Seeing that her skills were still lacking, Chardonnay decided to train harder so she could be of great help to her brother and the twins the next time they go into battle. The filming for the advertisement of Shinsei Ryuu Gakuen helped in sword training, this time, she was alone in the forest somewhere in the Western Lands. Hopping off her Yuki Kinto-un, she landed on the soft grass, and did a little bit more stretching before starting her training regiment. The area was a small forest patch, surrounded by a few oaks and beech trees and other deciduous trees. Chardonnay breathed deeply at first, it was a good thing the area was secluded, she could practice here to her heart’s content without having to worry about what other people think. The little girl was still adjusting to her new way of life, juggling responsibilities of being the baroness of Grape Vine Village, taking care of the wine business of their clan, as well as training to become stronger so she could protect everyone in their village. The death of her parents was a major turning point, and she had already accepted it even at such a young age, she realized how the world can be so cruel, and if she would remain weak, how is she going to defend the people she cared about? There was no turning back, she was forced to step forward, and she would run after her goal to be the best and strongest version of herself. Princess Juniper taught her how to use the pocket dimension spell, at that moment, she had no time to try it for herself, since they headed to the northern borders as soon as possible to offer aid to the rest of the Pig Demon Duchies against the namekians who were invading the territory. The little girl concentrated her ki on her palm, and slowly, a portal opened levitating a few inches from her hand. “Wooaah!” the girl exclaimed in excitement, astonished that she was able to do it on her first try. She then pulled out some Dyno Capsules from her pocket and put it in the dimension she just created, and the void closed soon afterward. “Now, for the other technique….” The baroness spread her hands, again, concentrating ki on her palms, after a while, the wind began to blow gently, swaying the leaves of the trees nearby, until the breeze started to feel heavy, condensed, and cold, she then put her hands close together, and the breeze she gathered formed into a ball between her palms, she pushed it forward, directing it towards the tree in front of her, and just like that, the tree got frozen at the first contact of her attack. Something exploded with exhilaration. A voiced flux of surprise and excitement stole the beastkin’s eyes away from the straightward direction he walked and to the side where the sound originated. Where his paces were to take him were postponed. Not so much by simply hearing a voice and perhaps some other strange soundings, but oddly, winds began to pick up around the area. Loki was then offered more than enough to be given pause. An energetic expression of awe and the ostensible spontaneous kicking-up of an all-encompassing gale.
His miniscule power had already been buried beneath a subtle paranoia and unfounded caution. So, it barely burbled forth from the benighted innards of his physique’s murky depths. With his decision to lend an eye to whatever situation was unfolding, he was confident little could easily catch his evasive presence outside of the physical senses. Surely, he was quiet enough to slip over exposed tree roots, skirt the borders of clumps of foliage and bypass accidently applying his weight to flimsy, ill-placed twigs.
Loki was able to partially round a tree. His gaze settled upon a young girl, it appeared, and as it did, the air itself grew chilled, heavy. In having noticed this, he drew an eye all around his surroundings, watching the leaves billow and the branches sway from what he assumed to be her supernatural influence. Keeping his attention upwards, the sway of the umber limbs subsided as the circling gales contracted and, eventually, appeared to be held between the girl’s palms. As he observed, he could not help but get the feeling that somehow, what she was doing was somewhat similar to what he does. Though, his influence had yet to reach the winds themselves.
With a whoosh and crackle, an adjacent tree took the brunt of the conjured, compressed winds and was immediately overcome with an encasing of ice. His eyes followed the projection and stopped at the site of impact and as he bore witness to it, he felt an inch sweep its way across his tail.
“Ah!” Loki exclaimed, grabbing hold of it and scratching it away. “What was that?” He asked nobody in particular. He momentarily forgot himself and as quickly as he could, brought his focus back atop the girl. ‘Welp, ya went and done it now, Loki,’ he thought to himself. He could have just walked off after somewhat satisfying his curiosity. Now, however, he was now able to not only be perceived, but perceived as a multitude of things. What was he doing there hiding behind a tree watching the youthful individual?
“...Hey,” he said with a wave perhaps a little too casual. |445| |PL: 1 - Suppressed|

