Ahri had been invited formally to the grand event, discovering that she was invited to an ice sculpting contest. One with a handsome grand prize of one million zeni. She skimmed through the letter rather quickly after she read the amount, now feeling an immense sense of relief after she restrained herself from tossing it in the trash. She didn't believe it at first, but she really had been invited to an event like this. She got ready for the day quicker than she ever had before, as quite a chunk of the morning had already come and passed at the time. It was an interesting experience travelling in a helicopter. Seeing as how the only other ways she's ever travelled before was on foot, on regular road vehicles, and that one time she fought a criminal on a train. That was definitely one to remember. The height at which she was flying at amazed her, and made her think and wonder about all of the martial artists who have mastered the art of flying, or more specifically, the Sky Dance Art. She never had any real desire to learn how to fly, but it was only now that she realized just how quick it was when compared to walking. The woman already knew flying was faster, just not..... by that much. Eventually, the helicopter landed on the roof of the lavish Hotel Z, and she practically tumbled down the hotel's stairs to get to the playing area of the contest. Once she abruptly arrived, she was confronted by someone that was probably one of the overseers of the event. "Welcome. Please present your invitation, and uh, if you don't mind me asking, where's your partner?"Confusion briefly shrouded Ahri's expression as she handed the letter to the other woman. "Partner?"She reluctantly opened the letter and reread it, only now noticing the few words she missed. "Oh damn! Uh, hang on a bit..."She looked around the place wildly for a bit, searching for someone, anyone really, that she could use as a potential teammate. By a stroke of sheer luck, she noticed a certain person she'd met before a little ways from her current position. "Yooooo!"She waved her arm frantically at the man, hoping that he somehow didn't have a partner for himself yet.

The Duke Luciferius, Duke of the House of Satan, was... not here for the contest, actually. Well, yes and no. In truth, he did receive the invitation to partake, but he did not think that much of it - what interested him instead was the hotel where the contest was supposed to be held. Hotel Z was certainly a lavish place and the Duke of the Pig Demon Duchies knew what he was doing when he brought some of the greatest martial artists from all across the planet here. While it was certainly not as illustrious as Satan Mansion, the Duke still had an eye for good interior and exterior design.
Wait a hearty second! The Grand Dukes of the Pig Demon Duchies, Oolong and Yajirobe... didn't he hear rumors somewhere that they personaly knew the greatest martial artist to ever grace the surface of planet, Mr. Satan himself, personally? To somehow gain their audience and thus be able to find out all he possibly can about his ancestor would be an honor, and it all by itself started to change the Duke's opinion about this event. Perhaps, if he can find a suitable partner and enroll in this contest, he could draw the attention of these two venerable monarchs and thus receive their audience?
Like a stroke of luck, his hopes began to fulfill themselves right before his eyes. A somewhat familiar voice suddenly called out to the Duke from behind, and when he turned around, he witnessed a tall woman, with whom he had already joined forces before, running up to him. The letter in her hands, the same one which he received, and her frantic attitude all betrayed the reason why she might be in this exactly place as him in this exact moment, and for what reason.
The towering Earthling warrior pushed his sunglasses upwards, allowing a glint of sunlight to reflect off their pitch black glasses, and grinned.
"Young woman Ahri! And your next line will be... WOULD YOU LIKE TO PARTNER FOR THE OOLONG CITY WINTER SPECTACULAR?!" he declared. "To which I preemptively respond... YES!"

Thankfully, it seemed as if Duke hadn't come here with a partner himself. How grateful she was. The great man shouted rather loudly, declaring that he agreed to the partnership. She turned back to the other woman she spoke to before, and raised a tiny little finger at Duke. "Teammate. Right here.""How convenient for you...""C'mon, Duke. We have a sculpture to build. Or uh, carve, or sculpt. Or whatever it is they do."And with that, Ahri marched off towards one of the large blocks of ice that rested in one of the sectioned off areas. The overseer was idly rereading the words on the letter she had seen so many times before, until something hit her. "W-Wait! What's your team name?! What's- ugh, to hell with it!"Anyways, sooner rather than later, the duo would be trying to answer a rather difficult question. Something that probably would've been answered a very long time ago by someone who was actually prepared. It sounded simple, but at the same time, had an endless amount of possible answers. What exactly were they going to create? An ice sculpture, of course, but what would it look like? Considering Ahri's considerable lack of experience when it comes to things like these, they might need to think a little bit outside of the box. "Say, uh, any ideas? Like, what exactly are we trying to make here?"She voiced the question to her teammate, and she would probably be content with pretty much anything he said. She cared about winning, but she didn't think what it was would really affect their chances. As long as it was exceptional, she would be satisfied with the end result. So, she decided that whatever Duke felt like sculpting, they would sculpt. It was kind of the only thing she could do, given her distinct lack in creativity.

Ahri was clearly a woman of action rather than words - she did not even act surprised when Duke Satan announced that he knew what she was here for, and simply went back to the registry in order to point him out as her teammate. While not the most glamorous of martial artist types, the greatest fan of Earth's martial arts could at least respect the rationale behind it. And, besides, a story of many warriors needs not just glamorous showmen and overacting weirdos, but the calm, no-nonsense types as well, in order to make the first two look even more awesome!
After swiftly dismissing a question about their team name - which disappointed the Duke, since he already had four or five ideas on that, but he did not object - their duo swiftly moved to the field of ice blocks for some good old statue building. At which point they were faced with the greatest dilemma of the day - what is their plan? As in, what exactly are they going to build?
Ahri had no idea, and thus turned to the Duke. Relying on the Duke to create ideas for statues, one of the classic blunders.
"Hahahaha! There is only one thing which we can build! Let me tell you a story, young lass!" the towering Earthling declared, tapping on the large ice block with his hand. "You may be powerful. your friends may be powerful, but neither you nor them nor anyone on this planet will ever compare with the greatest martial artist to ever grace this world, Mark 'Hercule' Satan, himself! His achievements are legendary, you see! In his long career, he won the Tenkaichi Budokai eleven times, saved humanity from evils such as King Piccolo countless times, and eventually, at the end of his career, ascended past any ordinary normal to achieve the godlike transformation I only know of as... Super Satan. What I am getting at is... my ancestor was great. And..."
The Duke winded back his fist, ready to begin sculpting.
"THERE WILL NEVER BE TOO MANY STATUES IN HIS HONOR!"
