Vacation was going well, this was turning into that and things just didn't stop moving down in the South. Or up in the South? It was actually up in the South. Needless to say he almost felt inclined to take a vacation from his vacation, so he would quite literally do exactly that. He was in the process of figuring things out with the Tree of Might. Simple shenanigans to get strong enough to take over the world. Though his approach to World Domination wasn't like all those other losers. His World Domination was a simple declaration. Those that wanted to oppose it were always welcome to come forward and challenge him, if they beat him that was done fairly and without question; the world was there's to keep. That is why Bass needed to be so strong, emphasis on strong. He wasn't a fighter about this fancy trick and that fancy trick. At the end of the day what mattered most is coming in like a missile and having the payload to blow through any bunker in your way; Kami forbid they're not in a bunker. It was with that sentiment that he dawned an extremely heavy gi he'd found during his travels. Found is one way to put it, paid someone with his dwindling previous years bonus was more accurate. Though the thing was amazing. Doing anything was like actively working out. It made life difficult again when the routine had gotten all too simple.
Now even when he wasn't actually able to work out, he could work out wearing this under his dress shirt and pants, and tie. Which was actually what he was wearing right about now. Strolling out of a small village in a clean white dress shirt, a blue tie and black slacks. Neat black dress shoes slipped over his feet and a look like he could take on the world. He was excited to be alive today, the Southern Lands was home to thousands of adventures. Of course, everywhere had their mysteries and lost artifacts, dangers and secrets. Though in these Southern Lands so many things had happened over the centuries that it had become a place of gathering for so many important things. Tournaments, a meeting point for powerful fighters. Artifacts once held by Z Fighters in the previous Golden-ish... Era? That was one of the things he'd found a bead on. Somewhere in this place. His vacation if he was being honest with himself lasted about two more days until he needed to start rowing back to shore. Though if he could get enough Zeni to actually afford a boat that travel time could be cut significantly to allow him more time to stay in this place.
Walking through a rolling field of grass with his hands stuck in his pocket, he squinted at the vibrant sun above. To think chaos and disaster was always prevalent in this place was hard when you took a moment to take in the scenery. Though in reality it was home to the Southern Demon Lands, a place where those that sought no other means to rule than fear presided. He wasn't going to bother to try and grab the tsunami, he'd just close the gash in the Earth that created that wave in the first place. King Piccolo. He'd come to terms with his intentions to surpass him, yet he still wanted to believe until that point he was doing the things he was doing because he wanted to help. Despite how utterly disgusting the wrinkly sack of skin was, it stood true that he was technically his father. Even if chosen to be all too different than his natural bloodline. He wasn't quite a direct son of him, but nonetheless there was no one else in his life that fit the role of caretaker more perfectly than the guy who literally vomited him up. Letting out a sigh he kicked his foot at the hill he was standing on and staring out from. It would probably be smart for him to start working out. It was a nice location, plenty of good scenery. Occasionally birds and monsters flew through the sky in the distance. One even flew incredibly close, going as far as to land in front of him. Wow. It looked to be some kind of crazy looking pterodactyl? with a broad wingspan and a bulky body, as per the natural magic of this world it let out a screech that sadly was comprehend-able.
"Fresh meat come to walks in Squawks hunting ground. Let me eat you and it won't hurt -squawk!" It shouted obnoxiously, causing Bass's face to almost start to drop as he lost all enthusiasm in his expression. He looked incredibly unimpressed with the creature and proceeded after several moments to pinch the bridge of his nose between his thumb and right index finger.
"Sure, start with my arms." He'd say, extending them out in front of him. Just... Forward, almost like he was driving a car or something. Squawks was a little taken aback.
"Let SQUAWKS EAT?! Person weird, not even run!? AHAHAHAHAHAHA-SQUAAAAAAAAAAAWK!" It shrieked, making Bass cringe as his eyes narrowed ever so slightly. Thumping forward in an almost comical wobble the teeth laced beat got closer and closer to the extended arms. Oh no! It looked like it was going to make a mistake! Lurching forward with a loud "SQUAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWK!" The beak opened wide and went to clamp down on Bass's two arms.
Shifting his stance so that both limbs handled the bottom and top parts of the beat respectively, he held it open without that much effort as all as drool slobbered down onto the ground between them and over his hands. Absolutely disgusting, he'd need to buy some hand sanitizer somewhere around here. Animals.
"Squawks. Squawks. I need you to listen to me here." He said, the creature flailing as it let out shrill sounds and tried to bite down harder. "You're not getting anywhere. Squawks, I need you to relax. Come on buddy, if I can get from nine to five you can go on flying away and find another meal. Or I could give you twenty zeni and you could go buy some food." Squawks still shrieked, but the monster was getting quieter and quieter as it realized what it was doing was incredibly futile. Slowly it gave up and closed the beak as Bass shoved it away.
"Tell your friends not to annoy me in this area. I can't rule the world if the monsters in it don't even know how to monster right. You need to go for the right people or not people at all. Be scary, scare villages to give them incentive to become stronger to ward you off, and then move on. Stuff like that. Being a monster is a pretty important job in cultivating a healthy population of warriors. Who knows how many people I'll allow at my side to fight for us if we ever need too." He said, shrugging.
Squawks was just so confused. Literally just about cross-eyed at this point with what just happened. So much to process for that little (ironically larger than Bass's) brain. It just let out a weak squawk, lifted off and started to flap away.
"Now..." He'd say to himself, laying onto his back and starting some sit-ups. It was time for a workout, intruders beware.

