Walrus hunting was always a routine errand. They weren’t the only creatures Kousetsu Village specialized in cooking, but their meat lasted the longest. Their fat was used for oil and their tusks used for tools and weapons. The skin also made for some fancy clothing. Walruses were in high demand and Grisha was often the one to go hunting for them. Except now after meeting another being similar to himself, he didn’t have to hunt Walruses alone. Barlei had promised to help him find a planet-sized walrus, and they had been scouting the beach for one all morning. Grisha had been sitting on top of the fattest one that had been too heavy to run away. It could have been one of the dominant bulls in the pack, and while it was a good catch for the village, Grisha knew that it wouldn’t be enough food to go around—mainly for him. The giant had his hands posted behind him, while he sat on the beast sulking. He had always wanted to catch a few walruses for himself, but he always felt too shy to ask Lena to cook them for him. The village was always hungry and in need of supplies. If he ate the walruses, then a family somewhere would go hungry. Instead, he ate what was left over for him and Lena’s family. It was enough for the humans, but it never seemed like enough for a Saiyan. The walrus was lying on its side with “Xs” in its eyes. It was larger than Grisha with its thick tusks and tiny flippers. Grisha was frowning down at the sand. He was convinced that a planet-sized walrus didn’t exist. While he loved Lena’s cooking, he always wished he could eat more of it. He didn’t bother to share his thoughts with Barlei because they seemed too personal, and he could have just been the abnormal one (as usual). Grisha always knew he was different. He was the only one in his village with a tail. He was taller than the other villagers and things that were too heavy for the humans were light to him. He was always asked to lift and move heavy things for people. Hunting walruses and other giant prey on the island were things the village always counted on him to do because he brought home the most meat. In that moment, Grisha wasn’t accustomed to the feeling, but what he was experiencing was stress. A strange scent passed beneath his nose then. It hadn’t been the ocean, the salty air, the beach, Barlei, or walrus…Grisha’s nostrils wiggled some and his grey eyes rose in the smell’s direction to see an odd reddish-orange creature. The creature stood upright like a human, and its body was fit with muscle. About his neck and waist was a white apron, and covering his legs were blue jeans. White horns protruded from a blond mane of hair. The man resembled a bull or was it a bull that resembled a man? The bull was Nicku Toro, one of the Toro brothers. He had been walking along the beach, collecting drift wood for what could have been a fire. He reached down and paused as his instincts picked up a predator. He looked up from the stick he was about to pick up and glanced at the two Saiyans who were hanging around a walrus. Were these the locals on the island? Nicku grasped the stick and stood, waving it around above his head in a friendly wave. “Hey there!” he greeted. They were the first beings he’s encountered. “Are you guys hungry?” A menacing grin, dripping with saliva, expanded on Grisha’s face. He knew that smell. It had stirred a memory. Mr. Flurry had brought them cup ramen one day from the mainland, and it had been the first time Grisha had ever tasted cow even though the pieces of beef in the soup had been miniscule. Grisha had always hoped to encounter beef again, and now he knew where it came from. There it was standing before him. Grisha pushed off his hands and dropped down from atop of the large walrus to the beach. He started for the Toro. The bull lowered the stick. His tail started to flick and ears twitch as he felt his nerves beginning to rise. Why was the big one looking at him like that? He had seen that look before…usually customers gave his dishes that look but this guy…The Toro’s eyes grew in size as he connected the dots. “Woah there buddy,” Nicku said nervously. “I can see that you’re hungry, but I’m not what you’re looking for.” It didn’t seem to be working. Nicku began to wonder if they even spoke common tongue. His journey brought him to a random island, and they could have been an indigenous tribe that ate…Beastmen! “Shit!” Nicku cursed as he started to run. He bolted across the snow with eyes shrunk in panic as Grisha lunged into pursuit. Oh shit; oh shit; oh shit; I’ve gone and done it now! Tori and Buta warned me about going to unknown places! Nicku thought. He peered over his shoulder and saw the giant was closing in. “YAAAH!” Nicku cast aside the bundle of drift wood and rapidly swung his arms to pick up speed. “Please! Leave me