Bryce was satisfied. Satisfied with himself, his surroundings and the people around him. For now he didn't have that many people around him, but he was on the right path, he felt. That Misaki girl, Jade, Zukkah and even Maxine. Koma. He was more happy knowing some than others, but it was definitely a good start!
There wasn't all that much missing from his life right now. Except.. there was one thing he forgot about, and it was sure to bite him in the ass sooner or later.
''I've been told you're the one everyone is after.'' A voice said, as Bryce looked up from his farm and noted a slender man with some kind of big core in his chest that no amount of clothing could hide. So at that point there was no doubt in his mind that this guy was some sort of android.. either that or a pencil sharpener.
But even with all that going through his mind, and getting an internal chuckle from the mandroid, he couldn't help but wonder which one this was. It had been a few months since that Eight and Six guy stopped by his farm so it could very well be someone allied with them to bring a message or something.
''I assume you're here because of Six and Eight?'' Bryce asked as he slowly got up from being seated.
''Why yes, yes I am.'' The man spoke. ''They never told me you were smart!'' He looked Bryce up and down and then crossed his arms over his core. ''Lets see if you can figure out who I am then.''
That.. caught Bryce by surprise. Wasn't that nearly impossible to do while assuming a whole lot of things he was not supposed to? Or was it simple to figure out? Like.. this guy was obviously with Six and Eight, so.. was he Seven? That'd be too easy.. ''Why don't you just tell me?'' He finally asked after taking a few seconds to think it through. ''I'm not psychic.''
''Oh come on, it's easy!'' The other said, telling Bryce in that very sentence that, indeed, it was that easy.
Bryce sighed and finally smiled, though the smiling was involuntary he was quite sure he knew the anser, knew who this guy was. And what else, he knew this guy was not out for blood either because if he was he would have attacked by now. ''Seven.'' He said, not really in the mood to guess, but also being quite sure that was the correct answer. ''Six, Seven and Eight. And if I were to guess by the amount of clowns we have walking around the cities here, I'm going to say Six is afraid of you.''
''Right you are.'' Seven said, arms still over his core as he stifled a chuckle. ''Both accounts. I am number 7 and Six is afraid of me for eating Nine.'' He said, which instantly made Bryce imagine Seven eating a metal heap that used to look like a human. At that he wondered what Seven could get out of that, but that was quickly answered. ''I say I ate him, but that's just for the joke.'' He explained. ''No, Eight and me dismantled him and I absorbed part of his coding into me.'' His arms fell to his sides and he pointed at his core by briefly looking at it. ''It's what that thing is for.''
Bryce then wondered why he didn't do the same to the others and overpower Ten himself, because that was the goal of all of them, wasn't it? Well, that and eventually killing Bryce.
As he thought that he got defensive. ''You're not here to do that to me, are you?''
''Hah.'' Seven let out a snort. ''No I'm not here to harm you.'' He assured Bryce. ''You're the only one of us able to get stronger on your own, so even if I wanted I probably couldn't. Everyone leading up to Ten, probably, but I don't want to get rid of our allies just yet. Besides, our 'king' doesn't want me doing that to anyone aside from you.''
Bryce stepped closer to Seven now that he was told there was no threat present. ''Your.. king? Ten, right? Why don't you just absorb everyone else and kill Ten yourself?'' He asked.
''Wouldn't do much. I mean, I could definitely do that, but the others wouldn't be free, would they?''
The mandroid hummed and nodded slowly. ''One more thing.'' He began to ask. ''What happened to everyone being insane and stuck in a dream? Because that happened to me. And now, suddenly it's gone?''
''It's not gone.'' Seven answered. ''It was never there to begin with.''
And then, he changed the subject suddenly and without warning. ''So I'm here to see if you've made a decision yet. If you're gonna help us or not. Eight and Six are wondering if you thought it through yet.''
''N-no I haven't.'' Bryce said as he switch subjects along with Seven. It had been months, but there had not been too much thinking about that as much as there had been.. reflection. And maybe some friendly fighting here and there. ''I mean, it seems easier to just kill one person than it would be to kill nine of you.''
''Eight. I absorbed Nine, remember?''
''Right right, eight of you.'' The mandroid allowed himself to be corrected. ''Can I get some more time to think this through? In the meantime, feel free to use my farm.''
Seven smiled as he began to turn. ''Yes you can get some more time. In fact, Eight thought you'd need more time. This isn't some decision you can make in a single day.'' He accepted. ''And as for us using your farm.. we'll have to decline. We're already risking ourselves by just visiting the man who is supposed to be our enemy.''
With that, he turned around and didn't leave much room for Bryce to respond. ''Few more months, you'll see one of us when we think it's time.'' There was a brief wave, and then Seven was gone.
