The fight against Koma were flashes of fragmented memories, after taking quite a blow to her head prevented Melody from total recall of the result. It was frustrating not knowing but she was in no position to dwell on it until the opportunity to fight him again became available as she suspected he was also part of the Western Lands; solely on the fact of his fighting style and the taste of the ingredients he used in the stew she had stolen. In the end she never knew his actual name but she had divulged Gracier’s name which he recognized and soon enough he might have words with him if proper martial art styles were as important as he claimed it to be. The Duchess did not understand what that involved ever since she fought her way to a higher position in life and only recently became familiar with the views of others. In the grand scheme of things her actual goals became unchanged, a fighter at heart, she had to continue fighting multiple battles to achieve greater power.
Days went by since Melody moved to Truffle village but she kept having to leave constantly, either on an errand, a supply run, or recovering a local villager. With the shipment of the tall white palm tree-sized desert mushroom, delivered via stolen Ox-co mining sixteen wheeler truck flatbed, the villagers genetically spliced their prized red healing mushrooms to help aid their duchess but it would take some time until the harvest was ripe for the picking. The desert mushroom resisted the sun’s UV rays storing it as energy and was the base for the tiny red mushrooms to grow on by applying its absorbing properties of the heat for the spores to thrive. In that time Melody recovered from her injuries from eating large meals and sleeping the days away. The Duchess’ internal wounds were the most severe which took a bit longer to heal, her neck and shoulders were discolored bruises, and the cut on her high cheek bone was covered by white tape most likely to scar due to her age.
Portabello entered the throne room, he was taller than last time, his bowl cut was shorter as well but worst of all he had a stupid grin on his face when he entered, which forced Melody to strain her face feeling unnerved about being disturbed while recovering.
“I heard about your missing tooth, my lady. But before you jump to conclusions! I wanted to tell you about a rumor I heard when I was at the mines and the driver of a supply shipment told everyone that the Southern Islands is the home to the shoe crab, an ancient crustacean that are as old as the dinosaurs we know, that has special blue blood. Your tooth can be restored by growing another as it seems the blood restores calcium...in fact someone had regrown an entire missing pinky finger except it returned as a finger bone and a couple of tendons...missing the muscle tissue and flesh.”
“That sounds disgusting but I just might do it. Every time I travel anywhere trouble seems to follow, or maybe I end up finding it...Thanks.” Melody sighed.
Travel plans to take a ferry from the Western lands to the Southern islands were set up by the Truffle Village council for their Duchess’ dental appointment with shoe crabs.
