Firstly, it was the weekend. Though not just any weekend, it was the start of his vacation after being promoted to manager of his particular branch office, Momentum Compliance. It was whatever really, a bigger salary and a ton of additional leniency in where he took the branch in order to get a solid profit for the company as a whole. Though secondly it was what Bass liked to call Fight Night. Why? Because it was literally called Fight Night. Earthlings and other races alike have a funny way of managing their innately violent ways. In some fashions there no different than the great prune King Piccolo himself. Just instead of hiding beneath the surface to beat each other up he just seeks to conquer the entire world. Seems reasonable - no, actually. Bass thinks that's fairly reasonable all things considered.
Though it was on this day that he'd keep his own bottling rage and anger at bay from public danger by going to a place to privately release it. An underground fighting ring. Better yet? There's cash rewards for winning this thing. Maybe he actually would have some Zeni left for his vacation after all. Though it was wishful thinking, besides normally there's two kinds of people that fight in these places and they fall at opposite ends of the moral world. Complete assholes that just want the thrill of a bloody fight, and saints that are doing whatever they can to get the Zeni they need for who knows what. Bass knew he was a complete asshole, and that didn't bother him a ton. He was doing it for King Piccolo, it's not like he willingly chose to be a complete asshole. King Piccolo has eyes everywhere, if he's seen chummy chummy with all these Earthlings he's probably going to get some heat from what were once his closest allies and friends. Who knows what Lute and Lyre are doing now with their lives, the two that ditched him when he lost his wings like forever ago.
The entrance itself almost screamed 'avoid this place' to the average person. It deters the right people and attracts the right people, a force of nature in how there was no conscious intent to make this place look sketchy. It just was sketchy, and that all happened within the nature of urban life. Stuffing his hands in his pockets he made his way through the doors of a gated alley leading to a basement hatch. Kicking it with his foot several times, a large bodybuilder looking Earthling pushed it open and squinted upwards to check who'd showed up. Bass wasn't a regular, but he came every once in a while and enough to at least be partly recognized by some of the people here.
Making his way down the steps he went into a musty old basement with a spiralling circular staircase in the corner. That was the entrance to the big leagues and he'd known that by now. Walking down and around and around and around he'd eventually as per usual note the tight walls opening up to a large underground area that spot in the middle gave way to a ring where fighters compete for prize money. It was a big one too, this place has seen some pretty destructive fighters from time to time. Nothing crazy, but decently strong. So it was without saying that they accommodated with their arrangements. Needless to say if an actually powerful fight happened this place could even collapse, but hopefully Bass and Kayle wouldn't bring that to the table today... Maybe they would. Though at the moment he had to settle himself into a fight card. It was organized chaos, with fights being arranged on the spot and held right there. Yet to enter you still had to go up and at least give a pseudonym or alias for yourself.
Walking up to one of the registry goons, he'd give his alias. "Big Smacko." In the most serious tone of voice he could manage. The guy just stared at him before bursting out laughing and writing it down. "That's a good one man! More power to ya. So you'll be fighting against whoever signs up next. Right now we're waiting on our next fighter. Once they're signed up there'll be a couple minutes of betting and then we'll start. As per usual, no rules down here. Try not to kill whoever you're up against is all. Makes things complicated. Though if you do, well... We have ways to handle it."
"Sounds good, I'll just head over to the ring and wait then." Bass said, moving over to and leaning against the edge of the large ring. Patting the mat itself, it was sort of nice to the touch. It seemed a little flimsy though, if anyone hit the floor incredibly hard they might just go through. Though that all depended on what happened. Part of the costs here no doubt went into upkeeping this barebones but spacious fighting ring. At least it was nice to see the assortment of people here. It'd be lying to say nobody took note of the familiar fighter up for another match. Most of his previous matches ended pretty fast. Like... Really fast. He wondered if today would be any different but expected it to just be sending another poor sod through the ring in one fell swoop and release of bottled up rage. That's how it usually went, the problem was is that he wasn't actually making much because his fights were predictable with his flawless record down here.
Maybe tonight would change that. Eyeing the stairs he waited for the one face he knew was here for a fight. Not just a fun spectacle but a fight. Usually he could sense the resolve or nervousness of something that was here to test themselves or get something done as opposed to just throw around Zeni. It was no wonder the people here didn't get mugged at all.

