”Haaaaaah!” Shell fired a beam of energy into a large rock, watching it heat up and then cool down. He did a few more times, violet flashes of light kicking off like localized fireworks. The namekian was training. It wasn’t something usually did. He didn’t like the mundane nature of repeating attacks against nobody over and over again. But he was tired of getting creamed in every battle he stepped foot in. Anyone who wasn’t a scrub level nobody was instantly trouncing the namekian, and it was making him furious. Shell had always been slightly obsessed with his own strength, knowing it was too low to defeat Daimao yet. That’s the whole reason he left, to get stronger than his father and overthrow him. But to be faced with his own weakness repeatedly was getting embarrassing. Bass, Ahri, even Zam outclassed him in their power, and it was absolutely maddening. Zam hardly trained. She just bapped everything in the universe she didn’t like. But her power also seemed to bubble up naturally from within her. Ahri definitely had been doing some training when Shell found her. So she thought it was worthwhile. And that pencil-pushing accountant was the strongest thing Shell had ever seen besides their father. He had let slip he trained a lot. So apparently training was the key to that insane strength. Simply fighting other people would not do the trick.
So he would train.
“Hah!” a purple flash lit up, “Hah!” another hammered the rock. Shell kept going, a staccato rhythm hammering into the side of the rock until the namekian felt his ki getting harder to pull out of him. The beams began to slow down as his body couldn’t produce the energy as quickly as he needed it. He was breathing heavily, and the purple lights faded down as he was bent double at the waist, hands on his knees as he breathed deeply. He straightened up, stretched his arms up to the sky, and felt joints creak and pop. If he needed to push himself to get stronger, he’d try using the technique he’d been developing for some time now. It never quite worked, but he’d been trying to perfect it so he could surprise his father and brothers when next he saw them.
First, the namekian clenched his fists, hollering into the sky as his aura flared up around him. Purple-white ki whipped about, and the force of his exaltation sent the wind rippling. Tree branches were shuddering and shaking. His power spiked as he released energy, rapidly forcing his body to produce new ki and raise his power level. Then he placed his hands a small distance apart, like he was holding a basketball in front of his chest. “Mahakai….” he intoned, feeding the ki into a swirling ball between his hands. The ki was white hot and almost liquid, so a thin, purpleish shell of energy began to film over the explosive ki. The ki sloshed and swirled inside the purple glass ball like it was fighting to get out. And Shell kept pouring energy into it, watching the ball fill more and more, until the white ki was pressed against the edges like an overfull balloon. The strain appeared on the namekian’s face as he funneled energy into the project beyond what it should be able to hold. It was fight back against him. That was a good sign. He needed the orb to reach critical mass.
Then he twisted both hands, and the purple sphere cracked open, a brilliant, dazzling white light searing itself into Shell’s eyes. The namekian roared, and ripped the ball open. “HAAAA!!!” At this point, the ki should have flung open to both sides, and a dome of explosive energy should’ve ripped around him all directions. Instead, what had been happening occurred again. Shell’s energy exploded right in front of him, filling the clearing with a bright, sun-level light that could be seen from miles away. It was like a star exploding. Only it detonated right on Shell, sending him flying backwards into a nearby tree, his clothes smoking. “Motherfucking…” Shell cursed, pushing himself back to his feet. He was aiming to scorch the earth around him, and destroy the rock he had been hammering. Instead the blast had caught him in the chest, and he hissed as he patted out little smoldering flames. He looked pathetic as he brushed himself off.
The attack was a failure, but his surge of power and that dazzling light surely could be seen from across the city, a beacon almost inviting someone to investigate.

