Savina was not much of one for holidays. That wasn’t to say that she didn’t enjoy them, but rather that she had never experienced them- meaning the hum-buzz of everyone shopping and displaying their cheer was little more than a half-annoying curiosity to her. She didn’t mind that everyone was so happy, but that they were so for seemingly no reason remained a bit of a mystery to her. Those that she had asked about the matter were unhelpful to say at the least, citing such things as holiday spirit and the gift of giving. Oddly, it seemed as though human culture particularly enjoyed having excuses to spend money on frivolous things for the express purpose of giving to one another. Having had never received a gift before, it was all nonsense to Savina.
What was not nonsense to her was the announcement of an ice sculpting event, wherein the winner would receive a rather substantial amount of money. Though she had no need for money to buy others’ extravagant gifts, the android could use that money for other important things… like survival, and… survival- yep, that was pretty much all that came to mind. Still, survival was important, right? Perhaps it was needless to say, but she quickly signed herself up for that event.
To her great surprise, Savina learned that she would be partnered with another individual, though their name and presence had not yet been revealed to her. After signing up and being given the basic rundown of the event’s rules, she was led through a large facility and into a ceiling-less room with a few impressive blocks of ice and a table full of carving material. The man who led her into the room took a moment to reflect over his checklist of names, then nodded slowly.
“Hm, yes-- your partner should be arriving soon. I’m sorry to inform you, but it appears that you’ll be working with a bit of a handicap. My information here is listing that your partner has a freakishly large temperature- like a super fever. We’ve been assured that she’s not actually sick, but…” he took a moment to look over Savina, realizing for the first time that her own clothing was rather sparse. The room’s chill did not seem to affect her in the slightest- perks of a mostly robotic body. “... I guess the temperature difference isn’t something you’ll be worried about personally. Not sure if her not-fever is high enough to actually melt the ice faster or anything, but I’d be careful if I were you,” and with that, the man departed.
Of course, the description of her would-be partner was curious to Savina. Someone who was running a massive fever, but was not actually sick? Potentially hot enough to melt the ice itself? The phenomena itself was probably more interesting than that whole ice-carving event-- but Savina reminded herself to keep her eyes on the prize. If her partner was hot enough to possibly melt the ice, that could maybe be worked to their advantage. She could work to re-freeze the ice constantly while they carved, and perhaps they could come up with something that a constantly melting, constantly-steaming hunk of ice lent well to!
