Inventions are human. They are guarded and secretive yet willing to change. Yasu got a strange call as he headed home about one such magic invention from a group of fighters called the Orange Star Alliance. They begged him for help because a rather invisible mercenary was gunning down wizards from the same village. The reason being a guy of some renown called Wit was staying there and had recently rediscovered a strange "V" shaped rune that ignored physics laws and bound power or magic to his body that stopped bullets or other metals dead in their tracks. If this got out, a small bit of the old fire arms industry might nose dive. The martial artists wanted it to succeed as less bandits could prowl the farmlands here if such a thing existed, but someone was trying to stop him by forcing him to end his research.
Wit was a gentle soul who hated to see people die, but something odd compelled him to go on with this project. A dangerous desire for perfected body armor! Yasu, being who he was, wanted to help. He proceeded to the village right away but got a different idea of the young man the moment he saw him.
He wore a large hooded coat with black coat with golden embroidery and matching black boots. He had on a tan trousers and a white shirt, but as he greeted Yasu at the door his deep brown eyes and white hair were a mess. He said, "Hello," to Yasu before mumbling, "They must survive... they must survive..."
Yasu noticed the rune in question was sewn with stitching into the general spot a breast pocket might go. It glowed an eerie red color as though it was made of blood. One other thing that was weird about the place was that on his way in everyone was inside. Whoever the gunslinger was let him step into the village but did not let people wander about in or outside it.
Robin ushered Yasu into his home but all that was inside it was a sewing machine on a table at the back, a few notes piled up on it and another table in the center of the room. Yasu sat in the chair across from Wit and questioned, "What is going on here?'
Robin slowly plopped himself down and cried, "They must survive! My test subjects are dying!"
"Test subjects?"
Yasu thought he was helping a nice wizard, but did the Orange Star Alliance may have just done a deal with a bad mage. "What type of subjects?"
"Villagers... with my lovely coats... She-she murders them and steals the fabric!"
"Are you upset she's hurting them?"
"Yes, because she has my one true prototype that bonds man, machine, soul, whatever you wish to it! The one true mark of my life's worth!"
"Life's..."
"Worth!" he screeched slamming his fists on the table. "The thing that can start to tell us if can command and control other beings like the monstrous demons of old! And, in doing so, gain their powers to stop or defeat anything!"
"Just for research purposes?" Yasu voiced stoking the man's rage suddenly. He banged the table again.
"The ultimate application of armor we can control to block everything! We can move up north, wear it, and not have to rely on Saiyans or those people in the West to fight demons. We humans can stop them without rigorous efforts." He calmed down and breathed slowly stating, "But that mad woman is coming... she let the rune's desire to protect her consume her. It only wants her alive now and it wants all the pieces I have on everyone in this village."
Yasu watched the man groan in pain as he touched his chest. He felt a damp, evil presence disappear for a second and a new softer voice stat, "Stop her... Then stop me..." Something bad was definitely wrong here. Had thee people here rediscovered a part of the legendary "Demon's Mark?"
Yasu shuddered and went straight for the door. He intended to stop what was here. The Orange Star Alliance clearly wanted to end an evil threat. Outside the door Martina le Pang arrived and stood by a tree at the edge of the town. She sported her usual white tube top, brown slacks and tan colored balgha. She eyed the distance with her brown eye but sensed no one arriving yet. "Master Rou, I have just come but nobody is here yet."

