The great worm struck the ground, using its own head as a hammer to try and crush the Saiyan and the mysterious man who had arrived. The air pressure and force of its skull sent an aftershock scattering across the ground and a blast of dust. Grisha had dove out from under the worm and rolled before recovering to his feet. He crossed an arm before his face to guard it from the dust. The grains blasted his arm so harshly that if not for his tough skin, an average human’s flesh would have suffered dramatic abrasion. Grisha wondered what had happened to the strange, presence-less human. He was still bothered by how he had appeared out of nowhere. Why had he gotten in harm’s way? Grisha irritably growled the more he thought about it. Did he not understand danger? His brows then rose and nostrils wiggled as he smelled an interesting meat. The worm, the longer it lingered in the sun, began to cook. The meat smelled unlike anything the giant had ever smelled. It had a coal-like smell from the dirt it ingested, and it also smelled of pork. It was going to die the longer it was deprived of darkness and moisture. It had been a while since he had eaten anything other than rations. Grisha felt saliva welling in his mouth that he swallowed behind a determined smile. He didn’t care that it was meat from a worm. It smelled delicious, and he was eager to try it. WC: 252 Tag: Tolvur-Q12

The blast of dust would wreak havoc on his skin, but not much else. As such he did not bother holding up a hand as the nanites in his 'blood' patched his skin almost instantly, giving this man-ape maybe a second or two to see the robotic insides of Bryce. Along with some leftover intact mucle and organs depending on how close he looked, but those were few and far between.
The mandroid simply watched how this brute reacted, and seeing him trying to deflect or simply defend, it seemed that this thing was very aware of its own mortality, and thus avoided getting hurt wherever possible. But he didn't get out of the way completely which was something that he could easily do, seeing as he pretty much catapulted his way forward earlier. Something about this told Bryce that this thing wanted to stay close. But why?
The worm, grabbing the attention of the mandroid then, seemed to not at all adjust well to this heat. Steam rose off of it and, if Bryce was able to recoil he would do so due to the smell this thing gave off. His face betrayed what he thought, but that was about it. But this other thing, this man-ape or bigfoot or whatever it was- saiyan? Those had tails right? -seemed to not recoil in the slightest. In fact, Bryce could see the stimulating effect this smell had on this assumed saiyan.
''Hungry, are ya?'' Bryce asked, thoroughly confused and horrified if this was actually the case. ''Is food that scarce for ya?'' The mandroid continued, thanking his creators for giving him the ability to go without food, because right now his stomach, if capable of turning, turned and roiled at the sight of the steamy worm paired with the smell. So much so, in fact, that, despite the worm being still alive, even if a tiny bit, he held his nose with his hand and turned his back to it, jokingly pushing his free hand against the back of the saiyan.
''Go on then, make your mark.'' He said, his eyes going over everything else in the quarry. Maybe there was money somewhere. Or better food. The food thing wouldn't help him, but it would definitely be funny to make this guy eat the worm only to find real food somewhere close by. ''Do your disgusting thing.''

