The undergrowth could tell that the Temple was no ordinary place. It did, after all, manifest without warning on this simple world. This pristine world spoiled no longer by war and suffering. Only peace. Yes, the cycle of life and death continued, but it was as it was in all things in nature. That was key, really. There existed only death in peace. Death ordained only by time and chance. Not by the machinations of men. Those days were long gone. The people were happy now. Happier than they could ever have imagined they could be before. The people were together now. Closer than they had ever fathomed possible. The Gardener was glad to live such a life. One granted by chance, ordained by time, and made possible because she had done the right thing. Strong and weak, lived and died as they should, in the harmonious rhythm of tooth and claw. But in death, there was only peace. In death, there was only getting together, as they stepped past the ultimate door and into the final unknown. She traced her fingers along the dusty stone walls. The undergrowth had only reached as far as a few dozen yards inward, its brush illuminating the dark hall with the warm orange glow of bioluminescent roses. The Temple was proving resistant to its influence. That was why the undergrowth called her here. In such a case, it was only understandable that she should see to it herself, that this problem be remedied. Until the undergrowth could pad the entire floors pace of this Temple, it was a threat to the world. The peaceful world she had crafted with her own hands, where war and suffering were no more. Where death proceeded as through nature, and where everything was in its rightful place. This Temple might even be called anathema, as its strange powers resisted the creep of the undergrowth. Past that certain point, it could not grow. And she would have to weaken this resistance. That way, it could become part of this wonderful world that she had grown out of her garden. "Does it really hurt you?" She asked, stooping down to touch a seemingly wilting marigold. "I'm so sorry. But as a child of the undergrowth, you have to steel yourself. Be strong as long as you can, okay? This will be over soon." <<Then us overtake edifice.>>The Gardener smiled cheerfully in response to the voice in her head. "Yes. Yes, you will. I just have to find the cause for this disruption. And once that has been removed... you can grow." <<Us help Gardener. Us push on.>> The undergrowth began to shake. From within its deep green foliage sprouted a writhing mass of vines that soon took shape as a large quadrupedal entity. Dire as one might call it in some sense or another. It prowled along the grass and shrubs, stumbling at first, as if getting used to its legs, though it quickly grew in competence and confidence. In a matter of seconds, it had taken the first step onto the cold stone floor, visibly shuddering. <<Place not amiable. Tread careful, Gardener.>>Despite its initial apprehension, it took another step to follow Gardener, and another... until all four vegetal paws were on the flagstone. The Gardener smiled and gave it a motherly stroke on what appeared to be the head, a bulbous appendage topped with six sensory villi, and lined with a gaping flytrap of magnificent size. Like an oversized cat, it leaned into the stroke, rubbing its form underneath the hand. "Good boy," she continued down the hall, the plant beast following behind her in a careful stance. Soon, they would make their way into a large room, one that appeared to be for all intents and purposes, a sort of greenhouse, if a rather chaotic one. Tables of various lengths and orientations formed a maze, topped by rectangular planters of matching shape and depth. All filled with soil, freshly irrigated, aerated, and even weeded. Pristine as any. All that was needed was for one to plant seedlings, and they could grow for sure, under these powerful sunlamps. On the other end of the maze was another door, and it was here where Misaki and Coral would be led... Where they would meet the Gardener. As Misaki walked forward, she was surprised to find a bunch of planter boxes around them. Strange for a temple, they formed a long Maze with multiple twists and turns, numerous pathways, and as the gardener of this world stepped forward into the new ground, she felt something... strange. Coral, meanwhile, was shivering. "Misaki... this... doesn't seem right. What is going on in here? why all the planter boxes? Why do they form a maze? What's it all mean?" the girl would ask with a worried look.
Misaki simply shrugged. She honestly didn't have any more of a clue than the pink-haired girl nervously holding onto her arm did, and as she walked, her dress brushing against the wooden boxes in these cramped corridors, she sighed as she looked for her alternate fighter.
"Well then, who do you think is responsible for all of this?" Misaki asked Coral, before the girl shrugged. "What do I look like, an Archaeologist? That was Sh... someone else's job!" Coral would add.
The entire statement perplexed Misaki as she spoke. "...Coral, is there something..."
