Only one of Ahri's fists made contact, and it left a rather decent bruise on the side of his face. If she was able to hit him, she and the other Human fighters might stand a chance if they attack altogether. After all, you know what they say, if it can bleed, it can die. However, there was to be no killing in this particular fight. This was a spar, a spar featuring a Namekian fighting against three other warriors working together. Truly, it was more of a disorganized brawl, with everyone tossing random attacks without as much as a thought. Bass would recoil while yelling, and his next motion was lightning quick, and Ahri couldn't even see the fist flying towards her stomach. A look of absolute horror crosses over her features as she choked out, spit flying straight out of her mouth. She was launched upwards, and fell back down to earth, not realizing that Kiryu had managed to deflect the second attack thrown by Bass. The sheer force of the attack had knocked the wind out of Ahri, and she again wondered about his full power. She guessed that that wasn't the best Bass could do, sensing his gargantuan power level as she lay on the broken earth. Getting up to her feet, still catching the breath which was lost, she saw two compact orbs of energy flying towards her at breakneck speeds. She swung her right arm once, her arm cutting the very air around her deflecting the first to the right, and with the same motion, swung it again, knocking the blast to the left. As the ki blasts touched Ahri, she winced, feeling the impact of the hot ki even through her defensive, muscular arms. The blasts destroyed a bit of bush, but Ahri hadn't paid attention. Instead, her dazzling, bright, aura burst to life as she glared daggers at Bass. The light alone was enough to blind any regular being if they weren't careful enough. Duke Satan was firing a burst of air towards the Namekian, and Kiryu was hitting Bass with everything he had in him, unleashing a series of attacks that Ahri doubted she could stand up against. Her aura began to dissipate, forming around her two fists, launching forward for an attack as familiar as any to Kiryu. She flew towards Bass, and as soon as Kiryu had completed his series of attacks, Ahri charged forth, attempting to sink to fists into the gut of the blue Namekian. Whether she made contact or not, she would roll forward on the ground, moving with the momentum of the strike.

Inhale...
Exhale...
You've come to learn this power, so don't put it to waste...
In front of Bass was a horrifying wall of strikes presented over a minuscule amount of time. While undoubtedly prioritizing he would be stupid to try and ignore any one advance on his position. The first attacks came from Duke Satan, barrelling forward with physical power that Bass was actually surprised by. Despite his size, Bass had judged the man by his power signature alone and settled him at the bottom of his priorities. Though he would quickly find a fist catching him in the side immediately once his assault had finished. Digging in a good few inches, the Namekian seemed to darken with some sort of emotion capped within. Kiryu had seen it before when they were after their artifacts, the sheer tenacity and cruel dark willpower that came from the void to push this man forward. As the fist pulled out, Bass leaned back to avoid the other as it sailed over him.
In the wake of his attacks he turned to see a recovered Ahri and Kiryu beginning their own assaults almost synchronized with each other. Kiryu in classic fashion with a wave of mighty attacks and Ahri with mighty blows of her own. The gap would close in an instant, as a flurry of effects and blows that would indeed take some of the mightiest fighters down flew towards Bass. Though they would quickly find it would not take them all down. With a twitch of his right eye, the Namekian literally disappeared and every-single-one of their attacks went flying off into the forest or met air. It was as if he was never there to begin with, a technique Kiryu had seen once before but now was different. Now it was mastered and there were no holes, and it wasn't limited to only a short range. Though that might be hard to tell considering Bass simply teleported right alongside Ahri with a fist prepared to connect with her stomach as she went with her momentum.
His strike was merely an attempt, though this... What could only at face value be determined as teleportation gave him an edge in some way. Whether that was surprise, worry that he could do it more, he wasn't necessarily considering. Instead he was just fighting with everything he had. With raw unflinching determination; the outcome looked bleak if they worked together perfectly, but he'd use everything he had no matter how things ended up anyways. That was what it was about, fighting against insurmountable odds with the genuine belief of victory, because how else can one survive situations that are stacked against them?
Immediately following the first punch that should it connect would be brutal, he'd follow up with a leap into the air and a kick to Ahri's back in an attempt to send her smashing into the ground in front of her. This was targeted, every strike was going on Ahri and for good reason. Just as Kiryu had deducted, Bass knew Kiryu was their VIP. Could they afford to assist Ahri with valuable resources that might be better placed with their primary asset? That was what was on Bass's mind. As Kiryu had shown, he was in a place to intervene, but that just meant Bass needed strikes strong enough to break through even Kiryu's reflexes. If he could break through that, he knew the kid would weigh intervening much more heavily. After all, he'd just be taking the hit in her place.
Finishing his second series of strikes he aligned his hand to once again fire off two more energy blasts in Ahri's direction. He did so with his peripheral vision, keeping the rest of his focus on what was about to hit him if he felt the rhythm of battle correctly. Two more small beads threatened to explode against her form.

