With Zukkah venturing along one of the many beaches in the southern islands, he figured it was time to eat and settle in for the day. He didn’t really have a home to call his own, so the saiyan warrior found himself sleeping wherever and whenever he possibly could. He did make a few friends in the past few months, but that didn’t mean he was welcome to live with any of them. As a saiyan warrior, Zukkah planned on becoming one of the strongest and using that power to reform any evil saiyans on Earth.
Once the saiyan gathered up enough wood and placed them in a spiral type of way, he used just a tiny pit of his power, causing his fingertip to glow red, before shooting a small beam of ki into the wood. It burst into flames, causing the young saiyan to smile wide. "Good, now I can focus on getting myself some food.." He muttered to himself, as he walked closer to the ocean until his boots were just barely submerged under the water.
As the water reached up to his thighs, Zukkah used the end of his tail to dip in the ocean. It was an old school trick his father had taught him when he was a mere child, just learning how to walk and talk. With him being out on his own and just learning to survive, it seemed that he was getting the hang of things, especially the fact that he was happy to not talk to anyone and be alone in his thoughts.
Just as Zukk thought he would go without food for the day, something began to nibble on the tip of his tail, so the saiyan quickly yanked his own tail, while the fish latched on. At first, it was a small struggle, but Zukkah quickly manhandled the fish and flung it to the shore of the beach, before shooting a thin ki beam through the head of the giant fish. Zukk knew he was going to be satisfied with what he had caught for a while, so he didn’t worry about catching any more fish for the time being.
The saiyan warrior stepped out of the water and picked up a long stick, then walked up to the fish, and stabbed down through the middle of the creature, while placing it just above the fire to burn right. It was his first meal of the day and hopefully a good one too. He slowly twists the stick, causing the fish to spin above the fire and cooking the meat thoroughly for the saiyan warrior to enjoy.
Once the fish was fully cooked and ready to eat, Zukkah pulled it away from the fire and sat it down on a large leaf to allow the meat to cool down. The shirtless warrior was proud of his catch and hoped that many more would come his way in the future. As for now, he had to wait for the fish to cool down, before the saiyan warrior was able to dig in and enjoy the meal, so he walked up to the fish and took the blade out from the sheath, then sliced up some thin layers of fish, but it seemed to fall apart with each cut of the blade. This was no problem for Zukkah, as he would devour each and every bite.
After it was cooled down, the saiyan grabbed the meat with his bare hands and began to dig in. "After this, I think I deserve to treat myself to a hellish training session." He said to himself with a mouth full of food. As he swallowed the last of the food he had prepared for himself, the sound of bushes from behind him is all the saiyan could hear. He tried to ignore it, but it was bugging him to no end.
Just as Zukk stood from the ground and turned to face the treeline, a dark figure stepped out from the bushes and approached the scarred saiyan warrior. "Long time no see, my fellow comrade." The familiar voice rang out through the darkness, causing Zukk to stop in his tracks. Zukk was a bit confused, but it seemed that he knew this being who walked forward through the night. "L-lottus? You piece of shit, I thought you died in that last attack on our village?" He asked, curious to how the saiyan lived through such a brutal act of war.
Lottus, too was scarred up, even missing a patch of his hair from a recent burn to the face and head. This saiyan was outfitted in traditional saiyan armor, except the plating was a dark green breast and black lining around the green. He smirked at the words coming from a close comrade of his in the past. "No, but I was certainly the last to survive, so it was a good thing you up and left when you did." He replied, while stepping forward to join Zukkah at the campsite.
Zukkah was a bit confused with what he was hearing, but his time here was coming to an end, so he rose to his feet and looked Lottus in the eyes, before asking him a question. "I have been out here all day, why don’t we take this conversation back at my bar?" The fire was still burning brightly, but the waves would eventually take it into the sea, so the saiyan wasn’t worried about any type of forest fires, with the nearest trees too far away to even catch a hot ash.
Lottus grinned wide at what he was hearing because he was rather thirsty, and excited to hear that his old friend owned a bar all to himself. "A bar? All to yourself? No employees?" The questions flooded because it seemed that Lottus was broke and looking for work. This would be his opportunity to get some work and Zeni to possibly help Zukkah out with any other future business’.
