Sanare watch the guy yank the staff out of the thief's hands.they thief tried to hold on but sanare quickly sent a kick to his midsection, sending him backwards. The force of her blow caused him to let go of the staff. They had finally freed it from his clutches.
Sanare, still on guard, waited for the thief to try and rush them for the staff. Instead, the man jumped up and ran away from, apparently realizing he wasn't going to get the item back.
So just like that it was over as quickly as it had begun. She turn to her companion, not knowing what to offer for his assistance. In truth she probably didn't need his help, but having his help definitely speed up her search. Plus she was a firm believer in not trying to handle things on your own even if you could.
She held out her hand for the staff and said, “Hey I really appreciate your help today. Sorry but I didn't catch your name.”

When he nearly fell over backwards from how hard he yanked it, managing to catch himself by taking a few steps back. He looked to the staff in his hands, then to the thief who was going to try holding on. He got ready to play the game of keeping an item out of someone’s hands when he saw a quick kick land squarely on the thief’s midsection. He let out an “oooooo!” At the sight of it. Knowing that had to have knocked the air out of him.
After that display, he got back into the game. Holding onto the staff, ready to keep it out of the thief’s hands. Luckily, this guy seemed to know when to quit as he scurried away. The sight of this letting a bit of regret and disappointment seep in. Aw, man. He kinda wanted to turn him in. If he knew they could actually hit the guy, he would’ve just punched him to begin with.
Once the thief was gone, his body relaxed as he then held onto the staff carefully. It could be fragile, he didn’t want to break it. Especially after that thief swung it like a bat. He looked to the victim of this theft, offering a thumbs up to her with his eyes still wide from what happened. He then saw their hand extend, wondering if they wanted a high five. He almost went to give them one when he realized they were asking for the staff. He quickly changed course and handed them the staff. Careful not to hand it back too hard.
Her words causing him to blank on what to say. “Oh, uh, the names Roderick… at least… that’s my nickname anyway…” He said in a tone subtly shy but overall sounding clueless as what to say with hint of like it was rehearsed. “You said your name was Sanare, right?” He surprised himself on remembering that. Maybe he was getting better at that.