The Saiyan former farm boy was strode through the streets of South City at the invitation of his friend Carlos Alfonso De La Reyes, the man who ran the Taco King Food Truck and Restaurant Chain. While Konja and Jack focused on trying to guide the rest of the former living test subjects of the Tuffle Science Executive, Kayle Pota son of Pota Potaset had a mission. Carlos Alfonso had helped him learn the meaning of what money was along with the Splinter Brothers from Desert Wolf Motorcycles. He knew what Zeni looked like and what it’s use was. He knew that he needed it to peacefully live in this time and place, this strange land called “E-arth” which the Tuffle Science Executive’s interferences in the fates of their life had caused them to be in thanks to their wretched cryostasis experiments and attempts at making Tuffle Super Soldiers.
At the suggestion of Carlos Alfonso after some spare clothes had been given to Tara Taro- Kayle walked through the streets with his obvious battle armor hidden by a long brown coat favored by those who journeyed far. The icy blue eyed Saiyan had fought his way through Fight Night to gain a shot at the championship.
Zeni was the goal, and that was why when Carlos Alfonso whispered about this secret, underground fighting competition with big Zeni rewards, the dark brown haired, icy blue eyed Saiyan could not have resisted if he had tried. With every step through the city and the accompanying sound of his boots skidding against the pavement, the scarred Saiyan prepared his mind and body for the battle which would follow.
Which is why the farm boy that was the young Saiyan’s true self was gone by the time he had arrived at the address which he had been given to compete in this series of battles. In his place came that inner self which had drove him to survive through the Tuffle Science Executive’s experiments and torture, through its battles forced among the Saiyans.
When he got to the basement hatch and kicked it himself, the guard laughed at him and moved to close the door. Kayle shoved his toes in the way and kept the door open.
“Listen, kid, you aren’t ready for this kind of action. Now move your foot before you lose it.” the guard grunted, and held the door up for a second but when Kayle didn’t move his foot, he moved to close the door as promised. Which is why Kayle kicked it off its hinges without so much as moving his foot very much.
“I’m plenty ready, guy. Carlos Alfonso sent me.” the Saiyan practically growled as he said it.
“That motherfucker. He could have just said something when he was delivering the concessions for the matches.” The hulking Earthling said, before shaking his head.
“You can get in, but you’re going to work the door’s repair costs off- win a match or no. That’s like 20,000 Zeni you just cost the boss.” he said, overestimating.
Kayle Pota shrugged his shoulders, making the trench coat he was in move like a cape for a moment as he shifted his body and stepped down the staircase and followed the sounds and smells of the people in silence.
Which is of course why he was pick pocketed ten feet from the sign-up locations. Kayle’s pockets were empty but he felt the presence of someone else’s hand in the his pocket was not unnoticed and Kayle had been robbed before plenty of times. On instinct, he reached out and grabbed the assailant by the throat and raised them up in the air. In front of the whole room he glared at the figure who had done it, and when he noticed it was a scrawny, bookish looking human type Earthling woman with dark brown skin and auburn hair, he put her down.
“You’re lucky I didn’t kill you.” the Saiyan said, before turning to the sign-up table and walking over to it with intention to sign up, and all the emotional force of a hurricane wind crashing against a beach. Without a word he put down the Zeni entry fee, which Carlos Alfonso had loaned him. He let them fill out his information, and when they asked for an alias he did not understand. The pickpocket rushed up to his side, whispering in his ear. “Don’t be dumb, you big brute. You’re strong enough, quick enough to notice that but you don’t know what an Alias is? It’s a name you fight under so they don’t know what your real name is.”
But why would he care if they knew what his real name was? He was silent, as the registry goon tapped their pen on the table and looked expectantly.
The girl leaned in, speaking up. “Just.. What’s your name, dummy?”
“Kayle Pota, son of Pota Potaset, son of Potaset Potase-” before he could even speak she said, “Kayle Pota, son of Pota Potaset.” that’s his name.
“And who are you?”
“His Manager.”
Manager? What was that? The Saiyan former farm boy was not sure what this meant but it certainly was a surprise that someone who had just tried to rob him was now trying help him? Perhaps a manager was just another type of robbing, but he had no idea. Nor did he have a reason not to trust her yet. The dark brown haired Saiyan simply spat in his hands and pushed at his hair to make it stick up a little bit like the warriors of his species typically naturally were gifted with. Beyond looking messy his hair rarely looked spiked up.
It did not work, but in the time that followed the registry began to call them out.
“Next up! Mr. Smacko! And Kayle Pot-” the fiesty little human girl, dressed bookishly as she was, had rushed into the side of the announcer and snatched the microphone. Instantly she changed her entire personality and voice, “Behold! Tonight you’ve got the treat to see the great warrior, Kayle Pota, son of Pota Potaset, son of Potaset Potaset. A warrior from a long ling of warriors, coming from the Dragon Turtle School of Martial Arts here in the South Islands!” a fictional school, but not that Kayle knew that. “This warrior, who spent a year crusading against the demons and Daemon Piccolites, the one and only, Kayle Pota. No other name is needed. You’ll remember this fight.”