"Uhh, Misaki, I don't mean to interrupt, but spooky empty plant-temple."
"I'm sure it can wait. what's the worst..."
Misaki's voice stopped mid-sentence as she felt something. A presence that... by all means, shouldn't exist. Plants aren't supposed to...
Coral looked up with Nervous eyes. "Is something wrong, Misaki? Please tell me no."
"No."
"Were you being genuine?"
"Of course not."
"I--Yeah, okay, fair. my bad." The Girl added, clinging a little closer to the florist, Even as Misaki sighed, bringing up her parasol in challenge to the beings she felt laying just around the bend.
"Coral?"
"Uhh... Yes."
"Back up a little. This might just get a little messy..."
Misaki looked up at the rows and rows of planter boxes around her.
"Or, well, a lot messy. We'll have to find out."
With that, Misaki waited - both for the strange and yet somehow familiar ki, and for the moving plant she felt that existed just around the bend.
"Well then, shall we need to do weeding today?"

The Gardener reached out. Not with the vines that had become natural extensions of her fingers, snaked away underneath her foliar sleeve, nor with the human fingers she still kept. No, she reached out with a sense that could not be found in the sap, or in the leaves. An extra perception of something beyond mere biology. Perhaps the same substrate that allowed her to hear the undergrowth's words. With with this sense, she picked up a most interesting scent. Interesting because of its familiarity, and yet, at the same time, foreign tinge. It was the same, but different. For one, it had not the blessing of the undergrowth and its peace. It was still alone. Or well, accompanied by one. But both were alone. She dipped a finger into the soil of one of these meandering planters, to see what it was. Acidity, mineral content, ideal for certain flowers. The Gardener pulled it out and rubbed the soil in between two. Good texture. Fingers. A reminder of the past that almost destroyed this beautiful world. Though the flesh retained its melanin-tinged appearance from before the Worldbloom, the evidence of the event was as clear as the chloroplast veins running over the back of her hand. The undergrowth recognised her as its keeper. Its protector. As such, though she lived closer to the way people did before, it was by no means the same as one would before the Worldbloom. She was no longer alone. Wherever she went, she could hear the joy of the people, the song of the flowers, and the poetry of the animals. Wherever she trod, she would see sun or moon, and everyone at peace... Except this temple. Even if the soil in these planters was indeed as perfect as it seemed to be, she sincerely doubted that the plants grown here could truly prosper. Not when they would be cut off from the undergrowth. In a way, these planters weren't planters you could put in a garden. They were prison cells. No, the only time she would make use of them would be when this temple had been cleansed. And perhaps, that would be done once she had introduced these two approaching loners to the undergrowth. <<Gardener. Perplexing room this. Us perturbed. Lonely soil. Smell scent withoutBloom.>>"Yes, I think we're close." They continued to navigate the maze, ever so slowly approaching what felt like the centre. Somehow, despite being able to see just fine above the planters, and with the sunlamps hanging from the ceiling, a strange fog... more accurately a darkness... kept them from seeing the room in its entirety. "Be strong." This made it something of a maze indeed. The Gardener adjusted her verdant hood, sprouted blossoms of rainbow assortment gently wiggling as she drifted over the stone tiles. Finally, she rounded a bend. There they were. Two people. Two loners. Untogether with each other. Lacking the blessing of undergrowth. One had a curious pink shade of hair. The other... perhaps in some forgotten time, she might have laughed. It was as though she'd stepped back in time and was looking into a mirror before the Worldbloom. This was when she was alone. With some minor variations in attire. But otherwise identical. Even now, it wasn't really all too different, aside from the extensive foliar garb, and the chloroplasts that ran through her veins. The plant creature slinked low, prepared to pounce. The only sound it made a rustling of the vines within its being that seemed to growl, purr, and hiss, all at the same time. "Well isn't this intiguing?" The Gardener proffered a smile. "Another Gardener. withoutBloom...?" Or at least, that was what could be understood by a trained human ear. To others, it was a strange rustling that might have been misconstrued for the whispering of air through leaves - which it technically was. It didn't need to do this, but it had quickly surmised that this other Gardener might not have had a direct connection to it. But if she did, that would make it all the better. "Perhaps. Perhaps not." She raised a finger. "Is this your garden? it appears to still need a bit more work." WC: 700/1418 EVT: 3189 Misaki Kazamiya

