A chance meeting in the desert netted Nal a new friend - one Bryce, a techno-man, as he has been dubbed by the majin. They chatted and they walked, and decided to race into the city and find some food. One issue has been that neither of them seemed to have any money to pay for said food - one being recently awakened and utterly lost, the other being... recently awakened and utterly lost as well. However, Nal made a discovery that was about to change their fortunes! Reaching out to grab Bryce under the arm - the touch of a majin rather mundane, apart from some odd pliability of her rubbery flesh - Nal began to drag him towards the earlier heard noise, stalls and a huge banner, shaped like a sausage, with a big arrow pointing down underneath it. "There" - she said, an ear-to-ear grin on the majin girl's face, a finger pointing towards the obvious, towering sign. "They have a contest there! It's about eating sausages. Apparently there's "Brackets" like in those tournaments of fighting I heard so much about, so we have to compete against different people eating a lot of sausages, then whoever gets to be first, wins some rewards. That sounds amazing! I wanna try. Come try with me." - Nal's excitation was palpable, she almost vibrated on the spot. Eating plenty of food and getting rewarded for it? That sounded like the best thing ever. "This city must be where those invisible book-demon-gods live, because an idea like this should be taught to everyone on the world. And, not even waiting for the man's confirmation or denial - the majin slinked into the crowd, if needed, shifting her frame to be thinner to squeeze through, or the contrary - temporarily bulking up to shove some folks aside. This prize was hers. This contest was hers. Making way to the stall where people registered, she looked around. There were serveral other contestants - one deceitfully thin man, several big-bellied, jovial people, some broad, muscular folks, two tigermen, one wolfman. And more that she could not see. Looking up, she found herself face to face (sort of) with a woman - wearing a huge sausage outfit. She seemed happy - that grin was wide, and her voice... actually sounded oddly hollow. Nal blinked. "Welcome to the Central City Style Sausage Eating Contest. Please state your name" - she said in a tired, monotone voice. Nal thought that must be beacuse she has to witness all of the eating and do none of it. She felt sorry for the poor woman. "I am Nal. I'm here to eat, and if I win, I promise I'll bring you not one, but two sausages to eat, too. You won't have to be hungry anymore!" The sausage-woman gave Nal an odd stare. She wrote down the majin's name and waved her away, unamused. But that didn't deter the majin. She would win. For the sake of the poor, hungry tournament registerer!

The desert was good for more than just alone time it seemed, as he had met Nal, someone who was like him, still figuring things out. Now, the first few words shared between them were mainly just names and questions as well as answers to those questions, but there was still this unspoken bond between them. Maybe for Bryce it was simply because she was one of the first people not trying to kill him. And for Nal maybe it was.. well she seemed so positive that maybe she bonded with everyone she ever met. At some points the technoman would even compare her to a six year old child.
And there was her hunt for food that Bryce happily went along with to try and find out if he could still eat at all, which was quickly answered by this Nal handing him a piece of hard candy that he could indeed, eat. And so far there had not been any complications, so Nal, obviously, went on to find more food on account she ran out of candy and quickly found a store that sold food. But as Bryce pointed out right then, they didn't have the required money to pay for the food. And so they were forced to look elsewhere.
Bryce wasn't getting out of it easily, it seemed, as he was basically pulled away suddenly because Nal thought she smelled something. And that thought, or assumption, quickly changed into fact as the smell reached Bryce. Looking at Nal, who was quite a bit shorter, he wondered how someone without a nose could smell this well.
Any way it was, Nal left the side of Bryce by saying she wanted to join this competition, which made the mandroid look on and wonder if this was an actual tournament. Quickly though, as Nal pointed out before vanishing in the crowd, it was confirmed that it was indeed a tournament, one for eating sausages, but still a valid tournament complete with brackets and... free food? And with all the people around there was no shortage of contestants either, which meant for a long tournament, many brackets and a lot of free food. Though maybe some of the people around were there to just watch.
And as he first decided, Bryce wanted to just watch, but between Nal pretty much forcing him to join as well as those sausages starting to make his mouth water, which in turn made him wonder if he wouldn't start rusting from this, he decided to join just to see how far he could get. The girl had already decided she was going to win though, and the competition seemed tough enough to make sure the technoman wouldn't get first place, but still,, he would let them know he was always up for a contest, whether it involved fists or food.