A thin plume of smoke slithered into the sky, above the thick forest across the mountainside. Visible from the village, it was now a familiar warning... Another one of Wit's creations, and its previous wearer, cremated by their haunted gunman. It's a requiem. The sniper gently tossed the enchanted patch into the flames. For a moment, the fire crackled with purple sparks; but then, it was silenced. The magic drifted into the clouds, like a passing dream. A song for those who didn't make it.This fire would be an obvious signal - so, she hefted her rifle, and slipped into the woods once more. The battle wouldn't end, just like that of her homeland's; Until Wit was dead. Or, until she was dead. ---------------- As Martina and Yasu regrouped at the village’s outskirts, they would soon be met with Wit’s latest ‘test subject’… well, or rather, the person wearing it. An (understandably) uneasy young man, with a frail and meek build; the fringe of his black bobcut didn’t do much to hide his nervousness. He’d clearly take a moment to glance between the duo, trying to decide who he ought to be addressing. Finally, though, he’d settle on Yasu. ”So… you’re the battle mage, right? I never thought one would ever come here… eh, well, once upon a time, I thought I’d become such a star, but – err, after all this, I think… I’d rather not dabble in any more fighting!”He paused there, looking away awkwardly… ”Um… you know… assuming I survive, and stuff…” admitted the boy quietly, before hastily trying to put a fake smile back on his face – ”N-Not that I have any doubt in your skills! But, I’ve been so rude – I’m Theora. I’ll be your bait for today. Please take good care of me!” He offered a deep bow, clearly unsure of just how respectful he ought to be… and, swiftly turned to give Martina the same attention; only then realising he’d completely overlooked her. ”You’ll have to excuse my cloak’s poor fit…” And, he wasn’t kidding – the rune-engraved cloak slung over his shoulders went all the way down to his knees. ”It was originally made for one of the older hunters here, but… well, he was hit, just like the others. Err, but, see, he survived. So far, there’s been seven of our village who’ve been attacked. Four made it back… three were not so lucky. That gun can’t be matched by our amateur fighters, and in these forests it’s near impossible to track a sniper like that.”He gently stepped aside, and waved towards the forest – thankfully, the mountain’s undergrowth wasn’t too dangerous or inhospitable, but the canopy was quite thick along the valley the little village was settled in. Up towards the cliffs on either side, it was a lot more clear… but, no doubt they’d be in the killer’s territory if they took that route, and they’d be more exposed just like the hunter. This could easily end up as a bit of cat-and-mouse game… ”This could be pretty dangerous… but, I’m sure a talented magician like you can sort something out!” His enthusiasm was – shallow, but at least he was doing his best! ”S-So… so, with the two of you, I’m sure everything will go fine! What’s your plan, sir? I’m happy to act as your pathfinder; I know the forests and their wildlife pretty well. But as for anywhere you might be able to get a drop on such a poacher… unfortunately, most of the clearings are pretty small. There’s a few bluffs and cliffs that might be decent positions, but we’ll probably get attacked on the way unless we’re really sneaky. Otherwise… w-well, I guess the most straightforward plan would be to hunt them in return! Just… follow the smoke, eh?”[634/1385/4000] Yasu

Yasu eyed the boy and his rather large cloak. He followed him into the forest as he waved him down and continued on and on about the forest, himself and the situation. He really sounded meek compared to Yasu but was similar to a fog horn. He even drowned out the presence of Martina whom had to be reciprocated a short bow from the ebony haired. Yasu marched behind him and whilst he did Martina clung to Yasu suddenly and whispered, "I don't love this boy." "I don't love this job," Yasu remarked to her. No matter how this went Wit or his bounty might be dead and the people were caught between it all. He stared up at the high mountains as they headed up the trail where the obvious smog pillar was but then rushed to grab Theora's shoulder. He pulled him with some force trying to get him behind him and told him, "Stand behind me I have a shield. You just pretend to converse with me and we will draw them out." He raised his arm and a pulled a buckler made from hard steel out from under his coat. It was something made by a small Capsule Corporation rival as it did not have their huge "CC" marring it. He would slap it to his right arm and fasten it making sure it was tight then glance to Martina at his side. "You are not fast so do me a favor and stand behind Theora, but fall me." Martina gave him two thumbs up and showed love for this idea. Hiking and possibly getting selected as human bait were not her favorite ideas as this girl was a princess. Chiu, a woman whom Yasu had traveled with before, sounded more up to that task. "So Theora, tell me, am I a pretty woman? Do you have attractive lasses in your part of the world sir? Or, would you woo me right now?" Martina voiced trying to spark up conversation with him and also understand why he might have ignored her. Yasu, in the meantime, shifted his head side to side and stepped slowly over rocks at his feet in the forest canopy ahead of them. All this time he had his shield raised in front of his face, which covered it. Natural Power Level: 3562 Word Count: 1138/1772/4000 Tags: Maxine

While unaware of what Martina whispered to Yasu, the show of secrecy clearly made Theora all the more nervous… still, he’d try and keep his spirits high as they set off. He was on edge the whole way, though, unsurprisingly – and just about jumped out of his skin when he was hauled behind Yasu for cover! ”Y-Yes sir! That’s – I can do that!” squeaked the poor boy hastily, cowering just about on command. He’d try and settle down a bit as he watched his comrade prepare himself, but he was unsurprisingly uneasy about how things were going. Still, he’d try and straighten his back and calm down further… yet, even that seemed hard as Martina gave such a wild conversation starter!
