The day was sunny. Kite woke up in his room, which he has to himself. His siblings stopped sleeping with him recently because within two years, he will become an adult. Kite went in to the bathroom to wash his face. He looked at himself in the mirror. He sighed and said
"Well, the house is pretty quiet for a change, what's going on?"
He went in the living room and saw a note on the table.
"Huh, what is this?"
He picked it up and started reading it.
Kite didn't really have a problem with this, as Nero told him some weeks before that he would leave, but he would be left behind. He went into the kitchen to eat some cereal. That didn't take too long. He opened the windows in the kitchen to let in some sunlight.
Man, I need some fresh air.
He walked outside the house and realized that the mailbox had something inside of it. He took out what was inside of it. It was an envelope.
"Huh? This must be for Nero."
Kite, with a confused look on his face, opened the envelope. He realized that it was an invitation to Oolong City. He was speechless when he saw what was on the invitation.
"1,000,000 zeni?! Between two participants?!"
He stared at the invitation for about two minutes, drawing the attention of passers-by to himself. He started having thoughts about what he could do with the money. What he wanted for himself was his own vehicle.
I actually have a chance here. I have done carving before, even though it's ice carving, it is similar.
He was pretty happy that he didn't have to pay for any expenses to get there, because he only had money to keep him for a few days. He went inside the house with the invitation in his hand. He didn't have much to do, so he just turned on his television and sat in his couch. An advertisement talking about the same thing he got the invitation for came on, saying that the games will be broadcasted live on television.
"Oh, so everyone will see me on television? Nice."
It was twelve in the afternoon, when Sonar started to pack his clothes in Nero's suitcase. He was planning to borrow it and then tell him before leaving the house on the phone. After that, he went to the bathroom to take a thirty minutes bath, because he wanted to feel rejuvenate before leaving. After which, he got himself dried, brushed his teeth and got dressed. He wore a red shirt, with black pants, and his favourite white sneakers. He also grabbed a sweater, incase the place is extremely cold. He went in the living room and picked up the phone to call Nero, hoping that he would agree too everything, even though there is a high chance he will.
"Hello."
"Hey, father. Uhh, I was just wondering if I could go to… Oolong City?"
Nero didn't speak for about five seconds, the he broke his silence.
"I bet it's for that carving competition. Hmm, let me think.."
The suspense was killing Kite for the five seconds that he had to wait.
"Sure, go get that five hundred thousand zeni and get yourself that car you wanted."
"Thank you so much, father."
"Anything for you, son"
Kite picked up the invitation to read it thoroughly again. He finally befan to think about who he will do the event with. The first person that came to his mind was Beruto. He didn't have his number to contact him, even if the red headed teen had a phone, so Kite decided to look for someone once he got to Oolong City. He left the house, not forgeting to close the door. He sighed and said
"Bruh, I'm not at Oolong City yet, I'm just want to feel the air rubbing against my chest one more time before I leave."
With that said, took his shirt off, fold it neatly, and tucked it in his suitcase. He headed for the pick up spot, which was the park that he always go to to do his normal daily exercise. It took him about fifteen minutes to get there, especially since he walked slowly. He looked around to see if the helicopter that was supposed to pick him up was there, but it wasn't there yet. Kite went over to one of the benches and laid the suitcase on it. The teen stood there waiting for the chopper to come at any moment but there was no sign of it yet.
"I'm just gonna do a few push-ups before it gets here."
He went down in a crouching position, and then laid his hands on the ground, pushed his legs out in a normal push-up position and started his exercise.

It was a little odd, Beruto was certain he'd given Kite his phone number, in fact he could have sworn they traded numbers after thoroughly pounding each other into the dirt. Unfortunately it appears his phone had a mind of it's own and went and lost the other muscular boy's number. In an effort to try and resolve the situation and reconnect with his new friend, Beruto had been dropping by the same city park at around the same time in the evening for the past few days. Unfortunately his attempts to intercept the other teen had gone without reward, at least until today.
