Tiger Lily was channel surfing the television set installed in her mother’s former room in the penthouse apartment her Uncle Toad Lily inherited after the passing of her grandparents. Back at her home island, she did not have a television set, it was important to her parents that she remained focused on her studies, but after giving up on her education she immediately became addicted to watching everything on television. Especially endless reruns of Emperor Pilaf cartoons and his wild adventures searching the earth for the magical dragon balls. Some nights she watched so many episodes minutes before sun rise that her Uncle would scold her for abusing her privileges of having her own room outside of her parents household without supervision. An advertisement of Oolong City appeared inviting the world to join in on a winter event, more specifically, to enter to win one million zeni. The days of working odd jobs would be over if she won the contest and finally be able to complete the dojo she was building with Achido for some serious training.
“Yes!” Ty leaped out of her bed, wearing Emperor Pilaf pajamas, and immediately scrambled to find her c-phone to call Cayle about the contest. Without letting him answer she immediately hung up and dialed the phone on the screen to contact operators located The Pig Demon Duchies city offices to coordinate her trip from the Southern Islands to the West lands. The customer service line representative gave her all the information she needed to use an app on her phone to schedule a pickup directly to Hotel Z by going to the South City airport, and everything for her to go with Cayle was set in place.
It was her first time flying without having Cayle to carry her, the city lights of Oolong City were glamorous, it almost looked like Pilaf land with exception of brighter neon lights, and illuminated Casinos in the distance. The buildings were shaped like pagodas, shinto shrines were all over the streets with cascading steps leading up the hillside streets winding towards the Grand Duke’s Palace which was the largest structure in the City, and by the looks of things it was the city that never sleeps. Large billboards, some largely animatronic, while others were colorful with neon lights, advertised several businesses and their locations with bold numbered coordinates to find them. Billowing smoke clouds were erupting from restaurants from the constant food preparations to feed locals and tourists alike. Upon arrival she could see that everyone wore robes, kimonos, hakamas, and other Western Land clothing that looked quite intriguing ot her. Tiger Lily wanted to own a beautiful kimono almost instantly but if she wanted to save up zeni, she could not afford to make lavish purchases, unless she won the grand prize which made her even more determined.
“Cayle put your knit hat on, we got to get in there, just look at all that beautiful shaved ice dunes, it looks like fun, that is probably what snow looks like in the Northern Lands, isn’t it?” Ty was so excited she was bouncing on her toes, eager to get closer to the open air arena, and dig through it like she had been digging through sand and dirt never knowing what snow was like. She was comfortably prepared wearing a black puffer jacket, navy blue jeans, and black lace up boots that reached her knees. On her hands were orange knitted mittens and she had faux fur ear muffs to keep her ears warm. When they were near the state, Iris Aardvark pointed at them and announced their arrival.
“Attention everyone, Orange Crush has finally arrived! Cayle Pota, Vice President of Taco King Restaurants - found conveniently throughout the Southern Islands and with new locations coming to the Southlands, Westlands, and Eastlands soon….” She narrowed her eyes at the handheld computer tablet she was reading from, the camera had a feature to use face recognition based on the registration information entered at Hotel Z, and continued to speak into the mic with great enthusiasm, “With his partner Tiger Lily Kalabasa of Kurido Martial Arts Training Dojo, Southern Islands. Good luck contestants!”