After a deep breath, she relaxed and watched as her target tree got enclosed in ice, feeling rather satisfied with the outcome. A soft rustle was heard within the vicinity; if she was not mistaken, she also heard a gentle voice yelping right after her attack connected to the tree. Did she just hit someone? Turquoise eyes thoroughly scanned the area, first looking to her sides-- left and right, and then to her front. She tilted her head, narrowed her eyes, and slowly she could make out the figure hiding behind an adjacent tree near her make-shift opponent, who seemed to be waving at her. A beastman, with brown fur, and large pointy ears. Chardonnay blinked twice, how long had he been watching? She wasn’t used to people observing or fixing their eyes on her as she got anxious easily. A slight blush tinted her face, which might not be that evident considering she was a few meters away from the fox. “Ah, hello there mister,” the little girl drew closer to him, “I-I’m sorry. Did I happen to hit you? You see, I am still learning this technique,” Chardonnay bowed in apology , “ Strange, I know I made sure there was no one in the vicinity,” she muttered to herself, recalling if she saw the beast-man earlier, “ How long have you been there anyway? It’s embarrassing that you had to see my sloppy moves,” lowering her gaze, disappointed at her own recklessness. Again. [246/702] Loki

This was most definitely already evident, but while this was no mere little girl, it was still a small, innocent child. They simply wielded a sizable amount of power. She was even blushing - not that Loki was close enough to really catch wind of it at all, but certainly the language her physique spoke suggested that his intrusion evoked a certain unwelcome timidity. Despite that, Loki’s own greeting, shoddily crafted, succeeded in spawning one in return.
She did approach, however. It was sort of like a cascading wall of water - a waterfall one admired with a sense of awe in the distance. However, now the waterfall of energy was moving and towards him no less. The very thought itself was enough to bring about a heart-quivering quake of anxiety - a start to act as a catalyst to anyone’s fight-or-flight response.
Did she happen to hit him? Loki was not sure. Perhaps a shard of ice found its way to his tail. It could have been something else entirely - something from within. Some form of recognition that manifested physically, even; but that was not how Loki was going to respond nor was it how he could respond. He was not exactly privy to much enigmatic information regarding himself. “Oh, did you?” he questioned. “Well if so, no big deal. It looks like your technique is really comin’ along though, eh?”
She even bowed.
“Oh, well I’m pretty short maybe?” Loki’s ears did not seem to allow the words to escape them even under the cover of a low volume. “I also turned inwards a little bit and shrunk my presence since the woods can be a pretty scary place. See?” And after balling his hand into a fist as it hung at his hip, he opened it. The gesture was accompanied by a small gale - nothing big and the resulting spike in power nothing worth writing home about.
“Not that.. It’s much-- anyway, I saw that ice move. I thought it looked pretty great. I was only there for that, actually. I made my way over after hearin' a shout, so I just made it in time for that. I have a technique that’s the polar opposite of that, really - but that’s what I'd consider sloppy. It’s something I have to force out, but yours looked to come out with relative ease, yeah?”

