It was raining.
Cold rain.
So cold that the droplets turned to little flakes of ice.
Konja looked up at that overcast sky and the frozen rain as she stood up in the Taco King employee parking space behind the building.
She'd seen it on TV before. "Snow". Still something she had a hard time understanding, although it was simple enough in theory.
Back on Planet Plant, she lived in the warmer regions. No snow during the cold season, but they did occasionally have hail, particularly up the mountain on one side of the valley. So in that way, snow was hail, but smaller.
Instead of using it for blasting target practise or just being a nuisance to the crops, snow was... light. Fluffy.
The yam farmer descended the steps to the whitening asphalt, as the layer thickened. In a few paces, she was at the motorcycle area and mounted her chopper.
The path home tonight would be more slippery, if what she had seen on TV was any indication.
And even if keeping her ki up made her accident-proof, the chopper wasn't.
"Yamoshi spare this humble cart," she prayed in a low voice as she started down the snowy road.
Technically it wasn't a cart. More of a chariot. But it was meant to transport a worker to and from work, not drive a warrior through battle.
So a cart it was...
And though the road be slippery, a bit more challenging to navigate... the gentle frozen rain, the 'snow', was a pretty sight to behold. And somehow, it seemed to blend so well with all of these winter holiday decorations all the people and businesses had set up over the past few weeks.
Well, they were the ones who lived here longer. It only made sense they knew what looked right at home sitting covered in thick white sheets of snow.
Suffice it to say, the way home might have been a bit harder to ride through, but all of this surrounding beauty made it worth the effort...
