Name: Kanae Narukami (Zero)
Species: Human
Age: 20
Gender: Female
Appearance:
Kanae is a young woman with long, black hair and red eyes. She is of relatively short stature and is always seen with a katana on her back. Her love for black is evident on her clothing style, loving black vests and coats, along with skirts -a futile attempt of hers to appear a bit more feminine- her posture is always straight and serious, appearing rather cold and determined. As for her body type, she's slim and rather athletic, with slight muscle definition. She is also filled with small scars and wounds, showing the gruelling training that has got her this far
Personality:
Zero can initially appear as a perfect representation of her position: the cold, calculated battle genius that was trained by piccolo Daimaou to assist in his endless conquest. She is cold, calculated, and always seems to have thought a couple steps ahead of whoever she's talking to. This behaviour has given her somewhat of a reputation in the army of Piccolo for being a stuck-up brat who thinks she's someone important because the boss trained her. However, this persona stems from a very different place: overwhelming social ineptitude. She doesn't know how to deal or interact with people, so she defaults to the ideal stereotype her position is supposed to portray. If someone actually managed to crack through the facade they would find a way more uncertain, clueless and in many ways, lonely person
Now, that doesn't mean she is "good". Piccolo and his training made sure that she fully understands the harshness of this world and the need to strive forward, to get better, and to obey him. She is a firm believer of "the ends justify the means" and wether serving the king or herself, she won't hesitate in order to get what she wants with cold, calculated precision.
History:
Kanae's story begins long, long ago. With a man called Odama Narukami. A weaponsmith of great renown. His blades became famous through the region he lived in for their exquisite cut, only fit for nobles and kings. Odama died by his own blade's cut. His son Masashi continued his father's work, making even better blades. Masashi died by his own blade's cut. and so did his son, and so did his son. The Narukami clan would go on like this for centuries, making better and better blades that always ended their creator's life. Was it a curse? pure misfortune? or an organised assassination attempt against the family?. Nobody knew. But every Narukami would pick up their forefather's work, and they would all without fail to be cut down by their own blade. That was until the latest heir of the family: Ryuji Narukami. He began his life as any of his progenitors had, becoming a master blacksmith. So good in fact, that piccolo Daimaou picked him to become his personal blacksmith. It was a job Ryuji was proud of, and he had almost accepted the fate that would eventually befall him like it had so many of his ancestors. However, that fact changed when his daughter was born. Narukami was known for always producing male offspring, one son for every father, without fail. This was the first time a Narukami's child had been female. And as Ryuji held the newly named Kanae, it dawned at him that she would one day share on his family's fate. He hated that thought, he hated himself for being so complacent, so... accepting of their line's curse. That was the moment Ryuji Narukami decided to grasp his own destiny
he used all his influence and skill to gather all of his lineage's cursed blades. Once he had them, he promptly shattered them and used the parts to make a new sword he named Unmei "destiny". the blade was unlike anything else the line had produced. Not only a masterwork by sword standards but also infused with mystical power. Ryuji took a whole year into forging, enchanting and refining the blade. However all this time, he knew this would be the final blade he would ever make. After all, piccolo had no need for a blacksmith that had already forged his masterpiece. Thus, the last Narukami weaponsmith also made a sheath, a sheath powered by a mystical shard of a once-great orb. It would limit the blade's power so it could only be used once per day, and only by one of his lineage. When he turned the blade in, Piccolo was so enraged of the limitations he executed him on the spot, Falling right into Ryuji's trap. Since he was dead, the only suitable wielder for the blade was his daughter. In one fell swoop, she had become irreplaceable to the demon king. But that didn't mean Piccolo would play fair. He decided to raise Kanae as if she was his own offspring. Which meant gruelling training and brainwashing by him. He told her of how crane school martial artists had assassinated her father, and of the order he would bring to the land so nothing like that could happen again.
And that brings us to today, with Kanae as an elite soldier of piccolo, still under his influence. Still trying to master her Unmei

again, again, again
Master’s voice was piercing her ears. She had been at it for a day now, but master piccolo insisted she continues, practising this one slash. Kanae grit her teeth, caught her breath and continued. It was for her own sake after all. So she could one day properly wield Unmei, so she could take these bastards down, the ones that killed her father: the crane school. All her training, all of master Piccolo’s effort would one day lead her to that level of power. She would make them proud. Both her father and her master. But the hours did drag on, the same movement performed over and over again. It reminded her of her first mission
It was the elimination of a village, not far from piccolo’s territory. It seemed they had been staging attacks on piccolo’s supply lines, and he had dispatched her to take care of it, along with a small force of men. He said it would “test her resolve” proving if she was worthy of being his student. As the village came to sight, she knew one slash from Unmei would be enough to reduce it to rubble. The soldiers around her took point, aiming various blasts at it. But she was the one in charge of giving the command. It would be so simple, unsheathe the sword and slash. So simple… why was she freezing then?. There were second thoughts. Weren’t there families in this village, innocent people?. It was then that a hand touched her shoulder. It was her master “Kanae. These people knew what they were doing. They accepted the risk. If we are to avenge your father and finally end injustice, you also have to accept this burden. Show me your determination Kanae, show me why your destiny is worth reaching” The girl was left stunned. Her master had come all this way to encourage her, give her the push he knew she needed. With a deep breath, she got into a stance and drew her blade “Kiba!” she shouted, the village was split in two by a crimson slash before it got eviscerated by various energy blasts. What Kanae failed to notice from her battle stance was Piccolo’s evil grin, flashing right above her shoulder
Then there was the first time she had to kill someone while looking them in the eye. One on one. A certain martial artist was trespassing on her master’s territory, challenging him to a duel. Of course, a small fry such as him was of no concern to her master, so he decided Kanae should go instead. It was a very important moment for her, being appointed King Piccolo’s champion. Her and the trespasser met on neutral ground, amidst a field of wheat “huh. So that slug Piccolo sent a kid instead of him. What does he take me for, a joke” he grunted, causing Kanae to scoff “while i am sure your appearance would get a few chuckles out of him, i’m afraid we are not looking for a new jester” her cold retort matched only by the coldness of her eyes. This only served to infuriate the fighter, a burly ox beastman, even more. “you little- Very well then, when i send you back to him battered and bruised, then he’ll be forced to show up” he said as he charged at her. Kanae took a deep breath and backstepped his first attack, followed bu a duck and a weave to the left. Step by step, she was avoiding and analysing this man’s attack pattern. All the while her hand was slowly reaching for the hilt of her sword “stand still you bi-” and with a quick motion, her blade cut off the man’s left arm. He fell to his knees screaming, while Kanae aimed up the finishing touch “w-wait!” the man shouted, catching her by surprise “y-you’re just a kid. I’m sure he hasn’t completely corrupted you yet.” “badmouthing master again?” “you don’t get it, do you?. Piccolo. is. evil. He is the corrupted counterpart to the guardian of earth. A snake that will manipulate you until he has no further use for you. You have to trust me” he groaned, trying to stop the pain. Kanae was left puzzled and confused. This man’s words… could he be right, could master really be- that train of thought was interrupted as the man seized the moment and tried to stab her in the neck with a hidden knife. Kanae grunted and cut him down where he stood. As she observed the bloodied corpse, she cursed herself for even considering the words of this deceiver. She could trust master Piccolo. She could ONLY trust master Piccolo
As her master’s voice snapped the girl out of her trance, Kanae began swinging with double the vigour. The path to her destiny was paved in blood, mercy was just another word for weakness. And while king Piccolo’s words echoed in her head, Unmei sliced through the air once again