An explosion. Another? What the--? The distant cracks and rumbles echoed in resonance with vibrations that gently jostled the a nearby signpost in an inanely stochastic fashion. Saaya was curious; she had learned to be wary of explosions out in the desert, but this wasn't the desert, this was the city. Maybe not the most occupied place but -- BANG! She turned and cocked her head in one fluid motion, raising an eyebrow while her brain worked through the possibilities. Alright, it was worth checking out. At worst it was an incredibly life threatening situation from which should couldn't bother escaping anyways, and at best someone was making some really good food, or so she figured. Maybe her interpretations left room for improvement, but she liked to think of life optimistically!
If there was a chance for good food, she was willing to risk some explosions. She hung a right and walked down the street, trying to act casual. A few passerby's had a bewildered look on their face and glared incredulously at the girl as she turned left down an alley, as though their rubbernecking hobbies were somehow less vicarious than her daring sense of exploration! At least she'd get to the bottom of this! Someone was in danger! And that danger could involve some explosive chicken nuggies!
She arrived at the final turn, an alleyway that lead to an opening into what looked like a construction site. A man, a green man, was howling as he threw ki blast after ki blast at rocks, as though releasing some unbridled fury at some intangible threat. He was smashing enough rocks that it seemed like he might soon make a significant contribution to continental erosion, either way he definitely wasn't making nuggies. Realizing there was no food to be had here, and feeling hungry, Saaya considered leaving but decided to watch for a while longer, this time from the edge of the 'arena.' The green man seemed furious, and threw a blinding white blast into a rock. The crack came without the juicy sound of cracking concrete. At that moment, Saaya understood the green man's frustrating. He couldn't break the rock!
Did he need to break it? He didn't look like a construction worker. Hm, she pondered, feeling helpful, I should ask if he needs help breaking the rock!" She was proud of herself for deciding to be a good, contributing citizen! She beamed a smile almost as bright as the green mans explosions.
"Hey, mister! Hi! My name's Saaya!" She wasn't the fittest looking girl, but she worse a martial hachimaki with the word "War" written on the front of it, still wearing her white bolero. She realized that maybe he was concentrating so hard maybe he wouldn't notice she was there. She assumed her fighting stance, staggering her feet, squaring her shoulder to her target, and folding her hands like a flower, before channeling a single, concentrated ki blast at the rock. A hit! The blast kicked off a cloud, obscuring whatever the result was, but Saaya was sure she'd have the green man's attention. "Excuse me! Do you need help breaking the rock!?"

Shell was taken quite by surprise when a beam of energy slammed into the offending rock in question. The rock weathered it, perhaps with some widening of the cracks already made in it, but Shell was more surprised by the sudden addition of the girl. Another energy-wielding girl. She didn’t look as frightening as Zam’s ‘Oni’ but then, looks could be deceiving. He’d seen plenty of people punching above what should be their weight class, both aforementioned ladies included. So he was a little cautious, especially since he hadn’t heard her approach. Then again, he had just blown himself to kingdom come, so ears ringing made that a little more obvious why. He brushed himself free of dirt and twigs on last time, trying to make a decent impression.
And that he did. Make an impression. Shell was a dark teal color, which was already a strange color for Namekians. But instead of typical antenna he had two large protrusions of bone, forming almost a crown around his forehead. His arm had similar chitinous plating, forming an armor arm that had pointy barbs sticking out of it rather viciously. It ended in a normal hand, thankfully, but the effect was still sort of shocking. “I don’t need help destroying the…” he started, sighing, “I was...trying to train. Or whatever. That thing all you people are so fond of doing.” The “you people” was clearly pointed, but he lifted a finger to gesture at her clothing, clearly taking her for a martial artist. “I’ve never had need to before. But out here beyond the demon lands...you earthlings are frighteningly strong. So I have to be better. Apparently, you do that by...blasting rocks. Or punching trees or whatever. For hours and hours. I figured ‘well if that’s what earthlings do, then okay…’”
Shell picked up a fragment of one of the broken boulders. He hefted it in his hand, even bounced it from palm to palm before he hurled it skyward. He held out a hand and launched a ki blast that detonated against the rock chunk. A little dust cloud and some sand were all that remained of his pebble. “It’s incredibly boring though,” he admitted, gesturing at the rock he’d just obliterated. “I’d rather have someone to fight than to just do this forever. Even if its effective, I can’t stand it.” He glanced at the girl, noting again her martial arts attire. “You interested? Or is that outfit just for show?”

"Well, uh," she scratched her head as he gestured at her, not quite sure whether to be offended or not by the finger pointing. He seemed annoyed about something, and she was sure that he might be taking it out on her unfairly, but at the same time he seemed intent on proving himself. She had seen his ability, she knew that she was no match, but somewhere in her something stirred. She... she wanted to test herself against him. She couldn't explain it; Saaya knew that she'd lose, it was an incontestable fact. But... how badly? She wanted to find out. "I don't know that people really learn anything by punching trees or blasting rocks, I think we just do it because we're bored. I mean, all I've ever done is punch air in a dojo...," she hesitated for a moment and found her grit, "but that doesn't mean I won't fight you!" Really, her bandana was just for show - the character emblazoned on it was the first of her surname; she herself was no warrior. Not yet. But that didn't mean she'd let the green dude call her out on it! No way! She planted her feet and assumed a fighting stance. Her first real fight! She didn't have a chance! She could tell, though the green dude had been pumping ki into rocks for at least an hour, he was still in top shape, his power far surpassing hers. She couldn't know what it was, but she could sense the aura around him now. A wry, assymetric smile cracked itself across one side of her face. "Are you ready?!"