While some could be found frolicking through town squares and others performing excessive acts of exercise while on vacation, Zero was instead doing her very best to practice something of the utmost importance. What was important to this particular android might have been seen as trivial to others, or perish the thought, entirely pointless. You see, she was the sort of ‘person’(if she could even be accurately called that) who needed to practice each and every thing. This included tasks as mundane as breathing and as complex as splicing together complex montages of mathematically satisfying musical orchestrations-- but it was the former that she struggled with more. Of course, the android could fairly accurately replicate the motions that a living being made when they were partaking of that life-giving air that encompassed the world, but that was not enough to sate her curiosity. She wanted to know what it truly meant to breath, and that included shaping her nanites into a function replica of a human respiratory system. Or, well… they had taken the shape of a respiratory system, but had yet to succeed in actually emulating their properties in a convincing way. When she asked others for their input, their responses were often shocked and bewildered; more than once, she had been advised to see a doctor about the god awful wheezing she made when attempting to breath. However, breathing was not what Zero was practicing on this particular day. No, she was… Zero was pretending to be a leaf. Specifically, she was emulating a leaf in the wind. Only recently she had begun to work out that she could utilize her practically endless supply of energy to achieve levitation and something vaguely resembling propulsion, but anything that took her more than a few feet off of the ground was… sloppy. Of course, she understood how avians and airborne mammals succeeded in achieving flight, but her methods of doing so did not involve wings. That was not to say that she had not tried forming her own set of intricate nanite wings, but she found that she was too heavy to achieve any significant lift using those artificial appendages and had consequently given up. The closest thing to a demonstration that she could find were archaic videos of men and women utilizing crude “jetpack” technology, but even that had too limited movement for her to properly justify replicating. Hover Cars might have been a better representation of the flight she wanted to accomplish, but even they were comparatively unwieldy when she considered just how agile she wanted to be in the air. So, instead, she did as all wayward geniuses did and looked to the natural world around her. For better or worse, the first thing she noticed that awarded anything even resembling inspiration was… a leaf. That leaf had been blown free from a nearby tree and sent dancing through various shifting currents of air, forcing it to twist and shift about with an agility that nothing else demonstrated. To that end, she had propelled herself into the air and soared toward the nearest sources of powerful air currents that her inner scanners could detect. Once there, she did what could only be described as “reckless falling.” Zero lifted herself into the middle of powerful gusts time and time again, only to sever her propulsion’s power and observe how the wind shoved her around during her descent. Progress went far slower than she had hoped it would, but it was still infinitely more effective than staring at an immobile hover car with frustration. The android practiced her ‘falling’ for miles upon miles, rising and descending almost rhythmically as data continued to accumulate within her memory. It took time, but she did slowly succeed in developing equations to calculate her own aerodynamic potential and the precise amount of force to exert from various directions to achieve mid-air corrections. Though her progress was exponential, she still remained only as agile as a baby bird after several hours of her practice. However, her ‘training’ was rather abruptly interrupted by several alerts seizing her attention at once. Zero ceased her falling and hovered in place, swiveling her head to lock on the direction that her sensors were indicating that a particularly large power was originating from. At this distance, it was difficult for her scanners to get a fully accurate reading on the power source, but it was certainly substantial. Perhaps even several times larger than her own combat potential, if her estimations were correct. To the best of her knowledge, there were no combatants in that general region that should have possessed such a strength-- in fact, she had never properly encountered any being with a potential power quite so high. Sure, she had something resembling a recollection of the combat data extracted from the androids that defended Pine City from demonic assaults, but… those numbers were imprecise and much of the aforementioned combat data had been scrubbed from her logs by Dr. Jun in an attempt to prevent her from doing anything as foolish as, well, she had been doing lately. Her records only had references to fights and the collateral damage of such; those approximate powers were extrapolated from building repair records. Based on that, Zero could safely estimate that this potential power source was at least strong enough to break a defensive fortification of Pine City. Maybe even two. Needless to say, she had to investigate- and so the android set off, soaring toward the power source’s location without a worry in her mind. Soon, the android reached a distance close enough to Bass’s location that she could lock precisely onto his power source. It was… even more substantial than her scanners had initially estimated. In fact, she figured that it was likely five times her own, if not even more so. That should have frightened her, but she was instead filled with an insatiable curiosity. If some living being had achieved a power that high on their own, they likely would have a substantial amount of combat data to learn from. Perhaps she could even multiply her own power similarly! Zero altered her trajectory and accelerated, zooming toward the power source… … until she came into visual range of Bass. Immediately upon seeing him from on high, Zero’s eyes went wide out of shock. He was a demon! A demon here, in the South, of all places! Her mind whirled with the possibilities, pondering just how something like that had wandered so far from its kingdoms. Had Pine City fallen at last, while she was out fooling around with meager humans? That seemed unlikely… a forward raiding party of some kind, maybe? Even more unlikely, as it was only a single demon. A scout, then? If that was the case, why was he wearing human clothes? Ultimately, it didn’t matter. If there was a demon here, 0.N.I’s defensive protocols indicated that she had to prevent it from harming any nearby humans. The nanites on Zero’s face shifted and reshaped themselves into her tell-tale combat mask; those that made up her ‘skin’ similarly adjusted to take on the appearance of a matte grey, skin-tight, combat suit. She redirected her energies and descended at an ever-increasing speed toward Bass’s location. The android did not… account for the time necessary to properly stop herself and did the only thing that she could: crash land. Zero collided with the earth some fifteen or twenty meters ahead of Bass’s workout spot, causing the ground to erupt with a thunderous explosion of noise and dirt. She cratered the ground substantially around her point of impact, hitting with force enough to render her body temporarily immobile. Ah, well, there was always next time to improve her landing. When motor function returned to her frame, the android pulled herself out of the dirt and lept onto her crater’s lip, immediately jabbing an accusatory finger toward Bass’s location. “ You have slain your last, Demon! Identify yourself at once and prepare to be judged!” she was referring to judgment of his crimes, of course. Zero had certainly already judged him for his horrendously mundane taste in clothing. wc: 1373 twc: 1373 Bass