Cayle Pota, son of Pota Potaset, long in his line of Saiyan peasantry, was not the type who you would expect to be good with snow. He had no experience with it, given the nature of his upbringing and his time of torment at the hands of the Tuffle Science Executive, but none the less the nineteen year old Saiyan would-be warlord found himself on the Southern Sea Island known as 'Durian Island' after having been sent there on a delivery mission. This one had been one just for the purposes of helping the people out and he had been contracted by the South City government and several corporate entities through the auspices of hiring Taco King to do so. He had brought three shipping containers throughout the day to them, filled with supplies and packages they had ordered, as well as correspondence which couldn't reach them because the ocean water for miles around Durian Island had been frozen by a cold snap.
He had been tense on his first few flights over, suspecting that someone like that Witch girl, Lilith, had something to do with the freezing of the island, but after he had finished the mayor of the island revealed to him that it was a natural phenomenon which had just come about a little earlier than they were used to and Cayle was paid for the deliveries, where the payment for the goods had already been made electronically. The Saiyan former farm boy would have likely taken off after that, shivering as he was now that his body was not in movement, but the people of Duriantown invited him to eat lunch with them and to join in a game which occurred during the first of the major snows each season.
In the process of this, he had learned how to make snowmen, how to make snow balls, and how to throw them. He had almost decimated the town in the snowball fight before letting the children in town win, and after that went on his way- but not before having the town's tailor give him a nice orange leather coat and and gloves and having had it explained to him that when dealing with the cold one might get frostbite if they let their hand touch the cold without any shielding.
He had received the call from Tiger Lily when he was preparing to take off from Durian Island, and then she hung up on him. He almost thought as an Earthling might, that it was rude, but after a moment he just took off from Durian Island at maximum speed and jetted towards South City, through its skyline, and to her house.
After he had found out about it, he went shopping and bought a suitcase and the necessary clothes (as described by Carlos Alfonso) for a trip to Oolong City for this contest. Then he had carefully folded and packed them, before traveling with Tiger Lily to the city in the mundane, human way, going so far as to use the identification card he had been issued by the South Island governmental authority after Carlos Alfonso pulled some strings for Cayle and the other Saiyans to get them proper identification.
So Cayle had followed Tiger Lily to the arena, looking at the city and taking the sights in, both surprised and not surprised by some of the sights -Oolong City was a popular setting for Martial Arts movies after all-. He was silent though, watching for threats or possible threats as he and Tiger Lily moved about the region, and he did not bother to let up until they got into the arena and were lead to the entryway for contestants. Then he unzipped his leather jacket and adjusted the bright orange tie which he was wearing under his dark grey and light blue suit, before tying his orange-brown combat boots tightly and then adjusting his pant leg. When they called his name, he was out the door and looking about. He had never seen this many people in one building before, it was somewhat a new feeling, the energy that welled up in him.
The Saiyan former farm boy was dressed in orange-brown leather combat boots, a grey and light blue striped business suit, an orange-brown leather jacket, orange gloves, an orange tie, and an orange hat, though he did not see the point of this knit hat that Tiger Lily had insisted on and he fought the urge tot take the hat off before walking with Tiger Lily to their assigned area and beginning to roll balls of snow as he had during the “Snow ball fight” but larger, to fit the snow building sculpture they were hoping to construct.
“So what are we building again for the contest?”

“Emperor Pilaf and the seven Dragon Balls, just like in the story book. So start rolling some of this ice fluff!” Ty smiled, scooping up some of it and tossing it up in the air to let it back on their clothes. “I think the key to this, is to form a small ball and roll it across the field until it’s about the size of a beach ball, I don’t think we need the proportions to be accurate, I actually want to make Emperor Pilaf five times larger so it stands out. It will look amazing. I brought some colored dyes and buckets of ice water inside DynoCapsules so we can color the snow with sponges. I didn’t expect you be dressed...so finely. I am worried the dye will transfer to your clothes so I will do that part, okay?”
Ty grinned as they began to work together rolling around balls of ice fluff, to represent the dragon balls, and form the round body of Emperor Pilaf at a height of seventy two inches to stand from the field at six feet. Once the form was done, they split off to make the details, Cayle would carve out star shapes using a large cookie cutter, then using a spray bottle the ice water dye over the balls carefully to color them orange, and then use a small sponge brush to red dye the star cut out shapes red for all seven balls. While she formed the details of the face, she put on rubber gloves to sponge dye the snow blue for the skin, and dye Emperor Pilaf’s clothes according to the story book, wearing a crown on top of a stripe patterned skullcap, a puffed neck collar, tunic, and balloon style pants. In no time they were done in about half and hour working collectively. The event staff cleared the buckets out of the way to make sure no one ran into them.
“All done! We should take a selfie together so I can send it over to my parents, uncle, and Achido--” Her ocean teal eyes widened, “Oh no! I forgot to tell him! He will increase our chances at winning if he entered. I forgot, I was so excited, that I did not tell anyone but you. I hope we win!” She pouted as she dug her phone out of her pocket and handed it over for Cayle, “You arm is longer so you can hold it up...higher. Actually, if you fly us in the air you can capture the whole sculpture in the background.”
She hugged Cayle’s neck tightly so he could hold her with one arm and hold the camera with the other. “Okay, ready.”