alone!” he shrieked. The snow was erupting in waves to Grisha’s left and right, splitting like an ocean as the Saiyan gave unrelenting pursuit. When Grisha was close enough to the bull, he pounced and locked his strong arms about the creature’s waist. Nicku gasped as he flew forward to land face-down in the snow. He quickly started clawing at the icy ground and wiggling his hips to try and free them. “HELP! SOMEBODY!” Nicku screamed. Grisha reached his right hand out to snag the bull’s right arm. He jerked it back to send him face down into the snow. His left hand snagged his left horn, tilting and forcing his head down as he pinned him. Nicku started crying as he took notice of his position. It was absolutely lewd and humiliating. His ass was up against Grisha’s lap, and all he could do was claw at the snowy earth with his free hand. Maybe this guy liked Beastmen too much? “Please don’t! No, please!” Nicku begged. He tensed when he felt Grisha sniffing at the back of his neck as though confirming his scent. Yes; the smell of beef was strong on this one. Grisha’s jaws parted and his pink tongue dipped out to drag between Nicku’s shoulders to the back of his neck to assess if he had tasted the same. Nicku shuddered uncontrollably in disgust and horror, and if it wasn’t for his fur, his cheeks would have been glowing brightly red. He screamed to the heavens, “AAAAAAAHMMMMMMMRRRRRROOOOOOOOOO!” WC: 1,143 Tagging: @null

He meant to wander this unfamiliar world and lose himself within its depths. No one would care about an old soldier fighting a war that no longer existed. He would disappear, swallowed whole, and time would continue forward to its inevitable end. A morose outlook, but what other way could he view it? This wasn't his world. It wasn't his life. Until he arrived in Kousetsu Village.
It was a good day for a hunt. The sun shone brightly overhead, providing a counterbalance of warmth against the chill in the air. Cold, wet slush squished between the toes of his bare feet. A gentle breeze off the ocean carried with it the briny hint of the wide open sea. He closed his eyes and inhaled deep, a sense of calm settling into his being. When was the last time he felt this mellow? For once he wasn't plagued with thoughts of war and death. For once he didn't feel the crushing guilt of his fallen brothers settled onto him like an unshakable blood guilt. Today—if only for today—he could be free. They couldn't sit on the beach all day though—the townsfolk expected them back before lunch. It took a while to prepare walrus meat, and considering the juggernaut of a haul they caught today, the sooner they returned, the better. "We should probably get back—the hell!?" Barlei threw up his hands, head turned against the sudden spray of icy sand left in the wake of Grisha's sudden departure. "Geez, a little warning next time."He spotted the muscular beast man hightailing it up the coast with Grisha hot on his heels. Did the big guy not realize that was a person, and not another meal? Uh-oh. "I should probably... uh... yeah..." He took off running after the duo. He caught up to them just in time: Grisha, having pounced on his prey, now looked prepared to devour the bullish man whole. The beastman, on the other hand, seemed rightly distraught about the predicament. "Okay... this is weird as hell." Barlei coughed, embarrassed, looking away. "Hey, big guy? Let the bull go. He's not food, I can tell ya that much."

Grisha had just finished licking Nicku when he looked down at the hair that covered his tongue. With his tongue hanging out of his mouth, the giant looked back at Barlei, while the bull trembled beneath him, tears of trauma spilling from his eyes. “Huh?” Grisha uttered before he turned his head to the side and spat the hair from his mouth.
“Not food?” he questioned with a thoughtful tone as he looked down at the bull who started kicking his hooved feet.
“YOU HEARD HIM! LET ME GO! WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO EAT ME ANY WAY? WHO EATS BEASTMEN?”
Grisha felt a little confused, but he listened to Barlei and rose to his feet, releasing the Toro. Nicku clawed and scrambled across the sand away from the two Saiyans. His tail was between his legs, floppy ears folded down, as he stared at the two brutes like a frightened cat. He was shaking—his nerves still trying to calm. He pointed a sharp accusative finger between the two of them.
“I was gonna invite you two to my secret restaurant, but after you tried to eat me, I refuse!” Nicku growled.
Grisha turned his head to spit some more hair from his mouth. His nose turned up at the taste left in his mouth. He whispered to Barlei, “No taste like cow…” He didn’t seem to be paying attention to what Nicku was saying.
“BECAUSE I’M NOT A COW! I’M A BEASTMAN AND A BULL! WE’RE DIFFERENT!”