Running through the park earlier than his usual visits, Beruto spotted his silver haired, shirtless friend and jogged towards him. As he approached, the other boy looked to be getting ready to do a set of push-ups and so, feeling that Kite needed a proper challenge, crept up the remaining distance and sat on the other boy's back to make his push-up's extra difficult.
“Hey there Kite. Been looking for you. My phone didn't hold onto your number.” the red haired teen explained. Over the course of their exercise in the park, Beruto learned from his silver haired friend that he was on his way to enter into some televised ice carving contest and that of all things, a helicopter was on it's way to pick him up. He further learned that Kite needed and partner for the show and wanted Beruto to come along. Given the tremendous size of the grand prize, the shirtless red head readily agreed and before long they could hear the helicopter coming in just over the trees. Beruto had never flown before, much preferring to keep his feet on the ground and was reasonably so, a bit of a nervous wreck for the entire flight to Oolong City. Eventually the red headed teen fell asleep somewhere along the trip and before long they had arrived at the television studio for the contest, except it wasn't just a television studio, it was an entire sports stadium.

He went down on the ground and started his push-ups. He wasn't really paying close attention to the environment around and so when he felt that someone was sitting on his back he looked up.
"Huh? Oh it's you, I wanted to talk to you."
It was Beruto. As playful as he is, he spotted Kite doing push-ups and sat in his back, to give him some weight to lift. He started to explain that he was also looking for him, and that he didn't get a hold of his number.
"Me too, dude. I actually wanted to call you. You see, there is this contest happening over at Oolong City. An ice carving contest to be exact. Oh yes, must add, if you and your partner wins, then you'll win one million zeni to split between the two. What I am saying is, I would really appreciate it if you represent yourself as my partner."
Beruto gladly agreed and as he did, the helicopter that Kite was waiting on, came over them from over the trees. It landed in the open space in front of them and then a lady came out of it. She was dressed in a formal manner.
"HELLO! ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO BE GOING TO THE OOLONG WINTER EVENT?!"
The helicopter was pretty loud, so everyone has to shout.
"YES! BOTH OF US!"
Kite said referring to Beruto.
"OK! COME ON IN GUYS! MIGHT WANNA THINK ABOUT WHAT Y'ALL WILL CARVE!"
Kite shook his head in agreement and headed inside the helicopter, and both teens and the lady flew off. After settling in for about five minutes in the helicopter, Kite started to think about what they would carve from the ice. After a few minutes he turned to Beruto saying
"Hmm, if we want to impress the judges, we need to go with something big. How about Oolong himself? Well, sounds good, right?"
After about thirty minutes, Kite looked at the red headed teen and he was fast asleep. The trip to Oolong City took about an hour. They finally got there and then the woman said,
"Hey, does he have an invitation?"
"Well, not that I know of, I just asked him to be my partner for the event and he agreed."
"Well, that's a no."
She reached into her purse and took out the same coloured envelope that all the invitations where in. She woke the teen and said
"We are here, young man. Here is an invitation. You will need it to get inside."
She handed him the invitation and they all departed from the helicopter. When Kite looked around he could see slot if people outside of the arena, and inside too. He walked to the security to and then he said
"Welcome to the Oolong Winter Events. Invitations please?"
Kite handed the invitation to him and he checked it thoroughly. Kite got pretty bored of this routine, as you could see it on his face.
"Here you go, young man. And you too, sir."
He said, referring to Beruto. After which, he let both the boys go inside of the arena and when they did, Kite's eyes wandered all over the place.
"Wow. Hey Beruto are you seeing this?"
Then suddenly, big announcement came from a loudspeaker.
"THE GAMES WILL OFFICIALLY START IN FIVE MINUTES."
Kite walked over to the nearest seat and waved his hands to get the attention of the teen. He sat down and waited for the competition to officially start. He was pretty bored, so he turned to Beruto and said
"I'm not sure if you have done this before, but just incase, I'll start."