The exercise was insane. He hadn't felt this sort of intensity in years since he had reached a plateau in his strength. These specially weighted clothing brought back the thrill of a good exercise and he was in the perfect spot for a nice isolated workout. One sit-up had quickly turned into easily a hundred with the Expert Training Equipment before he even considered coming to a stop for a short moment. Though frankly when thoughts of stopping arose it was generally in Bass's head a signal to go even harder than before. The temptation to quit is your mind trying to betray your body the justice it deserves to reach the peak of physical performance. Sit-ups became push-ups, and for push-ups he went a little further to perform them with just his right arm and his other hand behind his back. It was the sort of thing that to outside forces that couldn't sense power level literally looked like some weird dude on a hill working out. While he was enthralled in the intensity of pushing himself to keep going, nobody else that saw him without the context of his power level would be inclined to feel any of that intensity. It might even look funny from a while away. And unlike the threat that would soon show itself he had absolutely no way to read power level. Well, that wasn't actually true anymore. Fetching the thing out of his pocket he looked it over in his free hand during his push-ups. A modern day scouter that he'd picked up after having gotten some old scouter back in South City for who knows what reason. The city wasn't really the gathering point of many people that needed to have their power levels noted. In fact, it'd been a while since he'd even seen anyone close to his. He tended to these days keep it a surprise so he maintained the thrill of not knowing what to expect. Plus, relying on technology to one hundred percent handle the issues presented was just exposing inevitable vulnerabilities.
That is why he was so frustrated with this ai that always spit information in his ears. Right now it was helpful and that pissed him off to no end. He should already know what it's telling him in the moment and be able to adapt on the fly. He should already be able to block the blows that it is telling him to block. Though at his current state hits still slip through the gaps and that damn robot isn't even enough to stop it all. It was seriously pathetic, and getting rid of it was part of the drive to reach a plateau of perfect power. It doesn't have to be awesome but it must be perfect. A well oiled machine that always moves in stride despite the odd. That was the temple that was the body, the fuel that was the soul and ki. Taking in a deep breath, he sat up after who knows how many repetitions of whatever he was doing by that point. Reaching for the scouter he'd set to the side he noticed... Tilting his head- was that something in the sky? He was very used to seeing things in the sky. Though things, this at least looked different enough to not fit the standard bill of giant monster or tiny passing bird. He'd raise the Modern Scouter up and attack it to his head, raising his other hand to shield his eyes from the sun as he looked up. It was reading... His mouth opened agape a little and he squinted like an old man as he fiddled with the tech to get the number. Seeing a value shifting for several moments it began to determine the digits starting by the hundreds, than tens and then a decent calculation of the precise number as a whole. That was far outside of bird and bumbling monster territory, that was for sure. Plus as it got even closer into view he could notice a humanoid shape. That was definitely a person, and most fascinating was that they were flying right towards him.
It was an understatement to say he was a magnet for competition. Anyone that could sense power levels would obviously want to him fight him or check it out. While he didn't know how to sense his power level he'd been around enough people and done enough in general to know it was damn high, high enough to turn heads and raise brows among martial artists that knew the technique. Though it was nothing compared to the legends of old. Yet in a twist of fate he accepted this reality. Since as he got stronger his power level would be noticeable in a greater area and more would come to see what it was. It would only go on and on and on until he'd defeated all those that wanted to challenge him to stop him from taking his spot as ruler of Earth. It's not like it was reserved for him, but he'd damn well earn the strength to take it for himself. Still, folding the scouter so it wasn't tinting his vision partly he watched the figure continue to approach until they started to fly towards him like a missile. Maybe they were too immersed in being a missile and forgot being an explosive payload or using your head as a weapon both ended in suicide. They ground to a halt with a spooky impact that shook the ground and kicked up a hell of a lot of dirt. Blinking slowly, the Namekian couldn't help but slowly scratch at his right cheek contemplating the clumsiness of this person. Person? Person. He didn't know any better to think otherwise, he really wasn't the most perceptive. Even with their tail in plain view it took him almost three minutes to realize someone was a Saiyan.
He was that kind of inept at perceiving his surroundings. Still, damn that was a big crater. Really took a dive to be getting up so soon, it'd be a stretch to figure this person was Human. Though with his Power Level he could probably take a fall like that too. Maybe the technology was a bit flawed? Maybe. He wouldn't trust the readout that he was given and instead judge this individual by their capabilities. That is, if they even fought. As it stood he didn't really have any intentions on fighting with them, though as soon as everything booted back up in the android they seemed like they wanted to pick a fight with him. The moment that accusatory hand was pointed at him he'd raise both hands into the air like he had a fireteam trained on him, eyes going wide like he was completely innocent. Hearing what she had to say, he'd tilt his head. Wasn't it supposed to go 'You're under arrest, and resisting will result in physical force?' This figure just led with the 'prepare to fight' line without even giving him an option to explain himself. It's not like he was particularly against that, but he would at least humour her request for a name and... That was about it.
Standing there with his hands up he spoke. "Uuuuh, well first off. Hi, nice to meet you. I'm Bass, Bassically a really strong guy with a really strong career. It's been a while since I was referred to as Demon so harshly. I guess around here they're pretty active... Makes sense." He said, his hands starting to lower; which was while not intended one of two aggressive signs of his enemy was on a hair trigger. Though what he did next was enough to rattle just about anyone in this tense of a situation, and even if this android might think herself the exception he did this with quite literally everyone he met of note regardless of the tension in the atmosphere. Perhaps it was something he picked up. Particularly, learned via a fight with a Saiyan from another time. Was it a handshake to commence a fight? Not necessarily, though it was proper manners to at least do so.