Nicku stood and stomped over to Grisha and Barlei. He mainly looked at Barlei since he seemed to be the more competent one and pointed up at Grisha. “Tell your dumb friend not to eat people!” the bull declared.
Grisha’s upper lip raised and brows converged as he gave the Toro an ugly and threatening look. He growled lowly as he raised his large hands about the bull’s head. He curled his fingers like claws, his digits audibly popping as he ominously declared, “Grisha no dumb. Cow man loud and dumb. Grisha crush cow man head!”
A sweat drop slipped down the side of the Toro’s head as he quickly stepped back and smiled sheepishly. “Oh wow, you’re pretty strong huh?” I come to this island, and in the first hour, I’ve been nearly eaten and now threatened to have my skull crushed by the locals. What the heck was I thinking to come here?
“Grisha strongest,” he confidently stated.
“You’re pretty big too.”
Grisha turned his cheek to the bull man and crossed his arms before his chest. He tried to hide the fact that he was flattered behind a forced frown as he added, “Grisha biggest!”
Nicku laughed weakly. You’re not bigger than Buta-chan! “Oh…Oh yeah! You two were hunting, weren’t you? Hunting walrus. That was a large walrus too..” They must have a clan or something! I could actually be in business if I feed their whole tribe! Nicku spread his arms as a grin glowed on his face. “Hey, I take back what I said. Why don’t you guys come to my stall? I will let you two try my food and maybe it’ll be enough to feed your families. I promise it’s better than walrus!”
Grisha closed his eyes and grunted. “Lena cooks best.”
Nicku blinked. “Uh…I don’t know who that is…”

This was awkward. Never thought he'd find himself in this position.
It was a miracle Grisha seemed willing to listen to reason and released the terrified beastman. He was angry, rightfully so, but changed his tone soon when his barbed tongue incited an angry growl and treat from the giant Saiyan.
Barlei stepped between the two, holding up a placating hand. Last thing he wanted was a bloodbath on the beach. It would shatter the peaceful nature of this place.
Death and blood seemed to follow everywhere he went. He didn't want to taint this island as well.
The beastman, Nicku, seemed forgiving. It turned out he wanted to invite them to eat at his food stall.
Barlei arched an eyebrow, hands planted on his hips as he weighed the chef's words. It had taken a good deal of the morning to catch a walrus this size, and would take even more time to prepare it and divide it up among the people of Kousetsu Village.
An actual chef would be a major improvement, especially if he knew how to prepare walrus and any other manner of food they dragged out of the sea.
It wasn't a bad idea at all.
"I think he's on to something." He turned and slapped Grisha's shoulder in a friendly gesture. "We've not eaten all morning. I dunno about you but I'm starving. Let's go see what he's got to eat, huh?"
Grisha was a Saiyan, above all. No way he'd turn down the promise of a good dish—indignant or not.
"Alright, bull man. Lead the way. Just know that, if you're lyin' and your food tastes terrible..." Barlei crept forward, shoulders hunched, dark shadows twisting his face in an almost comical manner. "...I'm gonna let Grisha eat you."

The slap to his shoulder startled Grisha. He looked from the bull to his brother who seemed to be in a good mood. They hadn’t eaten—good point. The thought of eating sooner than later after the walrus was prepared did cause an eager pang of hunger to tug at his stomach. But why did they have to eat with the cow? The cow had called him stupid. The giant arched a lip of disgust at the bull and turned to head back to the walrus. “Grisha bring walrus. Lena want Walrus,” he told Barlei.
The walrus would take all morning and noon to prepare. The sooner they got it to the villagers, then the sooner they would be able to eat it. While Grisha went to retrieve the walrus, Nicku blinked when Barlei crept closer to him and threatened to let his big friend eat him. The bull’s lips rolled back to bare a nervous grin.
“Eh-heh-heh; I promise you two won’t ever forget it,” he swore. Two jets of visible steam then left the bull’s nostrils as he curled his arms in a flex. “When it comes to beef, I am THE BEEF MASTER!” His voice strangely seemed to echo.
Prior to following Barlei and Nicku to his stall, Grisha quickly dashed back to the village, dragging behind the massive walrus that bounced, quivered, and flopped over every snow hill in Grisha’s path. The villagers saw the waves of snow parting around Grisha’s rapidly-moving feet. Villagers had to flee out of his way, while children hopped closer to enjoy getting bowled over by the snow. The Saiyan slid to a halt. Ice and rock rolled beneath his moccasin-covered feet. He released the walrus as awe-struck villagers started to gather around it. Grisha marched up to Lena’s home and gave her door a rap with his knuckles.