“You think so, mister? Thank you. I still have a long way to go though…” the baroness replied in astonishment when the fox assured her of having a good grasp with her technique. Apparently, the beast man also overheard what she said about securing the area for herself, stating that the possibility of the baroness being unaware of his presence was because of his size and the fact that he suppressed his ki allowed him to watch her undetected. Chardonnay did not dismiss his remark, but it was also plausible that she was so immersed in her training that she used all her energy to get that move right, instead of worrying about her surroundings. Either way, both points were valid. She widened her eyes in amusement when the fox instantly grew his size, it was a familiar ability Echo and Note were able to manifest as demons, and the baroness attributed that perhaps the brown fur also happened to be one. The beastman then confessed that it hasn’t been too long since he witnessed her practice, further stating that he was actually there out of curiosity, that the power she just unleashed piqued his interest, enticing him to follow the wind wherever it came from. To the little girl, it was quite strange to become curious of others’ abilities. Sure, she was training to get stronger, so she could protect their village alongside her brother, but becoming interested in what others were capable of had not crossed her mind yet. Was it a necessary characteristic of a fighter? The fox continued to speak, and now he was talking about his own ability, humbly admitting that it still needed quite a lot of work. “I’m not so sure about that, you seem to be an experienced fighter mister. By the way, I forgot to introduce myself, I’m sorry for the rudeness. My name is Chardonnay, and you are?”She bowed again, it was a custom among the Pig Demon Duchies to offer respect to people even at their first meeting, and as a noble, she was taught these formalities as young as she could possibly remember. "Anyway uhmm... I'm still not used to practicing while someone is watching... but I don't mean to shun you away either..." There was quite a long pause as Chardonnay thought hard of possible options, until she parted her lips to speak again, " How about we train together here? If you don't have anywhere else to go at the moment," It was something she wasn't used to yet, as it would be the first time she would do training with a stranger. [440/1,142] Loki

The girl certainly displayed ample amounts of civility. It was not an entirely foreign disposition, but neither was it an especially common one. Loki was not one to ever admit such a thing, but it was most definitely something he wished to see more of - a slightly hypocritical thought until times more recent than not.
“Oh, experienced? Well…” It felt like he never had the intention to commit to finishing that response. It was more like a vocalized manifestation of the effectiveness of the girl’s genial puffery. Fortunately, she continued and as a result, the opportunity to amend his rambling slipped him by to his mild relief. With the mention of her having not introduced herself, it became more than apparent he was just as, if not more so, guilty.
“Right, I should’ve done that a while ago, eh? My name’s Loki. Loki Fox and I do know how on-point that last name is,” Loki said preemptively. It was attempt at some light-hearted humour. Evidence of such was found in the tone in which he spoke. It appeared he desired to ensure it was not something to be taken seriously. After having witnessed her bow, he did the same. The awkwardness of doing so, however, made it far more subdued than it was supposed to be.
Leave it to Loki to be so weird. How long was he going to stand there? She was practicing and meant to continue to do so, but admittedly, it was strange to have some stranger creepily watching you all the while.
“Oh, train with you?” he echoed after hearing the suggestion. “Yeah, I can do that. I definitely don’t have anywhere else to be right now. Was trying to find a place to be, actually.” He chuckled, albeit it was a very short-lived chortle.
“Have you tried that on a moving target before?” Loki asked with his paces revived. He was walking over to the inflicted tree, gesturing to it as he looked it over once more from a new and nearer vantage point. What he was suggesting brought an inner dialogue into being within the beastkin’s skull. It was asking him if training with someone that, at least, appeared so young was a good idea or not. He was certain she would be fine against many threats regardless of their age, size, and shape with what he glimpsed of her own power, but still… It was a tiny bit strange. He shrugged the thought off.
“It’s intended for combat, right? You’re right about me being a fighter - or rather, an aspiring one. Is that your goal, too?”

“Nice to meet you, Mr. Loki Fox!” she greeted first, and giggled at his successful attempt of humor, “It sure is.”Her suggestion to train together was gladly welcomed, the fox further revealing that he didn’t have anywhere to go and that he was actually trying to find a place to be. Whether that statement was spoken in a literal or metaphorical sense, Chardonnay could only guess. She felt she held no position to ask the fox just yet, as it might seem that she was trying to stick her nose into his personal business. Maybe later, if they could ease the awkward tension after some friendly duel. The baroness followed Loki walk towards the now-frozen tree she targeted earlier, asking if she had tried the technique to a moving target, “Ah. Not yet, I’ve been practicing the technique for two weeks now, and I think it was the only time I got successful. It needs a lot of concentration and ki control to be able to direct the attack towards your desired target.”The question seemed to suggest that she should try using it on the beastman. Wait, were they going to fight? Chardonnay still wasn’t comfortable with sparring matches. It wasn’t really in her character to fight, as she would always choose to avoid her opponent getting hurt. It was not that she wasn’t cut out for fighting, she just believed that there were better ways to handle conflicts. Quite an odd take about spars and friendly battles, but it reflected her ideals nonetheless. Besides, the only reason why she wanted to become stronger was to protect the people dear to her, including the village her father left upon her care. “No, Mr. Loki. I don’t intend to be a fighter. I am only striving to become stronger so I could protect my village. There is no telling when enemies would attack, and I have to prepare myself whenever that time comes.”[330/1,472] Loki

