Well, since the wizard had been kicked out of his parent's house, he had fallen on some hard times. Sure, the young man had packed a small bag of items, but the food he had brought with him was already gone within the first few days. Travel throughout the southern islands was expensive business too! Moving from ship to ship was very costly one one's wallet. In short, the bird-like man had been reduced to a poor beggar in a small shanty town. Duck would make his home in a small alleyway around a blazing fire barrel. It wasn't a comfortable existence, but it was one nonetheless. The only issue came with him trying to get back on his feet. Acquiring money from the tightfisted and coldhearted people of the town would be a daunting task to say the least. If he could get some zeni however, he might be able to afford one last trip, and get one step closer to a particular item of power he was searching for. It was morning in the town, and that meant it was time for the regular routine. One he had only been doing for a few days, but commonly enough. The duck would set up a large cardboard box outside his street, and sit inside of it holding out a metal cup. As people walked by, the would attempt to look as pathetic as possible, all while asking "Spare change ma'am? Spare Change Sir?" It wasn't exactly a legal practice, but if he could get a decent amount of goodwill, he would be bound for a different town. It was funny how much life could change. After all, a few weeks ago he would have never dreamed of such a thing happening. Now he was living a sad reality. Many different people would walk past the box, all would either ignore him or insult him. It was a fair response to solicitation, but not the one Duck was hoping for. At this rate, he would have to start shaking people down with magic! Though he wasn't one to commit evil or criminal actions, he may not have another choice if he didn't get something soon. "Oh Please! Somebody! I just need a few zeni for travel!" Duck would wail, but no one would respond. That annoyed him greatly, so perhaps he should better explain himself. "I am a powerful wizard! Melody began to hate the hustle and bustle of the city, it was the grime that bothered her the most, and South City was entirely different that Oolong City in the sense that there were people who were vagabonds on the beach. Oolong City was full of hustlers, trying to make every minute count to make a zeni, and even Gamblers who lost everything immediately got back at it again by working part time jobs; down to washing the dishes for pay and use it to gamble again. It was an endless cycle, the beautiful weather of the island, had a different effect, people were homeless because the weather was nice spending their day being lazy. If there was anything she loathed the most is lazy people, when this duck beastman approached her with an extended metal cup of coins and bills, she narrowed her violet eyes directly at him, and she noted that his power level was on display which was enough to determine that he was very capable of himself. “Really?” The Duchess’ brow twitched as she was stopped in her tracks and while she often ignored people this duck was difficult to miss. “If you are so powerful, why are you begging on the street? Get a job bird brain! I am not giving you a hand out, I worked hard for my zeni, and you’re out here asking for help--when clearly you can help yourself first. What exactly are you wearing?!” Fashion was very important to her, she was wearing a tropical red sundress with bold white plumeria flower pattern, and a straw hat to match the atmosphere. The Duck was wearing some sort of cosplay, which is no wonder he was being looked at as if he was a joke, and she gritted her teeth seemingly repulsed by everything he stood for relying on a moldy wooden box to keep him at her eye level. Despite Duck's best efforts to appear a helpless vagabond, a woman on the streets would point out a gaping hole in the poor fool's plea. If he was some kind of wizard with magical power, he should have no problem finding a job. A visible drop of sweat would drip down the beastman's brow, and he would quickly respond "Well--Uh... The Local needed a Wizard with a few more years of experience?" The man would say this with a toothy smile, knowing it was a pretty bad excuse. Maybe soliciting from random city goers wasn't the more honest work, but it still took some effort. "Hey! What did you just call me!? Bird brain!? What nerve!"The young man would then look down at his robes as she commentated on his outfit. Some wizards possessed magically enhanced clothing that boosted their arcane powers! In the case of Duck however; he just thought it looked cool. Then again, the other kids did say he had bad fashion sense. It was quite valid criticism all things considered, but the wizard would still be quite insulted. He would take a moment to think of a retort, spitting out "Oh yeah missy! Well Age 607 called and they want their outfit back!"Duck had no idea what he was saying, he just heard some teenager girl make that remark to someone else a few days ago. It must have been a pretty good insult though, as a pair of passing by teens would gasp and chuckle a bit. With the sword coming off her back however, the teens would quickly run away. The streets would suddenly be cleared, as the people feared a storm brewing, or brawl in this case. Duck would back up a few paces, knights were powerful individuals, but most were empowered by magic at some point. Maybe he could see if she had some sort of crazy enchantment on it before the fighting started... "Uh... Test my abilities... right." “I had no idea ducks knew how to count.” Melody mused as they both retreated towards the dark alleyway, rays of sunlight peaked slightly over the roofs of two brick buildings, and she was holding the grip of her sword loosely to display her talent with it by turning her wrist about to swing it in a circle movement. “Apparently they also know the chronological order of fashion throughout history, I might need someone like that if I am to remain on the island longer than necessary.” She paused before speaking again, “Allow me to introduce myself. I am Duchess