The man was still alive, and Grisha thought in brief dread to be barely, but his body did something odd. It mended itself before Grisha’s eyes, concealing an interior he had never seen in a seemingly living being so far. Still, the strange man didn’t run from the apparent danger. He didn’t at all seemed bothered and instead asked Grisha if he was hungry. The giant’s brows shot upward in surprise and his sun-tanned cheeks flushed red in embarrassment. Had it been that obvious? He then glanced at the worm as its body pumped away, attempting to slide backward into its hole. He smirked shamelessly and spoke for the first time to Bryce, “Grisha eat worm thing. Smell good. Maybe taste good.” Grisha had sounded as primitive as he appeared. He spread his feet shoulder-width apart and balled his hands into large fists. “Little Man, watch,” Grisha told him despite Bryce not being little for the species he imitated. Every being was little or tiny to Grisha even if they were larger than him. The giant inhaled deeply through his nostrils. His chest expanded, nearly growing out of his orange tribal robes. Spreading his lips, he exhaled, and a mysterious, wispy condensation escaped through his teeth, appearing more like ki than vapor. A glossy, metallic sheen appeared on Grisha’s skin as though the sweat already on it became polish. Grisha’s power increased even when his power level didn’t. The technique he used had been a unique one. The large Saiyan charged the retreating worm, bellowing like a wild beast. The worm stopped and spread its divided jaws, screeching a threat before it lunged at Grisha. Grisha caught the edges of one pair of its jaws while the second pair snapped like scissors in his face. The worm’s hot breath blew in his face along with sticky globs of drool and sediment. The beast had been strong enough to force him back. His feet dragged as he bared his teeth before he twisted at the hips. His grip remained latched onto the creature’s face as he turned and started to run, dragging the worm. The miners were frozen. Their expressions hadn’t changed much since they first saw Grisha punch the creature. Grisha stomped his sandaled feet into the ground. The dry soil cracked like glass beneath him. The worm started to scream and thrash in protest as it figured out his plot. Raaaah! With a scream and display of strength, Grisha yanked hard on the worm. Its body jerked forward and its tail end popped free, revealing a second head. The second head screeched as it arched into the sky only to fold over and collapse like a tree across the ground. Grisha released the worm as it started to squirm and scream. Its entire body was exposed to the harsh sun and started to sizzle loudly. The odor that had assaulted Bryce’s nose became more potent as the worm burned. Rather than see the creature suffer, Grisha cranked back his fist as waves of heat rippled the air around his body. His fist launched like a cannon, and when it came in contact with the worm’s hardened skull, its chitin shattered in a web-like pattern. The force traveled through its rubber-like body to the other end where the second head had been crying in agony, and similarly, the helm of the second worm fragmented. Both heads ceased their noise and movement. Steam rose off of Grisha’s body as the sheen became duller. His chest was rising and falling with his deep and controlled breaths, and after inspecting the unmoving worm for a few seconds longer, he turned to Bryce and held up his thumb with a proud grin on his face. Before he bothered to sample the worm, he knew there was something more important he had to do. Grisha walked away from the enormous carcass and calmly approached the gaggle of dumbstruck miners. He stopped before them, gazing at their stunned faces. Smiling sheepishly, he removed the hard hat he had borrowed and handed it back to the project chief. “All done,” Grisha said. The project chief’s eyes lowered to the hard hat and subconsciously he took it. Holding it in his hands, his eyes blinked once; twice; and then thrice. He then suddenly snapped out of his stupor on an exclamation, “HOLY GUACAMOLE! You must be one of those martial artists! We were quite fortunate that you stumbled across this place! We owe you an apology. We thought you were some big idiot willing to throw his life away.” Grisha’s face tightened some as he resisted frowning. Didn’t they all? More than once he was reminded how people outside of his village thought he sounded stupid when he talked. He somewhat regretted avoiding Lena’s language lessons. “All of the miners are safe. We…we don’t know how to repay you.” “I do,” said one of the miners. He approached Grisha and removed from his pocket a shiny stone. It appeared like milk and glowed like the moon. “I found this fancy ore in the mines. It was where that worm kept us all captive. You can have it. That worm may even have more inside it. I think it liked to eat it.” Grisha’s eyes grew large in amazement as he accepted the pretty ore. It would make a beautiful gift for Lena. “That ore is rare, but I know a guy who may know what to do with it. He is a weird one who lives on top of the tallest mesa in the desert. That man can forge anything. You should find him and show him that stone.” Grisha glanced at the glowing rock before he tucked it away into his pouch. “Thanks,” was all the giant said before he turned back toward the worm—he was starving. He paused just to wave over his shoulder. “Bye.” “Bye warrior!” the project chief bade. “We won’t forget what you did here!” The other miners gave Grisha their goodbyes. WC: 1,000 Tag: Tolvur-Q12