Post by Duke Satan on Oct 4, 2019 7:52:24 GMT -8
A massive orchestra of attacks sped towards Bass, aiming to overwhelm him with blows coming from up close and from afar. There was a plethora of ways how a trained martial artist would be able to respond to such an overwhelming counter attack, and the Duke knew that. They could summon a shield of ki or amplify their aura to push the weaker attacks aside, they could use methods such as the Sky Dance Technique, or simply ki powered flight, to escape the assault. Bass's answer, however, was one which the descendant of House Satan had never witnessed before. Using a mysterious and unseen ki technique, he vanished from place entirely, appearing almost immediately after with a fist aimed towards Ahri. "Spectacular! Bahahaha!" Duke Satan yelled out, fixing his sunglasses a little bit and letting a glimmer of sunlight bounce off them as he watched Bass's teleporting combination and its aftermath. Indeed, he is fighting no ordinary martial artist, that much has been confirmed! Once this match concludes, he will be sure to recruit this Namekian to join him in Satan City, as soon as that capital of Earth's martial arts is finally built. For now, however, it was not time to be daydreaming... it was time to come up with a some sort of response. Compared to everyone else in this match, the Duke was thoroughly outgunned - but that did not mean he wasn't able to participate. Throwing his fist forward, he released a yet another powerful burst of air towards Bass - however, this time, it had less power and more speed behind it. Hopefully, this time it would be able to catch the Namekian unprepared and draw his attention away from pummeling Ahri. Speaking of attention. "You've got your chance, friend!" the Duke yelled out, turning his eyes towards Kiryu. "Make it worth it!" [WC: 306 / 2057] Defensive Phase

Post by Kiryu on Oct 4, 2019 12:45:09 GMT -8
Kiryu's eyes darted all over the place, keeping track of Bass as best he could. The Namekian was pulling out all the stops, to be sure. It seemed he had mastered not only flight, but some sort of teleportation as well. Sure, Kiryu thought to himself with a grim amusement, The most powerful opponent you've ever gone up against needed to be even more difficult to handle. Right. Of course. Silly me.
This is why I can't have nice things.Kiryu watched Bass, once again, go after A.I. The Namekian delivered a terrifically powerful blow, sending A.I. flying. The follow up would have been even more devastating... If Kiryu had allowed it to land. Instead, Kiryu concentrated, focusing on his speed. He rocketed forward, moving so quickly he appeared to flicker and vanish before ending up in between Bass and Ahri. The Namekian was leading in with a powerful kick, and Kiryu could not hope to escape in time or divert Bass's attack. No... this was going to hurt. Time to put up or shut up!Kiryu crossed his arms and let out a bellow, screaming his defiance. The scream was drowned out a fraction of a second later by the thunderclap that accompanied Kiryu and Bass colliding with one another. Kiryu's ki armor didn't last for a second, and Bass's powerful kick shattered the armor and collided with Kiryu directly. The Earthling did not have a hope of staying where he was, and Kiryu immediately was sent cannon balling back through the air, and he thudded into the ground. Kiryu gritted his teeth in pain as he skidded, but soon, he slowed. Not allowing himself to be out of control, Kiryu spun and rolled, using his hands to aid his momentum and flipping up to land on his feet. Duke Luciferus Satan, despite his protestations about his lack of martial skill, proved himself a natural on the field of battle at that very moment. He had an interesting way of attacking; compressed air waves. Kiryu had used that technique more than once himself, using ki to create air pressure strong enough to send someone else flying through the air, and Duke Satan used it here, ensuring that Bass had something to react to and giving Kiryu a moment to prepare. Duke Satan called out to Kiryu, telling him to make it worth it. Kiryu replied; "Thanks for the opening! You don’t need to worry, I’m not going to waste it. He should be slowing down right… about..."Rather than finish his sentence, Kiryu saw an opening, a moment where Bass was focused more on the other fighters than Kiryu, and the talented young fighter wasted no time springing back into action. He dashed back towards where Bass fought Ahri, watching the Namekian pepper her with attacks and ki blasts. As Kiryu approached, he formulated a plan. Bass was too accurate, too powerful, and now he was too damn slippery. They needed to do something about that. Kiryu blurred around to Bass's back, and he closed in to the Namekian's blind side. Kiryu's eyes glowed once again, and he began targeting chakra pathways again. This time, however, he did not stop after a few strikes. He kept his sequence going, aiming for vulnerable areas on the Namekian's back, arms, legs and neck, hoping to completely alter the flow of ki in his body. As Kiryu moved, his altered vision caught glimpses of other areas to strike, other ki nodes that would likely make even ki enhanced movement more difficult and more costly. A new technique began to come to life in Kiryu’s mind, and he filed that away for later analysis. He could not afford to not be focused on the fight right now. Kiryu wasted no time in following up. He prepared to fire his Ki Gun again, but this time, he did not focus only on one point. Every finger tip on his right hand glowed orange, as Kiryu prepared for an improvised version of his technique. Kiryu jumped, and in a spectacular acrobatic leap, he cleared Bass, leaping forward. At the apex of his relatively small leap, Kiryu tucked and rotated. For a fraction of a second, Kiryu and Bass locked eyes, though Kiryu was upside down. Then the spiritualist fired off his attack, which was more akin to a ki scattergun. All of the "bullets", which were more like buckshot at the moment, were aimed at the upper portion of Bass's face. With any luck, Kiryu would have caught him in the eye, or on the forehead just above. With any luck, Bass's vision would be obscured, either via direct injury or from blood flowing downward into his eye. Kiryu landed, taking a quick step backwards out of Bass's melee range, then said to his companions; "We need to try to temporarily blind him!"