”E-Eh? Err – I’ve had bigger things on my mind right now, I’ll be frank!” replied Theora swiftly, baffled by the question; but he’d soon get the picture and just try and go with the flow. ”Ah… well, don’t get me wrong, you are pretty… but, there’s someone on my mind already, you see.” Making such an admission would usually be pretty hard, but with total strangers to his village – talking about that sort of thing ought to be safe, right? ”There certainly are wonderful ‘lasses’ even in this corner of the East… or, at least one. Do you know much of the Ox-Corp Foundries? They’re supposed to be a rival of Capsule Corp. I’ve heard of them, even all the way out here… they had a representative out here, apparently doing some journalism or something on local martial artists. Ah, a-and, well… she was good company, I guess I’d say…”
Though it was clearly an awkward subject, the boy seemed to regain his composure now that his mind was on something else. While the terrain was certainly a bit rough, Theora had no trouble with it – for all his meekness, his pathfinding might be handy. Thankfully, though, things looked like they might get easier… they soon came across a small clearing, and the steep incline relaxed considerably in the surrounding area. ”I’m not sure what your magical style is, but… this is probably the best and worst territory. A sniper can’t ambush us if they’re out of the treeline, but we can’t possibly defend ourselves if we’re in a clearing, either. Err, well, aside from your shield, of course!”
Pausing in thought, Theora would interrupt their marching line a little as he couldn’t help talking strategy again. ”They’ll come to me, right? So maybe we should set a trap… but, that’s their style, too.” Glancing around, he’d suddenly offer a little smirk. ”See? Just like this.” The boy would slowly saunter to the edge of the clearing, along the treeline, and point out a rock… no, not a rock. At a closer glance – it was some sort of mine. ”We can’t really compare to technology like this, all the way out here. But, I can at least say I know how it works!”
Taking a few steps back, the boy scooped up a log and awkwardly tossed it onto the device – it didn’t even offer a click before detonating; releasing a puff of smoke. Or, not quite smoke – within just a second, it flash-froze a small area around it; coating the surrounding bushes and tree trunks with frost. Theora seemed quite pleased by the demonstration… before immediately losing his confidence. ”E-Err! I… probably shouldn’t be setting off traps while we’re still undercover, should I? Let’s hope they didn’t notice, or make a hasty retreat…”

"Is that so?" Martina stated facing Theora and placing her hands on her hip. She stopped and impeded the path while Yasu went out on his own to find the hunter for a moment. She could see him from the corner of her eye while listening to Theora. "Oh, Ox-Corp, you have a girl there? I believe Yasu's shield comes from there, no, one of their business partners. Anyway, I am glad you love us 'east girls'. I come from there, but for reasons similar to your own I live in the south." Yasu wandered on further ahead but did not seem to find anyone at all. He beckoned them with his right hand and let the group catch up allowing Theora to interrupt the search with strategy. Yasu did not believe he would have any good ones. His suspicions on this felt right as Theora pointed out a problem with the grove they were in and a trap he found within the edge of a clearing. The place was indefensible for sure, but Yasu thought he could have it work until Theora threw a log at the device and detonated an ice bomb at their feet. Yasu and Martina jumped away from it cowering on the ground. "Hey, what was that for!" Yasu screeched before rising to his feet, "If you want to destroy the forest just let me know. I only focus in damaging or destroying things most of