From somewhere in the distance the Taco King crew who were here let out, “Yeaaah.” and the girl then hopped up to remove Kayle’s coat. “Don’t fight in this, you’ll ruin it and slow yourself down, big dummy.” she remarked as she did it.
So Kayle Pota, son of Pota Potaset, long in his line of Saiyan super low class peasants, strode into the ring of the South City underground fight club. Who is to say what would come. Find out next time; on DRAGON BALL: BROKEN DESTINY.

There they were. Almost immediately the Demon Clan Namekian spotted that face coming down the stairs that stood out like a sore thumb. In fact, they stuck out like the sorest thumb they've seen since starting to fight here. Average guys came in with grim faces trying to look cool and macho. This kid was different though. For starters his clothes made him look like a weapons peddler, at least in the Namekians eyes. Though furthermore there was a... Aura about him. No, not the passive radiation of actual ki and power. An aura of not belonging. The way he interacted was strange in a way. Confusion at obvious notions, ironically the welcomed Saiyan was a bigger stranger to South City than the Demon Clan Namekian. Backgrounds can play a vital role in the people that end up being forged. Though whatever that history was it brought him in here on this night to fight in a one on one to what could be to the death, but in reality unless one or the other was actually insane wasn't. It was merely the classic tap out, knock out or just pure exhaustion calling for a forfeit. Ring outs were also technically allowed, but those were boring. Unless they were achieved with a grand spectacle.
So when he blatantly watched a chick reach into his pocket and start fishing around, he could only roll his eyes and recognize the fact that he wasn't the only one that could tell this kid didn't really know the City life. Though he didn't really intend to exploit that unlike this girl here. To be frank he felt bad for the kid, but if he started helping him before a fight it'd just be weird. Thankfully he noticed the movement, a sign of his spatial awareness. That wasn't predictability that caught the woman, that was just honed senses and reactions. Looked like he expected her to be lethal even. Well, sometimes they are. Not like he hadn't had a knife pulled on him before, miserable sods that went six feet under that day. Watching him sign up he could only pinch the bridge of his nose and shake his head as his actual name was given. Not by him but by his so called sudden manager. Of course she wanted to claim to be his manager. Because a manager got a cut of the winnings, and for these fights that could be lucrative. A slumdog looking to make it big off the back of some hopeful fighter. He didn't know if it'd be mercy to take this guy out fast to stop her from having her hopes up, or concede to help some poor person not be poor. After all, if he was going to dominate the world he can't have people being broke. Then they're useless, right?
Nonetheless he started to make his way right up and into the ring. In his dress shirt, tie and slacks he'd start to tug at the tie and set it aside over a railing as well as a shirt. People here knew not to steal his stuff. At least the old folks. Underneath that shirt seemed to be some martial clothes as opposed to the dress shirt. A stylish red set of Kai robes donned over him of all things. It contrasted his mighty appearance significantly to say the least. Moving between the ropes he got into one corner of the easily fifty meter diameter arena. This thing was meant to draw out the peak of rare martial artists performance when they rarely did come around; such as now. In fact, the normal fights were almost boring now, a small corner of the arena being sight for some kind of slugfest that was slow and tedious with no motion to be heard of.
Looking towards the Saiyan boy, he had yet to make the connection. They all looked so similar to Earthlings that he just assumed so was he. Though Earthlings shouldn't be underestimated. Butta-boy took him out all those years ago after all. Maybe he'd even be participating in the world martial arts tournament this year again. When Kayle was cleared to approach the ring, he just leaned back in the corner and waited. No doubt exchanging a glance in some capacity, he just patiently minded his own business. The Saiyan climbed into the ring and started to get ready, his 'manager' taking the lead in the situation and enthusiastically announcing him as something incredibly far from what he probably was. Hyped up to get a ton of people to bet on him so she could take home a bigger half. He just looked at Kayle as either he accepted this reality or was oblivious to it. Did he tell him? Sure, why not.
"Hey, kid. Your self-hired 'manager's just in it for her cut of the winnings. Not sure if you need the Zeni or not, but if you do expect half of it if you don't declare she isn't." Bass said, tilting his neck to one side, and then the other. Bets were already being placed, and despite his words they weren't spoken at a volume to cause distress at large. Just a calm informational tidbit towards Kayle and maybe a couple other close ears. The room was quite noisy with the rustling and bustling of miscreants in all walks of life. The bell was just about to ring, and raising his watch up to check the time he'd do so before unclipping it and dropping it on his pile of clothing.