"So, how has it been over the past few days for you?"

When the helicopter finally landed and Beruto woke up, the red headed teen was happy to see that they had arrived safely. The young woman who had flown with them presented the boy with an invitation, something Beruto wasn't aware he needed. Being Kite's plus one, he assumed all he needed to do was show up. Instead it appeared that in order to participate in the ice sculpting competition with his friend, an invitation was needed. Thankfully their hostess was kind enough to provide the shirtless teen with one. Beruto didn't know anything about show business, so he was unaware that the two muscular young men were allowed to pair up on the televised competition to draw in more viewers looking for sex appeal. All Beruto knew was that he was about to be surrounded by snow, ice and television cameras. Hopefully it wouldn't be too chilly.
As they walked up to the stadium from the parking lot in which the helicopter landed, Beruto started to realize just how big this event was. Cars packed all of the spaces in the parking lot which had not been allocated to the still landing helicopters, and the stadium was absolutely enormous. When they finally did arrive at the gates, Beruto recognized the same type of sign in process which he had experienced at the tournament in Central City. It went considerably faster though since the staff seemed eager to get all of the contestants into the arena as quickly as possible. Kite was just as impressed as Beruto was with the sheer size of the event and expressed that to the red haired teen.
“Yeah, this place is huge.” the athletic red head replied as they walked along, looking at some of their competitors. As they walked he spotted a familiar face. Of all places to run into his fellow Shirtless Fighter friend, Beruto noted that Cade was on the stadium floor with another young man. The two seemed busy though so Beruto didn't bother the other shirtless man and continued to follow Kite towards the work area they had been allocated. This though brought to the fore a problem, Beruto knew absolutely nothing about sculpting, ice or otherwise. When Kite mentioned that he didn't know if Beruto had any experience in carving, the teen could only look on and shrug.
“Yeah.... I'm sorry, you probably should have picked someone else.” the red haired teen replied. “You want the crap kicked out of someone, I'm your guy, but I don't know anything about this. I'll carry the blocks around if you want, but I don't know what to do with the ice.” he added and looked at their work space, feeling helpless. Kite though didn't seem as daunted as he was and looked to be diving right into their work, going on to casually ask how he was doing after their spar a few days prior.
“Ah well, my stomach still hurts a bit but I'm getting better. Going to totally flatten you next time we do that though. How about you, how are you and your puny ass muscles doing?” Beruto joked and put on a double bicep flex just to kid around with his friend. This of course was met with an uproar of cheering from the audience, so Beruto grinned and started posing for them as well, finding his role in this event to be more that of the mascot for the team while his equally muscled companion worked on the ice. Taking to that role quite naturally, Beruto did his best to be entertaining, leading the crowds in chanting, cheering and even a somewhat poor attempt at starting a wave. Before long though the shirtless boy had the audience cheering and waving with him while Kite worked on the sculpture.