the time." He brushed off his sweat pants and let his hands glow blue with magical ki then proceeded to spin in a circle throwing explosive blasts into more of the trees around him. Martina hopped out of Yasu's way and stood behind Theora. "Yah! Yah! Yah!" Yasu cried heavily, "Yah! Yah! Yah!" The energy hurtled through branches and hit trunks blowing them away. Soon, anything within thirty feet of Yasu started to disappear as the forest receded to give away flat earth for this hero. Some of the ground smoldered and if the bounty hunter was nearby they would know their little trick upset the magus. He panted after leveling the forest and screeched more, "Come out! I can flatten everything here and kill you in the act or we can fight fairly!" The effort he put into smashing the forest into bits forced his brow to sweat. He did not want to deal with someone who played with land mines. That was a trick from the play book of ruffians. They were the type of people expected to harm him badly in hi so-called "determined" death. Natural Power Level: 3652 Word Count: 426/2783/4000 Tags: Maxine

”E-Err, well, ‘have a girl there’ is – maybe an overestimate…” awkwardly replied Theora, albeit leaving it at that. The remark of ‘East girls’ made him all the more bashful, but he was wise enough to just brush it off for now. And, right on time, too, as Yasu beckoned them forward, and Theora was given the chance to put on his little show.
Suffice to say, Yasu’s swift – albeit very understandable – snapping for his tomfoolery made the poor boy jolt all over again. He began to splutter apologies, but any words he might have offered were promptly overwhelmed by the barrage of energy blasts! He went prone immediately as he was showered with twigs and bark… but, after the storm he’d poke his head up. ”Not a scratch… this cloak really is impressive…!” remarked Theora, a little in awe – but, he’d promptly cower again as Yasu offered such a challenge to their hunter. ”I-I don’t think a sniper is ever going to offer a fair fight, personally…!”
The exposed ground revealed plenty of bugs, lizards and small mammals that scampered from the carnage; but it also revealed more of those mines. Thankfully, most of them were set off by the shrapnel from the barrage, but no doubt more were hidden away… they’d have to be wary if they needed to duck for cover or move in for close-quarters combat. Theora was fortunately more cautious as he made his way to the receded tree line for some cover, and didn’t end up frosted over. But, as he peeked around a tree trunk, the forest lay still… maybe Yasu and Martina really would have to flatten everything?
But then – even after the storm, a flock of birds fluttered into the air not far from them; only now stirred from their nests. At first, it was faint, but the sound of thundering steps rang out. Was their target getting in close? Not quite – with a hiss, a feline beast jumped into the fray. A mountain lion… and a big one at that. Was it trained? Or just haughty enough to defend its territory even against such a show of force? It slowly prowled across the expanded clearing, confident enough to not bother sneaking up on the trio…
”Ah… well, that’s not quite the hunter we’re after, but… this one’s at least a little less violent.” murmured Theora, seeming to recognise the animal. ”Be careful – it’s a Yao Cougar. It might not look like much compared to a gunman, but it has some ki abilities… it can move faster than a bullet. Maybe we should just retreat from its territory; they’re not too aggressive. But, well… m-maybe it might be a good warm-up? Or, since it is still just an animal – do you have any spells that could spook it?”
The beast stood amongst the ruined trees, watching Yasu intently with its golden eyes. It seemed on-guard, but not exactly on the prowl. Still, if it was as fast as Theora said, it couldn’t be underestimated.