It was time to get this started, and he might as well make a show of it for the people who participated. "Sorry kid. I'm sure you came here to win it big. You should've taken up a sales job. You look like you can amount to something, so I encourage you to surprise me if you can. If not, well. Get stronger and come back some day yeah?" He'd say, before his body started to gain an incredibly feint aura shimmering about it. Just ever so subtle. The more noticeable change however was that he bulked up somewhat. Nostrils flairing, he looked across the arena towards the fighter who would challenge him. Would this kid break his winning spree? Or would he just make for a surprising challenge.
As soon as the buzzer went off to signal the start of the match a terrifying hand came darting from Bass. Literally from him, while not detaching it might look it. Simply an attempt to get an idea of the kids resolve. If he clammed up here it might just be downhill. If he managed to avoid the hit there just might be a challenge here. Well, it wasn't actually going for him. After all having a lightning fast extending arm wasn't exactly fair. So he didn't use it for that. He used it for the pure purposes of intimidation. Mid-air the fist grew in size. It was the fighting equivalent of some kind of screamer, a terrifying sudden fist that quickly recoiled back to where it came from. Bass watched closely to get an idea of the boys reaction.
Only the moments to come will tell.

There was one thing which was true about Kayle Pota, son of Pota Potaset. He was alien, not stupid. A stranger in a strange land, an outsider who might as well have been from another universe, not just another planet, based on how he was learning the very basics of Earthling life. None the less, he had lived the peasant’s life as a child and he knew what someone trying to pull the fur over your eyes meant. The girl was cute by Earthling standards perhaps, but she was definitely far too okay to representing a man who had just put her in a choke hold and held her aloft in the air. Something about how she was acting reminded him of the tax collectors of King Vegeta, and as such he simply smirked to the strange blue Earthling when he said that to him. That confirmed what he suspected, and meant there would be no surprise when this was over. Except for her. “She can certainly try to do such a thing, if she wants. It won’t turn out well for her.” he said simply. There was no implied threat, it was just a simple fact. Kayle had been over-taxed, tricked, and robbed far too many times to make him give up half or even a quarter of his earnings to anyone who he did not know. His people needed it far too much, and as stern as he tried to make himself look, it did not matter. He was ultimately here for them. As he stood there, looking at the crowd he saw the hopeful face of Nalta, the little saiyan girl who had been saved by himself, Jack, and Konja. He saw the rambunctious grin of the balding old man, Fiddar. He still felt the spot the old man had tapped him on the shoulder when he had heard he was going. He remembered the twins, and even the stern expression of Tara of Clan Taro. They were counting on him to help them adapt to this world and to survive in this world before having to become glorified outlaws, bandits, to get what they needed. The dark brown haired Saiyan looked at the antenna possessing man as he prepared, and took his own coat off, folding it up and hanging it on the fence. He didn’t have any protection from someone taking it, but despite that no one moved to mess with it at the moment. Either the call up the mysterious would-be manager had given him was too good, or they simply were intimidated about the way he moved. This wasn’t some psychotic bout of fun for him. This was so business it was like clocking in for his nine-to-five. As his opponent moved aggressively, Kayle did much the same. He rolled his shoulders, cracking his knuckles, and he prepared for the fight at hand. The blue man was large, business like, and felt like he would be a challenge. The son of Pota Potaset had been told by Carlos Alfonso that it was normal for humans to be much weaker than what Kayle and his friends seemed to display themselves as, but he had no idea of how easy or tough this fight would be. Until he felt the looming pressure of this man’s power level, his spiritual energy, after the man had taken off his tie. Despite the distance between them and despite Kayle’s lack of focus on sensing anyone’s power level, he could tell this man was someone to be reckoned with. This would not be a simple “Cake Walk” as the Earthlings say, for the Zeni that he and his people so desperately needed. This would be a down and out fight, there was no guarantee that he could win it, but he was not going to give up on his attempt at doing so either. Indeed, the AI connected to his armor piped in to his earpiece, ‘You should be careful with this one. Don’t let your guard down, and keep doing what you are naturally gifted at. Protect yourself. Endure the pain. He might think you are a mundane Earthman, and you are not. Saiyans have greater physical capabilities than the likes of Tuffles or Earthlings.’ It was then that the Namekian shot out his arm, and the Saiyan stood his ground- doing more than that. He stepped forward when the strike shot out, interested in it. It was surprising to him to see such a thing, and without a word spoken he thought, “What is that he just did? Can Earthlings do that?” and through the channel of synapses to the AI, connected in the neck of the armor to his spine as it was by tiny pinpricks, an answer flowed through back to him. ‘Your opponent seems to be a member of what the Earthlings call Demon Clan, and the Tuffles call Namekians. An alien race, such as your own Saiyan race or the Tuffle race, the Namekians have the ability to extend their limbs and some purported regenerative ability. Dr Aspic made it a priority to capture Namekians and test on them for the TSE after they built up their base on Earth.’ It was too much information, more than he asked for, but the Saiyan did not fault the machine for it. It had been a TSE Administrative AI Assistant before he had pilfered it and used his own skills and that of Jack Aspic’s to connect it to the Advanced Armor of Earthling make that he had discovered in the bunker at Mount Allium. As for now, though, the Saiyan simply flashed a grin to the blue Namekian, a genuine, friendly grin. One which shone and was visible to the entire room, as the former farm boy extended his opposite hand. It was good sportsmanship in a spar to shake hands before a fight, even a Saiyan farm boy knew that- and he assumed or acted as if he assumed that that was what the Namekian had done. Kayle Pota, son of Pota Potaset, long in his line, had been a science experiment, a living test subject for over a decade of his conscious life at the hands of the Tuffle Science Executive. He was not one to be intimidated by a simple act. “It’s nice to meet you as well, Mr. Smacko, was it? Let’s have a great match tonight.” he shouted, before dropping into a defensive stance, his right leg a few inches behind his left. With his torso twisted slightly, his hands both near his chest in the air in front of it, palms flat and not balled into a fist or prepared to grasp anything. His tail flicked in the air expectantly, as if the Saiyan was excited for the fight. Because he was, this was the first time he had been in a real battle since he was a child trying to fight the TSE kidnappers off his homestead. Had he become strong enough to stand a chance to the villains of this world? Or did he have that much further to go? It would be told in the moments to come. A clash of wills was about to begin. His Ki began to push through his body as he powered up. [1212] [2380] Skills and Statistics Fighting: 25 Energy Control: 25 Reflexes: 25 Resilience: 35

Damn, this guy was serious. As his punch sailed passed he could tell the reaction was one of curiosity and not necessarily worry. One eye started to narrow ever so slightly as he got the slightest inkling of a bead on his opponent. It was a stereotype for a reason, Saiyan's have a tendency to love battle and rush headlong instead of letting themselves be intimidated or thwarted by impossible odds. This kid reflected that behaviour. Frankly, it was going to be difficult to use tricks to beat this kid. Oh well, it's not like he really used them anyways. Maybe he tested if his opponents had any courage, but beyond that it really was just a slugfest. Though one of the highest possible calibre. Though then he made an interesting move. One which actually surprised him. He was used to people just y'know, running at him and trying to take him to the ground or something. Never really worked out well for them. Sure, he'd accept the kids outstretched hand.
Recoiling his arm he spoke up, "Right. Sorry about that, hand shakes aren't normal in the pits down here. Most people will try and use every dirty trick to get the win. Glad to see that you're fighting fair and square. You can call me Bass. If one of these goons overhears they know better than to spread the word." He said, extending his hand to take the kids. There was no malicious intent, this was just a fight that was going to happen and that's all there was to it. "Good luck." He said as the started to make distance. The kid started to get into some kind of defensive stance. Why? It was oddly reserved compared to what he expected, and almost made him feel weird being the first one to attack. Should he forfeit the first move and have Kayle get the first shot? No, this kid is expecting an attack. It'd be a bit of a sad move to not at least give him what he was expecting with everything he had. This was a fight that maybe meant more than it seemed. After all, the kid was just that, a kid. Usually those types don't snoop their noses around here. Well, maybe he wasn't technically a kid; he didn't know. Though he sure had a youthful look. A grimy underground fight ring didn't suit him for a backdrop.
So in response to him balling up into his defensive stance Bass raised his hands up ever so slightly. His body began to tense. And in response to noting Kayle using a similar technique as him to draw out more Ki, he'd push himself as far as he could go with that particular ability. The aura intensified around him, now almost looking like a silvery-white mirage that shifted around him. A little more noticeable to the naked eye, it was spectacular in the fact that it literally looked like magic. Though once again his physique bulked a little bit. His eyes narrowed and he gave a nod to Kayle to signify he was making the charge. In a moments notice he darted across the arena leaving dust in his trail, skidding across the mattress tearing up plastic covering the wooden base as he almost drifted right next to the Saiyan. Bringing a single fist back the pure power held behind it was almost terrifying to behold. A coalescing power that was so potent it would probably make most people fall over before it even hit. Though if it did hit those who it connected would find themselves flying and sputtering to recover if they weren't the hardiest of types. Maybe this Saiyan was just that, the hardiest of brats. The first flew forward, attempting to make contact on his opponents stomach. He hoped to just blow right through the defensive guard with raw power. That was his thing, raw power, no tricks.
