and Piccolo Daimao only views his own life as worthy of saving. Shell refuses to be that.
Note that Shell's objection isn't with his ruthlessness, his willingness to kill, or other "moral" complaints. It is about loyalty to the people Daimao claims to rule. Shell is born with the malice of King Piccolo inside him, so he finds no compunction with being brutal or ruthless. Remember: he leaves those not in his circle to die without a second thought or an ounce of guilt. He believes that those powerful enough to set the rules should set them. And if they prove to be wrong for their position, equalling might is the recourse. Dethrone them. If someone poses a bigger threat by leaving them alive? Kill them. Shell's goodness is mirrored by his darkness, and he aims to harness both in equal measure. He believes that to deny the darkness in him, or in anyone, is weakness. Only someone truly strong can use that darkness and still achieve the correct result. Not to say that he is as gone as King Piccolo. He has lines he does not cross, and his ruthlessness does not extend to those to whom he is loyal. But when the need arises, and other heroes will not make the choice that needs to be made: Shell will do it for them.
He also won't lie about it. Shell refuses to be anything other than what he is. He is blunt and honest. Do not ask him questions you don't want answers to. He has to be, again, that wall he's had to build around himself. He used to try and wheedle and placate. He'd lie if he thought it made him more approachable. He's learned better. He's always going to be a demon clan namekian with a chitin arm, and people will always expected the worst of him. So let them. He'll be who and what he is without apologizing. He sees that as strength and something to be admired.
History Shell is the latest child of Piccolo Daimao. He was created in opposition to Piccolo Jr's absolutely failure in the eyes of their father. Instead of being a worthy successor, Piccolo joined and defended the very people Daimao was trying to eliminate. It was the ultimate betrayal, and King Piccolo stewed over it for decades before deciding to try again at birthing a son. The last time, he'd tried a pure reincarnation. A body with no demonic impurities, who, despite being one of Daimao's children, looked entirely like a traditional namekian. With Shell, he chose differently. It was Piccolo's goodness that made him an unworthy successor. In trying to create the perfect namekian to replace him, Daimao had held back too much of his malice and hatred, creating what he sees as a 'weak' son. So Shell was mixed with just a bit of the transformative malice that produced the dragon-like forms of Cymbal and Tambourine. A splash of darkness that would taint his soul, but would not fully transform like his bestial brothers. What he birthed was a dark-skinned, demon clan child whose impurities created a chitinous, barbed arm. Daimao was certain that this would be his successor. His true son, whom he named Shell in honor of the arm that marked him as a member of the demon clan
King Piccolo was destined for disappointment.
Shell was truly like Piccolo, but more ruthless; less suffused with goodness. He could harness the dark demonic energies King Piccolo used to fight, and for the first decade or so of life was exactly what Daimao wanted in him. But as Shell began to age, and truly inherit his own will, he saw imperfections in his father's kingdom. King Piccolo was a terrible ruler. He destroyed wantonly and as the mood suited him. Sometimes he would obliterate people who had succeeded in their missions. He was unhinged and ruled by his lesser passions. In addition, Shell took immediate offense with the way King Piccolo would pervert the birthing of namekians to form the hideous beasts that were the members of demon clan. Call it teenage insecurity, but Shell hated his chitin arm, and blamed Piccolo for cursing him with it. Admittedly, its ability to handle demonic energies made him a better fighter, but it also marked him indelibly as "other" in the eyes of other namekians. Hell, warrior and dragon clan namekians viewed Shell's brothers as no better than beasts to be eradicated. And all of that was King Piccolo's fault. Instead of being an ascendant heir to a great kingdom, he was instead the mutated child of a shattered group of namekians. And therein formed the rift between father and son.
Not that the rift was a bad thing. Shell never abandoned the lack of morality Daimao instilled in him, but his goal became different: be a better king. A king for all namekians, not just the demon clan. Unite the clans and replace his father with someone stronger, better for having suffered. So, rather than live under his insane father, he left him, striking out from the demon lands to immerse himself in the world. And there he found heartache.
In the demon lands he was a princeling. In the outside world he was a monster. People would hide from him, attack him on site, assume he was on business from Piccolo, or worse, was a raider or slaver. Humans, Saiyans, Beastmen, they all treated him with pointed disdain. Even the namekians, his own people for whom he was fighting, kept him at arms length. They were slightly more welcoming of the demon clan member who claimed to have eschewed King Piccolo. But he was relegated to the edges of their settlements. He received barely tolerance, when he craved acceptance. And he was always mocked or belittled. Even in heroic acts, people would be more worried that he'd caused the trouble than they were grateful that he fixed it.