Misaki thought she could hear Coral's shivering, as they rounded a bend or two. Misaki, for her part, was excited. what sort of mysteries did this temple hold? What were all these empty planters doing. Who was doing all of this? why? ...And of course, would anyone mind if she took one or two of these home? These seem like they'd be a perfect place to plant some flowers for the teahouse. Perhaps underneath a window inside the teahouse, selected for beauty? She'd need to give a proper test of the soil later - she didn't bring any tools - but as far as her trained eye could tell, this was potentially excellent soil for them to live in. Still, that would have to wait until they'd secured a bead on who else was... Oh. Oh my. The her-that-was-not-her immediately took Misaki's attention. The mirroring effect was immediate and caused a twitch in her hand as she resisted bringing a hand up to her mouth. The creature in front of her had odd veins, and her attire seemed made, not of the normal materials, but of foliage... It had something to it, though. some sort of force Misaki didn't. She could feel it infused with her. with her companion. It was... Sickeningly sweet, for lack of a better term. a... something. It felt strange, foreign, and yet inviting, like it was trying it's best to invite Misaki in. A stab with the umbrella poked into the ground as she took an involuntary step backwards, away from this her-that-was-not-her, even as she said what Misaki was sure she would have said in a similar moment. Still, It took the space of a short breath for Misaki to regain her composure. she was not a little girl to be cowed by such a thing. even as she looked over to the plant next to her, and listened attentively to it's words, she started to pierce things together. "...I see. So this bloom is what separates the two of us..." Misaki would add, as she listened to the plant's delicate speech. It was... more refined, mroe thoughtful. Clearly, the plants where this one came from were of a different stock altogether. Part of her wanted to visit, and yet, the feeling of that call, that embrace being offered so openly just from the two of them, quickly convinced the florist that this would be a very bad idea, unless she wanted to find herself staying forever... Misaki shook her head, both of the thoughts and at the Gardener's question. "...No. It seems this place is foreign to both of us. a middle-ground between our worlds, perhaps. I'd show you mine, but I think it's actually a much better idea if you stay out of it. What you hold is... dangerous." The green-haired demon would add. "...It appears you are my alternate, from wherever you're from. There is no doubt..." Misaki would continue. "...Which might make your leafy Friend Coral's." Coral jumped up, her horror replaced with a look of anger and indignity. "Excuse me, what." "The plant... right there?" Misaki would add, pointing to the plant-being, to a frowning, glaring Coral. " how is that me?" "I mean, it's enthusiastic, you're enthusiastic..." "Okay, I am super enthusiastic, but I don't think that by itself..." "And It's vines kind of remind me of your arms. They're both so smooth and lacking muscle definition." "H-hey. C-come on now. I work out! I go to the gym once a month whether I need to or not!" "Plus, something about it's leaves reminds me of your outfit." "What-how- how." Coral sputtered, looking back to it and her. "I mean, It's not even pink! an alternate of mine would have to be pink!" Coral sputtered out with a look of offense on her face, as she crossed her arms. Misaki 'hmm'ed with a thoughtful look. "...Perhaps in the summer, plant-coral happens to flower in a beautiful fuchsia combination?" Misaki would ask, before looking to the plant-beast with a questioning look. "...Do you flower pi-" "Look, it doesn't matter how much it flowers! The point is my nose is not that big." COral would add with a pink flushed face, looking more and more embarassed by the second. "...It doesn't have a nose." "It's face is it's nose. And my nose is not that big" "Maybe this is the universe where your nose is that big?" "Nooo... Misaki, you... you can't... you just can't..." "I'm just saying I see a certain resemblance..." " Yes. I know. that is the problem, yes!" "...You are just impossible to please, sometimes..." Misaki would add, shaking her head. "All I'm saying is, I pay you to body-guard me, not to insult me!" "I didn't consider it an insult. Plant-coral has lovely vines, and an excellent cell wall structure. It's a vivid shade of green that suggests it's exceptionally well-cared for. It reminded me how smooth your legs are." Like a lightswitch, Coral turned from very indignant, to very red. "H-H-how smooth my..." "...I'm