“Two weeks? Glad I happened to creep on by and catch a successful try.” He said as much with his hands resting at his hips, clasping his waist as he wistfully stared sightlessly forward. It was more than apparent that for that moment, that brief lull where the ticking of the sweep-second escaped him, his thoughts were elsewhere. In his mind, they conjured the image of someone familiar, but not.
With a ‘no’ calling his attention back to his immediate surroundings, Loki returned his eye upon Chardonnay. While she voiced an elaboration of her goal, there was no shift in the beastkin’s facial features. That was not to say there was any ire presently staining it. No, but simply an attentive face that was wanting in enthusiasm and suggestive of an inability to fully appreciate the meaning behind her words. To Loki, he heard something along the lines of not wanting to be a fighter, but wanting to fight for others - which to him, is a fighter. One who fights for a cause was defined as such, but with a moment of consideration, he did grasp her meaning.
“A protector, then. Or a defender - or just someone who wants to protect their village. Yeah, that’s cool,” he agreed, uncertain if that terms would be satisfactory, but moving his intention far from cementing her with any one term. He did not want for a battle of semantics, but rather see how he fared against such a force. He would need to, eventually. He felt it.
“Well, let’s see if I can avoid it and you see to it that I can’t. It’ll be a win-win for the both of us, huh?” With his knees bending ever-so slightly, his height lessened. He was getting ready to move, but his hands found themselves tucked within the hooded-sweater’s pockets at his sides.

Chardonnay simply nodded at the fox’s remark, it seemed he was looking for a specific answer, which the baroness still couldn’t grasp. Was the label really that important? What does it mean to be a fighter? Or protector? Could someone be called a defender if they failed to do so, no matter the effort they exerted to protect what was important to them? The baroness wondered, she still has a long way to go, and she was aware that, if compared to an airplane, she was still beginning to take flight, running its course on the tarmac until it soars high through the skies. The beastman then suggested to test the same attack on him, while he moved, thus confirming her suspicions that they were not merely training or perfecting their techniques together, rather, they were to test it in a combat setting. It couldn’t be helped then, after all, it was her idea initially. “Mmhhm,” the baroness nodded in agreement, although with slight reservation. It was an inner conflict she still had to overcome. While she was determined and focused on her goal, she can’t remain undecided every step of the way. Once the challenge sets its foot at the door, she needs to learn to grab it as soon as she can, otherwise, her cowardice wouldn’t get her anywhere. And so, she prepared her stance, one arm raised forward with an open palm, the othe,r to her side with her fist clenched, knees bent, eyes focused on her opponent, her whole being, alert. Her countenance also changed, there was just stern and tenacity written all over her face. This was a friendly duel, but she got to give it her all. At once, she moved her arms to the side again, gathering the energy in her surroundings, this time it was not careful, but swift, and as the wind collected into her hands she would throw them at Loki as a ball of energy, which was intended to freeze him as she did with the tree earlier. Then, she would follow with two more energy blasts to catch him off-guard. [358/1,830] LokiBATTLE TRACKER OFFENCE PHASE Standard Action 1: Energy Blast| 2 ki Acc: 6vEV6gk_1d100+50 Dmg: 2d6+2

