Cayle once again checked the contents of the hiking backpack which he planned to strap to the front of his torso along with carrying a duffle bag in his right hand as they flew, carrying Tiger Lily on his back as she seemed to enjoy. As he adjusted his clothes while waiting for her, he then thought of the last time they flew and the fact that when they had she proceeded to impromptu choke him in a few instances because she was so afraid of the flight and he had not mastered flight himself to the point of making their travel the type without turbulence.
He had practiced considerably since then, and was confident in his ability to fly them to their destination, though as he thought about it something nagged him the whole time. Yes, he was making considerably more money now that he was working as a vice-president at Taco King, yes he had gotten plenty of his fellow Saiyan refugees jobs, but none the less was it right to spend the money which could otherwise be going to giving them all a real home instead of forcing them to live in temporary housing such as a not strictly legal conversion of a storage warehouse which was one of those owned by Taco King in the dock district of South City.
Was it fair to them, or fair to the future of things, to waste money on a trip? Yes, it was for the birthday of Tiger Lily, but was it fair for him to have fun at the loss of others who were in his care? The Saiyan would-be warlord was troubled by the thought and it was only the arrival of the fiery red head who he was going with and had become so attached to that made him put those thoughts away. He could make any money which he wasted now all over again if he just worked hard at doing it. The icy blue eyed Saiyan simply smiled at his female companion and prepared to carry her on his back when it was reiterated to him that she could fly on her own now. So the two of them flew together to Pilaf Land, the Saiyan former farm boy silent as they did and contemplating what her mastery of flight really meant, especially given the largely dismal outing she and Achido showed in their spar against Cayle. The Saiyan peasant was sure it meant they were getting stronger, and that Tiger Lily was benefiting from his presence, but a part of his being made him think that was overconfidence or some sort of self-serving pride and not an actual fact, so he held back any feeling of joy at the matter and at the idea that it meant they could train together as a group and get stronger, truly making it so that they might provide a threat to the superior numbers and technological might of the Tuffle Science Executive.
While they flew, the Saiyan would-be warlord made sure that he and his red headed companion stopped on a sand bar, once again having a picnic and Cayle asking her which rides she wanted to head to when they got to the park, as well as other important questions given the nature of things- did she want to have separate hotel rooms at the park? Were their any special attractions at the park she specifically wanted to go to? If she just wanted to trot around the park and try what amused them?
With her answers and with the food that he had prepared, -Onigiri with shredded tuna in it as well as curry buns and reinforced bottles of soda or in the case of Tiger Lily, Horchata because the Saiyan had realized she liked it the first time they ate together- the Saiyan and his half-Saiyan companion took off the rest of the way between South City, South Island and the town known as 'Southgate Village', which served as one of the entrances of Pilaf Land. Cayle just hoped that they would reach there before dark or before any more time had passed and they found themselves in a line. They had left for Pilaf Land early in the morning, and while he hadn't had to stop to readjust her because she flew with him, the picnic and the winds of the Southern Sea did slow them somewhat.
It was another hour of flight before they finally arrived, but as Cayle Pota, son of Pota Potaset, who was himself son of Potaset Potaset, who was himself son of Potaset Onio, who was himself son of Onio Pota, who was himself son of Pota the Proud, flew on wards? He was shocked for the first time in his life. Even in the dim light of six am, the sky around Pilaf Land was lit up with neon in a way that almost made it seem like the stars had fallen to the Earth.