Shell gave himself a soft grin. “I was told by the most powerful earthling I know that she got stronger by training. I was also told by the most powerful namekian I know that he trained all the time. So clearly this kind of mindless activity does something for them. I just happen to hate it. Which is a shame because it means I’ll be weaker forever, unless I come up with something just as good.” Shell hated being weak. Hated the idea that some people’s power would forever be outside of his grasp. He was incensed by the idea. So mad that he was willing to do something boring just to realize his ultimate goal. He would happily, always, in a heartbeat choose to do something more exciting, hoping that maybe a fight would do him better than mindlessly blasting a rock into rubble.
Shell turned, watching her stance. It wasn’t bad. She was clearly trained. He’d get to see how much soon. She barely pinged his radar, so either she was suppressing her power to pass cleanly through the city, or this was going to be a decidedly 1-sided fight. He hoped it was the first, but he’d already passed judgment on her from the rather simplistic, enthusiastic sentences thus far. He had to hold back condescension in his voice as he also dropped into a stance. He drew his sword from his belt, the black blade absorbing sunlight like hot pavement. It was wickedly sharp and perfectly colorless. “I’m always ready,” he said, fingers tightening over the hilt of his sword, eager to see who would make the first move.

Before long, Shell’s snap judgment seemed to be true. The girl seemed eager to fight, but didn’t take the initiative to move first. She was likely nervous, or didn’t know what was okay to do. So Shell moved first. He held the sword out in front of him horizontally, gathering the same white-purple ki he’d been firing from his hand earlier as he took a deep breath. Then two things happened. The first was that, if the girl was paying attention, she’d notice Shell’s power condensed a bit. Not enough to really make a huge difference between them, but just the slightest shift in his signature that would indicate he was suppressing some degree of his power. The second was that the energy would gather into a small orb, like he was about to fire a ki blast at her. Instead of firing it, however, the ki expanded and ballooned out in front of him like a half-dome, forming a tight shield. Then that shield pressed back into him, enveloping his body like a layer of cellophane. For a moment, Shell’s entire body was cast with a purple tint. Then it faded to a sharp purple outline. Then it faded entirely, as if it were never there.
The techniques had been useless against Ahri, and her demon ki that sliced through his defenses. But this girl surely would not also have such a technique at her disposal, would she? Was this just a human technique they all knew? He’d know soon enough.
He flourished his sword a little after he summoned his ki barrier, waiting for the girl to make her move. “It’s only polite to exchange names with someone before you exchange blows. You can call me Shell.”

Saaya's mind went blank as she watched the Namekian draw a voidblack sword, preparing himself for battle with techniques that her own sensei had never displayed. She was outclassed, unsure of what her opponents capabilities were, and unwilling to take a risk that left her exposed. In truth, this crippled her; she was unable to seize the initiative, she was unable to set the tempo of the fight to come, and worse, she had no idea what to do even before the battle started. She focused her mind on what little things she could manage and tried to make herself as small as possible. As hard to track as possible. It was pointless, of course. The Namekian had eyeballs, he didn't need to sense her, what little there was to sense was no doubt miniscule anyways as his own power seemed to ripple around her. She grit her teeth, bracing herself to take the hit. She tried to consider Shell as he stood, wreathed in invisible Ki, and how she might hope to be able to defeat him. He seemed strong, certainly stronger than her sensei, but was he as strong as Caffey? Her brows furrowed as she pondered the thought. She had not seen Caffey fight, well, not really. But something told that her friend could give Shell a run for his money. Would Caffey be disappointed if she lost here? The thought stung her a bit. Saaya didn't want to lose, yet she stood here, ready to take the punches. She knew one thing, though. Shell was wrong. His enemies did not become stronger by punching rocks. He, like her, still had a long way to go. He'd get stronger by defeating her, but she'd get even stronger by losing to him. There was nothing as educational as a loss; of that she was sure. At the very least, she'd give him a fight. "Shell, my name is Saaya. Saaya Sensougamiya!" She flexed her fists, loosened her legs to take the hits, and resolved herself to give Shell the first move; afterall, she had no idea what she was up against.