Ahri had shoved her two brightly glowing fists towards the blue Namekian at full force, with Kiryu following suit. The power, the strength, the teamwork, the speed, the desire, all these things were placed into the tightly closed fists of the young woman. And all of that, combined with the sheer ferocity of Kiryu's own assault, was presented before Bass in the form of an attack. Any lesser warrior would have been knocked down with that one combination of strong attacks, with them all being tossed at the same time. However, Bass was no lesser warrior.... Far from it. In a flash, Ahri would feel her flying fist pass through the area were her target once stood, not coming into contact with anything. Her eyes widened as she realized that Bass was sending fist her way, while she was in the middle of her attack. The Namekian seemed to have either moved so quickly that she failed to see him even make a motion, or he had found a way to manipulate space and time, teleporting to reappear directly beside her. She had never heard of nor seen an ability such as the one used by the Namek, yet here it was being presented before her eyes. Ahri failed to even react, only doing so once the crushing fist made contact with her side, inflicting massive pain and discomfort to Ahri. A pathetic, squeaky cry pierced the air, as the fist sunk into the left side of her exposed midriff. Ahri turned to face Bass as swiftly as she could, not even seeing the following kick delivered by Bass until her friend, Kiryu, had blocked it. His bellow made its way into her ears, while she wondered just how powerful this Namekian's attacks could be. She threw herself backwards, performing several backflips before coming to a halt a little ways away from her single foe. She watched in awe as Kiryu unleashed a series of amazing attacks, obviously using the extent of his power, going all out against a very sturdy and fearsome foe. She slowly began to feel as if she had become a burden to her two allies. She was faring the worst in this fight, with Kiryu being the strongest of the three, and Duke Satan managing to succeed in being ultimately ignored during the bout, for now, that is. She had never felt so outclassed before by anyone but her mother, and that was almost ten years ago. It was as if Bass had managed to move faster than his very train of thought, making moves before he had even finished thinking. She smirked, realizing just how far this fight would push her. She was already being pressed heavily by the Namekian, with her two allies being spared most of the damage Bass dished out. Two blasts suddenly and eagerly charged towards Ahri, most likely fired by the blue slug man. She crossed her fists, tanking and blocking the full force of one of the ki blasts shot at her; the other flying off to the side, slapping into the floor of the earth. She was pushed back several feet backwards, her feet making deep tracks in the dirt ground. Hearing Kiryu's shout, she sprung into action, getting back to her feet, letting her aura burst, as another dazzling light shrouded her. She screamed as she powered up, as the aura began to get brighter, brighter, and brighter. Eventually, she let her aura drop, flying towards Bass, attempting to throw yet another glowing fist at his face, as soon as Kiryu completed his attack combo.

The possibility of failure.
Not being enough.
This is the thrill of overwhelming odds, but thrills don't win battles.
The Namekian's mind was going a hundred miles a minute, desperately aiming to trace every possible outcome before they'd even been hinted at. After his second barrage against Ahri he was immediately met with not a punch but an... Abrupt push of wind on his side? Literally scrunching his eyebrows he turned and looked over in confusion. Just as he was starting to speak, "What are y-" the Duke shouted and immediately Bass paled for multiple reasons, though the first was much more obvious than the latter one. Kiryu had rebounded from being hit fairly well, Bass reckoned he'd blown through his about every defensive trick he had up his sleeve, that's how he often did things. Why circumvent when you can plow straight through? Yet right now the kid was flying towards him, and Bass could only inwardly cringe as he guessed what was about to happen.
Sure enough, in but a moment he'd be getting assaulted by a series of little smacks that were just so annoying. Each one elevated Bass's rage from a spar to a genuine desire to beat someone into the ground. It was good that generally his conscious exceeded his emotional impulses. A jab there, a strike there. Kiryu would find himself obstructing these pathways in abundance, closing off the vast and overwhelmingly potent network of Ki that Bass had at his disposal. That network looked like it was in the midst of some serious five o' clock traffic. As his assault ended and Kiryu would leap away Bass could only raise his arms into a defensive X in front of his face when the scattershot flew forwards. Most of it peppered into his arms and lower body and did a solid amount of damage. In their wake there were scuffs, cuts and bruises in just about every pellet point except for some of the ones on his; but not all.