The scarred warrior chuckled a bit, before opening his mouth once more. "If you would quit asking me questions, I would show you exactly what I mean." He said to Lottus, before turning and walking across the shore of the beach. Lottus was right beside his old comrade, walking along the beach, making their way back to Zukkah’s bar. Lottus forgot to ask the saiyan what he called this bar, but that would have to wait just a bit longer.
As the two saiyans walked down the small alleyway, there was a bright neon sign that glowed in the night. It said ‘The Tincture Tavern’. Lottus looked to the sign, then watched as his fellow comrade walked in through the back door. "Come in, we have a lot to catch up on." He said, as he held the door open for Lottus to enter. The saiyan nodded to Zukkah and walked inside. It was a small building with no decor, but the aroma of alcohol was enough to get Lottus excited.
With Zukk closing the door behind Lottus, he walked past his friend and made his way behind the bar, grabbing two mugs and two bottles of cold brew. With a twist of the cap, Zukk slid the bottle across the bar to Lottus. He did the same with his own bottle and began to drink it down. Lottus did the same, and both men made the same thirst quenching sound simultaneously. It seemed that these two would mold a bond stronger than most friends, as they will work together from now on.
Lottus placed the bottle on the bar and looked to his old comrade. "So, what was it that made you leave everyone behind?" He couldn’t help but to dig into the main reason he had come to see Zukkah. It was no lie that he was in search of the young saiyan for some time now. He was just worried for Zukkah and his well-being, hoping that he could see things the way his fellow comrade did.
Zukkah looked to Lottus and smiled a bit, drinking from the bottle and holding it in his hand, while his elbow held up his weight. color="480e7e"]I had no faith in our clan. The leader, your uncle.." He paused for a second, pulling the bottle back to his lips. When he was finished, Zukkah looked to Lottus and began once more. color="480e7e"]He may have been strong, but his ideals were far off and he was completely unorganized. I wanted more in my life, I want to live a life on this earth, not on that damn island!" He replied to his best friend, while chugging down the rest of the drink.
Lottus was surprised, but he felt that Zukk was telling him the truth, so he gave the saiyan a nod, and took another swig from the bottle of booze. "You are a man of honor, Zukkah. For that, I will stick by you. You have my respect, man. But I also came here for another reason. My uncle was killed, along with the rest of the clan." He paused for a short time, drinking the rest of the cold liquid. "You parents fled two days before the ambush. They went out in search of their son." He admitted.
Zukkah seemed unphased with what he had heard, just standing up from the bar and grabbing two more bottles from the large cooler, then sitting back down next to Lottus. "And? You expect me to get emotional. My parents did not care if I lived or died, just like any other saiyan I have ever come across. It was not worth sticking around learning to be what? Nothing!" He announced, popping off the cap and chugging down the drink. In the process, Zukk slid the other bottle over to Lottus.
Lottus wasn't going to sit here and argue with his best friend because deep down, he knew that Zukkah was speaking the truth, and wanted to do good for his own well-being. "Hey, man! If I drink anymore, I won't be able to get back to my place." He admitted to Zukkah. Drinking was not his strong suit, so he knew when to cut himself off from the alcohol.
Zukkah finished off the bottle and smiled wide when he looked at his comrade. "You can stay here. There is a spare bedroom upstairs. I haven't opened this place to the public because I don't have any employees. That is where you come in. You'll get paid minimum at first, then work your way up as usual. " He announced to his comrade. There was still a lot these two had to catch up on, but it was time for them to retire for the night, so they could rest up and speak about this new job.
Lottus looked to Zukkah with a smile on his face, but he grabbed the last bottle and twisted it open. "You already got it out, I can't just let it get warm." He said to his comrade before pulling the bottle to his lips once more, drinking down the cold liquid as fast as he could. Zukk just chuckled a bit, standing to his feet, grabbing all the empty bottles and throwing them away. "Shut up and get some rest. Everything you need is in that room." He pointed over to the closed door, then slowly began to walk off toward the steps, which lead to his room.
As he made it to his room, the saiyan was a bit tipsy, so of course he would stumble around a bit. Once he made it to the bed, Zukkah flopped down and just laid there, staring up at the ceiling. Everything seemed to be spinning, but he just kept his eyes open and smiled a bit. He was happy that his friend was able to escape the massacre of his clan and find him after all this time.