And then the time came to lose themselves to the dance of the Muladhara. It was just the shift in demeanor that Loki both sought and anticipated. His own bestial visage reflected much of the same, donning what it normally defaulted to. He felt the gales around him gather, but they did so upon a whole different scale in regards to swiftness than the prior attempt he caught eye of. The fleetness of the technique’s preparation brought his eyes wider, albeit only slightly so. The pivot and beginnings of a sprint were poorly timed. The spherical maelstrom of condensed air and ki found him with ease.
It was a stinging chill, one that brought him to a halt and his arms up and drawn diagonally across one another. They hoped to forge a makeshift barricade of flesh and fur, bone and resolve. A trickling of ki raced from deep within, rinsing through his skin and pelt as both his expanded awareness and eyes caught sight of a flash of energy.
Careening towards him, he lacked the opportunity - no, the necessary dexterity to do more than brace for impact. His doing so was amidst another action. The collection of the moment’s final projection of ki threw his extended arm to the side, but was immediately brought back to his font. Blue flames licked at his arm, ostensibly swallowed by his palm. His fingers clutched something invisible until a phantasmal bow flashed into being. Fires danced about its surface, lending to its surreal and improvised design. Complete with ki-crafted string, the conjured focus and its string was drawn and from it, a sharp construct formed where Loki’s finger’s pinched. Slightly bulbous, but tapering to a point on each end. It was an arrow in purpose more than design.
“Fox-fire Arrow,” he spoke as if to solidify its potency and fully manifest it conceptually and did so after having already let the projectile fly.

While the baroness was sure her freeze attack was a clumsy attempt, somehow it managed to find its way into the beastman’s body. There was a conflict of emotions within her, whilst she was happy to direct the technique to a moving target, the idea of hurting the stranger fox was not something to be glad about. But they were in a spar. Yet, Loki was able to get away from it soon, and Chardonnay could easily see the ice naturally melting away. The following ki blasts landed a successful hit as well, but the brown fur immediately recovered from it, as if it was nothing. Now it was his time to make a counter-move. Running around the training grounds, he summoned a bow and arrow, crafted by his ki, and in one quick movement, he released the fire-based projectile towards Chardonnay. Narrowing her eyes, to gauge the right distance, she moved to her left to evade. The arrowhead would have missed her though, for one reason or another, suddenly the course slightly changed, either caused by the wind or just the arrow’s design; it would then pierce through her left arm if not for the ice shards that she formed in an instant to deflect the attack. Once the arrow connected, the make-shift shield melted through the flames. Again, she would attempt to do the same technique, hopping off to her right side first, with her hands moving in circular motion simultaneously to gather enough energy from her surroundings, and guiding it towards the opposite direction, only to serve as a distraction before making another ki blasts following the fox’s swift maneuver. The increased focus lent to him via the conjured construct made his aim truer than it usually was. The efforts he pooled into his assail bore fruit. It was fortunate. Much of his mind-born chatter was long-since shushed for the most part. Otherwise, it would have been far more difficult to watch the arrow strike her arm. Though, it found not flesh, but ice the arm engendered with impressive timing. That in itself elected a reaction, surprise and an invested interest that persisted for but a moment too long.
Drawing himself into the present with a start, he darted around an airy assault, but seemingly ran directly into the follow-up projections made towards him. It was beginning to become obvious that it was not for a lack of attention. Simply put, they moved too fast for him. Loki was not aware the energetic projections he crafted could move at such a speed. Their velocity said much about his sparring partner.
Though, there were varying kinds of projections he still wished to try out. The ghostly blue bow wrapped itself around his left arm. It did not maintain its shape, but instead formed a cylindrical net of arcane-esque glyphs around it while the excess energy evanesced into nothingness. “Canon,” he said to solidify the new concept, though not without a brash simper and some short, labored breaths here and there. Loki aimed his palm at Chardonnay and somewhat like the conceptual apparatus he aimed for, two balls of blue flame erupted from them. Afterwards, he took off running to his side in an attempt to both provide her with a moving target, as promised, and hoping his movements would make evading a little easier.

