Success.
No, of course not success in battle, Valentus was faltering on that front. No, instead, he could tell that UN-11's responses were starting to falter. Challenged on what awaits her, whether her service will truly be remembered, the android broke her cold, mechanical exterior for just a second, her voice cracked while trying to find a reply before she returned to her true and trusted method of denial. It wasn't much, but it showed that she actually listened to his words. Valentus could not know if she will ever reflect on what she heard, either, or if she will merely drop that thought and erase her the same way a machine like she claims to be would merely erase unwanted files.
But he sowed something, and that, in of itself, was worth a thousand successful sword slashes.
UN-11's counterattack was devastating. A combination of the detonators on the ground which she had used before and her usual unstoppable barrage of every gun she had at her disposal at once, it sandwitched Valentus between two sides and tore through him from either side. The shrapnel pierced him, the laser rounds easily bypassed his sword defenses, and the revolver punched straight into where his heart would be, thankfully stopped by the armor and tissue before leaving a hole in that organ. And yet, in spite of it all, the Tuffle did not fall to the ground. He grunted from the pain, struggled, tried his best to deflect the few shots he could, but mostly just endured the barrage.
Until finally, the shots ceased, and he fell to one knee, using his sword as support to keep himself up and gasping for air. UN-11's final judgment was practical. Even if he won, he would be too injured to survive in the snow - even if he fled right now, the weather might just be too harsh for him to survive. She even went as far as to ask whether he had any escape plan.
He did... but that plan did not account for meeting a gunslinger android stopping one of the few ways of escape. He had more reason than just compassion to not want to fight her.
Over his shoulder, Valentus glanced behind him. The two Saiyan test subjects, a boy and a girl, too frightened by the intense battle happening forward, were practically frozen in one of the server rooms, peeking out from the entrance and watching the battle while trying to be as inconspicuous as possible.
"What-what do we do...?" one of the Saiyans whispered, convinced that this was the hero's end - only for him to yell:
"Run! We don't have much time! I-I trust you can find a way out!" There must have been alternate exits, or a way to get around the android through peripheral corridors, maybe even vents to crawl through... The two Saiyans, though frightened at first, nodded and began backing away, before slipping through one of the peripheral corridors. Without a guide, they will probably get lost and take quite a bit of time to find a way out - but that only mattered if there was someone to go after them. And he has just enough strength left in him to ensure that the android doesn't get the chance.
What were her last words, again? Will bleeding out here change the world? Valentus slowly rose back to his feet, weakly holding up his sword.
"It will now."
