The dim light of an off-key corporate outpost for the Pilaf Corporation was where Bass sat.
He supposed it was only natural, as part of the journey he was undergoing some breaks were necessary. Yet if working was still a thing in ones break, it only gives more credit to the proper busy hours. Feet kicked up on the desk sat down on the other side, half closed and tired eyes looked towards the suited kid that looked five sizes too small for the clothes he wore.
"H-here, Mr. Bass. Hopefully it wasn't a problem being brought here, we thought maybe you could help us with a problem." The sound of papers being worked with, the sliding of sheets and the sounds of zippers before just next to his foot a paper slid forward. Letting out a slight sigh, he pulled his feet back and shuffled forward to lightly rest his right elbow next to the sheet. Supporting his cheek with an open palm to hold his head up, he skimmed through what was being proposed to him. After giving it a significantly less than thorough read, he let out a yawn and spoke up.
"So to get this straight, people trapped themselves in Carrots?" Bass said, tired eyes examining the suit in front of him. It didn't take a genius to figure out that in some way the Pilaf Corporation was responsible, chances are this was a new product that had different intentions and wasn't working nearly as expected. The rushed product of an endless cycle of consumer and seller. There wouldn't be a need for all the smoke and mirrors otherwise. All he needed to do was sign the paper- it actually had a pretty decent reward too. The Pilaf Corporation was really shelling out for something that wasn't a huge deal, but just as another mans trash is anothers treasure, perhaps a problem to one is nothing to another. After all, Bass didn't need to worry about Human Resources, Public Relations, media, none of that. He just did what he did, a force of nature free to do as he wished.
Grabbing the pen, he thought of a million silly remarks to make, but none of them felt really justified in his current mood. He never tried to force the things he did or didn't do. Gently scribbling down his name with the most fractal application of force, he dropped the pen next to the sheet and leaned back. If this was just some over-glorified carrot hunt, he'd be insane not to take the opportunity to make money for Momentum Financials reconstruction materials.
Collecting the sheet and beginning to close up shop, the kid across from him nodded and extended a hand. Outstretched for a shake with Bass, the Black Heart Namekian's eyes just lingered for a moment too long while debating with himself. Before he did anything one way or another, the hand retreated as the figure lost whatever scraps of confidence he'd been holding onto at this point. "Farewell, Mr. Bass. Once you're done let us know."
And with that he was gone, scurrying out of the room to whatever demanded of task was asked of him next. Staring over the desk towards the featureless wall across from him, he slowly began to pick himself up from the chair. Walking outside the Namekian looked to the bright sky, and let out a sigh of relief. There was something cathartic about total freedom.

Will was in the middle of the sky sitting on the Flying Nimbus when he got a call by the same person who hired him to deal with the rogue monkey kid situation recently. He's not one to turn down an offer to get some extra money, but of course when he hears about what the job entails he asks. "I'm sorry could you run that by me again I must be going senile," Will responded. "I am afraid everything I said is true, we don't know if it's some weird ability someone used those carrots or if somehow some mad scientist's experiments got into the farmer's crop. What's important though is that we make sure none of these carrots get out into the public and also rescue the people inside by bringing them to professionals to free them. These farms provide fresh produce for almost all of the many eating establishments in the park, and we can't let any of the farmer's die either so you better find those quickly before a wild animal could snatch and eat them," the woman on the phone said. Will has been around for a long time, longer then most people, but this is probably the strangest job he has ever taken. He sighs as he has no choice but to agree to this. "I'll do it, I'll be going to the farm then," he said. "Great, just so you know we asked another Ki user to help, so you won't be doing it alone," the woman said. With his Flying Nimbus, he managed to get a heads up as he arrived at the farm before his so apparent back up was arrived. He decided to wait for them before starting and getting a layout of the land, also honing his Ki Sense to pick out the strange carrots from the normal ones.

There was a flash into the sky before a slam resounded from the plains outside of the carrot fields. Shaking the dirt off of himself as he picked himself out of the ever so slight crater he'd made, Bass's attention turned not towards the smaller power levels of what must've been these entrapped people, but instead to the greater one. Immediately the working Namekian let out a tired sigh as he spotted the familiar figure; Will. He had some experience working with him before, and for all Bass knew this was a coincidence. Should he come to find out that the Pilaf Corporation thought he would need help with such a minor task, well... Some things are better left as they are. Calling out towards Will, Bass shouted about as loud as he needed to; calling over a fair ways. "Hey, if you're here because of these carrots uh... Apparently people are trapped in them." Bass said as he walked into the field. The place had been subtly shut off from the public while this potential HR crisis was sorted out. Waiting between the rows of budding vegetables, it was simple to decipher the special ones from the normal ones. It begged the question of why The Pilaf Corporation thought of infusing naturally growing carrots with storage space, maybe it was a way to directly infuse them with nutrients? Another tired sigh. Bending down towards one of the carrots, Bass's hand wrapped around the majority of it and with a decisive tug pulled it from the soil flawlessly. The speed and force allowed for such instant precision. The job itself once one knew how to feel power signatures was about as simple as normal farming, and with the physique of one of the strongest martial artists in the world it didn't come with any physical exhaustion. Just a time dump for some quick zeni. It gave time to catch up with the Turtle School practitioner.
"So Will? What have you been doing these days? How are things in the world? I've been keeping my head low for a while."