Cayle Pota, son of Pota Potaset, himself son of Potaset Potaset, himself son of Potaset Onio, who was himself son of Onio Pota, who was himself son of Pota the Proud, was not an expert with the sculpting of snow. In fact Cayle had never even seen it outside of pictures before he had arrived here on Earth and specifically before his mission to the South Sea Island of Durian. It was needless to say as such that the Saiyan let Tiger Lily take the lead on this particular endeavor, but he did not simply sit there, instead showing considerable skill and attention to detail when he worked on the Dragon Balls, making the proportions match what they should be in comparison to both each other and to Emperor Pilaf himself. Even with the coloring of the snow he did not get a drop of snow on himself, and indeed through a careful proceedure he was able to dye the stars in the middle of the dragon balls red before dying the rest of the dragon balls their correct color of orange. It was careful work but by the time he was done he was somewhat winded from the sheer nerves and when he Tiger Lily instructed him to take a 'Selfie' of themselves and their snow sculpture he almost dropped the phone, but after a few moments steadying himself and floating in the air over their sculpture -something which made a good deal of the event goers in the stands gasp at the sight of it- he snapped seven pictures, one for each of the seven dragon balls. Surely there would be at least one good one out of the entire group of them.
“What do you want to do as we wait for the other sculptors to finish their projects, Tiger Lily? Are you sure this is the type of event where we don't have to patrol around our work station to make sure someone would not try to sabotage it?” He had heard of such topics in competitive food competitions, after all.

“Oh, well, I don’t think anyone would be that callous to destroy our cute Emperor Pilaf sculpture, would they? Event staff are doing a good job keeping an eye out, the white rabbit sitting on the ice throne looks formidable and quick enough to punch anyone who tries, right? Since we’re here do you want to look around? Maybe find some of the people we met who are also at this event?”
Tiger Lily took her phone back from Cayle’s hand, hovering in the air next to him like it was second nature, and sent the best picture to her parents, uncle, and Achido. While she waited for the saiyan to answer, she sent an apologetic text to her best friend for being forgetful about entering the contest, especially since they needed the zeni. With a sigh, she put the phone in her puffer jacket, a bit disappointed at herself for being so thoughtless lately. Most of her personal problems had been time management, she occupied herself with so many tasks, that she was having trouble keeping up with everyone on a social level.
“Ah! How do I get down on the ground again?” Ty started spinning in mid air, still not used to her ability to fly, and beginning to panic.

Cayle was never going to get used to the fact that Tiger Lily was so prone to using her cellular phone to send things to everyone like that, and even as she let go of him. The Saiyan hovered in the air beside his red headed companion, and shook his head slightly. “Yeah, just because he could stop it doesn't mean he would. Oolong City is somewhat renown for being corrupt when it wants to, after all. So we need to be on our guard, though it shouldn't be much of an issue. I arranged for Konja, Jack, and Achido to all come along with us, signing them up for the contest as well.” Where Tiger Lily was a busy bee making friends and fluttering about like a social butterfly, Cayle never stopped thinking, and he had immediately realized that between the five of them they had a more than double chance at winning the contest for their collected group.
“You get down by stopping the spiritual energy flow around your body... and I suppose by thinking thoughts which would lessen your mood. To fly is to experience thrill, after all.”

“Ehhh?! You been to Oolong City before and it was bad?”
Ty began imitating zero gravity as her ki energy was out of control, she was upside down, wide eyed, and unable to relax.
“You act like a bird knows how to fly once it tries. Well I am flying but I am not in control here. If I let go of my ki I am going to have to figure out a graceful landing somehow or else I might break something important.” She took off her glasses and handed them over to Cayle along with her phone. After their last training session such possessions were instantly shattered. With a sigh she hovered for a bit and then released the ki as instructed. Moments before she hit the ground she sky rocketed up again even further than she was before screaming as she released her ki and descended into a free fall. Finally, she stopped before hitting the fluff ice, and released her ki to fall a couple of inches into the cold shaved ice layer of the field.
There was nothing exciting about flying if she put herself in danger. It would take a lot more practice if she subconsciously kept flying and the other times she managed to fly long distances were without putting any thought. The more she thought about it the concentration was instantly lost when she panicked and it seemed Cayle failed to notice her problem. As she sat up from the ground she felt that using all that ki gave her quite an appetite.
“Do you want to try some of the spiced apple cider that they were serving in the hotel lobby? We don’t have to wander anywhere beyond if you think it’s dangerous. Better to be safe than sorry.”

