Nal had an Idea.
Again.
This time, the Idea was for an item. And the item was to be special and powerful, something she always liked the idea of. A scouter, but not just any old scouter, but instead one that was attuned to her specifically. To her brand of green power, that she had yet to meet anyone with... though she did sense others with it to the west. They were an idea for later, though, much later. Now, she had to formulate the plan.
Step one: make a scouter. She knew people that could make them, she knew places to just buy one, but one thing was on her mind recently. An unfinished business with a professor, Poblano by the name, who had an amazing scouter on her eye. It was beyond normal tech, because the professor was a brilliant mind, even if she had weird candy eating habits. She liked hugs though, at least until Kiryu scared her off, which was fair since they were trying to capture the woman, so it was understandable she'd feel way less cuddly after that was revealed. But, Nal needed to find the doctor again, meet her, get her to make an awesome scouter, and maybe help her with whatever caused her to be a wanted criminal in first place. Making villains into good guys was something heroes did, after all, right?
Step two: make the scouter resonate with her green magic. To that end she needed someone that was a super powerful green person like she was. (well, she was gray, but figuratively speaking, her aura was green. Partially.) That would be more of an issue, because she didn't really know any others like her, just the others in the west. But, she remembered something that the technoman Bryce told her, about gods and imaginary friends. God was a thing he had written on his chest and during that central city sausage eating thing, she heard others talk about it and wondering if he is the god up above. And talking more with them, she had heard of the so-called Kami territories in the west part of the land, perhaps that was exactly what she felt before - and even if not, and if this god was someone's imaginary friend... just asking about it could lead her to something. Even if this Kami was false, or didn't exist, there had to be some strong people in that area that could point her towards an awesome green magician like her, to maybe learn from and definitely help her make the awesome scouter a reality.
Step three: profit. Figuratively, but she saw people talk like that about multi-step plans so she just nicked the idea for herself gleefully. They tended to make the second to last point of the plan just some question marks, but Nal found that weird and didn't like it much.
Still, the first step -of- the first step was to find professor Poblano. And to that end, Nal had to attune to some weird device that Kiryu procured, sensing, flying and getting there. This time she had no device, but there was one distinct advantage of being Nal that no other majin had.
She never forgot an aura.
And having sensed Poblano's aura in the past, the majin could now focus down to pinpoint it again. So she did. Eyes closed, the sensing tendril turning around her head like a radar dish, her face scrunched up in the utmost focus. Somewhere out there... professor Poblano was hiding. And she would find her. Again. A faint reading was all Nal needed for this, so she focused on getting that reaidng. Flexing her proverbial mystical muscles to the fullest, like she never did before. Despite looking serene and peaceful on the outside, her mind and her spirit reached out, scouring the world and looking for traces of that familiar aura. Of the doctor and her machines, the majin would have to think of words to convince her... but she would do that later. Now, focus.
There.
The majin's head shifted very slightly. She grasped that faint signature and followed it with her mystical powers. Now to pinpoint it and get there...

Pepper escaped the clutches of the magus with powerful spellcasting with her life, as soon as he was able to evade her abilities as a tactician it was over before it even began, and in the spur of the moment she failed to notice the grey Majin managed to catch up to her whereabouts after so long. The green lens scouter over her eye began to beep as Nal drew near, rather than wait for anything to take place, she immediately blew up the bunker she was hidden in. While the scouter only alerted her of others, she had no idea it was someone she met before, and so she began packing her stuff into Dyno Capsules as she rushed to escape through her submarine. Once she slid into the captain’s chair of the underwater vessel, the turbines roared, creating several bubbles under water. The bounty was still on her head, she had been escaping bounty hunters ever since she blew up the Capsule Corp lab with her father’s research, and she had been passing her time building mechanical projects. Ever since she was a university student, she wanted to be an engineer, but instead chose to be a chemical engineer to continue her father’s work of developing a healing tank serum that also functioned as a fountain of youth. A decision she later regretted but had no desire for Capsule Corp to obtain after funding the project as if they were the ones who invented it. An internal issue that spread like wildfire which was triggered by her saiyan DNA of naturally being destructive. While she never killed anyone in her wake, she did manage to destroy all the research, which resulted in a bounty. Free from the familial bonds that she wasted most of her youth in, she was a wanted criminal, living freely in the southern seas creating the mechanisms that made her happy. The scouter kept counting, whoever it was that was fast approaching, was more than capable of lifting the entire submarine out of the water, based on her personal power scale. Pepper was sweating, as she punched the engines, diving deep under the water pressure to hide. [363] Nal