”Well Saaya, it was a pleasure to meet you,” Shell said soberly, like she was already gone. She had all but vanished from his perception, power wise. She was suppressing then. That was a potential problem if she wasn’t suppressing before...or was it a solid sign that she had been suppressing before? Most people didn’t think to do so...ugh! Thinking like a strategist was annoying! He just wanted to fight her already. If she was secretly a ki powerhouse like Ahri had been, then he’d deal with it when it happened. Thinking in fourth dimensional chess would only give him a headache.
The namekian wasted no time, leaping forward, and then past Saaya in the blink of an eye. He landed several yards away from the girl, sword held out in front of him. He’d gone for a shallow but significant slice along her ribs, trying to graze her as he slid past. His second attack was far more visible, as after zipping past the girl he whirled about, slinging his arm at her. For any normal fighter, he was much too far away to hit her with a stab like that, but Shell smirked as his arm flung itself forward. And forward. And forward. The arm seemed to be endless, extending from his shoulder in a straight line, looking to stab through Saaya’s shoulder. Regardless of its success, Shell would retract the arm and blade both, before Saaya could do something tricky and take his blade or something. With any luck he would score two direct hits, and leave the girl bleeding slowly from two wounds.
“I started nice and slow for you,” he said with a chuckle. He held up a hand and gesture for her to attack, “Now show me what you got, kid.”

Waiting for the opening move was, perhaps, the correct decision. Saaya's inexperience was crippling, but the first attack of an opponent would always be telegraphed and could therefore be anticipated. Anticipation was the key to reaction. She watched him move, each inconsequential action a purposeful and intended step towards carrying him to victory. Time seemed to slow to permit her the time to study each move. A step forward, followed by another, rapidly and exponentially accelerating at a haunting pace. The first strike! Shell was fast, incredibly fast; but Saaya had been practicing what Caffey had taught her. The sword arced its way across a deadly cut that, under normal circumstance, would risk slicing into her body. But Saaya was fast, too! Before the blade could strike true she, too, vanished only to appeared in a space nearby, re-assuming her fighting posture in time to deflect a snakelike, green appendage that lanced towards her with cruel claws, wicked spikes, bone and chitinous plates. Shell wore a wicked face dressed in confidence, none of it undeserved. Though she had avoided the blows, she ached. Had she avoided them? She thought, for a moment, to spare a glance down to see if she had been cut. She didn't feel any pain, and she didn't have time for any distractions. What was apparently his arm flung back towards him, accompanied by a relentless curtain of hot blue-white ki. She didn't bother to respond to him, not for lack of time, though there was truthfully no opening to do so, but because she was stubborn. Shell had not won yet. At the very least, Saaya would do nothing less than land a blow. Just, just one hit. She had to. Every sphere and lance of energy carried with it that feeling, cracking and exploding where Shell was. Desperation, defiance, the vigor of her naivety, and a hint of her Saiyan pride. Taste it.

The girl was more nimble than he expected, and a bit more trained. His first sword swipe should’ve hit, but the girl moved out of the way using a ki-based technique Shell was intimately familiar with. When he threw his arm at her again, she therefore was in the wrong spot, and his sword was deflected smartly instead of opening a wound. With a curse, Shell leapt back to make some distance, and the girl started to fire energy blasts at him. It was a wild torrent, and at least half of them were way, way, embarrassingly off. Limbs on trees were sheared off by wild ki blasts that were attacking someplace...not the namekian. But she knew roughly where he was, and some of her ki blasts were so accurately placed he wondered if she were tracking him somehow. Maybe the off-kilter attitude was a lie, and she was a lot stronger than she seemed.
Shell trust forth his teal, namekian hand, and a small silver bangle on his wrist glittered and gleamed. Instead of moving out of the way, he pushed an effort of will into the bangle, and a rush of green energy surged out of it. A small circular wall of flat green hexagons appeared in front of the Namekian, an energy barrier that chunked the attacks Shell knew he could not evade. He was worried it wouldn’t hold up, as ki blasts chipped bits and pieces off the protective shield. But the beastly thing held, just barely. It looked more like a swiss cheese game of battleship, but the barrier hadn’t fallen. Shell was untouched.
The attack still kicked up a spewing slew of smoky air, however, which was the perfect cover for Shell’s attack. Letting his barrier drop, he let his demonic ki gather in his left hand. If his opponent was going to play seriously, so could he! The namekian’s demonic arm cackled with purple and black lightning, as a purple white glow built up around his hand. When he had charged it, he flung his arm forward, into the smoke.
On the other side, all would seem calm. The energy blasts were spent, the smoke billowing, waiting for the result. Then suddenly the smoke would part and that chintous demon arm would surge forward again, extending like before. Only this time it wasn’t aiming to cut the girl, just to grab her, preferably around the face, and slam her into the ground, cracking in with the force.
Once pinned, instead of pulling back, Shell would ride the arm like a grappling hook, yanking him out of the smoke until he was hovering above the girl. Then he’d yell a battle cry and discharge all of the pent up energy in his hand and arm, surging into the ground and the girl trapped there.
“MATAIHOU!!!” (lit. Demon Crushing Cannon) Shell would yell, before revealing his surprise. A second hand, wreathed in the purplish energy and cackling electricity. This one he would aim to catch an arm or a shoulder with, pinning her down further before discharging more energy directly into her body and the ground below.

