Shrieking, monkey-like laughter echoed through the castle at the center of Pilaf Land. A hairy boy in a martial arts gi rushed through the crowded hallway. He headed for the nearest window, hopping deftly over the displays. Behind him ran a pale and frail girl, wheezing desperately for air. Exercise was like poison to someone who had not worked a day in her life. She was forced to give up the chase barely after thirty feet... As for why she bothered to chase in the first place... Well, she may have gotten a little heated when that small ape had dared to disrespect her... By stealing her left shoe! However, the witch always had plenty of tricks up her sleeve. If she couldn’t catch the culprit... She would simply get someone who could. Snatching the wand from her waist, she waved it towards the floor. “From Hell’s heart I summon thee...” A spark appeared at her feet, rapidly burning an infernal symbol on the tiles. “Come forth, rage incarnate, Hellhound!” With a flash of flames a hellish creature appeared before her. It resembled a black dog, a dobermann for those who were familiar with breeds, yet its body was composed of dense smoke. The red eyes glowed like actual embers and the yellow teeth were sharpened brimstone. As it growled, the sound resembled a rumbling furnace. Lilith allowed herself a grim smile as she pointed after the fleeing thief. “Fetch me his soul!” Without hesitation, the monster hound rushed off. Glass shattered as the monkey boy and the dog both crashed through the window. Startled shrieks echoed from outside. Immediately afterwards, the hound leapt back inside. It strutted over to its master and dropped something at her feet... The monkey boy’s shoe, badly chewed. She simply stared. After an awkward pause, her shoulders slumped with a defeated sigh. “...I said soul, not... Tch, never mind, you stupid mutt.” She knew she should’ve commanded it in Infernal instead... But that was terrible for her throat. But what was she going to do now...? Words: 342 | 4000 Natural PL at start: 6,740 Tags: Ty Beruto

Tiger Lily was surprised that Lilith was raised to speak that way, she wondered if there were places like that on earth that was separated by modern society, while she grew up on an isolated island with her parents and was homeschooled she still made trips to South City in the summer to visit her Uncle. It then dawned on her that it was entirely possible that Lilith was a real witch just as Shu was a real ninja who served Emperor Pilaf.
“Well, Emperor Pilaf and the Seven Dragon balls is a children’s story book, most children know of it, and I am surprised that this is your first time learning of it. Well, it is never too late to learn all about his adventures, and the bad monkey boy who kept interfering with his search--” Ocean teal eyes widened as that very monkey boy she was describing tackled the unsuspecting teenage witch and stole her shoe, “Hey! Get back here! You can’t just steal someone’s left shoe!”
The chase began, without properly introducing each other, they needed to stop that brat from hurting anyone else, even the theme park security was chasing after the boy in hover motorcycles, wedging between massive crowds to reach the assailant, and he was quite fast and agile running across the park grounds, he knew all the shortcuts, and cutting corners through food stands, and park benches. In the corner of Ty’s eyes she witnessed the look of defeat Lilith expressed, “Hey, don’t give up, it’s about the principle! No monkey ever stopped Emperor Pilaf from making his wish on the dragon balls, full charge ahead!”
The redhead took flight above the bystander affected tourists and offered her hands at Lilith and Beruto so they could fly together to chase after the thief. While Ty had a dismal childhood upbringing, there was an emotional sense of childhood adventure, and she could not help but to grin widely at the situation in excitement.
“My name is Tiger Lily, and this is Beruto. Let’s catch ourselves a monkey!”
It was the ultimate adventure in Pilaf Land, to chase the antagonist of the fairytail, and she knew there was something extra in it from Pilaf Corp if they caught the mischievous monkey. The teenage girl had amassed quite a collection of Pilaf merchandise since she first arrived at the theme park.