There it was.
Nal took off. Detemrined to get her awesome new item, she cared little for pacing and just went on with all of her speed, causing a thunderclap as she took off, soaring faster than it did. Following that faint little singal... underwater. Makes sense, that was where she was last hiding. Good to know people had habits too!
Getting near the ocean did not take long. The speedy majin soared through the skies, scaring birds and leaving a superheated cone of air in her wake, like a small comet tail. She cared little for it, the heat was little more than an inconvenience. As would be the water pressure, as she was about to find out - seeing the sea, the majin altered her course and struck the surface. For her, it was just a quick change of density - water put a little more resistance than air did, so she slowed down, though still trundled on like a torpedo, the water bubbling around her from friction. For those looking, the impact with the ocean have caused a huge splash, cresting over the beach as a miniature wave, collapsing upon some poor beachgoers, some of whom complained loudly and others - mostly children - laughed and cheered. Some few probably wondered what was the gray blur up to - the people of Southlands knew that usually, this majin was up to mostly beneficial stuff.
This time, Nal was diving deep, squinting as water got into her eyes - and her everything, really, the Majin wasn't yet soaked due to the water evaporating from the friction, but the watery mist in her little, personal air bubble definitely didn't leave her dry either. Fortunately, the music box and the headphones were stored away in capsules, safely, as Nal knew those things did not like water much. Soon, there was something in the distance. It was that weird underwater boat professor ran away in last! Grinning to herself, Nal sped up even more, casually shrugging off the crushing pressure that was present this deep. She was a majin, and despite her own thoughts about it, quite a powerful one at that.
Well, relatively. She was no Buu, but still.
The majin decided to overtake the submarine and stop, causing an underwater shockwave that would, probably, jostle the submarine a bit. Then, she swam over to the thing, attaching herself to the vehicle. Grinning, she sought the periscope that miss Poblano would have to peek through to see what in the world was going on. At first, Nal tried looking through it herself, resulting in a giant eye on the receiving end of the periscope, but realising it shows her nothing, the girl leaned back, grinning into the glass. She tried speaking, but apart from some air bubbles, nothing came out. Nal looked around at them, then - remembered where she was, with a pouty expression growing on her face. Instead, the girl knocked onto the hatch of the submarine, nodding sagely. She had to enter to talk!

The scouter began to continue going off until it finally stopped counting at the same instance Majin Nal appeared right in front of the submarine. While the demon moved her mouth, no sound traveled on to the bridge of the sub, she realized seconds later, to swim over to bang on the hatch overhead. It was far too late to escape now, she was much stronger from their first encounter, the numbers of the scouter read: 26,631
Perhaps the saiyan should train rather than tinker with robots if she was faced with such formidable opponents in the future. Unlike most saiyans who enjoyed a good fight, the engineer preferred isolation, and now someone was politely knocking to be allowed in the depths of the sea. The submarine slowly came to a stop, it was no longer necessary to make an escape, it seemed this was different from collecting the bounty on her head, and as perceptive as she was about social interactions it was worth having a conversation over the matter.
Pepper stood up from the cockpit, she climbed a step ladder to open the hatch using a keypad, Nal would then be able to enter a small tubular cavity filled with ocean water, the hatch would then close behind her and she would see a second hatch with the red haired saiyan looking through a small window to meet her gaze. Once she was trapped inside this particular chamber, the sea water was expelled out, and a robotic female voice announced: Depressurization Complete.
The second hatch opened, Nal would be able to enter the bridge, still slightly wet from the dive into the ocean, but otherwise would find herself in tight quarters of the bridge which was only meant for two crew members to operate. The hatch would close after she went through it, the hatch wheel would automatically spin to secure the submarine from any leaks, and everything was disturbingly quiet.
The two females were of the same height, Pepper was only slightly taller with her heeled boots, and she crossed her arms.
“I take it, you want something from me?” The saiyan sneered, prideful all the same, her grey eyes then met with the black sclera and red irised Majin. “Well what is it?”
After a beat, she crossed her arms, they were tightly cramped in a small space, but there were more questions than answers at this exact moment. [401] [764]