He decided to follow Nal who made her way through the crowd in such a way that Bryce couldn't follow straight behind her, leaving him to look around the wall of people without even thinking of pushing people aside like Nal did several times over by.. getting fat, which was odd. Did she have an elastic body? If so, she really did have a good chance at winning this. Basically the only way she could lose if that happened was by being bored of it to such a degree she would just get up and look for something else to do.
But right now the problem for Bryce was registering, as he couldn't even reach the woman Nal was talking to to compete in the tournament. Unknown to Bryce though, as he started thinking about how going either around them ws no real option as the woman who registered people was boxed in, was that as he jokingly thought about going over everyone. But that was out of the question.
And so he would have to focus on simply doing what Nal did, push people aside to get himself through. It wasn't a fun idea to be doing so, but when he did it, the people being pushed seemed more than happy to move aside for him. There were plenty of excuses being made though as he pushed past people, but eventually he would pop up where Nal used to be and got to registering himself to the woman he assumed went over these things.
''I-I'm Bryce..'' He said, trying to get her attention before remembering this was a tournament and how at home in those he felt, instantly losing his shy tone. ''And I'm here to eat sausages and win the prize!''
However, as he said that he was looked at with a blank stare and, when his name was scribbled down he was waved off, allowing him to go over to Nal. ''She seems happy.'' He sarcastically told her. Would she understand sarcasm though? ============= TWC: 1,304

The majin looked at her companion oddly. The register woman clearly wasn't happy, so she just assumed it was a joke. Not one she understood, but oh well. "I think it's because everyone is here to eat the amazing sausages and she has to wear that silly costume and not get to eat any. I promised I'd bring her some. By the way, what's our team name? This is apparently a friend and friend thing, people going alone can't participate. So we need a team name." - after the downpour of words and exposition, the gray gal nodded sagely, looking around at the tables. There were plenty of people and plenty of seats, as well as people taking pictures of others with those weird techno-thingies they called cameras. The little majin grinned broadly, as the person responsible for taking photos came for both her and Bryce! The wide grin was still there even as the photographer moved on, to capture the huge technoman, with a slight worry hidden behind his best customer service smile. He spoke nothing and clearly, wanted to be elsewhere as soon as possible. As Nal opened her mouth to speak, she was interrupted, by a loud, thundering voice, rolling over the speakers of the stalls.
"Welcome, welcome, to the grand, spectacular, one hundred seventeenth Central City Style Sausage Eating Contest! Held almost weekly, with exceptions for holidays, disasters or other important events that would impede it, but not this time, folks, not this time! Today, we have contestants from all over the world, coming from East, West, North cities, as well as all over the world! Today is a special day as well, folks, for amongst our jury is the owner of far and prestigious restaurant of Delicious Saikan! That's right, folks! The very one where the champions of the World Martial Arts tournament dine after their splendid fights in the ring! We dine in the presence of those who fed true heroes, folks, so may your appetites be with you!"
The little majin looked over at the stage, where a deceitfully short man bellowed into the microphone, his voice thundering all over the event, and far beyond, luring more and more people into the contest, just like it lured her. "It's a real tournament of food" she said, grinning widely. "We need a really, really good name, right? Shame I'm awful at naming things... how are you with that?" And with that said, the gray girl began thinking, looking around for inspiration. Her pocket, unfortunately, devoid of candy, as all were eaten by the two on the way here. She would need another source... or a trusty friend to save her from this conundrum.

Wait, this was a tournament meant for teams? Bryce thought it was for individuals wanting to have a go at it but if Nal was right then they wouldn't be able to participate if he did what he initially wanted and failed to sign up.
A man came over to their table as the mandroid bsat down with a sigh, trying to hype himself up, and somehow still found himself at the same height of Nal. Looking over to the man behind the camera though, he noticed the same level of investment from him as from the woman he registered at. They'd make a good couple, Mr and Mrs dead-behind-the-eyes. You'd think that people being here would have some more enthusiasm.
But then, suddenly, the words Nal spoke earlier hit Bryce like a truck and caused a little grin, though he quickly muffled that one away in case his picture was made right then. The demon mentioned how she was going to win and bring some sausages to the woman from before, and it seemed like nothing more than an insult at that point. ''I don't think she wants to eat sausages when she sees people eat hundreds of them on a daily basis.'' He said, still stifling a grin as he looked away from Nal intently, and also looked away from the guy with a camera who thusfar had several pictures of him with his hand in front of his mouth and with his sides exposed to the camera.