Therefore the present moment unfolds where Bass walked forward with his hand outstretched for a handshake. It's not like he was approaching as if trying to tame a wild beast, he was just strolling on up to give the android a handshake. If she accepted it, great. Though quite literally everything screamed this was untrustworthy.
Plus, if she did take the handshake he'd probably not make things better by toying with the tension in the air by trying to spook the figure with a little toss into the air. Though, merely an attempt if things even got to that point. He'd have to wait and see.

The way that the ‘demon’ lifted its hands into the air as though it had just been stopped by some common police officer caused Zero’s head to tilt curiously to the side. Was it possible that he was not truly some evil being, and was dressed the way he was because… he was a citizen? The calculated probability of that was particularly low, given how large his power level was. Sure, there was a small chance that he- and any other office worker- could have achieved such a level simply by devoting the majority of their time to self improvement, but… wouldn’t that make them an exceedingly awful office worker? When Zero attempted to imagine it, all she could picture was a man taking calls while hanging upside down from a bar at his desk, performing aerial crunches between reading off lines from his customer service script. The mental projection was an amusing one, but highly unlikely to achieve the result that was so obviously on display before her.
Then he began to walk forward, hand extended as though he wanted to shake her hand. It was oddly cordial given the context of their meeting, and that too caused a shadow of doubt to pass through Zero’s mind- even going as far as obfuscating the raw facts of probability she had just calculated. For a moment, she began to shift her accusatory hand to welcome Bass’s own, but her security protocols warned her against it quickly enough for her to instead spread her fingers wide and point her palm at him. She was not yet gathering energy into her hand, but if he was familiar with even the basics of ki, he would know that it was a gesture of warning.
“Your biological makeup can be accurately cross-referenced with many denizens of the Demon Kingdoms-- that information is freely available through many public academic articles. It is for this reason that you have been accused of such heinous crimes. However…” she paused, allowing her personality to take over for the baser drives imbedded within her coding, “... I am willing to accept the possibility that you are an extreme outlier, even despite your incredible latent power. Given that your physiology is different enough from a human’s, it is impossible to determine whether or not you are lying by conventional methodology. Therefore, I must assume that there is an equal chance that you are attempting to deceive me. You understand the predicament this puts me in?”
Zero’s stance shifted suddenly, taking up an aggressive but motionless battle-ready position; her legs were spread wide apart, palm still facing Bass while the other hand had curled into a fist and hovered parallel to her face. She was clearly preparing to fight, but had not yet resolved to launch the first attack unprovoked. Instead, she spoke once again:
“I have determined that the most efficient method of determining your alignment is to do battle with you. My scanners indicate that you have the potential of dispatching me quite handily, so I will propose this: restrain your power for the duration of our engagement and refrain from dealing a deathblow and I will do the same. Through this, you will prove that you are at least not an active threat to the mankind that I have sworn to protect. Do you find these terms acceptable?”

Listening to the Android, the Namekian's brows just contorted in confusion. It wasn't really often he communicated with an android, so the very technical way of speaking took him a moment to wrap his head around with all the big fancy words being used. Though when it came to her proposition he figured he understood it proper enough. It was an incredibly weird request based on how it was worded and it made the Namekian ponder even harder. "Wait, restrain my power? Do you mean like pull punches or...? I haven't had much experience trying to fight less effectively than I could otherwise, but I'll try to only take half-measures for this fight. I'm just going to guess that's what you mean." He'd say with a shrug. "And of course. I never aim to kill the people I fight. After all if I want to rule the world some day, I'd rather a world of strong fighters that can come to my side than crippled or deceased potential."
And then he started to get into a stance, yet his stance was very lackluster. Maybe that was him holding back, maybe he just wasn't one for stances and the like. Regardless both fists were lazily held in front of his face with his feet basically still touching. It looked really weird, and in truth he felt even weirder doing that. He was seriously trying to figure this out, though her request would be effectively accepted in reducing him in about half of what he'd do otherwise. He just looked passed his fist towards her, tilting his head to the side. "I think I'll still go first though, okay? If there's anything wrong with that just let me know. Oh and I've been working out until you arrived so I'm already warmed up. If you want some time to warm up as well you're free to take it." He said, shaking his wrists a bit.
"So, I'm going to send a punch and I'm not going to hit you with it. I just want you to tell me if that's too dangerous or not. If it is I'll try to dial it back some more, but like I said I can't really make myself weaker, I can just do less if that makes sense?" He was really out of his element in this sort of conversation. Regardless it was about time to step into action. Shifting his stance the android could feel the rolling hill shake rumble softly just for a brief moment as he got into a more proper stance. Rolling his shoulders the Namekian was still until he burst into a blast of speed. Moving in such a way that was purely fueled by explosive power, causing him to almost drift as he tried to change direction and move, he'd attempt to quickly close the gap and send a massive punch right behind the Android's head. The force of the punch was amazing, absurd. It was enough to send a normal powerless human cartwheeling for a loooooooooooong time at a very fast speed. Or alternatively enough to shatter every bone in their body, albeit this move wasn't really designed to kill as opposed to just damage it's opponent. After all he was true to his word. Still, being hit by this had enough devastating power to put an end to a fighter if it was harnessed to do so.