afraid we need to focus, though." Misaki added, with Coral giving a tortured look of " no, you can't just stop the conversation like this, that's unfair" "...Right. Errr..." Misaki smiled. Before, she was filled with a bit of terror on seeing this her-that-was-not-her. Now... The Green-haired gardener pulled her parasol to one hand. "...It seems we've met at a mutual accident. Even so... I'm afraid I can't let you go the rest of the way through. Let's agree to enjoy this moment of discovery, and return to our respective worlds, hmm?" Misaki lifted the parasol like a fencer with a blade, as she continued. "Otherwise... Well, I'll just have to find out what it takes to break myself." [953 words] Konja of Clan KormBATTLE TRACKER SUMMARY Natural PL: 8,582 Base PL:12,873

For just a moment, the Gardener remembered what it was like to be disconnected. Watching her former self now, with this Coral individual, exchanging banter - if a one-sided one - brought back flashes of previous days. Days when she would speak to people just to see what made them tick. Misunderstandings, misconceptions, misapprehensions, deliberate obtusion, obfuscation of intent, all the various ways that people could miscommunicate, whether intentionally or otherwise. On the one hand, she considered it difficult, which was why plants were far easier to commune with. On the other hand, these barriers to proper communication could lead to very amusing, indeed, very entertaining, results, given the right exploitation of the usual reactions. For example, the previous self's comparison of her companion to this avatar of the Undergrowth. The… Bloomhound, as she felt like coining. <<Bloomhound. A charming epithet, this.>>And much as she understood the flattering description, the analysis that certainly reinforced the feelings this old self emitted, the appearance that she reflected. Most importantly, the appreciation for foliar kind that was truly something that made them kindred spirits, separated by a veil between worlds, but united at last. As much as she thought it would be amusing to be connected with this other Gardener and her associate ‘Coral’... ah, no. This other, previous self. This one who did not sow the seeds of Worldbloom in her own world. This… Misaki. Yes, a name she hadn’t thought of in a long time. As much as she entertained the possibility of becoming one with them, a little seed of doubt was sprouting in the back of her mind. How would she treat the Worldbloom? How would she bond with the others, least of all a Gardener? But as much as she could feel Misaki attracted to the open embrace of the Worldbloom, that which the Gardener herself exuded, she could also tell from the way her body moved, that she had her own reservations. Perhaps, this Misaki valued her own single person above peace. Perhaps there were differences in her perspective regarding this solution. Indeed, she had made it clear that she viewed the Worldbloom as dangerous. The very reason she wouldn’t dare allow the Gardener to cross this veil. Then perhaps, the reason why this Temple was so foreign, so resistant to the advance of the Undergrowth, was because it represented the channels between worlds. And this fallow garden, with all its unseeded pots, was its way of creating a comfortable, neutral meeting ground between these two gardeners. “That is a fair enough offer,” the Gardener answered. “We can see that you have your own designs for your world, your place in it.” ”This temple… cold. Unyielding.” the Bloomhound paced behind its Gardener. ”Overtake it… must we.”“We came here because of the disharmony it is causing on our end. But seeing as our world ends in this room, seeding it with the Worldbloom shall be enough.” It would take time to do so. Days, maybe weeks, of persistent advancement by the Undergrowth. In which case, as the Gardener, she would have to tend to it personally. Therefore… “Until that day comes, then, I shall tend to the Undergrowth as it advances to this endpoint. But for now, as you say… it is a good time to enjoy this moment of discovery about each other.” The Gardener opened her arms to either side, as if to receive tidings from heaven. From beneath the shadow of her skirt, vines arose, sprouting rather prehensile flowerheads of various shapes. Some in the appearance of pitchers, others like bulbs with orifices. Still, a number took on the form of seemingly ordinary sunflowers. Still, more vines snaked up around her legs from below, encasing her in a twine-like suit of living armour to cover areas of vulnerability. “We are both strong. No doubt, to have come all this way, through this malaise of a temple. I would like to discover then, just how comparable our strength is.” Her equipping complete, she held out one hand at her now would-be opponent, and gestured for her to come and get it. The Bloomhound roared in preparation for battle. WC: 701/2119 EVT: 4583 Misaki Kazamiya--- BATTLE TRACKER SUMMARY Natural PL: 8,582 Base PL: 8,582

