Appearance:
Anshen looks like a girl out of some dark prophecy, and according to some, she is exactly that. She stands at a measly 5'0" and weighs 100 pounds, but her tail is the same height as herself and is two thirds of her weight, making her weigh 180 pounds; it can also split into up to eight tails. She is a short, petite looking blue-skinned girl with ankle-length light grey hair. Her face is round, cutesy and almost childish, and her eyes are sky blue, more vibranmt than the rest of her body, with two black lines going down from them to her jaw. Her tail is black, with blue accents, and she has a single, blue horn jutting out of her forehead that glows depending on how much energy she channels. Her teeth are sharp and serrated, like a shark's. She wears an nonrestrictive black outfit.
Personality:
Anshen, to those that do not know her story, is an enigma. A seemingly aloof and absent-minded, yet proud girl, wielding her strength with confidence and self-assurance. However, at the drop of the hat, her insecurities rear their ugly head; fear of abandonment, inferiority complex, fear of attachment, and a desperate need to prove herself. Anshen desires nothing more than to amount to something in the eyes of others, whether it be a single valued person, or the whole world. She would do a lot of things if it meant getting someone's approval, and is very concerned with how others view her. For this reason, she'll go to great lengths to not upset someone. Unless they say or do something heinous, she's likely to keep quiet.
Anshen was taught to do good and direct her natural power to helping others, and that is exactly what she does. Having lived isolated for most of her life, she doesn't want anyone else to have the same suffering, or any suffering for that matter. She generally has faith that people are good despite being mistreated, and loathes any who would act deliberately cruel to others. Life is more valuable than anything, after all. Despite her perceived betrayal at the hands of her former master, Anshen is very quick to trust people due to her desire for companionship. She is also fearful of making connections, causing a lot of internal conflict for her, causing her to act in odd and contradictory ways towards her friends.
Despite several issues, Anshen will still make an effort to keep it all together, even despite her lack of control over her energy and her emotional state. No one wants a girl who constantly breaks down, after all. Her friends may need her.
History:
Anshen was born in the Western Lands, and with her, a dark prophecy that heralded the change of the Western Lands as they knew it. She was found as a little baby by the inhabitants of a small village and taken in. However, this kindness was short-lived; rumbles of discontent quickly spread among them, and it was only a matter of time before the little blue-haired monster girl found herself at the end of the village's superstition and fear. She was avoided, treated coldly, but was never once spoken a bad word of. Their fear was too great. Still, being ostracised hurt the then little girl greatly, wondering what she did wrong. There was, however, one saving grace for her. There was, nearby, a monastery home to a great school of martial arts. She decided she had nothing to lose by going there.
She was also rejected there. Her reputation had spread elsewhere, and they wanted nothing to do with her, but one master was kind enough to take her in and train her. There, she showed her potential for power, even if unfocused and uncontrolled. She was also confident in her strength, and with a desperate need to prove herself superior to her peers. This attitude was met with tough treatment, her master believing it to be the best way for her to grow. One day, though, she snapped. She attacked her master in a fit of rage, letting out all of her negative emotions at once. She was subdued, but their relationship was never the same. Only one week later, her master replaced her with another pupil, someone they called a "chosen one". It was a severe blow to her psyche, and she immediately left following that news.
With nothing else to do, and nothing for her in the Western Lands, she left. Travelling as far away as possible from there was the only way for her to cope.
RP Sample:
“W-What?”
She had heard him properly the first time. She knew this, knew what was coming, but the news brought to her was so incomprehensible to her that she needed to hear it a second time to be able to properly process it. It was the news she feared would happen all week long, she was…
“Starting tomorrow, you are no longer my apprentice, Anshen. Another student will take your place. Someone more suited to our teachings.”
Those were the words of her master. Those dreaded words that cut deeper than any attack that could ever be thrown at her; she had been replaced. She was no longer wanted here. Or anywhere. She was used to being unwanted, to be feared and avoided for who she was. No matter how much she desperately desired for companionship, no one would give it to her for who she was, because they feared an image of her. They pushed her away, deeper into despair.
But her master had been her light in all this darkness. Someone she’d come to rely on, even through his harsh words. He was the only one who even bothered to look at her for more than a second, to take her in and train her, honing her power to let her take control of it. For the first time, she felt companionship.
And now that, too, was gone.
This… no, there was no way this was happening. She wouldn’t lose him like this! Not again… not again!
“I…”
Her words stopped. She couldn’t find them, eyes brimming with unshed tears. It was as if she couldn’t properly express herself. No, she couldn’t. So, she did so in the only way she knew how in that moment.
“I HATE YOU!!” She shouted these words at the top of her lungs, her back all the way to her tail lit up in a blue energy, the horn on her head glowing as bright as it had ever been. She leapt at him, and struck, a ki-infused fist hitting him square in the face, but she felt… nothing. It didn’t connect, the figure of her master shattering along with the rest of the world, leaving only darkness.
She stumbled back, not knowing what had happened. Only knowing that she hated herself for what she’d done. Even as she sunk to her knees and put her hands on her face, the ghostly, broken figure of her master appeared and multiplied. All scolding her, all looking at her in anger and disappointment, as if all his harsh words came back to haunt her at once. Anshen didn’t know what to do, sitting there sobbing uncontrollably.
“I-I’m sorry… I love you…” Her words came out hoarse, but they were drowned out by the ever increasing shouts of the ghosts of her masters.
“Please… don’t leave me… I…”
“I need you…”
.
..
…
With a gasp, she woke up. What-!?
… Oh. It was a dream.
She looked around, the sun shining through the window into the small room of the hotel she’d rented for the night. Her memories were… hazy. She didn’t know the details, not now anyway. It was for the best, she supposed. Her mind was in shambles; she could only imagine what her mind had concocted to spring on her.
But she was stronger than that. She had to be.
