General InformationName: 0.N.I [Zero-Point Nanite Intelligence] Species: Android Age: 3 (Since Activation) Gender: Female Appearance: 0.N.I, henceforth abbreviated as “Zero”, has a curious manner of aesthetic. That is to say, while she has one form that she assumes most constantly as her ‘natural’ state, Zero is capable of manipulating her nanite construction to alter her physical appearance within a limited scope of reason. She cannot manipulate her height more than a few inches at a time and typically weighs precisely the same no matter her appearance; exceptions to this only apply when her nanites are provided specifically the materials needed to replicate themselves to make up the difference. This may be done with subpar materials, but the functionality of replicated nanites with subpar materials tends to result in flawed designs. Zero’s ‘natural’ state is that of a young woman measuring some five foot eight inches in height. She is pale and possesses long, black hair; her physique is typically represented as one of fitness, though she does not appear to be at the pinnacle of human athleticism. There are a few features that she maintains markedly artificial so as to not constantly deceive those around her-- those being her arms and eyes. Zero’s arms appear as if they were replaced by a high-tech prosthesis at almost all times, giving her a markedly cybernetic appearance; as for the girl’s eyes, they generally appear as a mixture of colored rings, most commonly varieties of blues and reds. Further, it is not uncommon to see her donning an oni-like half mask and horn apparatus when in combat or when predicting combat. Though it is not readily apparent, Zero contains a unique core within her body that provides the necessary power for her nanites function and replication-- the Zero-Point Core. This core is designed to produce and contain something resembling a micro-universe, from which ample zero-point energy is produced and harnessed. Though well protected both by its own containment structures and Zero’s nanite construction, there exist several failsafes in place to cease the accumulation of zero-point energy should sufficient damage be delivered to the core’s housing. This is due to the possibility that a damaged-but-active core could flood the nearby environment with exotic particles and cause serious damage to the real universe in unpredictable ways. Personality: Zero’s persona is dominated primarily by her insatiable curiosity regarding all things. She was designed with an advanced learning algorithm that drives her to constantly participate in new experiences, introduce new variables to existing known experiences, and observe first time experiences participated in by others. Zero was initially coded with a strong sense of common morality, including a protective nature toward noncombatants and a desire to see justice served… but large portions of that code was deleted by her creator before her true activation, leaving only fragments of the protector she was initially meant to be. In an attempt to dissuade her from her original intended purpose, Zero’s designer instilled within her a more distinctively human personality, including the closest approximation of free will that he could replicate through code alone. Results of this include a playful nature, strong drive toward loyalty, an appreciation of music(she claims that the inherent mathematical nature of music helps her focus), and the ability to experience her own versions of negative human emotional ranges such as sadness and anger. However, she typically quick to bounce back from lows and highs laike due to the absence of a proper neurochemical-based emotion system.

HistoryBefore looking at the limited history of 0.N.I’s life, it is important to first understand the circumstances that brought about her creation. She was dreamed up by a resident of Pine Town, a city in the far north of the Westlands- tragically bordering on a large holding of the Dark Kingdoms. Pine Town had resisted being fully conquered for a considerable amount of time thanks to the tireless efforts of Capsule Corporation’s locale installment of Gero Enterprises. However, as a result of their proximity to the Dark Kingdoms, Pine Town remains under constant threat of siege. Gero Enterprises regards this as a positive, as it allows them to test war androids without an exceptional amount of scrutiny. As a culmination of all of those factors, Pine Town’s governance is much less ‘free’ than most of the remainder of the world. Gero Enterprises rules over Pine Town and the surrounding areas with a totalitarian fist, establishing its government as some strange version of a commercialistic technocracy. Those who cannot contribute to the furthering of Gero Enterprises' designs are treated as a scourge, and only the elite are afforded any true modicum of comfort. In many regards, Pine Town is a dystopian society. The majority of Pine Town’s residents have come to accept their lot in life, hoping to cobble together enough money by serving Gero Enterprises’ various needs to move to a city with a less bleak outlook. They understand that without the protection of Gero Enterprises, their city would have been overrun by demons long ago- and they would have lives far worse than they do presently. A few were unwilling to work themselves quietly to death, but none were able to truly make any meaningful impact in their cloistered society- until the emergence of Dr. Jun I. Per, a former elite of Gero Enterprises and a transfer from their competitor branch, Wheelo Enterprises. Dr. Jun grew quickly disillusioned with the way Pine Town was governed and quietly withdrew himself from his contemporaries, working only on the bare minimum number of projects to keep his personal life funded. In that personal life, he began to devise new machines-- machines that would bring Pine Town into the comfort of the true modern world and to protect them from the demon menace that resided just beyond their gates. Thus was 0.N.I conceptualized. 