Well, we're here... we may as well check it out.
That was what was in his head. It was just a matter of convenience. It would be silly not to go, right? It wasn't that, when he was a child, enduring grueling training in an isolated oasis in the desert, that the Pilaf family of animated films had been one of his greatest solaces and joys. Or that, even now, when he was sick, "The Adventures of Mr. Satan" was his go to feel good series.
Nope. Merely a matter of convenience.
That air of nonchalance lasted about as long as it took Kiryu Miyazawa, one of the most powerful actual magicians in the world, to walk through the front gate of Pilafland and look for all the world like a kid in a candy store. Everywhere he looked, his childhood was beckoning him, making him grin and hum notes of songs long burned into his memory. Kiryu made sure he was signing up for fast passes for his favorite rides, including "Stellar Battles: Ascension of the Revolution". He wasted little time in purchasing overpriced, fried, somehow delicious theme park food. Over in the distance, the Spruced Saiyans, premium barbershop quartet for Pilafland, were crooning a cappella versions of hits from the old animated Pilaf Studio hits, effortlessly (or so it seemed, after who knows how much rehearsal) weaving their voices together in four part harmony. Kiryu's grin doubled in size and he happily watched and listened, applauding as fervently as anyone else in the crowd when they finished and offered the onlookers grand, sweeping bows.
Kiryu was definitely in the "shopping" area of the park, and he weaved his way through the crowds, heading towards the sections of the park that offered rides and a bit more immersion into classic Pilaf.
That was when he sensed it.
Kiryu's grin turned a bit lopsided. They kept meeting in the oddest places, didn't they? Tiger Lilly's power signature jumped out at Kiryu, her power and, at this point, familiarity separating her from the seething, roiling mass of life energy that was the non ki using majority of parkgoers.
Well, she's a good kid. I should go say hi.
The irony of Kiryu, only a couple of years Tiger Lilly's senior, regarding the girl as a "kid" was lost on the magus. Really, all he could think about at the current moment was gratitude, because he was, more than anything else, a Stellar Battles fanboy, and one of their shops was calling his name but hard.
Have to resist the urge to spend all my money!
Kiryu made his way towards Ty so see what she was doing there.

As much as it disgusted Lilith to agree with a commoner, the red-headed teen brought up an excellent point. The Emperor she knew from stories hadn’t given up and most certainly wouldn’t give up now. “Hmph, I do not need your encouragement, but you are correct.” She glared daggers at the fleeing troublemaker. “This disrespect will not stand, I swear it.” Reluctantly she grabbed the offered hand, not because she needed any assistance, but because running was beneath her. A proper introduction deserved another. “You have the honor of serving Lady Lilith Nevermore. Pray you do not disappoint me.” ...It was the best Tiger Lily would get. At least she didn’t get called a peasant girl this time. With the introductions out of the way, the chase could begin! Though Lilith was pretty much just hanging on for now, she had no intention of remaining idle. With her free hand, she snatched the wand hanging from her belt. “I call forth the wrath of winter...” As she muttered the magic words, there was an unnatural chill in the air. Like opening a freezer. A twinkling snowflake formed between the prongs of the wand. She took aim at the fleeing target. “Hmph, hold it steady. I will turn that fool’s blood to ice...” Unfortunately, the monkey boy was no stranger to fleeing. He skillfully weaved through the crowd, constantly putting lumbering tourists between him and the chasers. Every single time she was about to utter the trigger words, another fat fool got in the way. How irritating. Soon, the thief’s path took them towards another distraction. The monkey boy took a bounce from the roof of a cotton candy stall. Flipping across the air, he slipped through an open window into the House of Mirrors. And the clever little gremlin had the nerve to shut it behind him. “Tch, coward...” Lilith’s annoyed mutter changed to shock when she felt something familiar approaching. Her eyes scanned the crowd... Until she saw him. “S-sir Miyazawa?!” A tinge of red painted her pale cheeks. She glanced up at the flying teenager and started wriggling. “H-hey! Put me down this instant! I cannot let him see me like this!” What would he even say if he saw her in such a shameful situation? Words: 378 | 1562/4000 Natural PL at start: 6,740 Tags: Ty Kiryu