He noticed Nal was about to say something though when a booming voice seemed to thunder through the entire area, likely the guy hosting this. Following the voice to its source, Bryce found that who ever hosted this event was smaller than anticipated, and had a too small build to ever be able to eat huge amounts. Or at least, this was the assumption.
But then there was something that made him put on a serious face and focus on the words much more than before, which meantt he would shush Nal and the man holding the camera in front of him could snap a picture of him looking as serious as could be, allowing him to leave to greener pastures, or in this case greasier pastures. But either way, Bryce heard something about the martial arts champions eating in a nearby restaurant, and the owner of that restaurant was in the jury for the eating contest.
''Team or not.'' He said. ''I am going to meet that guy.'' Bryce looked at Nal with the same serious face as before when the man spoke about martial arts. The guy would not come over to the tables either way, and would likely have some kind of security around him, so Bryce would have to win to be able to meet that person. Maybe get some discount to eating in his place? And in that moment Bryce turned to Nal with an idea, his serious expression melting like snow in the sun.
''If we eat well enough,'' He started to tell Nal. ''maybe that guy will let us eat in his restaurant with more food than just sausages.'' Bryce hoped he could motivate Nal to win for the promise of even more exotic foods, and he was already motivated through just being able to meet the guy who provided the champions their food.
''Besides, I'll be extremely happy if I get to talk to him.'' Bryce added in explaining, still hoping to pile on the motivation. Maybe, if she really had the mental capacity of a young person she would stop at nothing to make others happy. And in this case making one person happy was to win at this tournament, which was also something she wanted to do. ''You get more food, I get to meet the feeder of the champions.. it's a win-win! So.. win?''
As for the name.. Bryce hadn't really thought about it, but one thing was certain. ''What about 'Eating machines.' as a name?'' ============================== TWC: 2,419

Nal listened, to the man and to the technoman. She considered his word - there was always a promise of more food, and a better food at that. And then, of course, was the matter of Bryce being happy, but why? Considering this a while, Nal came to the conclusion that the man simply wants to be a star at something. Or just meet a famous restaurant owner... and they spoke of tournaments while at it. So, maybe that was it? Maybe he wanted to take part in more of those tournaments? Idle thoughts were not important. What was important - was the food. "Why do you want to meet him so much?" the majin inquired, as the first wave of food was given. Those were simple sausages, with condiments to put on top - while fatty and large enough to be considered a good breakfast, it seemingly was considered just a warm up here. There were three on each plate.
"And the first round is upon us!" - the voice thundered again, as the small screens over the tables the lot sat on flickered to life, showing the contestants' pictures taken but a moment ago. Nal's was with the grin, Bryce's was deathly serious. Over that, there was the name they "decided" upon - Eating Machines. Many other people had their pictures and team names as well - quite how they were gathered so swiftly was anyone's guess. "Three Central City Style sausages, with mustard, ketchup and mayo for those that want them! Each sausage eaten is five points, each eaten with a coating of a condiment is worth one more point per condiment used! Total chance for twenty four points in this round per person!" Nal grinned, looking at the food. She looked around to see others preparing - some added condiments, some did not. Unable to decide which to pick, the majin reached out for all three jars - and richly dipped each of the sausages into each of the jars, making a three-layer mix of seasonings on each sausage. Using a fork to pick them up, because she didn't want to get her hands all mustard-y. Yet. "But don't worry" she said, turning to Bryce with a wide grin. "I will do my best. Because I know you want to win."
The reassurance came just in time. The man at the stage let out some more words about competiton, before falling silent - and giving space for a dramatic drumroll. Briefly. "Ready... set... EAT!"