Letting his arms drop after the fact he'd turn to sluggishly prepare for Ahri's assault, feeling like a bag of bricks compared to before. As she came flying in he was already in the middle of his anger, his visage darkening as the willpower to push on gradually built up. An uncanny desire to win something that didn't hold the greatest meaning by itself. As her strike came in, despite it's piercing properties represented by sheer power in itself, while breaking through some of his defences it would still be stopped by the additional guard that he had established. Arms up to absorb the impact as well. As it all came to a close the Namekian looked like he had seen better days. Yet he was not defeated; despite looking incredibly poor.
Covered in cuts and bruises, bleeding from multiple spots on his body and quite literally having been blinded by that excessively bright aura, Bass just breathed raggedly and started to realign himself. With one eye closed and one eye open he looked at the splitting figures of the three combatants in front of him. He had remembered a similar technique being used against him by ONI, it was turning out to be some problematic trick that he'd need to develop a tool to counter, something more than his mere teleportation trick. Still, the question in the moment was did he go for Kiryu or did he go for Ahri. If everything worked out right he could finish either off in one fell swoop. Though after the display Kiryu gave him...
Bass didn't even want to deal with him, it was like getting his hands dirty. That disgust showed on his face.
Yet he would anyways. Still expressing a similar speed despite everything working against him; a show of will in itself, he attempted to collide with Kiryu and send him flying into a tree. Only to follow up with a dash and a punch as he was (if he was) pressed to the tree. Immediately after he could be seen turning towards Ahri and advancing with slower speed considering everything working against him. Once again delivering an action packed salvo of beat-down that may or may not hit. A massive attempted blow straight to the side of her face followed by a kick to her opposite leg and finally a dropping elbow-slam on her midriff that would ideally be the end of her participation; though he couldn't rely on anything working out the way he wanted it too. He had to play this extremely carefully, and always be adapting for the worst case scenario. Especially with Kiryu becoming the hive-mind and puppeteer the others; so Bass had perceived.
If she still dared not be down, Bass fired off two additional energy blasts at her. He just wanted someone out of the fight at this point. Desperation? Very possible.

Post by Duke Satan on Oct 5, 2019 11:30:06 GMT -8
Kiryu used the distraction which Duke Satan so generously lent to him fairly well - the human martial artist charged forth and assaulted Bass with a massive barrage of physical strikes, following it up with a barrage of ki blasts fired from the tip of his fingers. Ki blasts, even if the Duke had no ability to make them, were no mystery to him at this point. Martial artists with enough sheer force and tenacity behind them were able to channel their ki out of the bodies, not just in the form of an aura, but also by concentrating them in small points in space for all sorts of energy attacks. The Earthling was able to concentrate them even more than an average martial artist would, however - while others might clasp energy blasts with both of their arms, he only needed a single finger to summon a technique as powerful as theirs. Even more proof that he was dealing with some of Earth's greatest. Duke Satan released a jolly laugh, then, with a smile remaining on his face, moved into a makeshift combat stance. It was time for him to join the fray as well, not just throw gusts of air. With a slam at the ground, the towering man suddenly threw himself forth, making his way across the battlefield faster than a speeding bullet, and stopped in front of Ahri just as Bass was about to fire a twin set of energy blasts. One blast struck the Duke's upper arm directly, detonating rather painfully and engulfing the man in a thick cloud of smoke. However, it dissipated as soon as his roaring voice left the cloud: "Spectacular!" The Duke had held his ground, only slightly pushed back by the surprisingly powerful energy blast, and his enthusiasm did not drop even a single bit. Before he engaged Bass, however, the man reached into the pocket of his dark red suit and pulled out a piece of candy. "Here, take this," he said as he offered it to Ahri behind him. It was no ordinary piece of candy, however. It was, in fact, the trademarked and exquisite Satan Candy™, made and advertised by the Satan Mansion and spanning a history of hundreds of years. It is said that these types of extremely sweet candy were first offered by Mr. Satan himself! And "extremely sweet" might even be too weak of a word to describe the taste - anyone who tries it would get rejuvenated and experience a sugar rush almost immediately. "Your technique is exceptional, Bass! I've travelled the planet far and wide, but I haven't stumbled across a martial artist like you before!" the Duke yelled as soon as he handed over the candy, then fixed his glimmering sunglasses again. Hopefully, this would keep Bass distracted for at least a few second, giving his allies an opportunity to take him down. "Tell me, which martial arts school do you come from? If they have grown a warrior this capable, then I certainly must have heard of it!" [WC: 508 / 2565] Defensive Phase (Intercepted) Bass's Energy Blast - crits for 16 damage! Post by Kiryu on Oct 5, 2019 19:47:16 GMT -8