A flash of green appeared just in time to catch Saaya's eye before erupting against the tide of energy blasts. She'd struck, though the resulting cloud of smoke at the impact point concealed just how well. She did not relent, thrusting each hand forward again and again, volley after volley, unable to understand how futile her attacks were or weren’t. Blast after blast pummeled away, and somewhere in there, between the desperation and the madness, Saaya lost track of strategy and logic. She grit her teeth, hoping that the barrage was enough, but too late did she notice she was wrong. Flying from behind the cloud, a green arm once again stretched out towards her. What could she do? There was no time to react, no time to protect herself from what was now inevitable. Where had she gone wrong. She considered the problem for a moment, as her prey reflexes kicked in and slowed down time for her so she could savor the moment of defeat. She’d probably gone wrong the moment she decided to investigate this situation in the hopes of finding nuggies. She had no excuse for this, but also, it was an unavoidable problem. She couldn’t fix this. What could she do in the future to avoid this mistake. She’d wanted to help the man. She wondered if, as the open palm rusher to her head, fingers spread, she’d accomplished that simple task. Well, she was right at least, he’d learned something at least. Would he be proud of his lesson. She was, realistically, no match for him. She’d never once fought a duel, she’d no chance but to go all out, but even then, naivety and a failure to understand practical applications of what she’d learned would impede her from being successful. Really, the loss had been determined even before the battle began. She would never have been able to win her first battle, she wagered, unless her opponent gave it to her. Compared to the waves of ki that seemed to ripple around Shell, Saaya was almost a void. She was falling to the ground. Or, rather, she was being thrown down. It wasn’t what she’d call ‘elegant.’ But at least it would be over fast. She knew everything would go black at the moment of impact. What would come next, well, she guessed that was not really any concern of hers. Right now, at least, there wasn’t any pain. She hoped that she hit the ground hard enough to not feel it, either. She was tough, for a small girl, and she felt that at least Shell wasn’t in this to kill her. Probably. So, how could she avoid this situation in the future. Well, she probably had to stop listening to her gut tell her fighting people exponentially stronger than her was a good idea. She’d be having a much better time right now if she’d just listened to her other gut, turned around, and found some chicken nuggies. Well, whenever she woke up, she’d be sure to satisfy that urge. She's also be sure to not let Caffey know what happened here. She didn't want to disappoint her friend. A few moments later, Shell’s hand slammed her into the ground with a resounding crack and everything went black.