What began was a pandemonium. People began devouring their sausages with zeal, some just getting a free meal, like the majin and the cyborg planned. Some, those that really wanted to win, cut and tossed parts of sausages into their mouths, chewing loudly, some even with open mouths. A single glass of water each of the contestants was given to wash the sausages with was emptied rapidly almost before the echo of the announcer's words even finished reverberating in the city. Plates were emptied, forks and knives scratched on the plates, burps were heard all over, in an attempt to discourage others from eating with disgust. Nal's plate was full. She reached out with a fork to her sausage, then tossed it into her mouth whole. Then the second and third, all coated with ridiculous amounts of condiments. With her cheeks comically puffed up with all the food, like a deranged hamster, she began to chew. And then swallowed the chewed mass of meat and sauce, almost in it's entirety. Grinning and looking at her plate, expecting more.

''Simple.'' Bryce would reply when he was asked why he wanted to meet the man who fed the champions. ''Because maybe he can help me.'' He then thought for a moment, mentally noting down how Nal was there and, seeing how pumped she seemed to be, was the one who would get him there. ''Us. Maybe he can help us.'' He corrected after thinking about how mystical a martial arts trainer could potentially get, and maybe they'd find one that was into the mythical arts. Who could say for sure?
Then his train of thought was cut off by what appeared to be the first 'match' being handed to them. Three sausages. They were big, sure, but was this really worthy of being called a match? They were also given condiments and the rules were explained to them. Twenty four points was the max.. and they needed ketchup, mayo and mustard for that. Now, when the starting sign was given it became obvious that Nal was a big eater. Aside from the giant pile of those condiments on her plate, she managed to jam those sausages into her mouth in one go.
They weren't even going in the right way, at one point Bryce could even swear she was wearing them as a smile before she began chewing. It astounded the technoman, really. It was a miracle that she had enough space left to move her jaws up and down, and for an instant Bryce wondered if he could do the same. And as if his body was responding to his thoughts he could 'feel' something mechanical happen in his throat, which was definitely odd but.. when everything was done moving swallowing suddenly hurt. So Bryce began to think on what it could be.
His esophagus? No, he needed that too much, he'd heard of people being able to keep it opened but that was too farfetched.. And as he thought that he felt the stress on his throat vanish, as if his own body was trying to tell him something. Maybe there was actually something in place to help him with stupid things like that. Although.. they weren't that stupid when Bryce thought about it, in a fight that stupid thing called swallowing coud save him some time, even if it wasn't a real improvement over anything it was still one less thing to focus on.
And when he then decided for himself that maybe that was it, he thought about it once more and felt the same kind of motion in his throat. Did something clamp open his esophagus? But even as he thought that it would still be difficult for him not to make the swallowing motion. And what if he managed to get food in his stomach this way? Unchewed and in one solid piece? Did his stomach have new systems or something to break everything down for him?
Finally though, he shrugged. Only an x-ray could tell him that, and right now he was not in the right place to get one.
Bryce looked over to Nal looking at her plate with hollow hope, and finally decided to drench a sausage in the condiments provided, for maximum points. He picked one up at the edge and gently slid it into his mouth and down his throat, where it quickly slid out of his hand as gravity pulled it down whole without chewing or swallowing. And what was weirder, Bryce felt nothing of it aside from an odd feeling in his stomach as if crushing nuts with a mortar and pestle. So maybe his gut was not bottomless, but always empty?
But as soon as that thought had entered his mind he had drenched the other two sausages and dropped them down his throat in the same manner. But unlike Nal, he didn't have to chew and didn't even feel the need to burp or even use the water set down in front of him.
''Please tell me this isn't all.''

That the huge man could eat a lot was of no surprise to either Nal or the other contestants, but that he just swallowed the sausages whole, inserting them in like coins into a jukebox, gave pause to just about any person observing. Even the majin. Her head tilted, the girl curiously observing the proceedings and the way in which that food was devoured. "You don't even get to feel the taste that way." - she observed, turning to regard the plate that was now smudged with condiments, but empty otherwise. A few of the contestants finished their sausages, some just... slinked away, upon the sight of these two bizarre people and the way they ate. This wasn't worth their time, these two weren't going to be beaten by them.