Lena opened the door, peering up at Grisha in surprise before she saw the behemoth of a walrus just passed him. “Grisha! Oh! Woah; its enormous. The largest we’ve seen. Did you and Barlei catch it?” she asked.
Grisha started jogging in place. “Be back! Bye!”
Lena was stunned by Grisha’s sudden departure. “What? Wait! Grisha!” She then rested her hands upon her hips and glared at the Saiyan’s back as he shrank into the distance. “Grrr!”
What were they up to? Ever since Barlei arrived, he and Grisha were spending an awful lot together. It was starting to become more than what she and her father spent together with him. She had to admit that she was a little jealous…and maybe worried that Barlei would one day take Grisha away from her…but…Lena shook her head and told herself, “Stop being a worry wart.”
Grisha returned to where he had left Barlei and Nicku and was pleased to still see them there. He slid once more to a stop and gave Barlei a thumb up. “Village has walrus!”
Unfortunately, he neglected to go into further detail about how he had rudely dropped it off at Lena’s doorstep as though expecting her to cook it without a “please” and “thank you.” Nicku nodded and waved the two Saiyans along. “All right; this way boys. I hope you have a big appetite because when you eat at Nicku’s place, you either eat big or go home!”
Grisha grinned as he listened to the cow. He always used the word “big,” which was Grisha’s favorite word especially when it came to food. He hoped the cow wasn’t all talk and that he could actually cook.
As they neared the Toro’s food stall, Grisha closed his eyes and inhaled deeply the smell of cooking meat. Drool immediately started to seep from his lips and before he could even taste it, the smell alone was bringing tears to his eyes. He used the back of his fist to wipe them as he whimpered to Barlei, “Meat smell so good!”
Nicku grinned back at the two Saiyans. “Wait until you taste it! I’ve had it slow-cooking for a few hours now. It’ll be so tender and juicy that I can cut it with a spoon.”
With his back turned to the Saiyans, Nicku started dastardly rubbing his hands together. You two won’t make it through the first course, and after, I’ll charge you for whatever you don’t finish. Mwuahahahah! It’ll cost a FORTUNE! Buta; Tori; I told you I was right for choosing this place. These bumpkins are clueless! They’ll be working for me like slaves to make up for the debt. I’ll finally have more hands to help me cook and take my business all over!
There was a great fire in the distance, which explained why Nicku had been collecting kindle for it. Circling the fire on stakes were cuts of beef, glistening like dark bronze and dripping liquid gold bouillon. Each had smelled seasoned and the others marinated in some sort of sauce. Above the meat stakes was an enormous, round, stone slab, which upon it laid the largest cut of steak Grisha had ever seen.
Nicku arrogantly smirked and cast his eyes over his shoulder. He hoped he had the Saiyans’ eyes gleaming. He was certain the bumpkins had never seen such a magnificent show of protein in their lives. “Behold!” Nicku exclaimed, throwing his arms wide in presentation. “What you see is the largest steak on my menu. I call it, the T steak. It is the steak of one of the fiercest predators on the planet. The T-rex. Beneath it are juicy beef filets, waiting to be served in my famed rice bowl.”
Grisha had stars in his eyes. His hands were balled into excited fists that started to shake. “This dream,” he said in disbelief. Lena would have never served so much meat. She had always wanted him to balance his diet with plants. He was in heaven!
Nicku had walked behind the counter of his stall and held his hand out toward the stools for the Saiyans to sit. “Make yourselves comfortable gentlemen, while I prepare you your first sampling of my world-famous GYUDON!”
Grisha raced over and sat his happy butt down on a stool. He couldn’t stop smiling. He couldn’t wait!
“Grisha eat everything!” he exclaimed.
Nicku smirked as he prepared a large bowl for each of the Saiyans. He filled the bowls with about five cups of flavored rice before he added onions, pickled ginger, and three eggs to each bowl. He walked out to grab two of the beef stakes and shaved the beef on top of the bowls. With a sprinkle of black pepper, Nicku turned around to face the Saiyans and set the bowls down before them, each emitting a heavy thud.