Their efforts were beginning to bear fruit. Bass was a beast, there was no doubt about that, but even he was hard pressed to stand against the onslaught that Kiryu, Ahri and Duke Satan were bringing to bear against him. Bass came after Kiryu, then, as the young man had expected, but their strategy proved to be even more effective than Kiryu had hoped. With his vision interfered with, Kiryu had little trouble evading the rampaging Namekian. Bass rocketed towards Kiryu, but the Earthling was far too savvy to attempt to take another hit, especially after Bass's one attack had send him sailing. Bass's follow up was easy to dodge as well, since his adversary had clearly expected to catch Kiryu with his speedy maneuver. Beyond merely the physical damage he had taken, Kiryu could tell that Bass's ki reserves were running low. The ki was still in his body, but to Kiryu's eyes, that ki was a prisoner, unable to freely travel between that chakra points in Bass's body. A satisfied smile wormed it's way onto Kiryu's face, and of all things, he felt the urge to gloat. He did not, as that wouldn't have been appropriate with anyone, let alone such a powerful being that Kiryu was coming to consider a friend. Still, Kiryu felt a fierce desire to prove himself the more skilled competitor, not only here, now, today, with Ahri and Duke Satan by his side... but one on one. And if he failed in that task, Kiryu would train until his body threatened to break under the strain. Kiryu realized, then, that this was what true rivalry felt like, and he embraced it. Bass was the stick against which he would measure himself, and Kiryu made a vow to himself, right then, that he would never fail through lack of effort. That was when it happened. One moment, everything was normal. Flowing from one moment to the next, as, in Kiryu's experience, time should move. Instead, to Kiryu's perceptions, everything around him slowed, more and more, until literally everything that he could see was completely frozen. Duke Satan had just blocked a ki blast from Bass that had been meant for Ahri, and was opening his mouth to speak... And Kiryu's brain was nearly overwhelmed. More quickly than he could ably process, several scenarios unfolded. Kiryu saw, in slow motion, every detail of almost every possible permutation of their contest. It was a massive amount of sensory and tactical information that Kiryu's brain was assailed with, and it was so painful that it nearly caused the young warrior to scream and fall to his knees. Still, he persevered, and after a moment... Time resumed it's normal flow. Duke Satan spoke to Bass, attempting to distract him, and Kiryu did not miss the opportunity. As he moved, he saw strange things... almost like afterimages of what had not yet, but still could, happen. Kiryu had seen many potential outcomes, and he did not know which to trust, but still, he knew that he would have ample warning whatever occurred. Kiryu used Duke Satan's distraction to slip behind Bass. Kiryu looked at his back... and.... There.Something clicked in Kiryu's awareness and he knew that, were he to strike just so... Kiryu aimed for the vulnerable area that he saw, an area that, when struck, would cause the ki in Bass's body to rage against it's confines, causing significant internal damage. Kiryu followed this up with another sequence of strikes designed to severely inhibit Bass's ki flow. He targeted the same spots he had struck before, aiming to exacerbate the detrimental effects even further. Far from done, Kiryu circled around Bass, then brought his hands up to bear. All ten of his fingertips glowed with orange ki, and he grinned at Bass. "Second verse, same as the first! This technique seems to be giving you trouble; let's see if you can withstand it a second time!"Kiryu extended his left hand and, with a shout, shot the separated ki pellets out with as much force as he could muster. Kiryu then dashed in, feinting with several strikes. He faked a big, telegraphed roundhouse before dashing forward with a flying knee strike. Even that strike was a feint, as instead of collide with Bass, Kiryu stopped short. He took a step backwards and then displayed his trademark agility, launching himself into a butterfly flip that, somehow, in the middle of performing, Kiryu managed to fire his other attack, the orange ki "bullets" again streaking towards Kiryu's faced. When Kiryu landed, he continued to dash backwards a bit, maintaining space between himself and Bass. Kiryu's own ki reserves were beginning to dip a bit low, and if this continued much longer he would have to draw on his reserves to stay relevant in the contest.