"And thus, the warmup is complete! I see some had their fill already and left, so now, we can count the points! Eight teams with the higher scores shall proceed to the next round, while the rest shall be given a participation reward and leave the stage for the true warriors of the way of the stomach!" - the announcer boomed, and soon, the scores were up. Three teams had full fourty-eight points, five more have managed to stay in the game, with the lowest score of thirty-nine for Team Omnomnivores - one of the team being the wolfman Nal spotted registering earlier. "The next round shall be elimination - four groups of two teams, ten sausages, four condiments - a world famous Satan's Breath Chilli Sauce added to the mix for additional points! Get ready for your pairings, contestants!" Nal looked over at her companion, then at the screen - it turns out they had been contesting against the wolfman and his companion - a corpulent woman with a broad, enthusiastic grin. Both chatted with eachother, excited to be there - they didn't seem to care for winning, or that they were pitted against people with the highest score in the eliminations. They just wanted food and fun. "Help you, you said first" - the majin said, turning as the sausages were served, immediately beginning to slather them in the provided seasonings - with a rich helping of the hot sauce on top of each. This mixture looked like the physical embodiment of a heart attack. "What do you need help with from someone who cooks for champions?" Not waiting for the two to stop talking, the announcer proceeded on with his "Ready, set, eat!" command. And Nal did just that - the first four sausages suffered the same fate as the previous dish, the rest were thrown into her mouth one by one, chewed thoroughly, as the hot sauce worked it's fiery magicks in the majin's throat. Her gray skin actually got some colour, heated red from the spicy treatment her stomach was given. By the ninth sausage, she opened her mouth and exhaled, and after a third - the girl closed her lips, puffed up her cheeks and instead of exhaling, let out a healthy dose of steam from the venting holes on her arms and collar. Exhaling right afterwards, with a wide grin. "Well that was nice. Sharp, strong taste."

Bryce supposed she did have a point in him not really tasting the food the way he was eating, but tasting the food was not really the thing he was going for here. ''I'm not here to taste.'' He told her. ''I'm here to win!'' He then locked eyes with the people that remained seated, ignoring the ones who left, and intently stared to try and figure them out. The points were counted, and the brackets advanced.
Four groups of two teams, so there were still plenty of people in the race for first place. They would get ten sausages, with four condiments this time, some form of spicy saauce being added for extra points. Seemed easy enough to Bryce, because as Nal pointed out earlier he was not tasting them anyway, so the extra sauce would not be able to deter him.
With the next round being served Bryce got a question as he began squeezing out condiments over all the sausages, ending with the hot sauce while the majin already seemed to eat some of them before ever getting an answer. ''He knows the champions.'' He answered as he watched the majin garf every sausage down in a frightening pace, not really allowing him any way to answer as she was too busy chewing and doing whatever it was she did with food.
''He might be able to point me to them.'' Bryce continued even over the sound of sausages being chewed all over, seeing a few people who hadn't drank their water yet doing just that, which was a stupid thing to do because of the hot sauce. The glasses before them remained untouched though, and Bryce wondered if Nal would even drink something as bland as water judging by the buckets of condiments she used just to eat sausages.
Starting to pick up a sausage himself he smiled right at Nal though, before getting a puff a steam in his face that almost caused him to fall over. Trying to wave it away he would try to get back into the game as best he could, but in the commotion he had dropped his sausage to the ground and was forced to try and pick it up whille it rolled away from his every touch. Finally, he just stepped on it and picked it up that way. Now flattened though, he was no longer able to swallow it whole and figured to just try his best to round it out again.
The condiments were still on it though, so when he made it round once more he would throw it down his throat again like the previous ones, despite the dirt and possible bugs on it. And soon the other nine sausages followed the first one with all the mayo, ketchup, mustard and hot sauce. As smooth as they were picked up, they went down. And as soon as the last one slid down his throat he looked at Nal again.

The majin nodded, as the round neared it's end. The two opponents just stared at the way both of these ate, while scarfing down the sausages themselves. However, the woman gave up on condiments by the sixth sausage, while the wolfman couldn't even finish the ninth he tried to eat. With a few laughs between eachother and a bow and wishes of good luck to Team Eating Machines, the two left.
"I could point you to one. He's absurdly strong. Name is Kiryu and I believe he was riding down to the south islands, where that big arena is." - she said, as the next teams were announced. This time, there were two groups of two teams, and the opponents of Nal and Bryce were called Shark's Appetite - however, none of them was a shark man. These were just two burly men, with bandanas and without shirts, grinning predatorily at their foes. Nal grinned back at them joyfully, then turned back to Bryce. "He helped me fight bandits before. It was fun and I learned a few things just by being near that man. Maybe you can do that too? He's nice and good. Wanna seek him out after this?"