Will then saw a familiar sight, the Namekian known as Bass who helped him along with some other stop a gigantic flying shark with a Dragon Ball Shard embedded into it, as soon as he recalls that event in his head it is odd but not as odd as the situation he is currently in. "Yes I heard, and I do feel something strange with the carrots, I am unsure if it is magical or not or some other type of energy but something strange is going on. I also have an odd feeling that something strange is happening near this land, something big, so I have been taking some odd jobs around here and preparing myself for what I feel might be an eventual battle," Will explained. Will is not much of a farmer he has been received training of plowing gardens through with his own paws and even did some gardening in his spare time. He quickly digs through the dirt and gets a bunch of the carrots out, as soon as he was about to grab another one he witnesses a small wild rabbit about to pluck the rabbit from the ground. Will and the rabbit stared at each other, the rabbit tries to slowly grab the carrot before Will let out a hiss and scared the rabbit off. That was a close one.
"Well besides my premonition I think things are going as fine as they normally are at the moment. Heard about q robot attack happening in West City but apparently Capsule Corp has that covered," Will explained.

Bass might as well have been watching paint dry. Of course, it wasn't at the hands of Will, the job was just so excruciatingly mundane. Bass was being paid way too much to just be an over glorified farmer for a day, just because he could sense ki. Though maybe that was just it, the fact he'd been able to do that for so long- sense power, that he underestimated just how rare of a thing it was. Just how special the ability to innately feel power could be.
Whether or not on some level he recognized that, the fact remained that he couldn't wait to be done with this to move on with his life. Letting out a yawn while Will spoke, the Namekian chalked up what he was hearing to the same wanton unpredictable chaos that is always plaguing Earth somewhere or another. He spoke up. "So... Alright. Sounds normal enough, though I can't imagine something serious actually happening in Pilaf land. Seems like as innocent as places get, and every danger that'd ever show up here could be considered a bad joke. I wouldn't be surprised if the vending machines grew legs and started cussing at people." He said as he tugged out yet another carrot and set it into the growing pile of ever so faintly illuminated vegetables.
"I wonder what it feels like to be stuck in a carrot. Or if they can hear us. I can't imagine it'd be comfortable." Bass said, rubbing the back of his neck. A glance was paid towards Will.
"It's been a while, you dodged the most important question I asked. How have you been? What have you been up too? I don't remember many people's names, so I'd like to at least know what the ones I do remember are up too." Bass admitted, looking the other way on the tail end of what he said.
"In my case, I've been dealing with a bunch of garbage. Business burned down, but I think it'll be back stronger than ever, it's gaining traction and I'm getting through a lot of the difficulties around it. Corporate went bankrupt, so if I get things running again I can re-brand and I'll run the whole place. Pretty exciting, means I can set my own hours too. If I have one regret, there was some applicant named Yuzu, seemed pretty talented. Was hoping she'd stick around, but oh well. You win some, and you learn from the ones you lose."
Another carrot was plucked, another fell into the pile.

"A vending machine that goes rogue huh? I think I had a nightmare like that once." Will replied to Bass's odd example. Will was just glad though that he got an easy job with no fighting to be had, barring having to scare off the odd wild animal that tries to take a nibble of the carrots. He then glanced back at Bass he asks what the people inside the carrots could be feeling. "I can't imagine how it would be like, could be worse though, they could have actually been turned into carrots. Either way, I don't recommend trying to break them apart either," Will responded. "Well, I haven't been up to much, sparred with some young Martial artists named Shinryu and Celerai, had a fight with Melody due to some conflicting ideologies, helped got this monkey child that refused to live the Pilaf Land park back to her family, and of course been honing my skills and body. I would love to hear about what you have been up to though." Will said. Will listened intently what he had to say even if he didn't entirely understand it, he's not knowledgable in how businesses work, but he can appreciate that Bass has a career he enjoys doing. "Well, I hope your business flourishes then," Will O. Wisp said. And with that, the last carrot was added to the pile as they put wrapped it into a tarp to make a large bag to carry it all back. "Our work here appears to be done, let's bring them back to normal," Will said. As they woke off into the sunset, Will was glad to be meeting a familiar face again.