The ship opened! Nal wasted no time getting in, only to find herself in a narrow tube, full of water, and with only a small slit to view the inside from, in which there were familiar eyes. Nal grinned - this was quite a nostalgia trip, in a way! Except... different. Her eyes had to fill the entire inside view from this place, which, in Nal's own estimate, had to look rather scary and creepy, given they were almost entirely black with red irises. Like a demon. Maybe Majins were demons after all? This would explain some things. Like why Zam is so eager to break things...
But those thoughts evaporated when the water did as well - sucked out by some sort of device, probably, and then a voice said something about depressurization. Nal frowned - depressed machines were definitely a bad thing, she still remembered Bryce the technoman and his own anger problems. So as it were, when the chamber opened and Nal walked out, she looked at the professor with a hint of worry in the eyes. "Are you depressed? Or is your computer? I know what can help!" she said, fishing a sour apple gum cube from her candy pocket and reaching out to give it to the saiyan. Apple was always a thing that brought a smile to her mouth, at least! The majin nodded to herself, regardless of the candy's fate, her hairtacles already morphing and shifting to mimic the professor's cute hairstyle. Nal liked cute hairstyles. "And I want your help, yes, but I also want to help you! See, you have this awesome eye thing" - the gray girl pointed at the scouter Poblano was wearing - "and I want one too. I want a super special one and you are the only one I ever saw with a fancy one like this. But when we last time came here you said you were lonely and, well, we fought you but I didn't know why. Can you tell me why you're running and hiding and why are there people chasing you like that?" - Nal asked, with a slow blink and a wide smile, her head tilted somewhat. She was curious of this whole story, and if it meant she could help someone be happier? That's positively awesome!
The thought that professor Poblano may have been chased for a good reason did cross Nal's mind. She'd have to decide herself whether that was or wasn't true. And deciding was a thing Nal was definitely good at, after all, all this overwhelming amount of thinking was there for a reason. Thinking made better decisions, the gray majin was absolutely sure of that. After all, it just made sense, right?

Pepper was alarmed to be asked such a blatant personal question, while this was not their first encounter, they were not exactly friends or professional acquaintances in terms of psychology to divulge whether or not the saiyan was depressed. What gave the Majin that idea? Nonetheless it seemed this demoness was confused about common social cues and total disregard of manners.
“Unless we’re close friends or in an office where you are a licensed Psychologist, generally speaking, you are not remotely allowed to ask someone if they are depressed. Otherwise, earthlings take offense to being questioned about something so personal, and you might give people the wrong idea.”
It was possible that the Majin was selective in the knowledge she gathered. Finally, she revealed what she came all the way down into the depths of the sea for: a scouter. Pepper blinked her grey eyes for a while, Capsule Corp made all kinds of scounters, except the one the engineer was making well that made sense since it was clearly superior.
“Miss Majin Nal.” She began, since they introduced each other properly the first time around, and nearly locked lips. “You have a good pair of eyes if you realize a modified scouter has its benefits. What did you have in mind for one of your own?”
At this point she prattled on about how lonely Pepper might have been and wondered if it was because she was running about while being chased. The engineer sneered at those questions and nodded her head.
“I was alone here in the submarine, but you’re here now.” The maroon haired saiyan ran her index finger along Nal’s arm seductively. Then she realized her affections were not going to work a second time since they were disregarded before.
“Well, if I help you make a scouter, what’s in it for me? Earthlings give and take otherwise the world will stop turning. That’s precisely why there is a bounty on my head, Capsule Corp used their powerful team of lawyers to take my father’s research, so I blew it all up because they were taking something I worked my whole life for. Now I live freely under the sea, left with my own devices, until the end of time itself.” [375] [1,139] Nal