Immediately after that strike was done though, he wasted absolutely no time in continuing his assault. "If you liked that, there's more where that came from! You're the first one to take a punch! Pleasure fighting with you kid!" Drifting across the arena and then forward again when he got close he suddenly applied light pressure from his feet to kick himself up into the air. Coming down he aimed to send another massive punch that sucked all the might he had to give into another terrifying blow. Two thunderous crashes let out within a second of each other. These attacks weren't tens of precise pressure point hits or mindful blows to slowly weaken a defense. They were just monstrous jars of force popped open when needed to unleash absolute hell on anyone standing on the other end. As the first flew forward he either aimed to exploit a blown guard if his previous hit connected or tear through it this time around. If this one connected it just might be that hit that literally sends Kayle through the ring and into the concrete below it. Of course, if it did connect like that he could always climb out. Though all of these people wouldn't be climbing out of this place collapsed. Maybe he was getting a little too into it? This should be fine for now. As long as he controlled what he was doing and didn't try to outdo himself. He shouldn't need to right. He figured this kid was strong but not as strong as him for a need to go even further, right?
As his strikes came to a close he stretched both arms out and lowered his stance slightly, ready to receive a counter-attack. He hoped the little brat was still going, because this just might be what Bass needs to kickstart a career of adventuring. A testament to someone who even after all of the time he's been getting stronger, can still stand up to him. Competition's nice, well... Unless they bring dirty tricks into the equation. Maybe Kayle can inspire him to go further if he proves to be just as formidable. Or perhaps he can do that to his opponent. Either way avoiding or not going down after one or both of his hits was absolutely amazing to Bass. Nobody in his life had eaten one let alone two of those punches. Kayle had more than earned the Namekian's respect. There was just a content smile on his face as the fight continued to develop.
The announcers off to the side like all of Bass's fights didn't really know what to say when the motions just happened. Instead almost holding their breath they would shakily give the details as the started to unravel. How Kayle took the hits if they connected. One way or another surprisingly that woman's claims that Kayle was some amazing prodigy might not be so wrong in the eyes of all the people here gathered tonight. You had to be something to stand up to the king of the court in these parts of South City. Kayle found himself against the one and only budding Namekian known while perhaps only to himself as the Monument of Willpower. The man who wakes up at six in the morning for a job starting at nine, going all the way until five at night. Every single day, on top of training and well... TV. TV's nice.
Maybe Kayle's watched TV? Maybe.

When Bass said that most of the time people did not shake hands, the Saiyan’s tail flicked for a moment in the air, near the antenna of the Namekian as they shook hands. The Saiyan former farm boy simply gave a grin, “We aren’t most people around here though, are we?” he said after grinning. Then he went back to his defensive stance, after the hand shake was finished. The dark brown haired Saiyan simply focused on the moment and the actions of his opponent. Even as the others could not see what was going on, he focused and kept his icy blue eyes on the dark blue Namekian. When the first bit of powering up happened, he did not hesitate or let his guard down. He simply kept his stance up until the strikes came. When they came, he shifted his body and took the strikes, with forearm blocks and movements of his own and when they followed up, he went to grab the Namek. As he did that, he would lean forward and begin to throw his knees as if to strike. The Saiyan was not one who was much for words when it came to fights, but every battle he was in would make him more experienced and thus more deadly. “I’ll take that as a compliment, Mister Bass.” the Saiyan said. He wondered if the Namekians were good people like he and his fellow Saiyans, like the Earthlings seemed to be, or bad people like the Tuffle Science Executive was? Only time would tell when it came down to it. [264] [2632] Skills and Statistics Fighting: 25 Energy Control: 25 Reflexes: 25 Resilience: 35

"We are most certainly not." He said, finally having noticed the tail flicking around. That guaranteed this kid was a Saiyan, and if that was the case it truly meant the fight was something else entirely. To test what he was capable of against the peak of fighting. The race that had battle and war rushing through their veins. The opportunity was almost exhilarating to say the least. What a way to start a good vacation! His two strikes seemed to connect and he noticed the kid had a way with almost turning his strikes against him. If he found a clever way to hone that more, he could make it so much more useful. Though true to what he hoped for the kid took both hits like a champ. He blocked both, though in reality Bass knew those punches even hitting a block has to hurt a ton and really tenderize the forearms held between fist and true target. Still, the raw fortitude of the kid in front of him made the Namekian almost look excited about this. Sure, it was just another day in the life of Bass. Though this was a morsel of something nice to be appreciated while it's here. Not often do Saiyan's just stroll around and line up to fight him in like... Fifteen seconds? Though before he knew it the kid was on the offensive and he'd have to adapt if he didn't want to become a figurative yoyo being slung all around the room.