"In that case, you should see her anyway." Martina remarked to Theora whilst giving him a thumbs up. She was remiss to notice Yasu as he got angry but in the midst of the explosive tantrum he threw she dived near to where Theora lay and from the ground she lay on protested, "What was that for?" Yasu gave her no mind for a moment as Theora got up and pointed out the mountain lion that bounded in to range. He glared into its eyes and answered Martina with, "I was going to draw out our bounty hunter, but I only understand three ways to do it. One, pretend I am and the target and hide the real one. Two, level the playing field so they cannot hide. Three, make the target my hostage and threaten to murder them as one would in the movies to make the hunter feel hunting their prey's a waste of time." He swiftly pointed to the loin and said, "I did not expect that to show up here!" Martina stood up and raised hands in the air in frustration. Magic yellow circles formed around them when she did and in that instant two wands fell into her hands. "Sir, I can get rid of the mountain lion I believe but it will not bring the murderous cretin out. Also, your suggestions are inadequate as they have not brought us any closer to them. I would definitely not recommend that last one though. The hunter might just shoot Theora from afar and thank us for easing their burden." Martina told him. Yasu raised his left hand to rub his temple slowly as he felt the lion might well pounce if he too quick. He continued to stare at it before hearing Martina chant near him, "Muscles, oh muscles, so fine and divine grow inside this body of mine." Yasu turned his head to watch what she might try and witnessed a woman shorter than him begin to bulk up. Her pants tore down the sides as both her thighs and calves bulged. Her abdomen followed along with her chest and shoulders until she appeared to have gained twenty pounds of extra muscle in an instant. "What is that?" He gasped at her letting his jaw drop. "A muscle enhancing spell. Hopefully, I can use it to pound the lion's face off and scare it away." Martina explained as she stepped away from Theora and in front of Yasu in the blink. "Shouldn't I be doing that? Theora, you agree right? This is just a waste of time too. We should be running and you are also stealing the show." Martina lowered herself into a fighting stance. She had never done this before, but perhaps she might survive and attract the hunter by pummeling this wild threat. The person must have understood they were here by now as they could easily see them here and be choosing not to react. Her whole body shook as she said, "You lost the privilege to be the star of this show today by inviting nature to fight us instead of our quarry, stupid master." With that, Martina focused her mind and the wands she held disappeared. It was some form of rapid materialization. After this, she charged the beast and would fire off what appeared to be a weak punch with her right fist. In actuality, if it hit, the poor kitty might feel the full force of a passenger car slam into it. This was the limit of Martina's forceful strike but with it the power would surely stop this big cat and make their hunter come out. Whether or not she hit or miss though poor Martina would shrink back down to normal size and be exposed to the claws of pure, majestic animal. Yasu still could not believe she was going to do this. The killer would likely see her obvious, "secret" ability and now find it smart to avoid it. He readied an energy blast and aimed at the lion just in case she did not succeed. Death was not something he wanted to see on the menu, especially since Martina still had secrets to tell him about his mage family maybe and was only recently hired to deal with "lion attacks", "bounty hunters", "alien invaders", etc. Deep inside Martina's heart her blood flowed a mile a minute as she launched a slow moving fist towards the lion's head while still running quite a few feet away from him. She had yet to close the gap on the creature in spite of her super sonic speed shown prior. This was because, well, overuse of it just ended the power up faster and if she used that type of running speed again a poor, normal Martina would be tossing her at a fine diner. She prayed this stupidity would draw out the hunter out of concern and cause them to fight them for real. They might just have the heart to save a rash maiden in trouble. This is what one got when people threw two inexperienced bounty hunters into a mess. Finally, the smoke had dispersed, and her mind was clear… yes, now it was easy to track her target. She’d had them in her sights for a while, but now she could be sure – that was the mark she was looking for. Just a kid… just more fuel for the fires of their war. She couldn’t afford sympathy; for her homeland was relying on her. But… she wasn’t ignorant of his escorts. As if she could be! They were so noisy. She wanted to take her time, and wait until they were exhausted. She wouldn’t fight at night, but when the sun began to set, she’d go for the kill. Even if she only managed a wound, she could let them bleed out overnight and finish things in the morning. As if they’d slow down a professional like her… her bolt caster would be more than enough to finish this mission. …huh? A shooting star – during the day? She’d spent so long under stone and steel rooves… maybe it was just some weather phenomena she didn’t know. It didn’t matter to her hunt. She just had to… …it was getting closer. Was that ---? ”Kyaaa! W-What… what – a lion –?”