The majin blinked. She was, indeed, confused about the whole social thing, very much unaware of how the intricacies of social life worked. Alaka probably would be more knowledgeable - she had a father, after all! Sort of, Nal assumed it was a summoner who adopted her - but she was not here, Nal was. The girl nodded, considering the questions, curling her lips and observing that finger tracing her arm curiously. It felt odd to be touched by someone without said touch being done with the entire fist launched with tremendous strength. It honestly wasn't bad at all.
"Oh, I didn't know that. I wonder why? It's important question to know if someone's sad, it means I can try to make them happy again, no?" - she asked, still tossing the apple candy in her hand, offering it to the doctor. "But, yeah, if it's a bad thing then maybe I shouldn't ask. But..." the majin tilted her head, considering a few things. Perhaps...
"I want the thingy to be awesome, better than a normal thing you can buy. But I want it to also read weak spots better andI want it to be receptive to my green magic" - saying which, the gray gal blinked - and the mystic's green aura encompassed her, doing all of nothing. Were she injured, it would heal the majin, but - she was fine, apart from the thoroughly soaked clothes, that now were making a veritable pool on the submarine's floor. "But from you I just want to make the thingy, make it super awesome, make it best at telling weak spots and predicting dodges and then I'll find someone to help me fill it with magicks. If that's okay!" - Nal grinned, because here came her idea. "And, well, I could give you zeni but you don't really need any, not here underwater, so how about this: I can let you live in Nalakazam! It's an awesome city that me and two of my friends made for all majins to live in, but we already have other people working in our candy factories, so maybe you could live with us? Make all kind of awesome stuff and show it off to people. We won't take it for ourselves, because we won't really care! And if the capsule guys come looking for you... maybe I can pay them not to. I found some awesome items on my adventures and got a bit of those silly papers with faces on them that you buy things for. So how about this? You help me get the awesome scouter and I help you get a new home free from the capsule guys." - The majin nodded sagely. It sounded fair in her head!

Again her affections were met with an offering of candy, well that was the end of that routine, and Pepper gave up on the idea of flirting all together after failing at it twice with this grey skinned woman. As the pool of sea water collected on the submarine floor, she took the candy, and offered a towel for Nal to dry up with.
“Dry up or you will catch a cold--I think.” The saiyan was not too familiar with Majins being able to get sick from their basal temperature being below average. “Eh? Well among strangers it's better to respect their privacy, even if they are sad, sometimes coping involves being left alone. However, if it’s a friend and it is someone you care about as significant in your life, then asking about it is completely permissible because you’re friends.”
On second thought, Pepper only had two other friends, and as the leaders of science it was never personal enough to reach that level of trust. At this point, Nal went on to explain that in exchange for creating the custom scouter, she would offer refuge against capsule corp along with other Majins by the sound of it. Every day, her scouter picked up the power levels of formidable fighters, the maroon haired saiyan was running out of options, and it was becoming difficult to escape if Nal was able to locate her twice since the bounty was placed on her head.
“You have a deal.” She popped the apple candy in her mouth, “I could use additional protection in these trying times. Every day, it becomes more dangerous, and I just want to be able to create new things rather than waste time with earthling laws.”
After a beat, she extended her hand for the grey Majin to take and shake to solidify their agreement.
“When you shake my hand, we have an agreement, and once you dry off I can show you my lab. I will need to study your...green magic first to determine how it would work with technology. I have a few ideas but we need to test my theories first.”
Since the mystic was able to harness power through natural means, there must be a way to store it, and prevent the scouter from blowing up if it was made with the same power source.

The majin grinned, listening in to the replies as she took the towel and begun to dry up. She wasn't sure if she could catch colds, but even if, the green magic would probably just cure it... and if not, she could just find a way to make it do so. Probably. The girl wasn't sure about that, but that was an answer for later anyway, for if she got sick or found someone else that was sick. In hindsight, she should've tried that on the sick people from the village where Grisha was helping with the big worms. But, even if she was sick immune or able to cure it, there was no need to pour water all over the nice, metal floor. Water makes metal rust, after all.
"Okay!" - she said, reaching out to shake the hand. Part of her worried if she and her friends were able to actually keep the professor safe, but soon that concern was dismissed. First, Nalakazam was a city free of laws other than the majin, or at least that's something she figured out while thinking of Alaka and her car theft. And second, Zam was in there. Zam was, like, the strongest majin ever. Except maybe legendary Majin Buu. They definitely should be able to to things to keep their new friend safe - and, most importantly, the friend wanted to be there too. And, since she seemed to like touching Nal a lot, the gray gal decided to try and pull the doctor in for a friendly little hug, with a very, VERY controlled amount of strength. She just wanted to give her new friend (since, to her, this was how friends were made) a nice, warm embrace. Embraces were nice.
"Can you fly? I can take your whole underwater boat to our home if you want, but you'll need to get something to cool down a little" - the majin spoke, whether the hug was successful or not. She studied the saiyan up and down. "You already have nice cute shorts, good for hot weathers, but the thingy under the vest would make you really hot. Our home is on the mountain that people say used to be on fire all the time. But we can deal with that later! Now I will follow you" - Nal was pretty happy about this turn of events. This scouter was the best idea ever.