In the commotion to keep up with the thief, Ty used both her hands to hold on to Lilith, leaving Beruto behind in the crowded museum. While they were gaining on the monkey boy by flying over the heads of the tourists, the level of dexterity he had revealed that he knew the park well enough to evade Lilith’s real magic spells, and she was having difficulty aiming with so many people around. A familiar ki signature belonging to Kiryu caught Tiger Lily’s attention, in that same instance the teenage witch flailed about wanting to be returned to the ground, and she was left wondering if something was wrong.
There were so many people in this particular area of the park, there was no clear space on the ground to land on, so Ty pulled Lilith up into a bridal position in her arms then landed on a nearby roof of a gift shop to set her down.
“Ah we lost the monkey thief. A stranger’s ki signature is difficult to focus on compared to a friend.” Ty sighed, she was determined to capture the assailant, but Lilith was struggling with something, and her health was more important than seeking swift justice, “Is something wrong?”
The red head looked for any visible signs of Lilith’s condition and tilted her head finding nothing out of the ordinary apart from being flustered in the face. “Does using your magic wear you down a bit? I think I just felt a friend’s ki signature just now. He also uses magic and can help you restore your magic in no time, trust me. Wait here, I will go get him, try not to strain yourself to avoid further injury.”
In a leap of fate, she landed right in front of Kiryu, it had been a while since they had last seen each other, in that time she was older and taller, just two inches shy of being the same height as the teenage magus. “Kiryu.” She smiled as she tilted her head noticing something was different but then regained focus, “Ah, I am glad you’re here, I need your help. I was just at Emperor Pilaf’s castle and this monkey assaulted my friend who was in her Baba Yaga cosplay and stole her precious left shoe. We tried to catch him but I think she is injured, I can heal, but I didn’t notice any wounds so I think her issue is magic related so it’s a good thing you’re here. Near perfect timing actually.”
The crowds were getting overwhelming again, despite the park being as large as the entire southern island archipelago it was over populated with tourists. Ty took flight again to avoid getting bumped into.

Kiryu smiled and waved as he saw Tiger Lily descend towards him... and then be blinked. His smile twisted a bit, not in disappointment, but a bit wry and bemused; he had forgotten that from time to time the young woman could make it just a tad difficult to work in a word edgewise. Truthfully, Kiryu didn't mind; it made it easy to have a conversation when he wasn't the one that had to carry it. Aside from Cade, his friends mostly had been a punchy and somewhat uptight monk (though Kiryu was committed to making Zaru crack a smile) and a samurai from, quite literally, a different time. It was reassuring to be around people his own age every now and again.
Baba Yaga cosplay... left shoe?
Shrugging, Kiryu exerted his will and rose into the sky, following Ty.
"Good to see you too, Ty! And, sure, if this friend of yours is feeling a bit off, let's see if I can't help. Lead the way! But, uh... wait. A monkey stole her shoe?
...I've got questions."
Kiryu kept pace with his friend, following her over the crowd to wear she had left her 'friend'... and his jaw just about dropped.
Of all the people in all the world he could have run into at Pilafland, the happiest place in the world, Kiryu would never have guessed he would find the woman that had once tried to kill him.
Lilith Nevermore. Noblewoman. Witch. Seeker of vengeance.
Perhaps, in more subtle ways than he had realized, the single person that had effected Kiryu the most since he had left his home and begun his journey to becoming one of the foremost practitioners of the arcane arts in the world.
Someone he still thought of late at night when he couldn't sleep and mulled over his failures.
Someone he still dearly wanted to save from herself.
None of this would be apparent. Kiryu's eyes widened, but as he landed, he covered further shock and gave himself a moment to regain his composure by performing an elegant bow, left hand over his heart and right arm behind him, elbow bent, fingers pointing behind and palm facing the ground. Kiryu had, in fact, been a peasant when they met. His burgeoning command of mystic might notwithstanding, most of what he had done had been instinctual. He was far more than that now. He was the Archon of Kai's Aegis. He had mastered many spells and expanded his repertoire. He had gathered information from sources hundreds if not thousands of years old, and he knew how to talk to a noble now.
"Hail to your grace, my Lady Nevermore. I did not think to be so lucky as to find you again in such a place as this."
He could have said a million other things. He wanted to. Kiryu wanted to sit her down somewhere quiet. To see if what had happened between them had changed her at all. To see if she had decided to use some of her incredible gifts to help others. Kiryu held himself back, knowing this to be neither the time nor the place.
His words were fine and courtly, his deliverance, practiced; and yet there was a hint of mischief in his eyes and a smile as he looked up from his bow.
"I hope you've been well. You look good, Lilith if you'll forgive my familiarity. But... where ever is your shoe?"