It might even be possible that the fists strength was so astounding that it quite literally could overwhelm some readings, after all with more organic opponents it tended to intimidate them so much they became nervous wrecks for the rest of the right. Though in those cases it was quite literally by intention to lower their guard some as they were more worried about getting smashed by that fist as opposed to doing what they did best. At the end of the punch regardless of if it had an adverse effect on the android or not, the Namekian spoke up. "How much of that do you think you can take? Right now I'm thinking I'll just punch half as often, though maybe I can just lightly punch...?" While not aimed at her, he would bring his hands up after jumping back a solid fifteen feet and send out a grouping of very ordinary looking jabs. His arms felt abnormally limp with the lack of force being applied to these punches for show. Though they were ones that anyone could take in excess before they'd be whittled down. Peering over them he'd look to the android and speak up again as his hands came to rest on his hips.
"Now, I ask you to go all out with everything you have. Be creative. If there's anything I don't like it's underhanded tricks, but I understand a fighter is a product of years of mastery or design. If that's what you rely on while it's annoying, I won't disallow you from doing such things. Though I'm actually curious. If you're sort of getting over the prospect of me being someone that's just no good, why would you ask to fight me at less than my full power if you were fighting me for the purposes of stopping me?" He asked, pondering as he tapped his other forearm.
Then he raised a finger. "You like this, don't you? I think I'm right. Though be honest yourself, is it better to have an even battle that you know your opponent is holding back in, or to be defeated in one fell swoop. I'm always willing to teach someone a few things, but you're going to have to let me put out a hundred percent of what I'm capable of. Just well, not on you. Maybe I'd punch the ground or... I don't know. I'd only hit you with something here or there to keep you on your toes and remind you that we're fighting, and you can see how effective I would be if all of those strikes were hitting. So, do anything you need to do and then we'll begin officially."

He wanted to take over the world? Well, that certainly wasn’t helping his case against being the usual ego-maniacal demon that Zero had accumulated data about. Somewhat to his defense, demons were not the only ones able to be tempted by the allure of world domination, but… he was a demon, and he did profess to wanting to take over the world. However, the demon’s statements were even more puzzling based on the simple fact that he did not have an innate desire to destroy. That made him… not inherently evil, right? Kings had to possess some desire to rule, otherwise they could not maintain their position- and not all Kings were bad. Presidents, corporate leaders, anything Zero could reference within her memory banks all seemed to have certain facist, or perhaps even ‘evil’, elements to them, but they still often ended up being a net positive to those they interacted with. Further, if he wanted to encourage strong fighters to join at his side, would that not mean that he would ultimately desire to make a more prosperous society that both afforded care for the defenseless(in case they one day could become strong) while also providing opportunities for the clever or powerful to ascend the ranks? Was what he wanted to do really so different than the way that human society was already built? It was all quite puzzling to Zero and she did concede to herself that she was allowing a lot of room for unknown variables in the hypothesis that she had built. Still… could it be possible that the best weapon humanity had against the demonic horde was a demon himself? It was a truly devious thought, she realized. “ I am not capable of perceiving cold or heat in the same capacity that you do-- it is therefore unnecessary for me to ‘warm up’. In fact, my processing capabilities are increased even more when I am at a lower temperature. I am rather envious of a human’s ability to obtain what you might call a ‘brain freeze’ for this reason,” Zero replied, watching the ‘demon’ prepare his first attack- a test, in a manner of speaking. She carefully observed the energy flowing through his body and how it shifted when he prepared for his initial strike; it was honestly alarming to see any biological entity produce that much power before even a single blow had been delivered. Fortunately, however, he had offered up the opportunity to assess his first blow. When Bass surged forward, Zero was ready. She braced herself momentarily, waiting for the precise last moment before the explosive power gathered within his body reached a peak and lashed out in the form of a potent punch. The android thrust her own fist downward with as much force as she could manage, causing a pocket of air to surge below her and propel her into the air. Her body immediately contorted in place twisting entirely out of the test-punch’s way before it succeeded in parting her head from her body. Admittedly, she could have recovered from such a blow… but it would have taken time and considerable more processing power than she had to spare against an opponent such as this. She remained hovering in the air, just above his fist, thereafter; Zero’s eyes snapped up to lock with Bass’s own. He wanted to know how many of those she could take? The android’s lips pursed beneath her oni mask while she calculated. “ At my current combat parameters, I believe I could survive a maximum of three of those attacks-- and only if I dedicated the overwhelming majority of my construction to defending against them. I must admit that I am grateful that you are, apparently, not a particularly malign subject. It would bode most un-well for my chassis if you were to seek to irreparably damage me,” she nodded twice- but continued assessing the flow of power through his body during their exchange. The ‘demon’ was right about one thing for certain, though-- Zero did enjoy these kinds of exchanges. She was uniquely equipped to recover from many attacks that would render fleshly beings into paste, and her machine-learning protocols drove her to find combatants such as this very one to improve herself… but she did still experience a sensation akin to pain, and it was certainly unpleasant. “ I requested that you restrain yourself out of a desire to prolong the learning experience for both participants. I am confident in your ability to render me inoperable, but I believe it would be of mutual benefit for the ordeal to be exaggerated. That being said, if you are willing to refrain from dealing a deathblow for the purposes of enlightening both of us, I am willing to redact my request for you to hold back. I should be able to recover from anything you deliver that does not shatter my core. That being established… I am ready to begin properly.” wc: 850 twc: 2802 BATTLE TRACKER DEFENSE PHASE

