In the vast wastelands of the Southern Demonlands, a large demon camp was buzzing with nervous mumbling. Demonic creatures of all kinds were conversing in hushed tones. One of the burliest -and probably bravest- ogres hurried to the center of the camp and entered a huge tent. Inside, a towering figure was slouching back on a throne of skulls, idly chewing a bone. His glowing eyes focused their piercing stare on the messenger. A curious brow quirked when he saw his trusted lieutenant... trembling. “What is it?” His voice emanated across the tent like a puff of smoke and brimstone. Dark. Heavy. Dominating.
The buff ogre swallowed the clump of nervousness clogging his throat. “B-boss, we have a problem.” ...Well, obviously The warlord barely resisted uttering the sarcastic comment out loud. “Tch, calm down. You’re shaking like a lowly imp.” Yet even his commanding tone didn’t quite calm down the messenger. “Yeah, but this is real bad.” Possibilities were already running through the leader’s head. Invasion. Assassins. Something worse? His sharp teeth twisted into an ominous grin. “Hah, whatever it is, I can handle it. My power is absolute. Now... Spit. It. Out.” He didn’t have all day, you know. And the messenger obliged quickly. Briefly. Concisely. “She... She’s missing.” A deep, uncomfortable silence filled the tent.
“...What?”
Naturally, the lieutenant hurried to explain. “The Majin, Zam, we can’t find her anywhere. Nobody knows where she went.” Color drained from the warlord’s features. He rose from his drone and slowly marched closer to the messenger. “Can you even fathom what other clans will do to us when they realize that monster is no longer protecting us?” His rhetorical question was met with panicked nodding. Without wasting a moment, the warlord burst out of his tent. His mighty voice echoed across the camp. “Troops! Go get candies, pastries, pudding, anything sweet you can get your hands on. Even honey will do. Lure the Majin back, no matter what it takes!” No one dared to question the odd order. Like bees out of a hive, the demons scattered across the lands.
Meanwhile, the aforementioned Majin was far along on a path to the border of the territory. She was on an ADVENTURE~! It all started a couple of days ago, when she and her new friends played with metal wolfies. While returning home, she had found another mysterious piece of colorful papers. Um, well, actually it had flown into her face and made her crash. Again. Back home, the smartest demon in her camp had helpfully told her it was called a fly-er. This fly-er was actually a map to a very special city. It said that a huuuge special event was going to happen. To her question of what a special event meant, her friend had said it was kind of like a party. When she had heard that, she had nearly exploded from excitement. She loved parties! So of course she wanted to go.
After a nice long nap, Zam had gotten up pretty early in the morning and headed off. ...On foot. Her metal wolfie was still too tired from the crash, so she had left it sleeping with her friends. It was okay though. Her smart friend had told her that this West City place wasn’t very far away. And she loved running from place to place! Even now, her pink energy blazed and legs were just a circular blur as she dashed across familiar scenery. She had packed her backpack full of snacks and a whole bottle of her favorite juice.
Before long, the small demon arrived at a crossroads. She stared up at a sign with several arrows pointing all over the place. One even pointed directly towards the sky. She wasn’t really sure if it was supposed to do that. Studying the signs closely, she noted every location. Thoughtful humming was accompanied by occasional nodding. Hm hm, yup yup... She still couldn’t read. Usually it wasn’t a problem. She just picked any direction and went where she felt like. Buuuut this time she had a place to go... Aaand she had no idea which way was west. Taking a chocolate bar from her backpack, she plopped down and started munching. Oh, and thinking too. Kind of.
After some pondering, a light bulb lit up in the little Majin’s head. One of the arrows pointed towards a mountain. So if she climbed up there, then she would see this West City place, right? Right! Ooh, she was super smart! Without wasting a moment, she rushed off towards the mountain. ...Which, conveniently enough, was to the west. Not that she knew that. The climb was a breeze for someone who could stretch and bounce like rubber. As her excitement and aura burned brighter, her movements got faster and wilder. She hopped, skipped and launched herself up the mountainside.
...Aaand right over the top.
In an instant, Zam’s climb went downhill. She hit the rocky steep with dizzying force. Stars twirled around her head as she continued to stumble and roll down. Her backpack was the first thing to go, getting bashed and shredded against the stones. Despite the rough -even lethal- ride, the winds carried a jubilant squeal. “Wheeee~!” This was fun~! But all fun things had to end eventually. She came to a skidding stop at the very base of the mountain. “Whee...” Only one thought remained somewhat coherent in her scrambled mind. Again, it urged.
Once the durable demon’s eyes finally stopped spinning, she bounced back onto her feet. Her mangled body pulled itself back together like nothing ever happened. In the distance, tall buildings shined beautifully under the sun. Her eyes sparkled with pure wonder. So... pretty...! Likewise, her antennae twitched curiously. She could feel many powerful tingles over there. An excited grin spread across her features. Oooh, she couldn’t wait to meet and beat new people! The pink aura flared as the rubbery rocket rushed off again. West City would remember her little visit for a long time...