Lilith’s expression went from furious embarrassment to meek shock when she suddenly found herself carried like... like... a b-b-b-bride?! She made the mistake of looking the taller teen in the eyes. The pounding of her heart suddenly felt deafening. Her visage turned beet red in a matter of seconds. “No, that is not what I...” She started to protest, but couldn’t hope to keep up with the energetic helper’s pace. The idea of fetching a friend was met with immediate panic. “Don’t...!” Too late. She could only watch helplessly from her perch as the eager fool went to get the only person she didn’t want to see right now. Just... Lovely... The wicked witch tried to calm her nerves with some deep breaths. She muttered an ancient mantra beneath her breath. Why was she getting all flustered over this...? That girl was only some ignorant country bumpkin, who simply happened to make her feel... safe... for a brief moment. She shook the strange thought out of her head. Tch, how foolish. This was exactly why she hated hayseeds. No social decorum whatsoever. However, all that preparation went down the mental drain when Tiger Lily showed up with Kir- ...Sir Miyazawa. The young noble half-expected some cheeky joke about her unfortunate situation. ...So imagine her surprise when she was actually greeted in a way fitting her lineage. She blinked, nearly stumbling over her words. “Oh, uh... The pleasure is all mine, Sir Miyazawa. It is a welcome surprise to see you again.” Fortunately some things came with a certain level of reflex. She pinched the hems of her robes and returned the greeting with a curtsy. A sense of nostalgia tugged at her heartstrings. Ah, how she had missed this... Persistently the imaginary brush kept painting her cheeks with a rosy shade of red. Trying to hide it behind the cold mask only made it worse. And speaking of cheek... Lilith recoiled at the cheeky comment, trying to hide her bare foot behind her other shoe. “It... was... uh...” Silently she cursed her nerves. Why was she getting tongue-tied like this? She cast a venomous glare at the oh so helpful yokel who brought him here. “Tch, I do not know what Miss Lily told you, but rest assured I need no assistance. Everything is under control.” She lied with practiced ease. “I may have been blindsided by a cowardly thief, but I know where he hides.” Brandishing her wand, she pointed at the house of mirrors next to them. “I shall burn that hideous hiding place to the ground and scatter his ashes to the wind...” If anyone thought she was joking or exaggerating, they might have to re-evaluate as a small flame appeared at the tip of her wand. “I call forth the fury of flames...”Words: 467 | 3062/4000 Natural PL at start: 6,740 Tags: Ty Kiryu

Tiger Lily watched in awe as Kiryu went into a full larping mode addressing Lilith, it was out of character to the point that she did not believe this was the Kiryu she once knew, the cosplaying witch actually responded to his greetings, and she shook her red headed locks in frustration. “Kiryu this is serious. Quit larping right now, Lilith was knocked over to the ground and her shoe was stolen by a monkey boy. Someone else could get hurt if he keeps stealing things from people.”
The six foot tall half saiyan walked over to Lilith with a concerned look on her face, “I thought you were hurt but it seems you’re okay after all. I asked Kiryu over in case it had something to do with your magic.” Ty pouted then smiled to her own resolve, “If we catch him, we can get your missing shoe back, so don’t worry okay? Leave it to us.”
Just as Lilith pointed her wand over to the house of mirrors, Tiger Lily took that as a cue to head over to the building, and took off from the gift shop roof to the entrance completely oblivious that a spell was about to be casted to set the whole thing on fire. Unaware of the danger, the red headed teenager cracked her knuckles and rushed inside to capture the thief barehanded disappearing into the darkness. [234] [3,296]