Shell’s hand clamped around her and forced her to the ground, cracking rock and pavement and tree root, a dome-like crater forming as the earth exploded into chunks. Then his ki and that cackling black lightning surged over the girl not once, but two times, each like massive defibrillators to her body. When it was over, she lay motionless on the ground. Very much so alive (he checked) but also very, very unconscious. It wasn’t unlike what happened to Shell in this exact same clearing a few weeks ago, when two well aimed fists wreathed in shield-defying chakra shredded his defenses and left him powerless to protect himself against the might of another, admittedly far more buff and clearly more experienced, girl.
Well that was...he couldn’t say anti-climactic. It had a climax. There was a very distinct rise in the level of action that led to an explosive conclusion. But that conclusion came way too fast. Shell sort of felt bad for the unconscious girl, at the bottom of a fresh crater a little larger than she was. Shell shouldn’t have used his demon energy. But she had unloaded her ki on him and was seemingly going all out so...he did the same! He didn’t feel bad for using his Mataihou. He did feel a little bad for using the second one, though. It might have been just slightly overkill. Or just enough kill? Hard to say.
Regardless, having been rendered unconscious in exactly this sort of manner once by Ahri, the namekian took the time to sit on a large rock jutting from the ground. The very same cracked, pitted rock he had been trying to destroy in the first place. He wasn’t intending to leave the girl unconscious and alone. He was scary enough that even wildlife wouldn’t have messed with him, but this was a little girl. People were gross, especially humans, and unconscious little girls should be defended from those with less honor than part-demon namekian warriors of the Demon King.
And yet...Shell won. Shell fought a fight, against a single opponent...and won. He creamed her. Clocked her good. Sent her down to the ground and left her with her eyes rolled back in her skull. In this moment the namekian didn’t care if she was a little girl or not. He won. He was almost giddy with the knowledge. He had never won a one-on-one fight before. Just against clear non-combatants who didn’t know their fist from their nether regions. Or, if he had fought actual warriors, he had help, like his half brothers or Zam. It was just one victory, and against a lesser opponent for sure, but one victory can become two, then four, then more. Then eventually, his father. And besides. When Ahri took him out like a chump, it only spurred him to get stronger. Maybe this would do the same for the little girl. What was her name again? Oh! Right! Saaya. Maybe it would do the same for Saaya…
Either way, he’d be waiting for her to wake up, just to make sure there were no hard feelings.

It took several minutes for her to recover, and even when her eyes opened, she did not become alert immediately. Instead, she simply stared up at the blue sky, her eyes struggling to focus. Her head hurt and she couldn't tell where she was, much less recall how she got here. She lay somewhere, almost like a cradle made of dirty and broken, dried mud. It felt almost like it was made for her, as if her body had molded it itself, and thus it was not entirely uncomfortable. After about two minutes of trying to identify the shapes of clouds, she attempted to move. Her body was sore yet it did not seem tired, at least not nearly to the same degree her mind did. She still let out a groan, which elicited almost immediate movement beside her. She froze, closing her eyes and pretending to be asleep still, not sure of who'd be here. Was I attacked! she thought to herself, her mind racing through a dozen different things. Her mind started to piece together memories. She could remember trying to help someone. Then, someone else attacked her? The thought was more of a question than a fact, yet Saaya's mind would have struggled to accomplish simple arithmetic. She heard a little more rustling, but whoever it was did not seem to be walking. It was like they were waiting. She popped an eye open, seeing a green man looking back at her. SCARY! She snapped her eyes shut. DID HE SEE ME? She wanted to curse but she knew he'd react to any noise she made. No, no, no it's ok, you didn't see anything. She couldn't hear any other noise from the man. Not a smirk, not a move to stand, not even the sound of breathing. Wait, could she hear anything. She tried to focus, but her brain struggled, and in the distance she could comprehend only the rolling sound of a car. Maybe it was normal, maybe it would come back to her. She waited again, for several more minutes, before boredom and curiosity overwhelmed her. She squinted her eyebrows and tried to make opening her eye as surreptitiously as possible. A miserable failure. Her brows furrowed deep, and when she thought she was clever, instead she could see him, patiently looking down at her. She relaxed her face, thinking to pretend to sleep again, then letting go a sigh. She was caught. "Who are you?" she mustered the question. "Do I know you? Why do I feel like I was hit by a train?" She sat up, looking at her clothes with a frown. Completely dirtied, she'd have to clean them. She glanced around, the place around her only moderately familiar. Her stomach grumbled inside the crater, the echo of its gurgle resounding throughout the site. "You wouldn't know a place where I can get chicken nuggets, would you?"