"...I see." Misaki would finally state, as her counterpart kept speaking. she was happy, the smile illuminated on her face, to see that the bloom-hound enjoyed it's hastily coined name. She would have hated for it to have disliked the name. The-her-that-was-not-her spoke of disharmony, and Misaki smiled and shook her head with a slight shrug. "...As it so happens, the temple this comes from has caused the same trouble for us. Or perhaps not merely us alone. I've heard of many who have come to this place, only not to return... We've a united purpose, at least." As Misaki said so, vines started appearing as her ki reached a fever pitch, a golden aura appearing around her even as the floor started to shake. as opposed to her opponent's mastery of plants - no, Misaki Realized. that wasn't correct. Her abilities had changed from mastery to harmony. something of a level of synchronization that miss Kazamiya simply hadn't found a way to reach... Still. Perhaps out of interest of keeping the environment she lived in safer, her ki was noticeably lower than Misaki's. It lacked the certain... thing, that made hers so unapproachable, all while having such an easier time with her own plant-form- Misaki frowned. hold on. Was she... jealous? That... that couldn't be, could it? She wasn't jealous - she didn't get jealous! Her connection with plants was special - even if it was shared with, well, herslf, and even if it was... Misaki gave a slight sigh, banishing the willful thoughts to another corner of her mind. It simply wasn't how she was meant to be. Therefore, it... had to be rejected. Still, the idea of someone closer than she to the earth, the blossoming life around her... it stung. Even if it was herself. Closing her eyes for a moment. Misaki opened her own eyes, crimson orbs blazing. luckily, she had a place to put that misplaced irritation. Vines, plants, leaves, stems, thorns, began to form around her, vines and roots summoned to her as naturally as they always had been, as she quickly stood within a large covering of plant-life. Bulky, durable, but leaving little room for maneuverability... but Misaki'd never seen that much point in dodging in the first place. Coral, meanwhile, was looking over to the bloomhound at this initial exchange. "Do, uhh... do you, uhhh... do you just wanna play Rock-paper-scisso-" Her reply was cut off by the bloom-hound's roar, and she leaped back with a frightful yelp. "Okay! Okay! You do not want to play Rock-paper-scissors! I get it! I got it!" [433 words] BATTLE TRACKER

The Gardener smiled as she saw Misaki Kazamiya sprout her own assortment of vegetation. In a possibly infinite corridor of worlds, it was leafwarming to see that at least one of her other selves was truly in tune with the plants. Who could understand the peace they brought, and the language they spoke. If there were any doubts before, they were completely erased now. They surely were kindred spirits. And though she might have been alone, it was admirable, in a way. To continue to pursue the understanding and companionship of the verdant despite their differences. Not that she would wish such loneliness on herself, but in a world where the WorldBloom was not deemed to be completely necessary, other avenues of establishing friendships could be made. "Your foliage is impressive, Misaki," the Gardener noted the sheer mass of her growths, a veritable shield of a garden. A stark contrast to her own lithe, flexible companions from the Undergrowth. Even where they were similar, they were different. Truly a moment of discovery about the many ways one could bond with the verdant. She curtsied. "It's nice to meet them. I give them my deepest respect as they step up to this challenge." While most would consider it a matter of play, it was more of a skirmish. Plants were going to die in the service of their respective symbiotes. As such, it was only proper to give them one's respects before the beginning of the duel. The Gardener didn't even lift a finger. Her plants moved to her will. Her thoughts. A mass of what appeared to be mistletoe clinging to the end of a vine surged forth and exploded, the brilliant red pieces showering over Misaki's personal jungle. Would they take hold? Only time would tell, because it wasn't quite done yet. Multiple vines snaked out from her shadow, each one intent on restraining a portion of the extremely dense foliage, even as some attempted to dig deep enough to strike Misaki herself. A number of sunflowers conglomerated in front of their Gardener. The petals on each lit up in a quick clockwise succession with bright yellow solar energy, transmitted through the universal connection of the WorldBloom. A brief moment of delay as the last petal shone, before the centre of the flower heads fired off what essentially