“The meat has been marinated in teriyaki. Be careful now, the bowl is extremely hot.”
Nicku removed from beneath the counter two sets of chopsticks for them to use and placed them on the counter.

Steam curled up from the beef bowl set in front of him, dissipating in front of his nose. The rich scent of onions, pickled ginger, and eggs coalesced with the heady fragrance of beef. The bowl was gigantic, filled to its brim with delicious rice.
His heart began to thump in his chest as if he savored the coming battle.
Food went hand in hand with combat. One often fueled the other: a hearty meal after a well-earned victory, or striking out against another tribe for the sake of commandeering their resources. It was a valuable commodity, and having been raised on battle, Barlei knew only the barest minimum required for its preparation—roasted on a spit over a makeshift fire on some alien planet.
This meal would not be spared his scrutiny, and should it pass the Saiyan was certain he would frequent this stall many times to come.
Barlei frowned, picking up the chopsticks.
"No thanks." He chucked them over his shoulder before slamming a fist into his open palm. "I'm gonna demolish this bowl like any proud Saiyan warrior. Watch me Grisha! Not even you can top this, big man!"
He hefted the bowl, chugging it down like a mad man.

Nicku blinked when he watched Barlei pick up the chopsticks and toss them aside. They wouldn’t be necessary. The bull’s brows rose curiously. Grisha watched Barlei punch his open palm and declare how he was going to finish his bowl.
“Hmmm!” Grisha reacted at Barlei’s challenge. The other Saiyan then proceeded to lift his bowl and begin scarfing down his food.
Grisha growled, “RRRR! CHEATER!”
He didn’t even say when to start. Grisha tossed his own chopsticks over his shoulder—not like he knew how to use them anyway—and grasped his bowl. He raised it to his mouth and began dumping mouthfuls of rice, ginger, and beef into it. Every now and then, he would lower it, revealing his swollen, squirrel-like cheeks as he chewed his food and nearly wept at the flavors swirling in his mouth.
“Mmm~!” he moaned, closing his eyes and smiling before he lifted the bowl again.
The bull dramatically fell back against the counter. A hand went to his chest as though he was about to have a heartache. His two customers were eating so quickly. They were almost finished and yet…he felt it had taken him longer to make the bowl than for them to eat it. Not many humans could finish his gyudon bowl.
Grisha dragged his tongue along the inside of the bowl, picking up grains of rice, before he drew it behind a large grin. Holding the empty bowl out to Nicku, the giant demanded, “Okari!”
A second one? Nicku stared at the bowl before he slowly took it. “More? Uh…”
Grisha competitively smirked at Barlei, looking down on him with a slightly raised chin. “Little brother has tiny stomach. Baby stomach. Grisha has large stomach. Grisha eat more.” It sounded like a taunt, and an agreement to Barlei’s challenge.
Nicku was staring between the two. Were they really going to try and out eat each other? I got to do something…they won’t be able to eat everything. I know… the bull mused.
“Oh? A challenge, eh? Why don’t you boys have a drink as well?” Nicku set aside Grisha’s bowl and reached under the counter to remove a white, clay bottle of sake. Nicku poured the two, two sake cups and set it before them. “Give it a try. It’s a little expensive but this one is on the—OH MY GOD WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?”
Nicku had just watched Grisha knock back the shot, make a disgusted face, and spit it out to his left. Grisha’s nose wrinkled and his tongue rolled around in his mouth as he tried to rid it of the awful taste. “Blegh. Nasty!”
Nicku set aside the sake and slapped his hands upon the counter in front of the giant. “DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH THAT COST? YOU CAN’T SPIT IT OUT!”
Grisha registered that the cow was yelling at him, which meant he was angry. The Saiyan didn’t like loud people, and so he leaned forward and asked what was worded politely but from the threatening expression on his face, it sounded dangerous, “No yell at Grisha…okay?”
Nicku stepped back and laughed uncomfortably, “Uh…maybe you would like it with a mixer?”
The bull crouched out of sight to open a mini fridge. He scowled while he looked at his cartons of juice and thought, Of course, the dumb one wouldn’t know how to appreciate fine sake. I can’t believe I wasted a shot on him, and now I’m doing it again!