Ahri's attacks managed to make clear contact with the blue skinned Namek once more, and Ahri caught a glimpse of his features before she leapt backwards. He seemed tired and weary, he was bruised and bleeding, and his movements became sluggish, all signs that represented the struggle that the Namek had to charge through while engaging 3 different opponents at once. Even if your power level was higher than all of your opponents combined, if there is enough opponents, and enough attacks being thrown towards you all at the same time, you won't be able to emerge as a victor. It simply was near impossible, especially when the team of fighters you face worked well together. She gave Bass her best smirk as she leapt backwards, knowing fully that she wouldn't stand a chance against the blue Namek had she fought one on one. The Namekian's power level simply knew no bounds, and it was currently standing at ten times her own. She studied the battlefield carefully, seeing Bass, who was now seeing the world through one eye while trying to fight three people at once, Kiryu, who seemed to fare much better than she or Bass did, already having dealt the most amount of damage to the powerful Namek, and finally, Duke Satan, who looked just fine, his strength and speed still resting at their near maximum, having being a supporter throughout the whole bout. Bass charged towards Kiryu, attempting to damage him, miserably failing as he did so. Kiryu was simply too agile, too quick, too fast, to allow himself to be hit often. Ahri remembered the fight she had with Kiryu, knowing that fighting him could be very dangerous and tiring, should the battle not be a spar. Keeping track of Bass' movements, Ahri prepared herself for the Namekian's charging onslaught, freely moving about. She ducked under the first strike, feeling the breeze on the top of her hair as Bass' leg sailed through the air above her. The second kick was blocked, dropping her hands to help with her defense against the attack. The final strike was sidestepped, with Ahri leaping backwards once again in the opposite direction, after Bass passed through the area where she once stood with a pointed elbow. Suddenly, two ki blasts flew at full speed and force towards her, and Ahri had not known how to guard against them, only watching the blasts as they came towards her. Once again, one of her allies came to her aid, taking the full force of one of the bursts of ki head on. The other blast slammed into her side, causing Ahri to stumble a bit. She quickly regained her footing, and looked at the man who had intercepted one of the attacks. It was Duke, providing Ahri with a small piece of candy to consume. Ahri accepted the sweet, looking at it with renowned confusion for several moments before tossing it into her mouth, beginning to chew. The candy was sweet, very sweet, and the taste nearly brought tears to the young woman's eyes. Once she swallowed, she felt a surge of power well up within her, and suddenly felt like she could run a lap around the entire world if she wanted to. Eyes widened, she mumbled to herself, "H-Holy crap...."She ignited her aura, feeling a lot better than she previously did, and moved forward to clash with Bass once again. Although, before she could even begin charging towards the Namek, Bass was being pelted with attacks thrown by Kiryu, who wasted no time dealing as much damage as possible to Bass. While Kiryu shot pellets of ki towards Bass, Ahri moved quicker than she ever had before, running at full speed towards Bass. She arrived as soon as Kiryu completed his assault, and Ahri threw an attack at Bass. Was it a punch? A kick? A shove? A knee? An elbow? Maybe a headbutt? No, it was a ki charged, lightning quick slap. She moved her hand erratically and comically quickly, the friction alone harming her. Should the slap hit it's mark, Bass' left cheek, a loud clap would be heard in the clearing and beyond, signifying that Ahri had made contact. The Namek's head and neck might twist further than he would like, and it would be most likely painful. Following up with the slap, Ahri threw a punch at the Namek's gut, attempting to knock the wind out of him.

It's not always about how you fall.
It's about what you make of your mistakes, and becoming better because of them.
As one strike flew and struck a mirage he'd seen with double vision, followed by a genuine dodge by Kiryu the reality of this fight was becoming clear. Those two strikes were aimed to take him out of the battle, and only then would he have the optimal chance of success. When his attacks towards Ahri also didn't find purchase, there was no route which even had a chance of victory in this battle. Not if they kept acting at the optimization that they'd accelerated to over the battle. What had started as the group of them repeatedly making simple mistakes when working together quickly turned into a coordinated unit. He questioned if he was teaching them or they were teaching him. The answer was both, even if Bass thought they learned more than he did. He still learned what it felt like to actually be taken to the limit because... Well, this was practically his limit.
As Kiryu came forward the Namekian just stared him down dead in the face and watched as he charged forward and shouted his way. The Namekian wasn't in a bantering mood and from his reaction to his salvo of attacks he was serious too. He made no attempt to dodge each and every strike. Each point was not met with a single inch of movement, each massive blast of Ki and even the internal detonation that causes flairs of visible glow on the surface of his skin for just the briefest moment. Something that was almost impossible to make non-lethal like that only caused the Namekian's single open eye to twitch in agitation. However as dust and debris kicked up from the salvo of attacks and the smoke started to fade Kiryu and the rest of them would see Bass simply standing there. Each and every attack Kiryu had thrown forward had left there mark, yet the warrior stood just as proudly as he did before. Even in defeat he knew he put everything he could into this, that it was ultimately out of his hands. He'd speak a couple short words.
"I can."
Then Ahri came forward again, sailing across to make contact with him. His head turned slightly to watch her as she came forward, dashing with incredible speed to collide with him. He expected some kind of fist like she'd thrown up until this point. Instead he would bare witness to something that he considered atrocious. Disgusting, and a fowl mockery of everything a proud fighter should stand for. In a moment of rage his arm shot out with equal speed and attempted to snag her by the wrist and in doing so, would stop her hand five inches from his face. Taking a deep and controlled breath he spoke again.
"Never have I seen somebody with such potential make such a mockery of what it means to be a proud warrior. That is something for a disloyal partner, not a fighter." He said simply, stopping the immense power dead in it's tracks. The follow up strike that she sent flying forward slammed into his side and pushed into his muscle ever so slightly. Yet he did not budge, he did not move. Smoke came off of his form from all of the attacks that had been pounded into him. The residual smoke from the internal ki detonations were exiting from his mouth and nose whenever possible. He would release the wrist that he had grabbed, letting his arm fall back limp to his side as he looked across the field to where Kiryu was.