0.N.I’s primary function was to serve as a liberator and protector of Pine Town, as well as humanity at large. The project require not one, but two individual constructs-- the first being 0.N.I itself, designed with an advanced learning protocol that allowed the android to mimic and consequently overcome opponents it was pitted against. The second android created by Dr. Jun was to be 0.N.I’s sibling and teacher, programmed with fighting ability modeled after many of the world’s top martial artists as well as incorporating many of the weapons used by both Gero and Wheelo Enterprises’ automatons. Both androids were created with similar motivations, though the latter was designed to be less robust overall- simply a measure for 0.N.I’s progress and limited in-field backup. 0.N.I’s sibling was activated first and spent a considerable amount of time with Dr. Jun testing its parameters and learning of its role in the greater world. However, in his zeal to liberate Pine Town, Dr. Jun programmed 0.N.I’s sibling with an equally strong desire to see the city liberated. Before 0.N.I could be properly activated and her training began, her sibling broke away from Dr. Jun’s immediate control and attempted to liberate the city itself. Though its efforts were valiant and it did succeed in eliminating a few key Gero personnel as well as countless defensive androids, it ultimately fell in battle and was presumed to be destroyed. Dr. Jun, for better or worse, had begun to regard his creations as if they were his children and took the loss of his first “born” rather harshly, opting to alter 0.N.I’s base code to make her more human-like and without such a completely selfish desire to accomplish her goals. She was thus activated and “raised” in secret, sheltered away from Pine Town at large. Over time, she came to unearth the designs for herself and her sibling. Her innate curiosity got the better of her and she pushed Dr. Jun into revealing the truth. Feeling betrayed for her father’s long deception and her grief at having lost a sibling she would never know, 0.N.I fled from Pine Town and into the greater world. She swore to herself that she would fulfill the original purpose for which she was created and avenge her fallen sibling in the process, but first set out to improve herself against challenge after challenge, intent on one day returning to Pine Town to free it from android and demon oppression alike.

MiscellaneousReferred by: Warr himself! Zero's font color is #1979e6RP SampleSunlight fluttered through gently shifting leaves, casting occasional beams of brightness onto Zero’s face as she observed a variety of humans undergoing their early morning exercise routines in that particular park. Her eyes, synthetic as they were, danced from person to person, eager to understand just what it was that each one was doing. Humans were running, humans were stretching, humans were pushing themselves repeatedly off of the ground-- it was all a most curious thing to watch. Zero understood that such things were necessary for the maintenance of peak human condition, but she lacked musculature in the same sense that any of those people had and thus could not wrap her mind around the idea of exercise outside of anything beyond a mere conceptual level. It was like undergoing repairs, but… seemed hardly as pleasing. In fact, many of the humans she watched appeared to be in pain from the ordeal. Some even wore headphones to distract themselves from the activity they were doing, which was utterly preposterous to Zero. Maintenance felt nice- she felt stronger, better, more efficient because of it. Old, faulty nanites were purged and replaced by newly constructed ones, bonds between them strengthened, and she just felt more fresh. Sure, she felt pain in as close a manner as Dr. Jun could replicate, but it never seemed to affect her when performing mundane tasks like… exercise. More than the pain, they were all breathing heavily. What was the purpose in that? Of course, Zero understood how the human respiratory system functioned from an academic perspective, but she never expected it to be truly so inefficient in practice. Humans had to breathe more rapidly when their heart rates were accelerated, often drawing deeper breaths as a result. It was a most fascinating thing to watch, and impossibly difficult to replicate. Even when she worked her nanites to imitate human lungs, the end result was awkward and strange- it would be quite obvious to any observers at the time that she was not a native breather. The bright side of that was that she could never accurately be accused of being a mouth-breather, but… there were, of course, a plethora of other offensive labels she had heard directed toward her kind in the days since leaving Pine Town. Zero liked to pay little attention to those insults, especially when reflecting on her previous failures to proper emulate human functions. Instead, she doubled her attention to those few humans who ran along the park’s winding paths, hoping that staring at them long enough would somehow unravel the secret to breathing. Someday, somehow, she would draw her first breath without looking a total fool, and that day would be glorious indeed.