Hm. No matter what kind of punch he threw, she would've dodged that. Was this now clearly android just making all this talk that she was weaker? If she could just fly around to avoid his attacks, perhaps she could do it all of the time. As she answered his questions he chose to rub his chin and mull the prospect of actually getting a hit in. After all, he didn't really know what he just saw specifically. Just that she could evasively fly out of the way of attacks. He'd need to rethink his approach if he actually wanted to get anything done. He could certainly get creative with his intentions. And so while she prepared herself more and took note of analyzing him, he spoke up again. "Alright, well. I think I'm ready. Like I said you don't need to stress about me trying to actually hurt you, if anything I'm just thankful to have the opportunity to fight someone similar, even if you're true to your word and not quite as powerful as me. I introduced myself right? Bass if I didn't. While we fight I want to get your opinions on some things. Anyways, here we go. Watch closely." He said, what he did next wasn't a punch actually. What it was couldn't really be easily described, but metaphorically speaking it was like a massive hammer slamming down on an even more massive anvil. Both of his arms stretched out to either side of his body and began to enlarge. Not his entire body, just localized to the two limbs as the snaked out from him and began to come around. His left hand opened up into a large flat palm while his right remained a giant fist. Coming together at breakneck speeds when both palm and fist collided there was a torrential blast of force that echoed from the impact. It was difficult to determine the effect it would have on a more nimble aerodynamic target, but it was enough to send a larger Giran-Type monster cartwheeling through the air only to slam into a wall and be KOed in a recent martial art tournament Bass recalled. That guy also flew, hence the reuse of the creative idea. Shouting in the wake of the blast he'd ask for her first opinion. "So firstly! I've been thinking for a while now and I'd like a second thought on this. If your creator was someone that you could interpret as unhealthy for the future, or a detriment to order and progress in the world. Would you be able to overcome your bias as a creation or in my case, a child in order to go against them? I have at one point served directly to the beck and call of King Piccolo, while that time is long over I find it a struggle to come to terms with fighting against the man who is my father." Asking that question he fell silent and waited for her retaliation.

And fly, Zero did. The impact of Bass’s strike rattled through every nanite in her body, even going as far as to cause her core to shift uncomfortably within her chest. That was an entirely new sensation to the android- and not one she was particularly keen on repeating. The sheer impact alone was enough to disorient her, but her airborne state caused the girl to tumble backward through the air. Foot flew over head and head over foot as she soared upward; Zero did her best to stabilize herself, but found the force to be a bit too considerable for her to deal with immediately. Instead, she decided to be grateful that she had been hovering when the attack landed, as impacting with the ground or a nearby rock ran a very distinctive possibility of damaging her core’s containment module. That would have been entirely unacceptable. When the inertia from Bass’s strike finally began to wane, Zero righted herself in the air and flew back down to land on the ground some few meters beyond the ‘demon’s’ melee range. She had listened to his questions while returning and took a moment of passivity to give them some serious thought. If Dr. Jun proved to later be a danger to the general well-being of Pine Town or humanity as a whole, would she be able to step in and terminate him? The hypothetical scenario gave her no amount of pleasure to ruminate on, but she eventually came to nod slowly. “ I… would say that I love my creator dearly, but if he were to prove to be a threat to the things I was made to protect, then I would naturally have to intervene. I would perhaps be willing to afford him some mercy that I might not offer others, but only as far as allowing him to explain the purpose behind their actions. If the intentions were good and I did not detect deception, I would likely leave him to the justice system to deal with properly. In your case, I believe it may be prudent to remember that you- we are our own beings. I believe that you have more freedom to ascertain your own purpose than I do, but even still, we are both entities that owe only gratitude to our creators for our creation. Beyond that, if your father stands in opposition to the purpose you have determined to be your own, it is your obligation to rise against him just the same as you would rise against anyone else in the same scenario. I hope this answer was satisfactory, I will resume combat now--” With that monologue being properly dumped, Zero dashed forward and closed the distance between her and the ‘demon’ quickly. She dropped low at the last second, rising to face her eyes toward Bass’s own just before an overwhelming surge of light erupted out from them. If the blue creature did not pull his eyes away in time, he would find himself temporarily blinded by the excessive gout of light. Following that, a swell of energy formed in each of Zero’s hands. She thrust both palms forward and released the accumulated energy, intending to blast her opponent squarely in his chest. wc: 543 twc: 3345 BATTLE TRACKER DEFENSE PHASE

His attack having that much power behind it even surprised him. Shielding his eyes from the sun as he watched the android cartwheel through the air... He'd wait for her to come back into earshot before giving his question. The answer that he received was the only time he had to prepare for the tricks thatS were soon to come. Though those answers themselves were more than preparation, the answer itself had important value. This android's belief was that if King Piccolo was in between him and his goal, that he should be bulldozed. That was very much Bass's style, but this had for a long time been the exception to the rule. King Piccolo could've chosen to make it so Bass never even existed. Even more on that line he could've killed him at literally any point in his life. He likely could kill him right now at his current power level if he really wanted too. Still, just went he was about to ask his next question there was a flash of light. Shielding his eyes much too late, everything was just bright whiteness. Closing his eyes hard shut he loosely held out his hand in front of himself to keep in between the Android and him. It was the least he could do given the circumstances but that wouldn't necessarily make the difference. Just as he started to barely be able to squint instead of having to keep his eyes closed from the throbbing he felt a massive heat followed by a large release of pure energy blasting his chest. A plume of dirt and smoke was kicked up but almost immediately Bass sailed back in the smoke. The pain wasn't as excruciating as he had felt before, but it had a certain sting with it being energy. Still sailing back with his arms and legs waving in the wind in front of him, he'd land on his back and skid across the ground. He would only come to a stop after his speed allowed him to come to a bouncing roll that finally ended the kick of the attacks sent his way.