...she cursed internally as she saw all their heads turn to her position in the trees – ugh, so much for her cover. But, as if anyone would have a reasonable response to that! She levelled her rifle, and lowered her scope’s magnification – things were about to heat up. ---------------- Theora felt like… he had a lot to say, especially about that part about the third plan – but, well, there was just so much whizzing by that he could barely get his thoughts in order, let alone any words in order. Yes, speaking of whizzing by… he’d had high hopes for Yasu’s magical powers, but it looked like it muscles were plenty to make a miracle happen. ”I never knew cats could fly…” murmured the boy weakly, staring off into the cloudy sky – but then, an unexpectedly feminine squeal would ring out from the trees. His eyes followed the noise, and caught the glint of light reflecting of glass… ”S-She’s there! She’s there!” shouted Theora, pointing out their hunter – as if she wasn’t already obvious to the team. Thankfully, he’d then give a better show of intelligence, and immediately go to ground; throwing himself prone and finding cover amidst the trees. ”Err – I’m leaving the rest up to you, okay? All I’ve got is a coat…!”Their foe was on the opposite side of the clearing to them, on a slightly higher hill; amongst the trees – but, not deep enough that she was invisible. Wearing a camouflage shawl over what seemed to be an set of odd leather armour, she was clearly built for stealth. In a straight-up fight, they ought to have the advantage. But, her rifle was still pretty scary at this range – it didn’t look like a modern weapon, instead appearing like some sort of steel musket. Some sort of custom weapon… still, given what they knew so far, they could assume it was similar enough to any other sniper rifle. Of course, she didn’t offer any words to them – but, the way she settled onto her knees and lined up her rifle ought to say it all --- [552/552] With the bounty word count reached, please roll your Initiative (or edit it into your previous post if you prefer); and we shall begin! "Whew! That was close!" Martina cheered as she sent the lion hurtling into the air. Martina's body returned to normal whilst Yasu remained on guard. Yasu heard the eminent scream of a woman and when Theora pointed them out the young mage was sure he had found his quarry. The woman in question sat atop a small crest in a pileus and earthy clothes, no it was a camouflaged shawl over her head, but either way she carried a dangerous rifle and spy glass/scope today. Once Theora spotted them he departed for the trees. "They never needed to move because they could always see us." Yasu thought. Fortunately, the mage had a plan! Close the gap and use a few tricks in his old magic hat to win. He did not have his sword, but he would use his shield, his magic, an Martina's help to win. Also, stuffed in the folds of his gym clothes was a robe that enhanced his natural ki's capacity. On top of that, his lucky or cursed coin that linked him to Yoi and let him survive was in his pocket today. He had this n the bag so long as she had only what he could see on her; the tools of a regular huntress. "It's not nice to hunt ordinary people or mages," Yasu said as he raised his shield to eye level. "They might fight back." The taunting didn’t earn a response at first – instead, the hunter was busy lining up a shot! But, with a hiss of smoke from her gun’s barrel, it looked like they were saved by a jam of some kind… one of the woes of her particular kind of rifle, and a big issue in such humid environments as this. Forced to spend her moment replacing the barrel, her eyes constantly jumped between her weapon and her targets. She didn’t have much time to spare, it seemed! She wasn’t hopeless in close-quarters, but…! Staying in a straight line probably wasn’t ideal with a sniper on the loose, but Yasu’s reasons for it were probably wise – and, to his credit, no further mines set off as he began to approach. However, the poacher was clearly not about to let him charge in either. Once her gun was repaired, she tossed her cloak over herself, and for a moment it seemed like she’d vanished… but, Martina might be able to feel the truth of it – it seemed like the apparel was actually muzzling her ki in order to help hide her presence. In truth, she’d taken off into the undergrowth, doing further work on her weapon and trying to make some distance. Maybe this might end up as a second game of cat-and-mouse. At the moment, though, the girl was just fixing her specialised scope to match her prey and the change in distance… it’d definitely pay dividends