Immediately he'd meet with the boys armlock in a clashing feat of power. A wave of light force erupted between the two like a gust of wind cascading over the arena and out into the crowd. Not enough to really push people over, at least yet. Though as Kayle started to do his magic with the mighty grip he had, Bass's feet would start to leave the ground. "Woaaah woaaah! I'm not designed to anymore!" He'd say, before with a strong exertion of force pushing himself to the ground. "Though I'm sure you can manage a small hop and a jump, let's see how much you can take!" He shouted, though before he got that in a small strike was sent flying out to him. Raising a hand up he caught it with his fist. It's not like that's really a block, and his hand which be a little shaky after the fight from stopping that kind of force in such a way. Though it was necessary for what he intended to do next. As his palm hopefully wrapped around Kayles fist he attempted to use it to quite literally yank Kayle overhead and slam him into the mat on the other side of him. Another explosive move displaying Bass's raw might, though that was about his greatest and only real advantage. He wasn't absurdly fast relative to the two of them here, it was just pure monstrous strength that managed to get him wherever he needed to go in his life.
Regardless of if Kayle actually slammed into the matt, Bass was already on the move. He could at least attempt to evade the kids guard as opposed to just trying to slam through it. He blocked the first hits incredibly well, which again was just a spectacle to behold. The might to send out these explosive hits were impressive, but defending against them was equally so. Dashing across the mat he tore up more of the thin plastic cover on the wooden boards. It really was a shabby arena but you made do with what the world offered. Barrelling forward he'd skirt around Kayle and come full circle, in the split second he was behind the Saiyan he'd begun to prepare his Crush attack. His left arm almost doubling in size in a pseudo-giant form. As he came full circle he'd attempt to send a massive fist towards Potasen's left side to if it connected hopefully send him hurtling across the mat. The amount of Ki being expended from him was tangible to even those with the faintest ability to sense it. Though it wasn't per say being used inefficiently, it was just the not so secret secret to this hits being so incredibly powerful.
Of course as per expectation and patterns the Namekian would let out another burst of Ki to maintain his Power Level. Though he didn't get stronger really, he just maintained this peak of performance that he'd established in his current state. His powerlevel was rapidly increasing to over eight thousand and dropping under seven thousand with each sway of the battle. Incredibly unstable, probably a matter of inefficiency and lack of technique. Raw might only got one so far after all.
No doubt one way or another Kayle would likely persist through the next two hits through combination of evasion, blocking or just outright taking them like a champ. "You're the first person in years to actually remind me of what a real fight is like. Pull out all the stops if you're holding anything back, Saiyan." Then from a serious tone he went on to add in a more comical one. "I uh actually can't tell. I never uh... Ahaha learned to sense others power." He would say awkwardly, scratching his head in the moments before Kayle would make his next move. "Do you know that? Maybe after you could teach me or something, I dunno." He'd say, letting out a tiny tch and looking to the side. Asking for training from someone he was in a fight with? Pft, that was pretty pathetic to Bass. Though it was probably the smart move if he actually wanted to become a martial artist and not just live to get to the next week for the rest of his life. 9 to 5 was great and all when within the confines of civilization. Though Bass was a shark among minnows, yet he swam with the school of them. A weirdo no doubt.

The strikes and his own ineffectively strikes were not something that Kayle would easily miss. In this friendly, or not so friendly battle of their's for Zeni, there was a series of issues. First, the fact that Kayle was a Saiyan made the former farm boy think he could come into battle without any martial arts techniques beyond the basics and stand a chance. The second, the Namekian thought the fact the boy was tough and a Saiyan meant that they could fight without restrictions or hesitation. Both were assumptions, and both led to the situation where the Saiyan dropped to his knee after a few strikes and coughed up blood as blood also dripped out of his armored gi. There was the sights of those he was failing in this flashing past his eyes, but the faces of so many more Saiyans, both clearly and in the shadows, who he would be failing by allowing himself to die over something as silly as Earthling money. "I forfeit." he said, clearly and to the group. "Next time I come I promise it'll be a better battle, but I apparently came without the technique needed to fight a martial artist such as yourself, Bass-san." the Saiyan might be a peasant, but he understood showing someone honor by using an honorific, and he understood some basics of Earthling culture based on how it eeriely reflected Saiyan or Tuffle cultures. [237] [2612]
Grapple 1 and 2 should have hit, doing 5 and 11 damage respectively. Will get the rest of the math in here momentarily. With your D that is only 5 HP, meanwhile with my Bristling Defenses you should have 4 more damage total.