Looking at him, he'd speak. "I can never in any way, shape or form condone anything you do when it comes to fighting as having a shred of honor. Yet the nature of fighting does not demand such a thing. Your techniques are designed to be lethal, you cannot target someone from within and expect them to pass out. That's not how it works. You have yet to earn my respect, but I doubt you were looking for it to begin with." He'd say, before finally looking towards Duke Luciferius Satan.
"While perhaps the most efficient thing to do, you did yourself a disservice when you opted to not show what you can do as a fighter. You'll need to stand on your own two feet in many of your days, no matter your goals. If I were you, I'd have taken the opportunity to measure my might against someone leagues ahead of myself. To answer your question, I am my own school, I am my own teacher. Everything I know, I taught myself. That's what it takes, because people won't always be there to guide.
As of now, I accept this as a loss. If we were to continue I would lose in the next ten seconds, and I'd just feel a lot more tempted to keel over and vomit."

Post by Duke Satan on Oct 6, 2019 7:37:19 GMT -8
Ahri and Kiryu charged forth, attacking Bass with a massive assault of physical and energy strikes alike, in no small part thanks to Duke Satan's support. The Duke was by far the weakest person in this field, he knew that very well, but as he observed the match, he could tell that he was certainly helpful. Protecting Ahri from stray energy bolts and rejuvenating her with a Satan Candy, and giving plenty of opportunities for their ally to unleash some of the most powerful attacks he has ever seen... it all added together into a beautiful symphony, where every single piece was vital in achieving the final, overwhelming result.
Unfortunately, Bass was not satisfied. He endured all of the attacks heading his way through sheer power, and then grinded the battle to a halt. He declared that Ahri's fighting style was not fit for a martial artist, and then turned towards the Duke himself, stating that it isn't right for him to stand back and support his allies instead of charging forth to test his own might against Bass. Finally, he finished by explaining that he belongs to no school of martial arts, only himself, his tenacity and his own guidance. Though mildly disappointing, it was an acceptable path towards unlocking the many, many secrets of martial arts nonetheless. Some of the greatest martial artists Earth has ever seen were hermits, loners, who developed their astounding techniques in complete solitude and only seldom shared them with the rest of the world. To imagine how many spectacular techniques have been lost to history because the only people who wielded them did not share their knowledge with the rest of the world... it was an ache in his heart.
"I believe you are misunderstanding me," Duke Satan responded and took off his sunglasses, folding them and shoving them into the pocket of his coat, as the battle has very clearly come to an end. "I am not a martial artist, pal. I have no strength to test against you or anyone else. All I can claim to myself is a dutiful regimen, a healthy diet and a daily dose of action movies. Instead, I am, as some people may say... a fan."
The towering, muscular man folded his arms and struck a bright smile, revealing a sect of blinding white teeth. "I do not seek to test my strength! I seek to test yours! To travel across the planet, to witness the most powerful martial artists of the planet display their power, skill and technique, and to find ways how to make them reach their limit... That is my real goal, and I have achieved it here today!"
Is it time? Was the scene ready? The Duke certainly thought it was. "Do you remember the proposal I said I was going to offer you before the match began? You see... it is a dream of mine to one day construct a capital of martial arts on Earth, a place where the greatest warriors this planet has to offer can gather, meet each other, train and improve themselves as much as their bodies allow! And I will ask you the same question I ask any excellent martial artist I come across - once this SATAN CITY is finally constructed, may I trust to see you there?"

Post by Kiryu on Oct 6, 2019 9:40:25 GMT -8
At Bass’s tirade, Kiryu raised an eyebrow. This was a side of the Namekian that Kiryu had never seen before. It left a bad taste in his mouth, and he felt is ire rising with every judgment laced word that passed from Bass’s lips.
His mouth tightening into a thin line, Kiryu slowly brought himself before Bass. He concentrated for a moment before murmuring the words, ”Hold still.” Kiryu focused and released a low intensity, invisible wave of ki that would interact with the blocks that Kiryu’s strikes had forced onto Bass’s chakra pathways, alleviating the conditions suffered by the Namekian. Despite his anger, Kiryu would not let someone else suffer needlessly.
After that, he looked up at Bass. A strange look contorted Kiryu’s face as pangs of anger and wounded pride warred within him. After a few moments of silent struggle, Kiryu managed to master his emotions. When he spoke, his voice was nearly monotone. It was calm, level, almost devoid of all feeling, and all the more compelling for it’s strangeness.
“Most of the time, you call me ‘kid’. And I usually don’t mind that, because, well, I am. I am young, and I still have a lot of growing to you.
But this tired nonsense about ‘honor’, and being a ‘proud warrior’? That right there is ample evidence that age is not any guarantee of wisdom.”