Nicku stood with a carton of plum juice. He poured the juice into a tumbler, and then poured a shot of sake to mix into it. After stirring it around with a stirring spoon, he placed it before the large Saiyan. “Try this.”
Grisha picked up the glass and stared at it suspiciously. Already the cow had given him something nasty, and he wasn’t sure he trusted him. He sniffed the beverage, and then brought it to his lips to taste it. It tasted sweet and the bitter burn of the alcohol was mild. Grisha’s lips pulled into a pleased smile.
“Mhm! Tasty! Grisha like!”
Nicku sighed in relief. “Great. Now. I guess I’ll prepare you guys…seconds?”

It was a hefty bowl, but what was a single bowl in the face of a hungry Saiyan?
The flavors could be appreciated on a more sophisticated palette, but for a man who ate only to survive, it was but a means to stop the hunger pangs that wracked his stomach. Beside him, Grisha devoured his bowl like a mad man. There was a point when they had ceased to be Saiyans and instead become one collective will with a singular purpose.
To eat this bull out of house and home.
By the time Barlei finished, Grisha had already spat out the expensive sake and was demanded more to eat. Barlei swiped at the jug of sake, pouring himself a cup and downing the liquid fire. The strong alcohol played a perfect counterbalance to the dish, and a loud burp of approval escaped the warrior.
Truly there were no greater delights in this world.
Barlei swiped the back of his hand across his lips, hoisting his bowl into the air beside Grisha's. "Look here, bull man. You promised to feed us the best food we've ever tasted so you better make good on that promise of yours!"
His face became flushed with heat, prompted by the alcohol. He wasn't sure why but he was feeling pretty good.
"More beef and more sake, on the double!"

Nicku was sweating, and it wasn’t solely from the heat of the blazing fire behind him. Barlei was drinking up all of his expensive sake, and he and the dumb one together was cleaning up all of the meat and rice he had for the bowls. After several servings, Nicku had opened his kiln-sized rice cooker and peered within the massive drum at the grains of race left. There weren’t enough grains for him to gather together to even make one bowl. The beef that had been staked around the fire were all gone. All that remained was the colossal dino steak.
I’m ruined, the Toro thought. He wept and threw all of his negative emotions into the rice cooker before he straightened and closed it. Nicku faced the Saiyans. Grisha’s face was flushed from inebriation. How many bottles of sake had they had gone through? He couldn’t remember. He couldn’t even remember how many bowls he ate. When he noticed that he had the cow’s attention, he grasped his empty bowl and held it out to the stunned Toro.
“More! Grisha beat brother!” he demanded. He was still under the belief that Barlei was challenging him to an eat off.
A vein pulsed on the bull’s head as he thought, I wasn’t expecting my trump card to be up so soon. I will not be defeated so easily. These gluttons will remember my name when I leave them unable to take another bite.
Nicku took Grisha’s and Barlei’s bowls and set them on the counter behind him. The large Saiyan frowned, narrowing his eyes at the Toro suspiciously. Nicku puffed out his chest and laughed, “HA HA HA HA HA! I hope you both enjoyed that appetizer because it’s now time for the main course! I hope you saved room in your bellies, but I doubt it. All of that rice and sake probably caused the food in your stomachs to swell. You won’t be able to stomach my final masterpiece. The mighty T-steak! Anyone who is able to finish that steak will receive a year’s worth of free food from me as well as the Legendary Toro map! My map will lead you to secret locations across the Earth. In those locations are my brothers, Tori and Buta Toro, Master Chefs who will challenge your waistband with their divine cooking!”
Grisha slowly blinked. The bull had been talking too quickly and saying too much for his drunk mind to keep up with. His dark grey eyes rolled over to Barlei as he wondered if he understood the bull. “When eat steak?” he asked him.
Nicku instantly fell over, causing a few dishes behind the counter to rattle. He then sprang back to his feet and yelled out of frustration, “WEREN’T YOU LISTENING?”

Nicku seemed shocked that the pair of Saiyans had weathered the "onslaught" of his first course.
Barlei's grin broadened, accentuating his flushed features—courtesy of the sake he'd consumed so far. He always got a kick out of it when people first encountered the voracious appetites of the Saiyan populace.
They could be an insatiable people in all of their appetites: fighting, mating, and especially eating.
