For anyone who ever met the Duchess would figure out by now that she never made anything optional. Committing to effective decisions was part of her protocol, despite still being indecisive about fully being part of Momentum Financial, she just recently learned what the software the company supported and had been occupied from making the promised appointment to discuss a venture with the salaryman. Hotel Z’s lobby was decorated with ice block sculptures made by the students of the Ice Block Academy in Tundra Village. Melody’s master swordsman trainer Duke Glacier and her childhood rival Icecap are from that snowy village on the northern edge of the Western lands. Icecap had been elusive ever since he attempted to murder her in broad daylight in the southern islands, she tried to chase him down when she was out for an evening constitutional, and was hit my an android rapper’s shiny black car that had faulty breaks before she could catch that runt. Melody was sitting in a chaise, fully comfortable in the a/c chilled lobby, wearing white high top sneakers, black leather pants, and a bright blue motorcycle jacket, and the more she looked at her wardrobe in passing she realized it was the same blue color as Bass. She grinned at the thought for a second and watched as other people showed up for the chance to win a million zeni. [357]

'...at the Momentum Financial Helipad.' Bass went cross eyed. "What?" He spoke aloud, leaning back into his chair and running his hands through his not real phantom hair for some reason or another. Staring up towards the ceiling, his crossed eyes quickly narrowed to a more glum and lazy disposition to merely stare up at the relatively boring roof. Wrinkles formed on his forehead as his brows scrunched.
Two minutes later, the Blue Namekian burst into the offices downstairs. "GUYS! DO WE HAVE A HELIPAD?!" Confused looks were exchanged between everyone, eventually with an expression trying to desperately fight back laughter, Greg leaned forward with a mug of coffee at his computer and gave a little wave. "No Bass, we don't have a helipad." The Namekian blinked, "Right? I thought so too. Apparently there's a helicopter coming to pick me up to go to the Western Lands for some kind of seasonal winter thing. Even though y'know, it's always super hot here." Thinking for a moment, Carl suddenly snapped his fingers as he realized what Bass was talking about. "No way, you, going to carve ice sculptures?" Bass blinked, "What? Pft, no." Carl started to laugh, Greg turned his head away and set his coffee down, though that couldn't stop the snort as the held breath gave away to a quiet laughter that rocked his body. "What? Guys, come on, I didn't sign up for this. You gotta understand like. It's a corporate thing." Bass said as he gestured his hands outwards. More people started laughing. Bass hiccuped, "Alright everyone go to the timeout room." Bass said, pointing towards the conference room. Everyone shut up immediately and started to file in one by one. Once they were all in, Bass shut the door and locked it. The Janitor would find them in there when he came in for the evening. Bass set the keys around the exterior doorknob. "Bye losers. I'm going to make an ice sculpture of you guys sucking ass." He said, walking back up to his office before flying out of the window. Meeting the helicopter in the air, he'd take the transit over to the location of the little event before hopping off. Now dawned in a black turtleneck and green cargo pants, he looked decent. Spotting Melody, he walked forward with a wave. "Hail, -ice to see you again. Looks like we've got our day carved out for us already." He blinked. WC: 407

Melody stood up the moment she caught a glimpse of Bass, she slid her hands in the pockets of her jacket, and blinked a few times at his puns. It was difficult to keep a straight face, she could not help but to laugh because it was said by the typically serious namekian salaryman, and when she recovered she sighed with a tear almost forming in the corners of her eyes. “If only the camera crews caught all that on record. Ready to be in the spotlight? Let’s go.” She mused as she turned on her heel and left the hotel lobby. The arena was a couple of yards away, nearing the stage Countess Iris smiled brightly to announce their arrival to the audience, and the other contestants recognizing the Duchess. “From our very own Truffle Village, of the Western Lands, Duchess Melody has graced us as a contestant for this event. The Ice Block Academy has taught her well on how to use a sword to carve out Ice blocks without damaging the blade in her youth. Now we get to see a master of the sword in action!” Countess Iris added her own words to the announcement rather than reading from her tablet, she looked over to it to read the information about Bass in an attempt to sensationalize his entry, “From the Southern Islands, the one, and only Bass, Branch Manager for Momentum Financial--for all your zeni needs!”
Melody walked up to a giant ice block, withdrew her sword, and swung it twice with precision. The ki energy from her blade curved into two glowing intersected marks. The ice shattered to form a perfect globe. Portobello and Morel the rushed over bringing a metal base with a long power cord, there was a series of lights, and other machinery for the globe to sit on once it was complete. “Alright, Bass-kun, just carefully punch a hole into it, in order to hollow it out without breaking it. Once that is done we can put it over this platform and the lights inside will project whatever image you want by connecting a c-phone over bluetooth.” Melody encouraged him, expecting him to own a c-phone, “Hopefully it is up to Ice Academy Standard, the judge is a tough nut to crack.” She chuckled as she looked over to Count Marigold Squirrel. 'Damn right I'm the one and only fish, you better believe it.' He smugly thought to himself. He seemed to be oddly affiliated with dad jokes if he ever stoked his sense of humour to life. Scratching his forearm, he just awkwardly stood to the side as Melody began to go kung fu on ice. He wasn't familiar with that degree of pinpoint precision. When she was done with it, Bass tilted his head and spoke.
"Consider me impressed, I've never seen that kind of accuracy before. And... Just punch a hole in it? That's a million times more complicated than it sounds. I have to punch so hard it just... Makes a hole, and doesn't destroy the entire thing." He said, rubbing his chin in thought. While theoretically possible, the odds of him doing this flawlessly were slim to none. Though, his friend was counting on him and he had to live up to expectations. Taking a deep breath, he began to roll his right shoulder and align himself with the place to punch a hole in.
He took a couple swings that stopped short to test the waters, varying degrees of power to which one was scarily close to just knocking the globe over from residual kinetic force that shot forward from his fist. Thankfully it neatly nestled right back onto the stand that it had been resting on prior. Nodding to himself, he shook his wrist and flexed his fingers into a fist. Narrowing his eyes, the Namekian's entire body tensed an he attempted to like a Mantis Shrimp obliterates its prey, snap a fist forward to pop a perfectly smooth hole into the globe.
What was the worst that could happen? How important good an ice sculpture competition be, right? The truth was, Bass didn't want to think about it.

“A near perfect technique! Impressive!” Melody took her hands out of her motorcycle jacket and clapped catching the attention of some of the audience; she placed her hands back in her pockets to keep warm, “The judges base their critique on the method applied on the ice sculpting not the design itself which is why they dedicated an entire Academy in Tundra village for it. Both Icecap and Duke Glacier grew up in that village before the old man lost to a fifteen year old rabbit beastman, more likely his dusty demon bones could not withstand the cool temperatures for full control of his blade master abilities. Well, enough about that, I was nearly convinced your sheer power alone would shatter it instantly but you managed excellent ki control there, and it is a good thing we teamed up!”
Melody leaped up and kicked the orb into the pedestal using the tip of her white sneaker to roll it over onto the platform with the hollowed opening over the lights. The brilliant color lights began to hologram project snowflakes, like a snow globe, and a central light shot up through the night sky like a signal. Bass stood tall and was unable to make direct eye contact. She still held an invisible aura and poise that commanded full attention despite her lithe stature.
“We can begin ruling the world on the fame and zeni this project will bring us. Destiny has brought us together.”