Kiryu inhaled sharply, holding his breath for a moment before releasing it slowly. He felt anger begin to tinge his awareness and shape his words, and Kiryu forced himself to relax so that he could continue with as much clarity as he could muster.
“See, here’s the fallacy. ‘Honor’ is the privilege of the mighty and the refuge of the foolish. It’s all well and good to say that a technique or fighting style isn’t honorable. That, because it’s not simply someone trying to hit you as hard as they can while you hit them as hard as you can, it’s not ‘honorable’. And that because it’s not what you view as honorable, your way of fighting is somehow intrinsically more righteous, of greater moral standing.
You only get to say such things when you’re so strong that you don’t need to develop whatever techniques you can think of to win. You only get to harp about a one of the most powerful attacks I have ever seen not being that of a ‘proper warrior’ because you’re so stupidly powerful that a single kick from you can completely shatter my defenses and send me flying.
We’re not all that lucky.
I train every day of my life. For pity’s sake, training is my life, more or less. That’s how Ahri and I know each other. But no matter how hard I train, no matter how strong I get…
You are always going to be more powerful than me.
I don’t begrudge you that. I know you train hard, too. But for you to suggest that I’m not ‘honorable’ because I don’t fight the same you fight… because I can’t fight the same way you fight…
Well.
You’re right. My techniques, if I used them that way, could very easily be lethal. But they never will be. Because to me, that’s where my honor comes into play. I don’t think I have the wit to relate just how long and hard I have trained to be able to do what I do. To know exactly how much damage my internal arts are going to cause. But I do. And if you ask me, I just saw the fruits of my training. If I had fought ‘honorably’ I think you would have mashed me to paste in about five seconds flat. Instead… well, instead we won.
But this isn't over. Not by a long shot. Before too long, you and me are going to have a one on one and we'll push each other even further.”
Kiryu trailed off, a bit unsure where to go from there. Bass was right; Kiryu did not require the Namekian’s respect. That did not mean that he enjoyed being the recipient of disrespect, however. Casting about for something else to focus on, Kiryu grinned over at Ahri.
”Definitely don’t listen to this guy, though. That move was spectacular! Had some of the most power behind it I’ve ever seen. Always good to see people skilled enough to recognize that an open palm can be just as damaging as a balled fist when correctly applied.”
As Duke Satan began to explain his proposal, some of Kiryu's annoyance evaporated. He could not help but have his interest piqued by what was described. It sounded like a veritable Shangri-La for martial artists. Kiryu knew that he would love an environment like that, one where he could train with the best of the best. And it was perfect for what he had in mind; creating powerful allies to stand against whatever evil was necessary.
"That sounds like a hell of a goal. I'm in, if you'll have me. Maybe we should all meet in a couple of days and talk it over. What do you think, Ahri?"

The open palm of Ahri flew through the air at terrifying speeds, before being stopped dead in its tracks by a charging hand, halting her momentum completely. The collision of her wrist and Bass' palm was painful, but Bass didn't seem phased in the slightest. In fact, Kiryu's attacks had barely any affect on the large Namekian either, as their powerful foe simply stood through the attacks, withstanding all of the damage dealt to him. Once Ahri's arm was released, it flopped to her side, as Ahri stared defiantly at the Namek with a look of determination. She listened to the Namek, who declared the attack as wasted potential, and Ahri thought briefly to herself. Why had she decided to slap the warrior instead of punching or kicking him? The sheer rush and power she felt as she charged towards Bass had consumed her, and the hand had ended up flying towards Bass' cheek in the form of a slap. There was more power packed into the attack than she thought was possible, and her arm still stung and ached from the attempt itself. In response to the Namek, she crossed her arms, addressing him.
"Wasted potential, I hear? There was a ton of power packed into that slap compared to my regular punches. If you are offended by an attack like that, I don't think you understand fighting."
She spoke brashly and carelessly, much like her fighting style. Even if that slap might not be incredibly reliable, it had a lot of energy charged into it. She's never listened to negative opinions, and she didn't plan to change the way she fought either, if anyone would differ from her opinion, she would most likely disregard whatever that person said. Kiryu didn't seem too happy either, starting a long rant which Ahri was struggling to wrap her head around. Everything that came out of Kiryu's mouth was directed towards the Namekian, talking endlessly about honor, skill, yada, yada, yada. Duke had also protested against Bass' voiced thoughts, once again, repeating the fact that he wasn't a martial artist, and claiming that he was not here to test his own strength, but others', and Ahri found it hard to find any fault in that. He had even proposed an idea of his, which Ahri had wholeheartedly agreed with.
"You guys can definitely count me in. I guess we could discuss this further, eventually. Anyways," She turned towards Bass as she continued speaking.
"Thank you for the eye-opening spar, Bass. I hope that we've helped each other to realize our potential. Keep getting stronger, and may our paths cross again, one day."
