Appearance: Vanella wears a muted-navy long-coat with a high collar. The edges of the bottom part of this cloak are tattered and holey, likely because it's been worn for so long. Overtop of the cuffs are black gloves that extend just to the half-way point of the forearms. While the coat is usually undone, there appears to be some body-armor underneath it; white plates that extend to cover the ribs, with a flexible muted-icy blue material beneath the chest, over the abdomen. His pants are a soft black, matching the gloves, with white spots at the hips and either side of each calve, though those particular patterns are somewhat obscured by the tall boots with brown tips and a matching color to the coat. Around the neck he wears a dark red scarf, and above that a white mask. It's clear that he's not fully human, as the long, blue tail and curved from the base of his spine and the black horns extending from either side of the captains hat he wears makes it obvious about his race; some kind of lizard beast-man. The mask itself obscures the bottom half of his face and nose, and extending to the sides to cover the rest of his head, but has holes for his horns. Around each eye are large black spots that meld extend beneath the helmet. On his hip one can usually see a sword, though he doesn't quite need it, he enjoys the options it opens up.
Personality: Vanella, while arrogant, is not one to underestimate an opponent easily. He rarely takes chances, and when he does, he maximizes the odds in his favor with as many advantages as he can get. He's patient, like a snake, and will wait for what he views as the perfect opportunity to unleash an onslaught of destruction.

History: The captain of the Black Diamond Pirates and the ship The Cold Shoulder, sighed. He was in his cabin, absently sipping a mug of orange juice. One might think it wasn’t a very ‘piratey’ drink, but they’d be wrong. He’d seen what the ravages of scurvy could do to a person, and he wouldn’t have such a thing happen to his crew. Thus, he made sure to always pick up two crates of oranges, and ordered the chefs to give each crew member two oranges a day. Didn’t matter when they ate them, as long as they did.
Currently, he was in his personal cabin, wondering what the hell he was going to do. The captain was dreadfully, woefully, incredibly bored. It’d been over two months since this ennui had overtaken him, and no matter what he did, nothing seemed to be able to cure him of this condition. From raiding merchant ships to pillaging nobleman’s personal islands, he’d done all the things he could to cure himself.
A sneer crossed his face from under his face-mask. Boredom. His most hated enemy… no one deserves to be bored, that most terrible malady of the mind… Another sigh, then his guard came up as someone knocked on his cabin door. He’d specifically asked to not be disturbed, but… there was only one person who would be bold enough to do so.
“Enter.” He called, placing the mug on the desk. The door opened to reveal his first-mate, Amot. The man was dressed in his usual garb of cotton pants, red sash and bandanna, and an open black vest to show off his bronze chest.
“Cap’n.” The pirate said, shuffling a bit as he closed the door.
“...Amot. Now, I do recall that I specifically asked to not be disturbed… care to explain yourself?” Vanella’s voice was icy as he stood.
Amot cringed, scratching the back of his head. “...we, uh. The crew- well, Rang, that is, uh- he heard of something that could help ya out, cap’n.”
Vanella raised a scaly brow. He hadn’t told anyone of his condition...
“That is, he heard of something, and I thought it would, uh, help ya, cap’n.”
Vanella nodded, making a small ‘go-on’ gesture. He wasn’t entirely surprised that Amot had figured out his terminal case of boredom. The man was observant to a high degree.
“Well, there’s a world martial arts tournament coming up, yeah? Maybe you could enter. Make some coin, and cure your, uh, boredom.”
Vanella paused, considering this. A martial arts tournament… Yes, that could be exactly what he needed. Under his natural face-mask, he smiled. “...Amot, where is this tournament?”
“Papaya Islands, cap’n.”
Vanella’s smile grows wider. ‘Perfect’, he thought. “Right… relay this to the crew; Sudachee will be in charge while we are gone, and don’t get in trouble you can’t take on.”
Amot saluted and turned, leaving the cabin to do as he ordered.
‘Oh yes… this will be great.’

In truth, Vanella's true appearance is actually on display; the only clothes he wears are the boots, gloves, coat, scarf and hat. The rest of his "outfit" is his natural body, as he's truly an arcosian!