looked like little suns. Meanwhile, the Bloomhound, after its initial roar, got back down on all fours and tilted its head in curiosity at the Coral girl's cut-off question. "Rock-paper-scissors. We unfamiliar. Explain to Us, will you?" Just like that, it sat down and dropped its offensive stance, tail wagging. Perhaps it understood that this was not a threatening combatant, and that things were better off actually going with her suggestion to play this... game. Misaki thought she was more than ready for what her copy would say next, but she couldn't have been more wrong. Instead of giving Misaki the usual speech she was used to, which, perhaps she shouldn't have expected from herself, she was instead seeing her plants being shown the proper respect. A sigh fell from her as she brought a hand forward, not one of anger or sadness, but satisfaction. If plants were to die today in this context, it was good to know they would not go unforgotten or unmissed. for once, she finally, finally had another being who could see in them what she already did... though, of course it would be that it would end up having to be herself, even if it was a different herself. Still, she'd never expected to meet someone else in her life who truly would, so she supposed the best thing was to count her blessings - this temporary connection being one of them. This form could not curtsy, but as the vines above the face opened up, she gave a slight bow of her own, confined as she was. "and I, to yours. Your control is impressive... as is their agility. It's really changed, how these little ones work within your world, hasn't it?" Still, as the face mask closed, and the mistle-toe struck her body, she winced... the flowers cut deep into her outer body, Holding her down, draining the energy they used to keep Misaki going. she could supply it with some of her own, and keep their power somewhat going, but it was going to be a constant drain on her ki until it fell... already, she could feel the plants within begin to wither. The Vines, however... For a moment, her doppelganger's vine attack struck cleanly, The Plantlife wrapping around the great beast, as the sunflowers unleashed their own power. Misaki found herself unable to move as the strikes seared her plant's defenses... And yet... Misaki took a second, quickly feeling out for Coral. She appeared to be handling the bloomhound, distracting it a bit. She didn't know how, but that was good. she was out of the way. That meant... That meant Misaki could show her full strength without a care in the world. "...If this were a contest of technique, there would be none. You clearly have quite an understanding of your plants." Misaki would say, the voice amplified from within the great vegetative beast... Before it flexed it's arms, slammed it's feet against the ground, and pulled itself from it's initial bonds with a show of force. "Well, since you've shown me something of true artistry... it's only fair I show you my work." the plant beast focused itself, plants loosening, as the vines and thorns shuffled, loosening, and revealing something hidden in the vines... with a simple gesture from within the plant, Like a conductor, beautiful golden ki shapes appeared, uncannily resembling the petals and seeds of a flower, now filling the air like an avalanche of floral artillery, but simply spinning, slowly, waiting in place... The reason why was obvious, as the plant's head opened up to show Misaki within, arms raised to her side as beautiful sunlight encompassed her form in a solid sphere of energy. Sweat poured down Misaki's face as the conditions her doppelganger had inflicted her with took their tool, but Misaki nonetheless focused her rapidly sapping energy and took a breath. her eyebrows were scrunched up in concentration, and her slightly more canid teeth showed as the effort took it's toll. With a simple gesture, Misaki yelled "Solar Axis!" As the Golden sphere Was flung from the Plant-golem, the sphere widening to several times bigger then the gardener itself, and ready to explode on impact, a trio of explosions quickly following with the main blast even as the petals flew on cue, hemming in the opponent from every direction. Meanwhile... "Okay, so... Rock, uhhh, beats paper-wait, okay, sorry. Paper beats rock, because the paper wraps up the rock so it can't do anything. The Rock beats the scissors because it crushes it and that breaks the scissors. And then the scissors cuts paper like it usually does, 'cause that's what scissors are for. You... don't actually cut them though, that's just implied with the finger shapes. you just throw them out, and... Hmm. You, uhh.... you don't have fingers, do you? Oh, boy..." Coral asked quizzically. [739 words] BATTLE TRACKER Misaki is Struck by demon eye! Crippled! halved ki and HP regeneration! Cursed! -3 ki a turn -4 HP/turn total from Demon eye.