”How do you…” Shell said, almost dumbfounded at the girl’s question. She was behaving like he’d never known her at all, instead of like her sparring partner who stuck around to see if she was okay. Sure, he’d knocked her out. Yes, he’d done so with overwhelming force she was not prepared for. It was clear now that she was not sneakily hiding her true potential, waiting to unleash it on Shell when he least expected it. Massive oversight on his part. He was kind of embarrassed to admit that he’d gone so overboard just because other little girls had been frighteningly strong before. But to now pretend like she’d acquired amnesia? He didn’t hit her that hard! He knew he didn’t! No way!
“How do you not remember me?” Shell said, a little annoyed to be honest. They’d had a fight. A short fight, but still! And Shell had won! Yet now she was acting like he was the only one who’d ever known it had happened! He wasn’t sure what was worse: Winning his first fight against a woefully prepared girl, or being the only person alive who knew he’d won that fight. You know what? No, he was definitely more upset about the second one. He’d won! Someone should acknowledge that! “We just had a fight. You saw me blasting rocks open and decided to help. So we sparred. You got beat, thus the crater and the unconsciousness...you’re really telling me you don’t remember any of it!? It wasn’t a truck it was my fist!”
The half-demon namekian dropped down from his perch on the rock, grabbing Saaya by the front of her shirt, hoisting her up to her feet with a slightly rough and tumble action, her comfort largely ignored now that she’d riled him up. He began to dust off her clothing with a gruff efficiency, brushing the worst of the rock and dirt away. His hands passed over most of her but there was nothing other than cleaning in mind. He had no interest in the infuriating amnesiac whatsoever. It wasn’t perfect, but it would make her somewhat serviceable in her town or wherever she planned to go back to. Shell was short and a little angry, but he kept it inside until she asked him about god damn chicken nuggets. “Yea, I know a great chicken nugget place!” he feigned a tight, barely restrained smile. It looked almost sinister, like he was about to reveal that the chicken nuggets were made of little girls and she was next on the menu or something, “...oh woops! I completely forgot about it! I don’t know its name, or where it’s located. Oh well!” The namekian growled a little into his last exclamation, then whirled away from the little saiyan and began to march in a random direction, anything to get away from her.
“Maybe we both have memory problems, Saaya! We should get that fixed! Pleasure fighting you! Come again!” Shell practically shouted the last sentences, pleasantries turned to sharpened knives as he jabbed each sentence at her while his back was turned, a hand raised in a farewell, leaving the girl standing in the crater and the clearing. Dust covered, lacking memory, and likely very very confused. He would leave her to sort out her own memories and get herself back together. Maybe she could find some nuggets without his help. Or maybe she’d finally remember their conflict. Remember that he won their conflict, at that. Until then, he really didn’t want to see her, because he was afraid he’d punch her again. This time on less friendly terms.

"Hey...," Saaya started to mumble under her breath. How do you know my name? she wanted to ask. She scratched her head, seeming a little confused by the situation as the man stormed off of the broken rock he sat on. She stared at the rock for a moment, thinking to herself that it seemed familiar, before turning her mind back to the situation at hand. How rude! Here she was, waking up in a strange place, and with a man who was clearly waiting for her yelling at her! Did he sit there and wait for her to finish napping to yell at her! He could have just woken her up and told her this wasn't a good place to sleep!
Her hand rubbed over the back of her head and came across a tender spot. "Ow." She mumbled a few words to herself as she checked the spot over. She had no idea what had happened, but whatever it was, she felt like she'd definitely hurt her head. She looked curiously, watching as the green man left, and found herself wondering what his name was. It was something... something like... like... Bell? It didn't sound quite right. She pondered for a few moments, certain she knew the answer to this. "Mel?"
"Hm, Nel? Like Nelson? No...," she frowned. "C'mon, I know this."
"Hell? No, no way, who would name their kid that!?"
Maybe it had something to do with turtles. Something resilient, tough... green? She looked on, towards the direction he had left, and thought very, very hard. "Cell!" She had it! That sounded right! Well, it had to be close, right! He looked green-ish! Wait, what if she was wrong?! She frowned. Okay, she thought to herself, the next time I meet him, I'll just wait until someone else says his name. Then I'll remember for sure.
But it was strange. That Cell guy had said that they had a fight, but she wasn't sure why. It certainly felt like it, he was angry and her head hurt afterall, but there's no way she'd start a fight with someone she didn't know. Yeah. Saaya stood up inside the crater and looked at the circle around her, brushing off the dust on her shorts. This was one hell of a circle. Who would come up with such an elaborate scheme to yell at a girl and walk away. Some people had very strange hobbies.
She stepped up the three foot defilade and crested the lip of the crater, heading out the same direction Cell had. She was skeptical that he didn't actually know the name of the nugget place. He was probably headed there now. If there were nuggies to be had, she'd be there, and if Cell was there, she'd be certain that she'd fight him for the sauce!