Standing up gradually, he still struggled to really see. Double vision was extreme, with all the kicked up dirt and dust and the pulsing stain of that flash of light still tinting his vision a darker color albeit temporarily. It was incredibly difficult to see and even more to orient himself. Though through his pain and disorientation he grumbled out, "Why not just hit me with highbeams and then ram me with a semi... Damn, that stings." Despite his words, it was mostly just for something to ground himself. The injury once the smoke and dirt cleared way from the blast looked to be very superficial. There was definitely damage, a big black blast mark across his chest which had singed skin on the borders of it. Though the man seemed to spread his feet and focus, his aura sharpening and becoming greater. In doing so, his Namekian Physiology was quickly restoring color to the wound in addition to filling in the few actual punctures the force made on his body. He was very durable, but even then the force of the attack had him even in the present moment raising his wrist up to the corner of his face to wipe away a small smidgen of purple blood. Spitting on the ground next to him he looked generally in the direction where he saw the android.
Raising up his right hands finger Bass spoke up again. "Alright, and do your databanks include a more gentle way to say I want to achieve World Domination, because I've come to understand from prior people's reactions that saying that can be laying it on pretty thick. Though that's what King Piccolo called it." He'd say, plugging one nose and blowing out dirt, and then doing the same for the other. He also had a tragically stained office shirt now that had a huge gaping and slightly flaming front to it... This shirt was irreparably ruined.
Letting out a sad sigh, he peeled it off with a pinch of his index and thumb only to drop it at his right side. Bare-chested and well-tested, the Namekian was ready for the next volley.

Zero was quite disappointed to learn that her attack’s effects had been… minimal, at best- and what damage she did actually manage to score across the ‘demon’s’ chest was quickly regenerated. His body seemed to recover from injuries even faster than her own did, which was a small miracle for anything biological. Not wanting to risk immediate retaliation while drowning in some artificial form of self-pity, the android flung herself backwards several meters and took up a defensive position with both arms crossed in front of her torso. Rather than retaliate, the frighteningly powerful creature powered up further and posited an interesting question to Zero. How could he phrase his desire in such a way that would not alarm those with more delicate sensibilities? “ I believe that it may be against my best interests to facilitate your request given the end result of your desire, but… you have refrained from destroying me when you are clearly capable of doing so. Therefore, I conclude that I am at least indebted to you enough to help in that small way. Begin by not utilizing aggressive nomenclature such as “domination”, “rule”, or “conquer”. You would instead use lexicon with more prosperous potential. Rather than “world domination”, consider it instead “world unification”. No living being wishes to be dominated in this capacity, save perhaps for that most curious subspecies: the Gimps, but many do desire a more unified Earth. Similarly, you would not want to suggest that you would “rule” people, but rather utilize terminoloy such as “lead”. In the eyes of most common citizens, a ruler demands where a leader requests. Biological entities are more likely to behave in a way that you find acceptable if they are made to believe that the aforementioned behavior was their own idea. If you steal sovereignty from them, humanity will rebel. That is why it is preferable that they would offer their citizenship willingly,” she finished with a nod, somewhat grateful for the long-winded explanation, given that it provided her nanites sufficient time to begin replenishing themselves. “ Now, please allow me to practice what you have demonstrated--” Zero offered up the warning only briefly before charging forward again, this time with enough energy coursing through her body to become visible to the naked eye as a pseudo-fiery aura around her. She surged upward at the last moment and brought her hands together above Bass’s head, whereupon the nanites comprising her hands replicated rapidly. Her hands grew until they almost literally appeared to be a hammer, whereupon she brought them both rapidly downward, intending to clobber the ‘demon’ into the ground below. wc: 451 twc: 3796 BATTLE TRACKER DEFENSE PHASE

Still rubbing at his eyes from the solar flare, all he could really do was unintentionally buy time for himself to recover. Though even then the time it took for the android to give him an answer wasn't nearly enough to recover from the blinding glare of an artificial sun. Though the insight shared was simple, yet things he had never considered due to a hyper-condensed childhood of being taught by someone who wanted World Domination. World Unification and Leadership. That sounded to Bass as if it was overly valiant. Was what he found himself doing actually decent? I suppose he wasn't hurting anyone, and he just wanted Earth to be more formidable so that it could crush any that dared try to destroy it from within.
However the talking had stopped and the action was starting. This time she would be using his own technique against him. Though it was more of a display of brute force than anything, technical finesse wasn't necessarily part of the equation. Seeing multiple shapes and forms surging forward in triple vision at this point he only knew that she lifted up in the air. It didn't help that the sun was literally behind her at that point so he got double solar flared for free. Then it got dark really fast as she seemed to grow larger. He didn't know what or where but he could only assume it was her fists. Bringing his arms up towards one of the blurs he merely blocked the strike made by air itself. Wind would not reach him on this day. What he didn't block was a smash so powerful that in under a second he went from standing upright to making a Bass shaped cut-out on the hill after being slammed straight forward face first into the dirt. Several feet deep, he had only stopped when he hit rock and even then there was a crack that rippled through the hill below that it'd remember for eternity. With some rumbling eventually the shaking came to a stop and things quieted down. The Namekian seemed all but silent, either unimpressed with himself for having that hit him, impressed with her ability to rapidly adopt new techniques or just biding his time. Though even if he wanted to talk he really couldn't without it just sounding like muttered garble beneath the android. Slowly beginning to peel himself out the dirt lifted into a smaller hill atop the hill, it was only once he righted himself that the uplifted chunks of grassy dirt would fall back into place save for the Bass shaped cutout that would forever be imprinted into the hill. Of course, time would heal it over to be as sharp around the edges, but the general indentation would always remain to be remembered unless someone deliberately filled it in. Dirt fell from his face and poured from his clothing and overall he looked a little unhappy with how that went; understandably so. Though looking towards the android there was a flash of excitement on his features. "If you learn the things you see that fast, you should've just told me!" He'd mention, clapping his hands together. Even that sent painful aches throughout his bruised up body. "We can save time and I'll just show you everything I can do." "Right now." There was a small smile over his features as he hopped from the crater. Brushing his suit up he'd suck in some air and straighten his back. Spreading his feet apart he focused. The energy around his body began to spike more, getting to peak levels of absurd quantities. Ki vented from his form in such levels that it was almost nakedly visible to the eye in white shimmers that danced around his form. His body bulked up even further with the increased power he was harnessing from his own Ki levels, not to mention having taken the opportunity to replenish his Ki stores as well.