Not waiting for the answer, the announcer, ever rudely interrupting the dialogue, began speaking of the third round. "Ladies and gentlemen, we have the semi-finals. Only four teams are left: Shark's Appetite, Eating Machines, The Gobblers and last but definitely not least, the champions of the previous tournament, the one, the only, The Meat Terminators! But... I'm told that one of the Gobblers, the terrific tigermen that were with us for the last ten tournaments, have fallen ill! Therefore... the finals shall be now, with not two, but three teams contesting! And for that, dear folks, we have a special, unique, brazen challenge. Bring in the challenge!"
Plates, condiments and everything else was swiftly removed from the table, and it quickly became apparent why. A single man - dressed in fine clothing, flanked by two men in black gi, have walked down the table. "All applaud for the owner of the Delicious Saikan, the illustrious chef over chefs himself! You all know his name, so I won't waste breath on introductions, and instead focus on the creation he has made specifically for us. Behold... THE BEHEMOTH!" The finely clad man threw a small capsule onto the table. It puffed out some smoke, then some more, and soon, the table creaked under the weight of the monstrous dish on top of it - a single sausage, the size of a van, on top of a colossal saucer. Everyone stared at it in awe - including the other two teams, the bandana men as well as Meat Terminators, consisting of the deceitfully gaunt man from reception and a plump man with a headband on his head, containing the wishes of a good meal in several languages.
"The rules are simple. Eat! Dig into this monstrosity until you cannot eat any more! Whichever team has a member caught not eating for longer than three seconds will be disqualified, and the team that lasts the longest, becomes the champion of the hundred seventeenth Central City Style Sausage Eating Contest! Now..." The majin's eyes lit up at the mere size of that sausage. Lips spreading in a colossal grin. "Beautiful..." she spoke. "Ready!" - Nal leaned over. "Set!" - she opened her mouth, basically latching to the sausage like a catfish to an aquarium's wall.
"EAT!"

Absurdly strong, that could be a fun thing to experience. So far he had only encountered people weaker or as strong as him. Well, and one whose strength he hadn't yet seen, but he thought he was safe in assuming that a demon would be several times stronger than he was. Maybe if he could sense energy like that other girl from before could.. well, he could sense the energy of others already but he didn't yet know how to manually do it.
The competition right there was thinning out as Bryce and Nal both seemed to power through the sausages, and right now there were only a few teams left to challenge them. Four teams in total, two groups of two teams pitted against each other. However, as far as the mandroid knew, their opponents could be fatigued by hunger and maybe that would show here. But on the other hand they could very well be like him or Nal, who he also wasn't sure about was a bottomless pit.
''I would still like to win.'' Bryce answered Nal as she mentioned this guy named Kiryu. He sounded fun to be around, and she also mentioned a giant arena so maybe he could train some there. However, he wondered if he had knowledge of the mystic arts like Nal mentioned before she wanted to know. ''But I wouldn't mind visiting him with you after this is over.'' He continued as the announcer began to speak. Though he ignored that for the first few seconds to mention he would at least want to meet the owner of the restaurant.
The announcer drew him back into the game though, and explained that one of the teams had fallen ill and so they were three teams, not four. This was something Bryce hadn't noticed yet, and as he looked over to the side of the other team he noticed that two of the seats were indeed empty. This was a good start as it meant that the victory for Bryce and Nal was easier to obtain, since it would now be two against one.
Wait, would it be? How would they do that? The table that had no people at it was emptied quickly and onto the set came a man Bryce recognized as that restauranty owner, instantly staring at his every move with eyes that were absurdly wide, almost like the cheeks of Nal before.
Then their final challenge was set upon them - a feast with no time limit, just a giant sausage the size of a small car and the warning that if anyone stopped eating for three seconds they would be disqualified. Though Bryce didn't worry about that and instead wondered how he was going to eat that. A pile of individual sausages, sure, but this monster was impossible to put into his mouth whole, let alone lift it by himself!
The countdown began though, and Nal couldn't seem happier by the looks of her, but then again she was the expert on eating food it seemed, always able to find more room in her mouth and/or stomach, assuming it was a big as that of a human. Maybe she only had a stomach and no other organs, that'd be funny.