Cayle Pota, son of Pota Potaset, was many things, but one thing he definitely was not was a mind reader or a licensed psychologist. So he had no way of knowing Tiger Lily's feelings or concerns, had no way of knowing her hyperactive personality had driven her into flight like a Hummingbird in comparison to Cayle's own steady flight like an Osprey. The icy blue eyed Saiyan watched her go but did not interfere. If he saved her from everything she would come to resent him for doing so, and it would make them look foolish if he actually jumped to her aid for anything but catching her after she had begun to fall. Mundane people had so little knowledge of the mechanics behind spiritual energy powered flight that they had no way of knowing that she simply could not control it, and there would be no reason for them to join Tiger Lily and Achido's proposed martial arts training school given the lack of mastery their potential 'martial arts master' possessed.
“I haven't been here but I do read the news, Tiger Lily. There have been a rash of attempted murders, explosions, and the like here. And Oolong City is a favorite setting of martial arts movies, so of course I've seen that there can be corruption here. But it doesn't matter. If someone does end up trying to destroy it, we can make another if the judges don't catch them first. But such an assault would require an energy build up, so so long as you keep your spiritual energy sense opened, we should be fine. How is Apple Cider different from Apple Juice? Or Apple Jack?” he had tried both drinks and did not enjoy the disorientation that happened after drinking a bottle of the second, which the other cooks of Taco King had thought hilarious, even if they could themselves only handle a glass of it before feeling the same way.

“Uh...I fall asleep watching those martial arts movies, they are in black and white most of the time, so it makes me sleepy due to my poor eyesight.” Ty explained as she got up on her own accord and snatched her glasses back and c-phone securely in her black puffer jacket. “In truth, I have been catching up on all the Emperor Pilaf episodes that have been running for the past four hunded years. A total of twenty thousand eight hundred and fifty seven episodes that I need to catch up to. Fortunately they are all in color and ten minutes long but the Pilaf Land television station re-airs some of the same episodes as a marathon twenty four hours a day.”
The orange haired teen grinned, she was an absolute fan of such a childish cartoon, and it was mostly because she was not nearly an adult. In fact, Toad Lily had to sign a consent form to allow her to be present in the event, and trusted that both teenagers would behave despite his absence in his niece's upbringing. Ty appreciated that she was allowed to be responsible for her own actions, despite feeling that she only kept commiting mistakes, and has been learning from them as best as she can. Rather than wait for Cayle to say anything else, she took his hand in hers, and led him back to the Hotel Z lobby to drink spiced apple cider.
“I generally like fruits, except tropical ones, oranges are my favorite honestly. Just the most basic of mainland fruits. Bananas are okay being the only tropical fruit I like.” Ty was notorious about being a chatterbox and Cayle was always so quiet that she not choice but to keep talking because the silence between them made her nervous.

“Not to sound like I'm trying to parent you or anything like that, Tiger Lily, but are you aware that even if you were able to catch every episode like that, without watching any accidental repeats, you would have to spend... three thousand and four hundred, seventy nine hours and twenty minutes to successfully watch every episode of the Pilaf Franchise? In other words, one hundred and forty four days and a few hours, watching them 24 hours straight?”
The Saiyan scratched his nose as he thought about it. That had to hurt her eyes more than anything else, but he did not say a thing to the sixteen year old girl because he had realized that she was especially sensitive about being told 'what to do'. Instead he bottled up his thoughts and feelings about that. As she took his hand, it was a conscience effort to not yank his hand back from her, and to hold her hand as they walked to the Hotel Z lobby. When they sipped their spiced apple cider, Cayle gulped down the first mug with rapid speed and then slammed it on the concessions stand counter, “Another!”
Which was when Tiger Lily told him of her favorite fruits. Things he had learned thanks to his intention to study and master all he could about the basics of Earth living, but which he was not sure how to respond to. “Oranges are good, but I don't really know how to answer what my favorite fruit is without exaggerating a little bit. Nothing on Earth is like the Hero's Drupe, my favorite fruit as a child... I only ate it a few times, but it was always a special treat when my parents were able to find a Hero's Drupe tree.” Then he tried to give her a smile, even if it was not as wide a smile as he would otherwise give, the Saiyan's mind on the almost phantasmal smile of his mother when he was three or four years old, holding a handful of the red-orange orbs which grew in bunches of three and had pit like seeds in the middle. He would have likely stayed silent if his Spiced Apple Cider had not finished being made and the Saiyan taking the second mug up in his hands.