After shaking hands at their agreement, Nal felt compelled to pull the saiyan in for a hug, a rather damp hug which caused Pepper to shudder. Eventually the Majin pulled away wondering if she could fly, which she replied with a nod, the ability came naturally to her after facing that teenage magus and barely escaped with her life. Rather than bring up a sore wound from the past, she looked down at her own style of dress, it was outdated, there was no time between her scientific research to browse the latest trends. The Capsule Corp top was actually made of special safety material which was fire, shock, chemical, and waterproof protected. The primary reason she wore it, since the relocation of her lab was in area that was hot and dry she took off the orange vest and long sleeve undershirt revealing her black shorts were actually part of a camisole style unitard. “My lab is further into the submarine. We can relocate after the tour.” Pepper placed her hand on a wall, in the tight quarters of the bridge, activating a door to open which led to the largest part of the submarine with the engine exposed behind a thick translucent powered barrier to mask the sound on the far back end. “Everything we need to make a custom scouter is here. I just have to run a few tests with your green magic. Well, are you ready to go? I just need to resurface the sub and we can pull it out of the water which will take a tremendous amount of effort.”[266] [1,797]

The majin listened, nodded and thought to herself. This was an awesome day. A new friend, a new resident for the Great Majin City... that wasn't a majin, but it was her and the others that made up the rules, so this could absolutely be an exception. They'd just have to get used to her being weirdly calm, and not pester the woman too much. Alaka probably would be the best of them all not to, Zam on the other hand... yeah, that'd be a lot of work. But, a work worth it. Of course, still would she have to find those people - "jerks", she almost thought, before stopping herself - that wanted doctor Pepper captured, and negotiate with them. Nal had some money and could easily make more by being a hero, especially with an awesome scouter!
"I'm ready! Let's go!" - she said, grinning, bouncing on the spot, noticing how the doctor wore clothes on top of other clothes. Was that normal for people? Or maybe those on top were weighted clothes, like her own set from before. Or maybe it was just too cold down here and she had to change... yeah, in hindsight, that was exactly what Nal suggested. Stop overthinking! And start exploring. The doctor promised her a tour of the lab, and she did like tours. And maybe she could learn something since she wanted to be a doctor too. Well, sort of. Hero first, doctor later. Might as well learn how to heal people better!

“I am not familiar with your comrades since I have been out of touch with society but I hope they do not interfere with my workspace. I hope you understand.” Pepper walked across the lab as she spoke.
Sparks were flying off some wiring overhead, a machine was constantly grinding against a dense katchin metal piece, shaping it into differently, while a metal claw collected the pieces. Nuts, bolts, screws and washers were constantly being created by this machine to supply the engineer with parts for bigger machines. The sparks dispersed before it touched their heads so it was safe to walk under it. A glass wall divided the machine equipment from the computer lab and the tour was concluded as it was an open concept submarine while the bridge was designed for one person to operate.
“I made this submarine to meet all my needs...prior to dealing with Capsule Corp. I gave up everything I had been researching so that I can focus on what I truly enjoy: Engineering. I actually discovered it while making the lab so it was just as well. Everything happens for a reason.”
After a beat she returned to the bridge, sat in the cockpit chair, and motioned the vessel to resurface. With buoyancy it was easy to move the heavy submarine but it would take all their power to pull it out of the water into the air due to its density.
“Make sure to stretch. We may pull something and injure ourselves if we do not distribute the weight of the submarine evenly so we should get it out of the water by handling these key points.”
Pepper pulled up the blueprints for the submarine on a holographic display on the heads up display and digitally highlighted the points of interest in neon green.
“Got it? Let’s go.”
The hatch automatically opened in two places, since they were no longer under water, there was no need to wait between the airlock, the sound of gulls was overheard in the distance, and the saiyan took flight towards the sky then dove into the sea to hold one of the key positions; she waited for the majin to assist her with carrying the vessel to their new destination across the sea.