The bull man rose to the challenge, informing them of the potential prize they could receive. Free food sounded like a godsend, but it was the bit about a legendary map that piqued his interest. It sounded a bit too good to be true.
Maybe this little detour from their normal day was worth it after all.
Barlei arched an eyebrow at Nicku, though he addressed Grisha who seemed rather confused about the entire ordeal. "Oh, don't you worry, big guy. We're gonna get our hands on that steak, one way or another. Listen though—this business about the map sounds interesting."
He lifted the jug of sake and took a long swig, not bothering with his cup anymore. Barlei lowered it with a satisfying smack of his lips.
"The Legendary Toro Map. Never heard of it. You say it leads to your brothers in some kinda secret location? I dunno... sounds like a trap to me. On the other hand..." He shrugged, passing the sake bottle to Grisha. "What have we got to lose? Bring on the steak! Oh, and just know, if this is a trap..."
His face hardened, eyes turning to steel as leveled his gaze at Nicku.
"I promise you—you'll regret it."

Barlei assured him that they were going to eat the steak despite Nicku confirming it. The bull stood there with his hands on his hips, blowing white jets of steam from his nostrils out of vexation. The Toro’s brows then raised incredulously when the Saiyan tried to call his map baloney. A bull forced another smile as his brows converged on his forehead. “I assure you it’s not a trap. We Toros love it when people try our cooking. We love it even more when customers take on our eating challenges,” Nicku explained.
The bull extended an arm away from the stall. “This way gentlemen to the world’s largest steak.”
Grisha raised the sake pitcher in a cheer, spilling the liquor everywhere as he exclaimed, “STEAK!”
Nicku growled as he bit his tongue. The horse was well beaten beyond death about wasting the sake. At least he didn’t have to give the deviants anymore. If they followed him, he would lead them to the fire behind his stall where the enormous dino steak was sizzling on top of a flat, stone plate.
Grisha marveled the size of it as his lips unzipped into a gluttonous grin. The giant started crossing one arm before his chest. His other arm locked about it, holding it in a stretch as he jokingly said, “Warm up.”
He stretched the other arm and continued to reach and lean to his left and right, stretching his sides. Nicku had returned to the stall to get the two Saiyans some silverware, but then he stopped as he recalled how they didn’t want to use chopsticks for the gyudon bowls. Nicku rolled his eyes. He didn’t expect them to use the silverware either.
“All right, before she gets cold. Dig in already!” Nicku prompted.
Grisha briefly grinned impishly over at Barlei before he approached the steak. He sank his steel like fingers into the meat, watching as the bouillon and a bit of blood welled from the wounds he inflicted in it. Nicku was reminded, “I hope you don’t mind the steak being medium. It might even be medium-rare in some places. It’s a big piece to cook.”
Grisha dragged the steak closer before leaning forward to sink his teeth into it. He closed his eyes as he tasted the char and some salty umami. Turning his head, he ripped a big chunk free and tilted his head back as streams of blood and fat rolled down the strong muscles of his neck. The steak had been easy to chew. It was tender like wagyu, but there was a slight tartness from the dino flavor. The hunk of meat shrank until it was whittled into protein matter that filled Grisha’s cheeks. With an audible gulp, Grisha’s neck swelled and shrank as he swallowed it down. He expelled a breath as though he hadn’t had a chance to breathe during all the chewing, “Aaaah~ umai!”

It was a steak fit for royalty. The giant slab of meat sizzled atop the large stone plate, juices dripping into the cooking fire beneath it. It beckoned and called to him like a phantom across the ages.
Barlei's jaw dropped, a bit of clarity pushing back the alcoholic buzz that overcame him.
They were going to eat that monstrosity? It wasn't possible. It was bigger than Grisha! Grisha had already begun his conquest of the beast, clearly believing he and Barlei were locked in some cosmic struggle between hot-blooded Saiyan warriors. All of this... for free?
Bullshit.
"Have at it, big guy." Barlei waved a hand in defeat, turning to address Nicku with folded arms. "No need to wait and confirm. Trust me when I say he's going to eat that entire thing by himself. So go ahead and fork over the map. Let's really see what 'X' marks."
There was a hint of excitement to his hardened tone. It seemed meeting Grisha afforded him a plethora of unexpected adventures. Time would only tell where this one led. He was happy to discover this world with his new brother.