Apparently, Beruto didn't know anything about carving, and said that he shouldn't have asked him to go with him. He volunteered to carry the blocks of ice, and that would basically be it. "Don't worry dude. A lot of people are here that doesn't know how to carve, but they still came to win the money. Since I know a few stuff, at least pay attention. I'm not gonna do all of the work."He also said that his stomach is okay after that sparWith that said, after the five minutes were finished everyone went to their working stations. It was extremely cold, to be fair, so he decided to put on his jacket, but still revealed his chest and abs. He looked at the tools for a few seconds, then picked up the chisel and the large hammer. He roughed out Oolong's four legs, with him standing upright, his arms tucked in his shirt pockets, his ears and his snout. He left a large amount of ice in the top of the pig's head so that it would be easy to carve his hat. It took him a good fifteen minutes to do this. He looked around, only to see the teen, showing off his physique and entertaining the audience. "Hey, pay attention! I'm not doing this by myself!"He said, trying to get the attention of the red headed teen. "Ok, so I'll work on his lower body, and you clean up his upper body, ok? Yes and by the way… that is the pic I'm referring to that poster carve Oolong."He pointed at the posted inside of the stadium, to show Beruto what he was carving. He started finally started the hard job, the detailing. He laid the chisel and the large hammer down and pick up the small detailed pick. He started with his hoofs. Well, shoes really. This part was pretty simple, really, as he just put in the few lines to show the outline of the shoe's collar. That took about five minutes. He then went further up, detailing the pants that he's wearing within a ten minutes time span. He had already roughed out his legs in the shape of a normal pig, so he just simple carved it so that it looks like he is wearing pants. It was a tiring procedure, so Kite needed to take a break. Fortunately, he was finished with his part of the work. Then something came to him. I need a little break. Then he looked at the ice shavings for a couple seconds then said. "Hey Beruto, do you mind getting some syrup for me. I guess we could make a little snow treat for the both of us. We are gonna use the ice shavings. By the way, I hope you were looking, because it's your turn. If you weren't I suggest you look at what others are doing."He waited for the teen to go and get the syrup. WC: 497 | 1979

Beruto's entertainment of the audience seemed to be going well, although Kite seemed to be less interested in putting on a good show and more in carving a giant pig. The silver haired boy seemed to be under the mistaken impression that Beruto had an eye for the details he was trying to charge him with taking care up, which of course, if it came to tractor and truck engines, he did. Ice though was another story entirely. If it didn't have an engine, a set of wheels and a seat, he was a little useless. He did divide his attention a little though, peeking at Kite and his chiseled form, as well as the statue from time to time. During one such glance, the shirtless teen was surprised to see Cade had left his work area and was paying he and Kite a visit. The Silver haired boy though was too busy to take note so Beruto greeted his fellow shirtless fighter himself.
“Hey hey! Cade! How are you doing man?” Beruto greeted the other shirtless man, taking note of the bottle of cherry syrup the man was carrying. It turned out that Cade didn't have much to say, other than to pop over and say hello, wish him good luck in the competition and give him the more than half empty bottle of syrup. “Yeah, I have no clue what we're doing, I'm just following my partner's lead. I'll see you after the competition.” the red haired boy replied and accepted the bottle.
With Cade returning to his own partner, Beruto turned his attention back to Kite and the block of ice. It was starting to look sort of like the picture of the pig man that the other shirtless boy put out. The features weren't quite spot on, but apparently now that was Beruto's responsibility, a grave mistake on Kite's part considering Beruto's inexperience. When the other athletic teen asked about the very bottle of syrup he had received from Cade, Beruto handed it off and then looked to the now suddenly intimidating block of ice and the alien tools he was going to have to work with. While Kite was enjoying his frozen treat, Beruto was sweating bullets and that didn't help matters as the shirtless teen was starting to get cold.
“Damn, you've got to be kidding... I can't do this...” the red headed teen mumbled to himself as he stared at the impossible task before him and then all at once the television cameras and many thousands of eyes in the stadium were no longer comforting. Starting to shiver, partly from the cold but mostly from mounting anxiety, Beruto slowly approached the unfinished sculpture, looked from it to the tools and back. Then picking up an ice pick in one hand and a hammer in the other, the boy looked for a piece which needed to come off in order to make the mass of ice look more like the picture. Placing the pick against the facet of ice, the muscled boy raised the hammer and swung.
CRASH!
It was as if time it's self froze, Beruto stood there in utter disbelief as he watched the upper half of the block of ice shatter into a thousand glittering pieces. The inherent beauty of the suspended, glittering crystalline forms was lost on the horrified boy as he could only see the exploding mass of ice as one thing, his complete failure and the ruination of any chance Kite and he had had of winning the competition.
“No... no no no no no! Damn it!” Beruto yelled as the ice crashed to the floor. Dropping the ice pick and hammer, the red headed shirtless boy turned to look back at his silver haired companion with an expression that verged on being about to cry. “I'm sorry Kite... I ruined it...”

