For those that are capable of it, flying proves to be a very exhilarating experience, unlike the rather mundane affair of driving in your typical enclosed automobile. While thousands of meters in the air, everything feels enhanced. The sightseeing, the heavy breeze and such. It was all so exciting. The fresh air was free to be greedily absorbed while basking in the sunlight. The wind feels thick and seems has a consistency of its own. It's touch is evident. Every second is revelled in with an unmatched authority. The many shades of blue seeping into the sky like a spilled bottle of ink was a sight to behold on the horizon to Cylie. She could admire it all day, but unfortunately, she had more important matters to handle first. She scanned the ground hundreds of meters below her, locating a large van parked right beside an abandoned building. She soared downwards toward it, counting four energy signatures as she did so. Four? There were supposed to be five. Shrugging, Cylie continued to head down towards it. As her energy left a fiery red trail in the sky, a blonde half fox called out to the swordswoman. Cylie's aura disintegrated, and with a smirk, she did a little flip before landing gracefully on the desert floor, feet first. With both hands, she removed the motorcycle helmet she wore, allowing her unnecessarily long ponytail to breathe. She shook her head rather violently as she dropped the helmet on the ground.
"Agh, I looked kinda ridiculous, didn't I?"
Her appearance was rather ridiculous and odd. Motorbike helmet aside, she was dressed in an almost fully black traditional school girl uniform with a large sling bag around her shoulder. She placed the bag on the floor and then unzipped it, revealing that it was filled with valuables. She and the others have just returned from a robbery. The fox lady spoke rather shakily, "Cylie! Thank Kami! I-I thought something had happened to you for a minute."
"If you thought so then you know nothing about me, Keish."
She turned around to face the two other people lazing around the van, but then she paused. She counted only two motorcycles propped up against the wall of the run-down house they were next to.
"Two bikes? What the hell happened? Where's B?"
Keisha rubbed the back of her neck gingerly. Voice still shaky, she explained what had happened. While she and the others were making their getaway, B had unfortunately crashed his bike. Whether he was currently still breathing or not was unknown, but regardless the police have probably already gotten to him by now. Cylie's teeth grit.
"Damnit!"
"W-What's gonna happen to his part of the cut?"
"If you even think about eyeing the money I'll cut you. I'll hold onto the extra cash. Hanna, say what you gotta."
Cylie was referring to the woman still seated in the driver's seat of the van used in the crime. She hopped out, and addressed the others with a shout before providing the details of their next move.
Alright everyone, listen up! The job did not go as expected, and the cops are gonna be looking for a crew, so it's best we pack it up and get outta here. We think it would be a good idea to move north and set up camp there, at least until we shake this heat. Xylo will be running things in the Central while Cylie's away. Everyone on board?"
Murmuring with agreement, the others nodded their heads solemnly. After Hanna confirmed everyone's concurrence with her gaze, she continued, "We leave the Free Lands scattered. Not as a group. And don't worry about your cuts. Once the rocks have been sold, I'll wire everyone's zeni. Until then, we lay low. That means no new cars, no vacations-"
"No nothing!" Cylie angrily interjected.
Hanna sighed at the interruption, recalling a botched job. After discussing a few more minor details, the small band of thieves began packing up, and everyone began leaving the scene. Within the next week, each individual was heading north on their lonesome, Cylie arriving first by flying.
Initially, she wasn't expecting beautiful scenery. The only thing she wanted at this point was to expand her little criminal 'playground'. However, flying over North City was rather appealing to the senses. The people, the smells, the sights to see, the only thing that Cylie immediately hated about this place was the damn temperature. With a frown, she landed a few miles outside of the city limits, into a random forest she spotted while in the air. From there, she trudged on. North City was her next stop, where Keisha had a contact willing to house the two. She did not know what new opportunities the Northern Lands would bring, but whatever they were, they better not be disappointing.
