Will had stopped on his journey back home to take a break. He uses his staff as a makeshift fishing pole to catch himself something to eat, using some vines as rope, and a smaller fish he caught as bait. Then he begins to feel something tugging on the vine, he pulls with his all of his might. The fish he was trying to catch was gigantic so it wasn't going to go down without a fight. The staff was bending from the tremendous force of two strong beings tugging it from both sides until it snapped.
The fish gets away and Will looks at his broken weapon, it has aged a lot anyway so he might as well get a new one. He unties the lucky bell he put at the end of his old staff so he could put it on his new one. Luckily he is in a forest so he can always just find get some wood to make his own staff out of. Until he saw a white-haired boy, one of the things he is carrying seems to be a very high-quality staff. It looks too expensive to get with the pocket change Will has on his body, but then he remembers something, a ring that he picked up earlier. Surely it's worth a high price, he then walks up to the boy to offer it.
"Excuse me, I notice you have a very nice staff and I am needing a new one. How about in exchange for it I have to give you this very nice ring?" Will says.
He presents the ring and moves his fingers across it.
"It's made out of fine metal and the jewel-" while Will is explaining what the ring does he seems to accidentally trigger the ring's true function and laser blasts out of it and kills a bird that falls down from above.
While looking down at the dead bird he looks back up and nervously chuckles and continues to smile as he hopes that the boy accepts the offer.

The staff that Jack had found on his travels was of high quality indeed, but he really had no use for it because he had no training under the mystic arts; and he didn't want to use it in battle because it didn't seem like the sort of thing to be swinging around like a weapon. He had temporarily separated from Kayle and Konja to procure a beast of the wilds to be their feast for the afternoon, or at least part of it. He brought the staff with him in hopes that he would find someone that would be interested in it at least. It was then that Jack noticed that a black cat in a gi with a character that he assumed meant Turtle was bringing up a suggestion for a trade of the staff in exchange for the ring. It was a really nice ring, and it actually would go well with his current outfit. The Cat-Man then demonstrated inadvertently what the ring could do, and this caught Jack's vaccination with the accessory even more. If a ring could do that, then perhaps he could invent even greater things on his own! "Very well then, Master Cat, you can have it. I was afraid I might break it in a fight during my travels, but that ring will be a lot easier for me to work with. I'm not much of a fighter yet, but I'm still learning. I think the ring may be just the thing I need to spark up some creative inspiration for an invention." Jack said respectfully, and offered the staff to Will with both of his hands after kneeling down to the Martial Artist's eye-level. "May it serve you well." Jack added with optimism. He supposed that Will was a master of sorts, because of his garb and his cape, but he wasn't sure what kind of master he was or what he taught exactly. Will O. Wisp

Will then handed the ring and got the staff in return. On closer inspection, it seems to have powerful divination abilities. Something which his father Korin has taught him a bit about. This should prove very useful to him. He then bowed in response to the boy. "Thank you, I do hope that ring is more useful to you then it would be for me. Oh, and if you're ever interested in martial arts, you could come and find me again. It always nice to be teaching more about the Turtle School way to the younger generation. Move well, learn well, play well, rest well, eat well!" Will said and walked off. The kid let out a strange aura but he didn't feel any malice within it, but he did seem to have potentially become quite strong. Better for such a blossom to grow in a tender garden then a cruel evil desert. Perhaps one day they'll meet again. He then ties his bell from his last staff onto the new one, there, looks so much nicer now. Perhaps now the bell can help him predict things attached to this rod instead of just being there for show.