In all of this he even heightened his senses. His ears and nose made up partially for his blindness. It looked like his intention was to put an end to this and share the android everything he was capable of in one true display of might.

The android did not necessarily expect her opponent to hold back, but neither did she expect to see such a large flare of power erupting from his core. Not only was it enough to flag several warnings within her defensive protocols, but the power he produced was substantial enough to be detectable by her eyes alone. She was impressed, truly- and it sounded as though Bass were similarly impressed with, at the very least, Zero’s ability to learn quickly. When he again launched his apparent signature technique, twice this time, Zero found herself struggling to properly adjust for his increased flow of power. She was able to again launch herself into the air to avoid the first strike, but the ‘demon’ was evidently waiting for that and was already bringing his second blow down upon her. Unable to evade entirely in time, the android was left with no choice but to summon forth her own reserves of energy to encase herself in a protective shell of energy. Bass’s strike connected with her shield and caused the bubble to visibly shimmer, straining under its pressure. A spiderweb of cracks spilled out from the point of impact, quickly racing across the entirety of the sphere to severely weaken its structural integrity. Only a moment later, the energy shield shattered and crumbled into nothingness, leaving the immobile Zero entirely unprotected against the remainder of Bass’s force. She was struck hard enough to again be sent spiraling head over heel, though this time she was unfortunate enough to be close enough to the ground to crash through the dirt intermittently- as if she were a stone cast across a still lake’s surface. When she at last came to a halt, some twenty meters away, Zero was face down in the dirt… with the joints in her arms thoroughly shattered and an entire leg missing- that appendage was instead quite a distance off to her right. She weakly summoned enough strength to push herself onto her back, then simply stared at the sky above. “ You win!” Zero called out from her resting point, “ Learning quickly does not account for the raw differences in our strength, apparently. I do hope you can be trusted to maintain your word, as it will take me some time to fully repair myself. I believe the correct response is actually, ‘Good game, chap!’” Defeat or not, it was a rather enlightening experience, to say nothing for how much Zero actually enjoyed it on a more personal level. wc: 433 twc: 4229 ooc: Bass Wins this spar!

This android was seriously strong. His first attack was dodged, and rightfully so considering he was also working with double vision. Slowly his sight was coming back to him, but more importantly this android was just getting stronger. In the span of their battle their capabilities had increased and they had adopted his own ability. Perhaps not backed with the same might he could utilize it with, but in time he imagined that too could change. His second strike looked like it would connect, at least with the blurry shape in front of him. Though instead of connecting against what felt like an android he connected with a barrier if only for a moment. Feeling it gave way he let out a roar of effort as his fist pushed through and connected.
Moments later and the battle was won. ONI had been defeated and was beginning to recover. As she spoke, Bass simply nodded and responded while walking towards the leg that had been flung off to the side. He imagined she'd be in a bit more of a panic of this was irreparable damage. So he only figured she could reattach the lost limb or develop a new one. "Going against my word would be going against everything I stand for. I don't do tricks, of the spoken kind or technical kind. I believe true power comes from not trying to take shortcuts." Leaning down, he picked up the leg and turned towards ONI to begin approaching.
"I'll say this much. You just hit me the hardest I've been hit in my life. From one fighter to another, you can understand how that is almost satisfying in hindsight. The knowledge that you still retain competition amidst those that are behind you. It's the rising fire below that forces me to keep pressing on, and I appreciate that. If you need me to take you somewhere to get fixed up I can. Otherwise I'll return this to you, and be on my way." Leaning down next to ONI, he generally aligned the leg with the socket but otherwise it'd be on her to perform whatever nanotechnological wonders she was capable of performing.
"I'll take the answers you gave me to heart. I too see the merit in being able to believe you're making your own choices and that you are not simply a sheep. To have an identity in a world where you can get all too easily wrapped in a day's work and forget that you're someone and not something, a person and not a tool. I understand the irony given you're an android here, but yes. I consider you a person as much as anybody else. The answers you gave certainly did have a nicer ring to it. The option for people to follow only puts more pressure on my shoulders to give something that they want to follow. That is what will ensure I do this right if my own willpower is not enough."
Nodding, he stood up and reacted based off the needs of the android. If she needed to be transported to a repair facility he'd offer even if declined to help with that. If she repaired herself right then and there he'd offer a hand to help her up and if nothing else he would just speak his final words before departing.
"One way or another, I want us to meet again some day, and I want to see where the knowledge you have taken from me has gotten you. You are someone I would like to have by my side when the day comes that fighters are needed. Best of luck in the future, but I expect you're better than to rely on luck." Walking over towards a tree, he tugged it out of the ground and with his other hand shaved off all the branches, leaves and roots to leave one bark peeled log that tapered off into a point.
Aiming it up into the air he'd narrow one eye and aim for the nearest settlements vicinity to return too. Hurling the log at breakneck speeds he burst from the ground and caught up to it in the air. With both feet landing firmly upon it he'd begin to surf the skies, off to whatever adventure lied next on the horizon.