Bryce, even if for a second, forgot the smell of the worm as this man ape saiyan thing spoke, allowing him to check most if not all the stereotypes he had heard about saiyans. They ate, had tails, liked fighting.. and now this one seemed to add sounding like a caveman into the mix. But more than that, he gave the mandroid his name, which he spoke through using third person to grab Bryce's attention. But as quickly as he had gotten it he would also get on his bad side, if monks even had one, by calling him little. And while Bryce didn't really mind it himself, something in his body didn't quite agree as he just nodded and watched whatever this saiyan was going to do to this poor, poor worm.
Being eaten by a caveman saiyan was definitely not a good way to go, even if you were a smelly and decrepit monster worm that had to live underground all the time. Which begged a simple question, why did it surface in the first place if it could just stay underground just as easily? A sense of pride? Because, as the miners would mention, the thing ate rocks. Shiny ones. You'd think something with intelligence would let people dig it up safely before eating it himself. Which sounded awfully peaceful, and yet again was something a part of him did not agree with.
Then Grisha did something fun; he hit the worm with a single punch and cracked it without raising his own power or anything. And although it was a stereotype that saiyans liked fighting and were likely capable of having nifty ways to do so, this did raise the simple question of just how strong this one was.
But Bryce wouldn't just ask that, in fact, he tried his best to not even react to Grisha having done that as he turned to the mandroid and held up a thumb, before moving over to the miners and saying the job was done.
Now, for as silent Bryce had been, or not been, this got him to turn around with his arms crossed over his chest. ''You got money for this?'' He asked Grisha, assuming that the semi cavesaiyan thing was capable of just understanding normal speech. But in case he didn't, the mandroid looked at the miners. ''You guys paid this bag of rocks for this?'' It was obvious he didn't yet see the rock they gave him as his question was posed.
Then again, saiyans enjoyed fighting and eating, not really something you would need money for. Besides, this Grisha seemed to not be that picky about his source of food. Speaking of which..
''For a price I'll help you get rid of this thing!'' Bryce called out, his thumb pointing at the smelly, decrepit, dead and way too big for mere miners to move, as Grisha kindof.. seemed to forget the thing existed. At least to Bryce. Which was very odd considering he had an interest in it.

The miners were giving Bryce a blank look. One of them answered, “It’s just a rare shiny rock. I suppose it can be sold for zeni, but it won’t be of much use to the buyer. Only a special smith can forge it into something other than a rock. Since I don’t have the time to travel the desert looking for him (if he is even still alive), I don’t mind giving it up.” When Bryce offered to get rid of the worm for a price, the miners seemed unwilling to part with any money they may have made. The project chief crossed his arms before his chest and reasoned, “If you can get rid of that thing, then you can have whatever it might have. Its shell, organs, guts…” He shrugged his shoulders. “It might all be useful for something or useful to someone somewhere.” He then pointed to Grisha who seemed to be already inspecting the creature. He removed fragments of its helm, sniffing as he went as though searching for the meat he smelled. It was difficult to find when the worm mainly smelled of wet soil. “Looks like he’s beating you to the job,” the chief informed. WC: 201 Tag: Tolvur-Q12

So basically the rock was useless. Whatever amount of zeni it would make Grisha woule be mninor. And then there was the issue of Bryce not having anything.
But when his attention was pulled to where the saiyan was, investigating the corpse of the worm and taking it apart while sniffing, Bryce sighed softly and thanked the miners anyway with a small bow. After all, he still had some manners, even if they were often overshadowed by other things. He would halt a moment before moving over to Grisha though, thinking about what he could do to make some money out of this. Or maybe a friend.
Friend. This thing would at least make a decent training partner as Bryce doubted there could be any real friendship between them.
Finally he snapped out of his mind and his feet carried him forward towards Grisha who was.. doing something. Finding food? Whatever it was, the smell of the worm was a lot more bearable now.
''You were serious about eating this thing, then?'' Bryce asked the saiyan who may or may not had been aware of his presence. ''Could be fun to see one of you in action, I guess.'' He took to the air as he said that and seated himself on top of the worm, not really caring about residual heat or smells. His body would counter those anyway. ''I have one question though.'' The mandroid then began. ''Why don't you just blow this thing up? I feel that's a lot faster than doing whatever you are doing now.''
''Unless-'' Bryce suddenly figured, his index finger up in the air as if he had the idea of the century. It even got him to drop down from the worm and behind Grisha, looking over his shoulder. ''-you're gonna sell this thing, aren't ya?''