when she turned her gun on them again. She just needed to lead them on for a bit longer, and then she could spring her trap…! Yasu charged up the hill as though he were driven by a powerful force out of his control. When he reached the though, he saw nor felt no sign of his foe. She had slipped away. Martina came to the top of the hill though and shouted, "Yasu, are you blind? What are you doing? She ran into the bushes!" The girl then put her hands on her knees and started to pant heavily as though she had never exercised in her life. She slowly pointe to them then. It was natural for this to happn since the Rou family never exercised, until Yasu that is, they stored up fat as children to complete their first half of magic training then used that fat to increase their magic abilities well into adulthood. Her slow demeanor and sluggish form all meant she was in the first half of this training, and not much use in a prolonged fist fight, yet it allowed her to see things others did not. One such thing was that their target slipped into some brush nearby beyond the hill. A true family mage of the Rou family, such as he, should have been able to spot that. Yasu remained on guard as his power surged beyond what the huntress's fighting form might offer. He remained calm though because if Martina was right she could ambush them again. He had never fought with anyone other than Chiu so he did not have a clue how well he could trust this apparent servant. The young man passed the tired Martina a snare grenade to use. Then he focused his mind and aimed an energy blast at the trees he assumed the evil woman went into before firing it. The trees splintered a little as it whistled ahead of him trying to hit its target. After this, he would let his body flare up with flames and his feet charged after the blast hoping to incinerate a straight line of tree growth as he headed towards his possible goal. Martina used a moment to consider, "You want me to lob this in after you," she pulled the pin on the grenade and loosed it into the air in Yasu's direction. It would erupt into a large net but probably not hit the target she wanted. -- Stats & Abilities

So far, things were… not ideal, but not terrible. It was clear to Rhyo that her quarry weren’t ready to handle a hunter like her; as the comrade of the ordinary mage fell down to a crawl. She was used to running cross country for her nation’s training… she’d lose them in no time. A plan began to come together as she skulked away… she’d lose the extra load, then put a bullet through this mage; before cleaning up afterwards. Much better than being caught in a decisive battle. She just had to get out of this sticky situation in one piece, and line up a good shot… And it looked like they weren’t ready for such a moving battle, either. A blast of energy blew apart some trunks to her side, obviously missing their real mark… so, she quietly sprinted over. They’d no doubt choose a new target, and soon lose her entirely. Standard tac– ”Hyaaa! S-Shit, shit – augh!”Rhyo had not exactly been prepared for her cover to set ablaze; frying her along the line! She tossed herself to the ground to try and extinguish the flames, but the pain of her burns already set in – and, things just got worse. Her dive was clumsy, and she landed on her rifle’s receiver… which, combined with the heat, managed to set off the charge inside the gun! With a loud crack and the scent of gunpowder, she was left with an additional injury, and an unloaded main gun… dreadful, just dreadful! She hastily went to ground again, trying to escape their sight again – but the scorched undergrowth didn’t offer much solace. Fortunately, she got to cover in time to avoid the net that was blown towards her, though. It wrapped around some of the canopy harmlessly… though, only a few feet from Rhyo’s actual position! Fortunately for her, though, they were moving into her territory. As Yasu stormed forward through the path he’d cleared, he’d feel something solid under his feet… and it wasn’t a log. With a familiar hiss, there’d only be a moment before the mist was dispersed and then flash-froze. Would he be able to slip through in time? Either way, the hunter heard that tell-tale noise like it was a church bell… maybe she’d have a chance at a recovery after all! She drew a small handgun from her hip; and fired flurry of white-hot laser fire in the sound’s direction. The autopistol wasn’t anywhere near as menacing as her rifle, and its accuracy was equally unimpressive, but it’d at least buy her some time. After laying down the suppressing fire, she opened up the casing of her rifle and began to try and clear the misfire. A tree exploded in the woods as an energy slammed into it. Then Yasu's exuberant through the woods razed a forest on both sides of him. He could not find his target still until she screamed out in pain. It was enough to distract him and touch something his feet would not love. A hiss escaped below his sneakers and released a freezing mist that chilled his legs turning them to ice. He tugged and tugged at the solid ice sculptures below