Kiryu breathed.
That was all. There was no aura flare, no explosion of power, no change in his body language. But his breath was suddenly visible in the noonday sun as the ambient temperature around the three dropped exponentially. "I'm sure that's unnecessary, my lady," Kiryu said smoothly. As quickly as it had dropped, the temperature returned to normal, so quickly one might not even believe it had happened. "After all, why put yourself to such trouble? If I can instead offer you my services, I would be happy to assist you." Kiryu smiled warmly, no hint of a threat or aggression in his face, and indeed, he meant what he said.
"If you will allow me, I would be happy to escort you." Kiryu offered his arm to the diminutive witch; it seemed only polite.
Deep inside, though, Kiryu was having a ball. It wasn't often he knew someone well enough to engage quite like this.
Looking over at Ty, Kiryu quirked an eyebrow.
"This isn't any role play, my friend. Lady Nevermore here is an actual blue blood, and she has fantastic magical knowledge. I learned a lot from her, the first time we met, about the nature of magic and how I could improve my own abilities. I don't think I've properly expressed my gratitude yet... hopefully helping out here will balance the scales a bit!"
With that loaded comment if ever there was one, Kiryu let out a whistle. Padding up to his side, from where she had been left behind in the crowd, was Duchess. Far from her sorry state of appearance when first they had met, Duchess' coat was shiny and silky smooth. She wore a simple black collar, which of course Kiryu had gotten consent from her before putting on the tiger. The crowd parted around her, but not with any fear; they were mostly pointing and awwwing at the magnificent animal. Who was wearing a Pilafland hat and shirt hat Kiryu had bought for her.
What? He hadn't wanted to scare any kids with a tiger walking around.
She crouched next to Kiryu, affectionately nuzzling his hand. Kiryu obligingly scratched Duchess' chin, a smile of pure love lighting his features. "I think the term one would use for her is, 'familiar'. I am not as learned as you, my Lady... could you tell me if I'm right? I do believe, however, that we can set one animal to capture another. If you'll allow Duchess to get your scent, she might be of help."
Assuming Lilith consented, Duchess would sniff her still worn shoe, then stalk off in search of the monkey. Kiryu would follow at a walking pace, and whisper conspiratorially to Lilith. "I have some information that I think you will find quite useful... about a certain item you are seeking. Remind me when our task is done and I'll be happy to share what I know."
Kiryu would then turn a goofy grin to Ty and ask, with all seriousness, "I absolutely need to know... how are the funnel cakes here?"

Lilith had no intention of letting Sir Miyazawa talk her out of this. The pest deserved to be taught a fiery lesson... Thus she actively blocked out his voice. However, just before she could complete casting the spell, her cold composure shattered. Twice actually. The first time happened because of the very strange choice of words from Miss Lily. Larping...? The word wandered aimlessly around her mind, trying to find a place to belong. She wasn’t even sure if that was any common language. Sir Miyazawa’s commentary further shook her concentration. Role... play...? What did that even mean?! Her hand drooped like a floppy noodle that had lost all motivation. The spell fizzled harmlessly. Before the young witch could question any of it, the devious man resorted to the oldest trick in the book... Flattery. Not that she would deny the claims. Briefly she weighed his words, trying to decide if he was just mocking her... Before admitting defeat with a sigh. No, he was too kind and simple-minded to mock anyone. She liked hated that part of him. Her attention was drawn to the tiger strutting through the crowd. Honest awe visited her features before she hastily wiped it away. “Hm, indeed... Felines are popular familiars for their natural intellect and affinity for magic...” She regarded the beast with all the warmth and familiarity of a glacier. Her late aunt would’ve loved the cat, but personally she had never been too fond of them. The hair got everywhere. The conflicted noble clicked her tongue with irritation before allowing the curious beast to... eugh... catch a scent. “Tch, if I must...” As the wizard and his familiar followed after the over-eager girl, the witch was left hesitating. Well, now she couldn’t simply burn the hideous building to the ground... How troublesome... With no other option left, she soon hurried after them.