Ah...
That wasn't what he wanted to happen... Poor kid, damn...
He watched as blood started to form on his opponents Gi, a sign of a wound once closed reopened. The strike itself had no capacity to actually tear someone apart, but it was more than enough to disrupt a wound that needed more time to not be vulnerable. Yet here this kid was fighting in a place he didn't know left or right in for Zeni that he probably needed for something desperate. It came without saying that blood being drawn outside of a simple cough of it was enough to call the fight. If Kayle didn't pull out when he did, Bass would've to protect the kid. He can't rule a world if those who could protect it with him are dead or hurt. With the fight having been won by forfeit from Kayle Pota in favor of self preservation; rightfully so, the match came to a conclusion and the Zeni winnings were handed off in a hurried exchange. It was hard to tell how deep the wound was, but Kayle was a Saiyan. This wasn't some work accident, this was something mean. A stab or well... Perhaps Bass wouldn't think of it but some kind of invasive surgery by Tuffles. When the fight concluded Kayle would just see the Namekian look down for a moment, as if it was actually him that was defeated.
Though still, he reached out for the stack of Zeni that was handed out to him by the announcer. Taking it in his hand he didn't even bother to count it. Walking forward in the moments before Kayle would need to be carted to some sort of medical facility, or left to recover on his own. Bass was pretty sure Kayle could handle it himself, and his stubborn Saiyan genes would have him do just that. Truth be told, he'd do the same; but he was a Namekian, bit of an edge there. Though right now was literally in truth the least about him and the most about Kayle. He didn't know what the fighter had gone through, but to come down here and not be an asshole you really needed to be someone struggling to make things work out. Walking forward the Namekian did not ask. He did not give the Saiyan an opportunity to turn down what he was giving. This wasn't an option, it was a demand and an unspoken promise to help whoever needed that the most. Was Bass really a bad guy? World Domination; sure, sure. Though ruling a heap of chaos and tragedy isn't good for anyone. He quite literally would push by force the Zeni either into the Saiyan's hold or into his Gi. It really didn't matter where. If the kid decided to drop it, that was on him. That cash would instead go to people picking the ring moments after. Though Bass wasn't taking it. It wasn't earned even, winning by some technicality like that.
As he prepared to leave the ring and turned around, Bass turned his head partly back, looking partway towards Kayle.
"Kid. Don't push yourself harder than your body can handle. Your body is a shrine, pray to it every day. Don't abuse it. Find me again some day." Was the simple words he had before making his way to step out of the ropes. It went without saying that the crowd was in silence. With no proper trained doctors and medical practitioners on site it wasn't like people were rushing to his aid. Some people called out that he should go to the nearby clinic but most just stayed silent and moved on from the fight, disappointing at how short the amazing spectacle lasted. A series of murmurs until ten minutes later that same underground ring would be empty, not a sound save for the wind blowing the basement hatch on the upper floor echoing through the vacant space.
Walking from the fight, Bass couldn't help but reflect on it. The people that are willing to go so far to tear themselves apart. One could say his own fighting had repercussions on his body, but he only took those risks because he knew he could manage the consequences. He knew his body could take it. Though someone striving so hard that even when they're dealt a bad hand, plays them anyways is someone admirable to put it modestly. Whoever Kayle Pota is, he'll be something amazing in the years to come. Though maybe that was just Bass being too paternal, a habit he often had with the people he came to respect... However few and far in between those people were.
Bringing an index finger up to his eye, he brushed his irritated eyelid ever so slightly, a drop hitting the ground next to him. Taking a deep breath and closing his eyes he'd slam his fists together, flaring his nostrils and getting back into his natural head space. Reality has a funny way with throwing defining moments in people's way. While he spouted the nonsense of dominating the world, killing King Piccolo to do so and just... Being evil. Was it really him? From his actions, it would be difficult to see it that way. He had a bit too much empathy for his own good, and when you were aware of the hurt that pain causes onto others, it has a habit of making you hurt too. That described the pain Bass felt in his chest quite often, a tightness when he saw others that struggled to get by. Ruling a world isn't a the end of a journey, it could perhaps be the beginning of something entirely new.
Where struggles and pain were heard.
Yet, Bass would be off for now. Mentally reset and ready for the next day. The morning would come quick, and he'd have quite the vacation planned out starting with a nice little trip to the locale burrito shop.
Though he hoped Kayle Pota, son of Pota Potaset, which was the son of Potaset Potaset would keep a good head on his shoulders and have the best, most generous of journeys.