This life hardened the heart of the idealistic namekian prince. No more could he claim to care about everyone. No more could he say all lives were worth his trouble. His circle began to grow smaller. Only those who first showed him decency were admitted into his protection. He watched homes burn or get covered in rubble, and while he felt shamed to ignore it, he gave such tragedies a wide berth. Otherwise he'd simply be blamed for them. Slowly it became clear who he could trust and who he couldn't. But the little boy with dreams of grandeur couldn't ignore his own people like he could humans, saiyans, or the like. He continued to help them wherever he could, because even if they were cold to him, even if they gave him jeers, they had first given him grudging acceptance, if not warmth. He began to realize there was only way he could truly earn their respect. A deed so great that no namekian could possibly deny him. And once he'd accomplished it...he could purify the demonic malformations of the demon clan. Shell would fix the dragonballs. He would dethrone his father. And he would rule them all. One unified namekian clan. It was battered, bruised, and been through the ringer, but Shell could do it. He was patient and hardworking. And he had time.

"Haaah!" Shell roared out as he hurled a blast of violet-white energy across the ground. The little sphere zoomed forward so fast it seemed to distend and flex in mid-air. It slammed into a tree, cracking the trunk and leaving a basketball-sized dent in the wood, but Shell continued to follow his opponent, determined to bring him to his knees. Energy flared around him as he rocketed forward, his long range attacks not cutting it. Instead he zoomed forward and lashed out with a clawed foot, the energy around him breaking as he raked a foot across his opponent's chest. The attack sent his target tumbling backwards, back out of reach as Shell dropped back to the ground, his momentum spent. He took a moment to gather his breath, rubbing the back of his hand over his mouth.
"Now you and I both know that you did it. You poisoned that well and got that little kid sick," Shell watched as the man picked himself up off the ground. He was a human, probably a bounty hunter employed by Shell's father. He'd made the unfortunate mistake of targeting a village of dragon clan namekians, thinking he could get away with it. "What was the plan? Weaken the adults so they didn't put up a fight when you came to haul them all away? Pathetic. They aren't even warriors. And you were too weak to stand up even to them!? If you want to enslave a man, best make sure you're strong enough to fight him toe to toe." Shell took a step towards the bounty hunter, who lifted a gun and fired off a few shots towards the menacing namekian. Shell just lifted a hand as a shell of purple energy appeared around him, bullets pinging off harmlessly. That made the hunter scared. He started to scuttle backwards, whimpering.
"Now, my brethren are kind. They couldn't prove you did it, so they just asked you to leave. But that is their only water source, you cretin. A namekian child is dead because you were reckless for a payday. And unfortunately for you...I'm here." Shell abided many things. But preying on namekians was one of his sticking points. Shell defended all of them, even if they hated him. Especially children who had done no wrong. "There's no escaping my justice." The smile that followed was predatory, fangs flashing.
It was at this point that bounty hunter realized he was doomed. He leapt to his feet and bolted, sprinting away from the dark-skinned namekian. Shell only grinned wider, and threw one arm forward, fingers outstretched. His arm elongated and snaked through the trees, grabbing the bounty hunter by the collar of his shirt, yanking him back through the trees. By time the bounty hunter had been returned to Shell, he was in a panic, but bound tight. "I only want one word to come out of your mouth. Anything else, and I rip your throat out. Who sent you?"
The bounty hunter looked frightened, but sensing that honesty was the best policy, he shook his head vigorously, stammering only one word, as instructed. "D-d-d-dai-m-m-ma-mao..."
Shell relaxed a little at that. "You are a truly reprehensible man," Shell said, voice laced with hints of disappointment, "I was hoping my father was hiring better men than this in order to betray our people." The man seemed confused at this. Namekians who referred to The Great Demon King as 'my father' usually weren't hostile to his bounty hunters, who were discreetly ordered to kidnap healthy namekians for King Piccolo to forcibly fuse with. "Alas, you're all garbage." Shell said, raising his left arm. It was chitinous, encased in a tan-colored exoskeleton, barbed and wicked looking. He didn't like to use it. But this chump deserved it. A ki blast formed at the end of his demonic arm, this time a dark purple and black, cackling with electricity. The bounty hunter started to struggle, kicking and swinging his arms, which hammered uselessly against the barrier that still hadn't dissipated. Shell simply sighed, the blast detonating against the man's head with the force of a medium sized grenade. Shell dropped the body to the ground. The forest could take him now.
"I need to have a serious talk with my father..."

Blow the Trumpets, blow the shells. ALL HAIL, THE PRINCE OF NAMEKIANS; Shell. Beautiful work, it was an excellent read and feels like it was pulled right from Dragon Ball while fitting well within our setting. Overwhelmingly: APPROVED. Edit: Forgot to give out bonus EXP for the RP Sample, Shell gains 800 EP.