Melody of the Pig Demon Duchies in the Western Lands. I was having a good time having a walk before I crossed paths with you. The wizard was quite surprised by how quickly the woman lashed out, but she seemed equally surprised by his ability to count and recall fashion. The spinning motion the woman made was more than enough to distract the wizard, allowing him to easily fall for both strikes. He would have to better prepare his defenses next time, but he was more interested in exactly what this dynasty she spoke of was. He had heard of many powerful organization claiming to be royalty of some kind, but this one was news to him. Either way, he would have to stay on his toes for this fight. "You really want to see me angry don't you!? Well get a load of this!" The wizard would shoot his hand into the air and send a powerful stream of lighting in all directions. Thanks to the large metal object his opponent was wielding, she was certainly in the line of fire. After a few moments the ground would shake in the small town, and concrete in the alley would be destroyed as two massive dragons flew from the ground and into the sky. Towns people would be panicking and all rushing to their homes, but the battle had only begun. Duck knew that the swordsmen types enjoyed melee combat, so he would have to be prepared for that ahead of time. With a snap from his fingers, he would summon an arcane shield to his side. With any luck, it would be enough to stop incoming attacks. This would allow the wizard to get his footing, as he would soon be much more offensive in his tactics. The blade sliced through the air with so much force behind it that it cut around the shield the duck summoned, it was a bit different from what she was used to, and if she wanted to see anymore party tricks she needed to make sure their alleyway brawl lasted a bit longer. “Oh, is that all?” Melody was disappointed and sheathed her sword, while seemingly defenseless the Duck unleashed something powerful which made her smile with anticipation but the burst of magic stopped before it could reach where she stood. “Do you need me ruffle some of your feathers after this?” The Duchess teased, figuring he was a little rusty because he needed a thorough massage and in truth, she adored beastfolk; she was caught several times caressing them and invading their personal space because they were so adorable to resist temptation. The world was a massive petting zoo with all these wonderful creatures and the Duck was even more adorable trying to strut his magical stuff, that she found herself hovering over him with a gleam in her violet eyes. The wizard was impressed. The woman seemed unscathed by his lightning attack, and hardly notice the dragons he had summoned. She was still a proficient swordsman however; that that would always be a problem for a more frail magic user like himself. Having a few divination spells in his arsenal, he would manage to see the woman approaching ahead of time. Whatever she was planning, it couldn't have been good! She would then mention ruffling his feathers, oh how lewd! Before he could even react to this comment, he would find himself in the woman's constrictive grasp. Though he expected it to be a crushing hold, she was going oddly soft on him. "Uhhh? Is this suppose to hurt?"He figured this would be a good opportunity to strike, she was obviously distracted. The beastman's eyes would flash with electricity, and a massive bolt of lightning would come down from the sky, striking him directly. If the woman was still holding on, she would likely be electrocuted. Now how to follow up an attack like that? "Blade! Flame! Hit her with your best shot!" The twin dragons would swoop down and send waves of flames from their mouths down towards the woman. The wizard himself would use this as a chance to jump back. "That was a close one. She might have tried snuggling next!"Raising a hand towards the woman, he would cite a powerful incantation "By the power of the ancients I will blind you with light!" “It’s supposed to tickle,” Melody mused as she licked her lips and missed out on grabbing hold of him. She pulled out her lip gloss imbued with a natural stimulant to kiss the Duck on top of his head and was distracted by the Dragons surrounding them both that she kissed the top of his bill instead. The gel like solution restored 40 ki energy for the Wizard instantly when it came off her lips. Out of frustration, she unsheathed her sword at the Dragon, she was certain she witnessed two of them, but it was moving around constantly that she focused her energy to slash at it. “How dare you interrupt me vile serpent!” While she liked all animalistic creatures she loathed being interrupted, no matter what the cause. In the time it took for her turn her attention at the dragon, she was hit by a lightning bolt by the Duck, instantly becoming blinded, and she removed it by momentary ascension so she could refocus on her target absorbing some of the damage in the process. Duck was incredibly confused at this point. Only a few moments ago, the woman acted as if she wanted his head on a pike. Now, she was playing around with him as if he was a doll? It was a strange turn of events that he had yet to see anywhere before. "Uh? Tickle?" Even saying it himself seemed out of place in this situation. Maybe he had just amused her that much, or maybe she was just toying with him? As she made her next move, the woman would put on lipstick and look toward's the duck's head. He didn't know exactly what was coming next, but just as his dragons cam in to save him, she would kiss him on the bill! What kind of turn of events was this!? His pupils would dilate and he would feel his body refiled with magical energy! How was that even possible!? As the two separated, the beastman would be a little woozy, "Woah--Oh--Oh my..." It was certainly lucky the lightning bolt was there just in time before she tried anything else. Shaking his head a little, the duck-man would be back in the fight. "What was that!? I thought we were having a fight? I mean-- not that I didn't enjoy that..." He would look down at he feet for a moment, realizing that the woman was now chasing down his dragons!