“Well, what can I do? I have to start somewhere. My parents did not own a television set while I was growing up so I can focus on studying at home. A missed opportunity to watch my favorite show over time, rather than rush through it all now, but I have time, right? I watch it on occasion, with all the physical training I have been doing, it’s not easy to keep up being...well me.”
The hot apple cider was delicious, there was a difference in the taste of apples of the Pig Demon Duchies, renowned for all their natural farm lands, and living on an island had its limit on fresh produce being the climate was tropical and the varieties of apples being different. It seemed Cayle quite enjoyed it as he kept ordering more but she kept a slow pace, as she was sensitive to the heat of the drink, and took the time to blow on the vapors before drinking it.
“I read an article online, that described people who claim that they are saiyans in the city from generations past, do you plan to meet any of them while we’re here?” Ty closed in and whispered in earshot, “Do you think there are any buried tuffle bunkers here, too?”
The teenage girl listened in about the Drupe tree, finding it interesting, and she mused on the thought for a minute smiling back at her boyfriend, “In the Emperor Pilaf comics, the magical dragon balls, can grant any wish you desire. While you cannot change the past you can wish for your favorite fruit tree to grow on earth, wouldn’t that be something?!” She chuckled at the idea, not even realizing the melancholy he was suffering from as she seemed unphased by empathy.

“I don't know if I will or won't, given the fact that we have so little time here in Oolong City after the event. But I'm sure that there is a Saiyan presence here, given there is a neighborhood in the town called 'Little Vegeta'. That was the name of one of the warlords in Saiyan history, one which eventually led the Saiyans to uniting and winning Planet Plant.” not that it had helped he and the other pickles, or that the Saiyans in charge had even tried to find the locations of their missing people. “I'm not sure about Tuffle Bunkers though, but we could definitely try to check it out, either now or later.”
Then the Saiyan took another gulp of the Apple Cider, before tilting his head to her, listening to her very intelligent thought, and frowning. If only they could find the intact Dragon Balls and use their power. Cayle's mind instantly went to that of his clan's homestead/village and the small orchard of Hero's Drupe Trees which existed upon it. The memory made him feel a twinge of depression, but then he thought for another moment.
What if he wished for the village and all of its people circa a certain to be replicated in a spot on the Planet Earth? It wasn't a bad idea. “If we actually could find the Dragon Balls, and figure out the spell? I think I would wish for a copy of my childhood home to be created on Earth... There were Hero's Drupe Trees there.” As well as all of his family and loved ones from before his abduction along with his siblings. Even his pet White Fang.

“How do you know all this? It is difficult to find such information on my own without searching all of the internet. I mean, realistically searching for the keywords Saiyan and Oolong City does not pull up historical articles but rather most recent news.” Ty finished her cider and was able to order another. “It will be less dangerous if I come back here stronger than I am now, right?”
“Huh. I always thought the wishes had to be specific. How would ask? Rather than wishing for home maybe the entire village or continent?”
She mused on the thought, she enjoyed this particular conversation with Cayle about making wishes, it made it easier to know him better by knowing what his wishes were. Tiger Lily set her cup down on the counter and pounced her boyfriend into a tight hug.
“I want all your wishes to come true, Cayle.” She looked up at him with wide ocean teal eyes and smiled happily with a blush. It was difficult to be affection towards him since he always had his guard up even when holding a conversation that it never seemed appropriate if he was not relaxed. “I am glad we attended this event, a change of scenery is something I never thought I needed, and you deserve a break from all the work you have been doing.”

“How do I know it? Because I lived part of it, Tiger Lily, and because I happen to also know how to read Tuffle. So I read whatever I saw when I was young, and when we left Mount Allium's facility, Konja, Jack and I took about thirty hard drives with us and a Tuffle Computer system. Jack and I cobbled it together into a working terminal and used it to gather information... which included information that the Tuffles had about the Dragon Balls, and about the potential shards which they had found.”
He was thinking how to word his wish when Tiger Lily tackle hugged him tightly, and the Saiyan hugged her tightly to keep her held up right as she said that, before nodding. He was not entirely sure that it was at a breaking point, but even having a little break helped with things. “We'll make our dreams come true, together, Ty.” then he gave her a kiss on the forehead, before thinking all the more how he would say the words of any potential wish to get his idea. It wasn't as if they were going to magically find the Dragon Balls any time soon, and there was nothing proving they were even still whole and functional.