him and with what little strength he could muster pulled himself free. The wizard's legs vibrated under the duress from the frost and he was unable to move as an energy bullet blazed past him. He faced his shooter only to have one nearly graze by his left arm near his heart. "I need to warm up and chase my target," he thought. He was able to see her not too far from him trying to crawl on the ground. Her body appeared to have been charred but was not on fire. "How unfortunate," he called out, "I was going to bring you to Wit half dead and burnt to get my pay, but if you struggle I am going to have to really hurt you with my associate." He bounced up and down before bellowing, "I am coming for you!" His body flowed with power as his natural blue aura swirled about it turning slightly purple from his mixed in "Strange Power". He felt confident as he ran towards the huntress and proceeded to aim for her spine or stomach by stomping on her twice. He wanted to bruise her bad or put her out of commission for nearly hitting him. Far away from him Martina chanted gibberish about swelling muscles and wanting to be Yasu's special one. She vamoosed up across the open, cindered clearing and with a smile on her lips swung around from behind Yasu and aimed for Rhyo's right side with a buffed up leg attached to a huge, thundering thigh. "Let's beat this huntress up!" She cried. Every inch of the sluggish girl's body had grown. This gave her the same power akin to when she clobbered that previously fearless mountain lion. Yasu gazed at her strength and sighed he was concerned in the moment that she might miss with her clumsy strength, or tear through her current clothes. They needed clean hits against this mouse lest she escape their sight again. -- Stats & Abilities

She couldn’t be sure if her mine was successful or not, but she’d been wise enough not to gamble on such things – more than anything, it was just a good signal for her as to where to fire. But today, it didn’t seem to do her any good… her spray of gunfire didn’t seem to slow down her prey one bit! And so, while she tried to unjam her gun, she was caught out – glancing up at the taunting, she saw Yasu close in with that colourful aura. She almost yelped again, but didn’t get the chance as the boy’s foot came for her face… w-was he planning on curbstomping her straight away?! How uncouth. She’d show him some manners… e-eventually! She had to dive away to avoid the abuse, and things only got worse as the mage’s comrade came storming in with a grand kick. That extra muscle was no use, though; and neither was Yasu’s sheer frustration. With her suppressing cloak on and with knowledge of the land, she was just too hard to catch amidst the foliage. Their attacks seemed so close that a hit ought to be sure thing, but they didn’t even grasp her cloak. Even her petite figure seemed like an obnoxious advantage in a fight like this… But, it really had been a close call, so Rhyo herself hadn’t vanished or anything. With a rustle of bushes, she’d give away her position again in her hurry. She’d unjammed her weapon, and refitted the sights; she was almost ready to fire! Turning around with her unwieldy rifle in hand, she’d use its scope to aim while she actually fired with her sidearm; bracing the machine pistol against the longer firearm’s side as she held it sideways. The posture was ridiculous, yet she handled the recoil pretty well. More than that – it looked like she was aiming for Yasu’s face! Surely he could handle such a light weapon, but it might just blind him a bit in the meantime… another step in her plan to arrange a perfect shot. She was almost there… even at this range, she was sure she could pull it off. She just had to bring the barrel to bear with a little room between them, and then fire ---! Yasu still felt cold from her explosive mine, in spite what he tried to warm his body. Perhaps that explained how he missed twice. She was easy to follow because of her cloak rustling the bushes, but when she popped up again he did not expect her small body to be bracing that weird, large rifle and the laser pistol from before against it. She appeared to be aiming a single blast at him through a scope. He was not having that though. He moved the shield he had on right away into the blaster shot. His body stood on end as the shot veered through the top of his brown tuft, in part due to his blissful fortune and the tool's hard materials, but that left him barely unscathed.
"Oh source of the earth, metal of the eye, break for me please," he stated as he kneeled before Rhyo and offered a prayer to her scouter. She would possibly see the poor device go on the fritz or spark.
Yasu then attempted another way to assault her. He would remove the coat he had on, throw the jacket at her face and then blast a beam of mystic power at the thing, forcing the threads to lash out at her from afar. Whilst this happened he tossed a grenade to Martina who rolled the snare trap at Rhyo's fast legs.
"We have you now," she sneered. Yasu frowned at that thought on the note she escaped before. -- Stats & Abilities