Then, as the countdown neard the count of one, Bryce had a question pop into his mind, and he knew no one around him could really answer it. But if, like Nal had stated, there were many like her, why was she the only one like her participating? Ponderings for another time, it seemed as the countdown ended and Nal basically created a vacuum around it, to the point of Bryce facepalming in slight disgust, though with one eye looking on because he knew she was basically going to win this for them.
Now, Bryce had an idea figured out too and got up from his seat, raising his hands and ignoring the cutlery given to him. His hands motioned like claws and, as they were told they could start eating, Bryce would slam his hands into the sausage rapidly with such force it allowed him to rip chunks out of it, edible chunks.
So now he had the rhythm of eating and punching, fluidly putting the meat into his mouth and then instantly striking again.
But he also spent some brief moments looking at the cook of this monstrosity, beginning to wonder himself if he had any other specialties than sausages. ======================= TWC: 6,026

Nal didn't waste time ripping anything out of the sausage. She just began to bite. Eating her way into the monstrous meal, only using the hands to grip against the thing so that she could eat with stability. Chewing through the skin of the sausage, then the meat, quickly biting out a hole for her head to fit into. Then the shoulders... slowly eating her way into the massive sausage, slinking into the hole she made to be able to eat more from within. Indeed, none of the other competitors could challenge the ravenous appetite of the majin, however not for the lack of trying.
Team Shark's Appetite caved first. One of the men in bandanas tried to eat more than he could, ending up hurling the greasy sausages they ate, a janitor with a bucket swiftly made way to help keeping the festival grounds clean. With that, both the men were disqualified, then moved (and stumbled) away, to get their prize. The announcer commented on the events with fervour, people cheered, shouting out the names of their favourite teams - plenty people cheered for Shakp's Appetite, vast majority for the previous champions, but a sizeable group of people decided they would bet for the upstarts, seeing as so far, they had an equal score to the champions, perhaps hoping to dethrone the contrasting duo!
The gaunt man devoured chunks of the sausage much like Bryce did, tearing them out and chewing, but chewing slowly and methodically - just quick enough to not be disqualified, but slow enough to not overfill his stomach. His corpulent teammate gorged himself in a similar manner, though he didn't wait as long, chewing and gulping down much faster. He did have more space. But eventually, the two slowed and, in a moment of realisation, as Bryce still punch-scarfed the monstrous dish and Nal forced a cameraman to actually lean into the meal itself, seeing as she literally tunneled her way through the thing - the two set down their food at the same moment. Raised their hands, turned - and bowed towards Bryce, accepting his superiority in terms of devouring meat. Also Nal, who was still inside the thing, munching away.
"And that is it, folks! The winners are the new, rising stars of the sausage eating, TEAM EATING MACHINES! Congratulations to our new champions, and... uh... sir? You can tell your short friend she can stop eating now." - the man said, somewhat appalled by the fact Nal was still eating. But hearing that, she reluctantly crawled out of the sausage, looking ever so slightly upset. But soon enough, she was there, on the cameras, grinning at people alongside the serious technoman, as they were crowned the Champions of the Sausage, given crowns (made out of copper and with sausages instead of spiky bits as crowns usually have), a Golden Sausage Medal each and an invitation to the world famous Delicious Saikan, with a free meal voucher for each of the two - also an instruction that the Saikan is, indeed, not nearby, but actually on Papaya Island. And with the tournament over, everyone leapt at what was left of the huge sausage, to taste the champions' meal for themselves!
In the chaos, the Saikan owner and his gi-clad bodyguards vanished, the announcer fled as well, and Nal nicked a pair of sausages, to then bring them towards the poor woman in the registry. Causing plenty of confusion and a faint smile from her - and a grin on the majin's own face. They were champions now! For... however long it took for the next tournament to take place. Probably not too long, but hey, it was fun enough and she now felt like she actually was full... well, almost. There was always place for candy. "Hey, Bryce?" she said, looking over at the technoman yonder. "I need to go for a bit now. Got something to do, but I'll be back here soon and then we can travel together, yeah? To go eat our awesome meal in that restaurant place and maybe find Kiryu. Alright? Nice. See you!" She didn't wait for an answer. She just assumed things would work out - and now, Bryce could find that man he wanted to talk to and chat with him. Maybe. All that mattered to Nal was that she needed to finish her stuff before their travel...