"Thanks for the syrup. Now work on the ice sculpture and I'll make some this snow treat."
He turned his back away from the teen, hoping he was actually watching him, and he knows what to do. He picked up some of the ice shaving and poured some syrup on it, and munched on his little snack. He checked on what Beruto was doing, but he wasn't doing anything. He was just staring at the sculpture.
"Come on dude, if you were looking at what I was doing, you could've gotten this. Just look at what others are doing. And remember, we are working for that one million zeni."
Not long after he started to make the red headed teen's little snack. But while doing that, something happened.
CRASH!
Kite eyes started to twitch, as he wondered if it was his sculpture. He turned around slowly, with a neutral expression in his face, only to see his masterpiece shattered into piece. The raged was was clearly shown in his eyes. He took looked back and forth at the pieces of ice and and Beruto and then said
"How could you? HOW COULD YOU?!!!!"
His anger took full control of him, making him unable to control himself. This is the first in a long time, that he has gotten this angry. He fell to his knees, holding his head, as if he was in pain. Then suddenly, his holy white aura appeared and danced around him violently. The crowd went quiet for a few seconds seeing how Kite reacted to the whole thing. Beruto apologized, but it seemed as if Kite tuned out everything he said.
"I'm gonna- Aaaah!"
He rushed at Beruto, with his first pulled back, attempting to 'drill' his stomach so hard, that he might become unconscious. Reaching at a really close distance, he launched his fist, aiming it at Beruto's vulnerable stomach. But, his fist stopped a few centimetres in front of it, and something came to his mind.
What am I doing? What am I thinking? If I do this….
His thought was left right there as the holy white aura that lingered around him dissipated and he walked to the stands, hoping that Beruto would follow, and if he did, he would surely apologize to him about his behaviour.

Beruto was truly sorry that he had destroyed the ice statue Kite had been working on. More so than the embarrassment of having done it, was the guilt he felt about ruining their chances. So it was no surprise that when Kite reacted with anger, Beruto just stood there and prepared himself for the worst. As the other shirtless teen barreled in at the muscled red head, Beruto looked away and even closed his eyes, spreading his arms to give Kite a clear shot.
He was standing there ready for Kite's fist to fold him over, to feel the other boy smash his navel through his organs and into his spine. To double up, his chest smacking against the other boy's equally muscled body, his chin coming down to rest on Kite's sculpted shoulder, the breath to escaping from his lungs and for his strength to evaporate. He was all set for his friend to lay him out and he would have let Kite do it, after all he had ruined their chances at winning the competition. But the punch never came. Opening one eye and peeking down the length of his muscular torso when he felt the slight breeze caused by the other boy's approach, but did not feel the impact, Beruto saw that Kite had stopped his attack barely an inch from his rippling abdominals. So close was the other boy's fists to his stomach that Beruto could feel the Kite's aura tickling his skin as he stood there for a moment, reigning in his temper and rethinking his rage filled choice to punish him physically. Truthfully Beruto would not have minded if Kite had hit him, their friendship was a very physical one and they did punch each other quite a bit to begin with, so taking one in anger from the other boy really didn't bother him that much.
Opening both eyes now and looking back to his friend, Beruto could see Kite regretted almost flattening him. The other teen though calmed himself though and proceeded to abandon their work station, heading to the stands to watch the others remaining in the competition. Looking back to their station, Beruto stopped to grab the near empty bottle of cherry syrup and a big scoop of ice shavings and followed after Kite. He figured the least he could do was bring him the makings of another treat. Following along into the stands to join the audience he had been entertaining just minutes before, Beruto sat down next to the silver haired boy and offered him the snow cone makings.
“Look, I'm really sorry I broke the statue.” he stated with a bit of a sullen attitude. But then a smile started to creep across his face and he put his arm over Kite's shoulders. “But thanks for not knocking me into next week buddy.”