It was amusing to note that she was finally beginning to get accustomed to energy control, to the point that she was successful in distracting the fox with her ice technique as she intended. The energy blast hit Loki, although the beastman easily recuperated from the attack, and he didn’t waste any minute to retaliate back. The weapon in the form of a bow suddenly turned into some kind of ancient cryptic language the baroness wasn’t familiar with. As soon as he parted his lips to pronounce his chant, two blue flames appeared from his palm to find their way into the little girl's direction. Her first instinct was to dodge, however, she sought to attempt to parry the blow using her mystic skills. The first fire blast, Chardonnay tried to deflect, her arms raised forward as if forming a barrier of ice just in time that a vapor formed as the two elements reacted against one another. Realizing that the other was too fast for her to cast another barrier, she instead evaded, leaping at a great distance away first, and then moving to her side to chase after her opponent, stopping her tracks once she got a good aim of her target. Placing her palms together to form a wide-angled blast at the fox. Their fight was beginning to look like a dance, both quickly adapted to their opponent's swift movements, answering each strike with a certain grace. However, Chardonnay could feel the exhaustion, her chest began to tighten as she breathed heavily, gasping for air. [260/2,366] Loki BATTLE TRACKER

Harboured breathing, a nigh indescribable sting in the throat as air coase with fury passes it through - so many physical discomforts accompany those who come into contest with one another. Though, a thing of beauty those bodies become as they string one cascading stream of light after the other together. Tripping the light fantastic via carving grandiose arcs in the lands underfoot. They lunge themselves around spherical constructs of wind and eerie blue flames content with adopting one identity after the other.
Each moment’s passing drew to the beastman’s surface a boyish impishness. It was so difficult to stifle that the efforts to do so were cast to the wayside. A simper made its ostensibly permanent residency on his visage. There was no doubt Loki found enjoyment in the exercise, but hardly was he absent of any fatigue or physical anguish. So many of sound mind could easily question as to how one could bring a jovial expression, regardless of how subtle, into being beneath such conditions.
Her blast found purchase, however it was upon an apparitional wall of varying blues. Flames licked at its surface, which curled partially around Loki himself. The edges taped into nothingness and its form itself unraveled upon impact with Chardonnay’s energetic projectile. Like spots of flame speckled upon a thin sheet of plastic, the blast chewed through but a sliver of it. The remanence remained seemingly sewn to the air itself, then disappeared.
Loki’s conjuration no longer stood in his way, so he was free to point his arm at Chardonnay much like he had done prior. The strange language encompassing the appendage burned brighter.
“You’re very strong!” Loki called, but only after casting another ball of ki her way. “I think your village is already in good hands!”

Surprisingly, it was not only Chardonnay who was exhausted, the fox’s breath was equally as battered as hers. It seemed that this fight wouldn’t last that long, the baroness was still practicing her endurance when it comes to fighting, this was one good opportunity to test it as well. If she could keep up with him, she would take advantage of his fatigue whether on offense or defense, she could probably win. Wait a second, when did she ever think of winning? She was only concerned about hitting him, right? It was the whole point of this friend duel. Her attack supposedly hit Loki if not for the huge wall he used to block her spiritual blast. Chardonnay watched as the massive ball of energy curved up as the apparitional defense protected its caster from it. A few seconds later, the barrier dissipated along with her shot, and she was surprised by the sudden burst of energy from her opponent. Again, she summoned an ice wall, but the impact of the projectile was strong, it got past her ice shield. The baroness then quickly moved to her side but she got caught by the outburst, which tore a bit of her sleeve. While the pain remained hidden from the looks of her determined face as she answered back with two icy shots going from opposite directions in an attempt to sandwich the fox with her attack. The compliment almost got past from one ear to the other as she kept herself focused, but her mind eventually recalled the praise and blushed at the fox's remark. "Thank you, Mr. Loki. You are strong too, and fast! This is really good training for me."[284/2650] Loki BATTLE TRACKER