Grisha was removing brown fragments of chitin. Some of the chitin was as tall as a boulder and had to be carefully removed in order to not bring the rest of it down in a heap. Beneath the chitin, the worm still had a viscous, sticky fluid that was holding its shattered face together. Grisha had to reach an arm into the warm, slimy liquid and while most would have recoiled at the sensation or even the idea of doing so, the Saiyan was hardened and knew what had to be done. “Worm food,” Grisha told Bryce firmly. The Saiyan wrenched out what appeared to be a large, steaming, dripping stalk of purple broccoli, but the massive plant was the worm’s brain. He tossed it aside in his planned pile. He didn’t think the lungs, liver, or any similar organs would be good since the worm mostly ate dirt. If it had a heart, then the muscle tissue would be good. Bryce would see Grisha disappear inside the worm as its clear fluids pooled like blood across the sand. “Grisha cannot,” the Saiyan answered, his voice resonating from inside the creature as though he were back in the mines. “Grisha cannot blow up things. Can only punch things.” Bryce would feel the worm jostle beneath him. The giant was apparently moving through the creature and could soon emerge from the head at the other end. ''Yadda yadda yadda.'' Bryce repeated absentmindedly as he took to the air once more to place himself on top of the worm to save himself from the blood collecting underneath him. Though, by admiring what this Grisha had done and judging by how the worm was moving under him, he didn't dare assume it was any safer up here than it was down there. But what he did assume, was that the saiyan would likely give some kind of warning when the thing was about to collapse, or give way, or whatever else. The only thing Bryce knew for sure was that it wouldn't blow up, seeing as the giant said that he was unable to do so. That simultaniously confused the mandroid and relieved him of some stress.
''Is this gonna take long?'' He asked as he heard the voice resound from inside the worm. ''I wanna see someone make something worthwhile out of that rock they gave you.'' After all there could very well be something in it for him along the way. At the very least he could challenge this guy to a fight of some sorts, no way a saiyan would deny him that.
A brief moment passed of Bryce zoning out before snapping to, finding that the rear part of the worm had started moving and the piles Grisha made being slightly larger. Apparently he was planning something, and so the mandroid climbed to his feet and rose a few feet into the air to get himself a better view of what was going on. Crossing his arms over his chest nonchalantly he waited for something to happen, though not at all trying to rush Grisha.
Because as grimey and gross this would be to most, it was kind of fun to see someone subject themselves to this. ''Can I blow this thing up?'' He finally asked, a slight smile on his face. ============================== TWC: 1,524

The jaws of the head at the end of the worm suddenly opened, and a wave of mud-like substance gushed out of its mouth. A leg was seen poking out of the mud until the deluge slid to a stop as it started to dry in the heat. Grisha sat upwards, his entire body a dark mixture of mud and mucus. One of his hands rose to his face in a clenched fist, and he wiped a layer of muck from it. Clenched in Grisha’s other fist was an artery stem connected to two large hearts buried beneath the ichor. Glinting from within the paste was a second stone, twinkling in the sunlight. From Grisha’s position, he couldn’t take notice of it. He instead glanced up at Bryce who had been whining like a bored teenager. The giant didn’t know why he hung around. He wasn’t interested in eating the worm. At his second question, Grisha narrowed his eyes and contemplated his request. He glanced about at everything he had collected so far: two brains and two hearts. The rest of the worm was full of inedible skin and dirt. He therefore surmised that he had gotten what he needed from the creature and no longer saw value in it. “Blow up. Okay,” Grisha agreed. He rose to his feet, hopelessly slapping the mud from his pants legs. It removed some excess, but it hadn’t cleaned his clothing or restored its old orange colors. He turned to drag the hearts, and then pawed through the mud to find the second brain he had removed. While he went to retrieve the other brain, he meditated over the dish he was going to make. He wasn’t Lena, but he did remember helping her cook. WC: 292 Tag: Tolvur-Q12

