Clove felt her ki chakra suddenly blocked as she hovered in the air, losing her ki balance, and fell back on the deck of the ship in a daze. Lamar was quick to react, he was a doctor, and part of the medic team of the association. The scuba gear was removed, to help her breathe on her own without relying on the equipment, her crimson irises refocused almost immediately after he flashed a pen light in both of them, and she stabilized herself by sitting up.
“Alright, careful, easy now, you practically bursted out of the water too quickly with the scuba equipment. I warned you, and the others to ascend slowly, anyone with blood in their veins will suffer from the pressure of the water. It’s practically the same thing as opening a soda bottle. “ Lamar explained, concerned for the others who were still under water, and was checking Clove for any injuries, “That eel was fast, the others have been down there long enough to get chased out of the water like you did, are they alright?”
Being part demon, she was able to recover faster than an average earthling, she was still feeling light headed which was nothing compared to what a human would suffer. The nitrogen bubbles in her veins were out of her system just by breathing on her own, and with a few breaths the blood in her veins was back to normal. A blademaster as herself, had succumbed to the limitations of being under water, and she learned a hard lesson in her experience. In fact, it somewhat intrigued her that something like the ocean would give her such a difficult time, and she determined it was an opportunity to train under water in the future.
The tea princess’ tongue felt suddenly numb, she found it difficult to speak, until she took a few breaths and spoke. “The eels are quite irritated after we found the lures, I don’t believe they plan on giving up without a fight, but they might get in trouble if they get chased out of the water and zapped like I have been. I fear they may suffer injuries if I do not go back to help.”
Kai looked concerned, his eyes were still squinted, and he opened them revealing a blue glowing sclera without an iris or pupil. It was no mistake that the young man was an android and he offered a confident smile. “Just rest up Miss Clove. I may not be built to fight against a nest of eels but I am a good swimmer. I can get the others to safety and hide from them so they can slowly return to the ship.”
Xanthus wanted to follow along as well since he could breathe under water but instead decided to start the ship’s engine, reel in the anchor, and prepare to make an escape just in case.
“Oh, alright, President Kai." She turned to Lamar, "Thank you. I really had no idea what I was getting myself into. I am stronger than the average earthling, I have recovered now. Are you a doctor?” Clove tilted her head at the tan, silver haired man, with a serious disgruntled expression on his face.
“Yes. Fishing is a serious sport, the injuries can sometimes cause a fisherman to lose a limb, nature can be a dangerous part of being out in the ocean. As vice president, I make certain all fishermen are trained through our association on the basic safety measures of administering first aid. Informing them of the dangers of swimming and diving thirty feet below the surface.”
The thought that even swimming had repercussions, meant Baccer was also in danger of resurfacing too quickly. “Huh, I thought it was because the scuba gear, I never realized even swimming just thirty feet without it would also cause a problem. I apologize for not heeding your warning, Doctor.”
The white lemur leaped out of Kai’s front pocket, as he fasted the button to his suit, then dove in the water with sneakers and all. The voice of the fishing association’s president sounded off via the radio frequency of the scuba masks.
“Clove was forced out of the water by that overgrown eel, she is suffering from decompression sickness. Follow the blue light and we can hide in a nearby reef until they lose interest to resurface back on the boat safely.”
A blue beam of light glowed on the ship graveyard, which led to Kai standing on top of a bed of coral still wearing his sneakers, the light was from his eyes. The depth of the ocean made it barely visible, it was no different from calibrating a monitor by following the prompts in that light should blend in with the dark background, and the corners of the arrows should line up with the corner of the screen.
There was an alcove beyond the reef, more specifically a broken tuffle bunker, where marine life managed to rupture open and flourish within the metal chamber. Once their plan worked, they would be able to join the others as planned and finally have their lucky lures back.

“The fishing lures, I noticed they have some sort of shard inside, and they glow under water. I can see why they are lucky but did you forge them yourselves?” Clove asked, taking a towel Xanthus handed her, several more was on a bench nearby for everyone, and sea monster man knelled by her side.
“The lures are around four hundred years old and they have been passed down to the fishing association council since its establishment. A giant flying shark was about to attack south city when our boat broke loose from the dock, we left in a panic because the typhoon warning sounded off, and we were evacuated by a couple of people who sent the shark back into the ocean.” Xanthus looked over at the horizon, “We are planning on giving away one of the lures in a fishing tournament next week. So it was important to get them back, not only as relics to the association, but as a prize.”
“I am confident the lures are safe, that teenage insect looking kid managed to grab them before I was chased, perhaps he knew not to resurface as quickly, and is trying to ditch that massive eel as we speak.” Clove spoke as she completely dried up with the towel, she stood up, which caused Lama and Xanthus to do the same. The tea princess was able to walk normally, gathering her kimono style cheongsam robe, she put it back on, and sat down next to a tower of white folded towels. “If you do not mind, I am going to sit here a little while, I feel a bit of vertigo.”
“You were down there for an hour, severe symptoms usually appear an hour later, but in your case from what I can tell is your natural healing ability regulating the blood stream.” Lamar added.
“With that explanation it is beginning to make more sense, I do feel like I am sobering up from something. Heh.” Clove smiled rather weakly, she was holding her regal composure as best as she could, but she was still mortal in the world. “Well, it was a fun adventure while it lasted, I had the opportunity of meeting new people who were willing to help in this situation. I just never imagined how dangerous it could be to go against nature. It is quite a force with the limitations I have suffered for the first time. I am far from reaching the pinnacle of my sword master training after all.”