That was.. not the answer Bryce had been expecting to receive. Mostly because he didn't even know where the question came from in the first place. There was a time where he wouldn't even utter words like that to begin with, but this entire situation so far had been him dipping into the darker side of himself. And that part of him wasn't fun, and so far there was little to no success in keeping it all to himself, mainly because even he was surprised at what he would say most of the time. Oddly enough though, Grisha didn't respond to it in any way to make the mandroid feel uneasy. That took the edge off.
''Hooboy.'' Bryce sighed, having dug himself into an awkward hole with this one. It would definitely help right now to just be able to turn off his senses or get another surge of the 'dream' as he, and the other droids of his line, would call it.
He slowly got up to his feet and began lifting off into the air inch by inch, his feet going slack in the process as they left solid ground. Flying up and away slowly, he turned himself around to watch at the worm and briefly over at Grisha who he hoped had gotten out of the way. But before he could mention anything he went into that dreamstate, not knowing what was going on with the posh side of himself and instead just caring about the situation at hand; he had the go ahead to blow up this edible worm.
So he extended his arm, pointing at the carcass with a single finger. Bryce tilted his head and smiled, halting for a second before a small bulb of energy was seen hovering in front of his finger. ''Pay attention.'' He urged Grisha briefly before going back to focusing on the energy on his fingertip; energy that would quickly split into four seperated beams of energy as it progressed. Within seconds froom that point it slammed into the shell of the worm, exploding on impact and blowing up a big cloud of smoke and sand, but also blood and guts or muscles that may have been missed.
Depending on how close Grisha was or how fast he was he would be covered in blood, dust and sand, not to mention left over guts and intact bits of shell. Pieces of shell that didn't hit Grisha would be blown out with such speed that they hit nearby ground, rocks, or worse with the speed of a bullet if they didn't just disintegrate from the force of the blast.
Bryce chuckled. ''Boy that felt good.'' He said. ''Nothing like some target practice to- you know.''
Then, he turned to Grisha as he slowly landed on the ground beside him. ''So, I take it you're done?'' He asked. ''What's next? More worms?''
It was the moment he got on the same level as the saiyan that he noticed a glare in the corner of his eye. Even through the added muck and extra guts it almost called out to him and made him forget being a whiny bitch for just a moment. Because.. they said this worm ate the shiny rocks, and it took Bryce blowing one to smithereens to be met with something shiny. Maybe this was another one of those rocks. Luckily Grisha hadn't taken note of it either, and so the mandroid subtly made his way over to the shine.
Slowly he fished it out of the goo and held a small and twinkling stone in beween his thumb and index finger. ''How did I miss you?'' He softly asked before turning around to face Grisha. Because now he had an actual reason to maybe stay close to this guy, he assumed he was gonna go look for that smith who could work the rock he had, and that meant he could work with Bryce's stone too!
Silently he stepped back over to Grisha, stone in his hand. ''Looks like I'm going to be following you around a bit longer.'' The mandroid said. =============================== TWC: 2,189

Grisha had walked the length of the worm until he came before the first brain he had removed from its first head. He dumped all of the meaty organs he had collected on top of it into a pile, and then glanced up at the floating man. The Saiyan’s dark brows rose in surprise to see him floating in mid-air. This guy could fly? Was he standing on something? He pointed at the worm and a bead of energy appeared at the tip of his finger. Grisha stupidly watched him create more beams that all shot down upon the worm carcass. The explosion created a loud noise, a large screen of sand and dust, and sent guts raining everywhere.
The miners were gawking from afar. “Did that guy have dynamite?”
“No! He blew it up with a laser gun or something!”
As the screen started to clear, Grisha was standing there with his hands upon his hips. Slimy slabs of meat and mud-covered entrails were hanging and dripping off of his chest, shoulders, and head. There was a long frown on his face as he watched Bryce casually land next to him.
“Why Little Man care?” Grisha asked irritably. Apparently, he wasn’t bothered by being covered in worm guts. He was more concerned with Bryce’s desire to follow him around and get in his business. He watched his attention shift to something. He hadn’t noticed it before but when he watched Bryce walk over and pick it up, he saw that it was an ore similar to the one he had. Grisha even patted his inner pocket where he had stored it to make sure it hadn’t been his. When Bryce told him that he was going to follow him, he figured it was because he knew he was going to search for the smith that knew what to do with the stones. Grifter sighed in exasperation—his eyes narrowing.
“Okay,” was all Grisha said before he turned to go find where the food he had gathered had scattered. He wasn’t going to go on an adventure on an empty stomach and so he was going to make a fire and have lunch before they started their journey.
