While Nori seemed keen on trying to butter up the cat with compliments, Lilith remained utterly unimpressed. The shaking ground and the forming winds only received a flat stare. “All I see is wasted potential.” Disappointment filled her icy tone. With proper training, the sage could have been a remarkable sorcerer in his own right. Yet, all this energy was employed... in the service... of punching. Disgraceful. In spite of the howling energies, the Wicked Witch calmly adjusted her magical flow to keep the circle steady. After having faced some genuine monsters, this level of power seemed... mundane. “Do try to maintain your focus, dear colleague. I am not here to do your work for you.” She would do her best to keep the spell steady. Nothing more, nothing less. If this failed, it would be the Sea Witch’s fault. Fortunately for everyone involved, the spell succeeded. Lilith retracted her coursing magic and relaxed her posture. She watched with mild curiosity as the energies manifested into a draconic figure. “A talking shadow creature. How quaint.” She did her part in correcting the mistake by pointing at the short, furry creature. “And are you as disappointed as I am?” A rhetorical question. Leaving the cat and the dragon to... sort out their differences... the noblewoman dismissed her magical tome again. With a sharp click of fingers, she called out. “Chester, come. We are leaving.” Her loyal familiar reluctantly clattered back to her side. It had still wanted to play for a little longer... Lilith met Nori’s question with a frigid glare. “I have no need to buy things, least of all from you.” She allowed herself a small smile, a chilling little expression that played on her lips. “If you had anything at all I desired, I would have taken it already.” Paying for goods was for peasants. A noble was entitled to whatever they wished by birthright. People all too eagerly forgot that she was called a Wicked Witch for a reason. The Sea Witch glared right back. “You wouldn’t survive the attempt.” She folded her arms and stood her ground fearlessly. Such brazen insults could not go unanswered. The air was starting to crackle with magical static again... Words: 370 | 3735 Natural PL at start: 12,251 Tag: Will O. Wisp

Will ignored the snide comments Lilith gave towards him. Especially the one of her being disappointed in him. Though it seems instead of actually participating in the economy her method is more so if she likes something, she takes it. And that of course does not make Nori happy at all. As it seems like they are on the verge to have a magical duel. Well, guess it's time to intervene. "Now now Lady Nevermore, it would be rude to steal from someone who invited you here, and manners are something a noblewoman such as yourself must uphold. All of the greatest nobles know how to be more courteous and polite than those under them, surely you shouldn't lower yourself to the standards of those beneath you?" Will said. Hopefully, his honeyed words were able to convince Lilith any. But whether if they did or not it seems something is happening to Wakame. As the moonlight beams through the window on the otter, as they shaking and rolling on the floor. After getting up its hind legs in a poof it becomes a more anthropomorphic looking otter with a straw hat and tattered clothes.
"Oh wow, night time already huh? Good to be back in this form again." Wakame said. Will then recognized the otter as the one he met at that Youkai party during that Halloween night. Before he just looked like a normal otter and now he looked like a Beastman. Wakame then walks up to the chest to pat them on the top of what seems to be their head. "It was good playing with you by the way Chester, I needed the exercise." Wakame said with a squeaky laugh. "You haven't transformed into your true Youkai form till now? Are you only able to do so at night?" Will asked. "I can explain actually, you see I found Wakame washed up ashore on my beach one night and found him in a half-dead state. Ran into some trouble with some nasty individuals, but to fully heal him it had to come with a price. Now he is only able to become his true form only at night." Nori elaborated. "And ever since then I became her faithful familiar and would go to the mainland now and then to gather supplies for the shop as well groceries while Nori is asleep." Wakame said. Will then stroked his chin for a bit. "So since I am a Bakeneko like you all say I have the ability to shapeshift too right?" Will asked. "Shapeshifting, ability to talk with and command the dead, you name it Mr. Wisp! If you want to know more about shapeshifting if you ever have the free time I could teach you, I may not be able to switch between my animal and true form whenever I like but I have plenty of other forms as well." Wakame explained. Shapeshifting indeed could be useful though the fact that he can control the dead, like those spirits he saw earlier. He has no idea why he would ever do such a thing unless. "There are many spirits said to too filled with rage and vengeance to pass on, perhaps there is a way I could help them do so by having their anger taken out on those who deserve it if I perfect this ability of mine." Will thought. "Thank you for that offer and wonderful information Wakame, I got a good idea of what I am going to be doing before the World Martial Arts Tournament," Will said. "I wish you good luck on that, we may not be able to catch it live but we'll be sure to catch the recordings and see how you do." Wakame said. "Indeed we will be watching you very closely, now I suppose it is time for me to retire to bed. Besides I am sure Ms. Nevermore needs her beauty sleep most of all if she ever plans to get rid of those bags under her eyes. Almost as if she has huffed too much of her own potion fumes. Oh ho ho ho ho ho," Nori said. And while Nori turns away to go to her room she casts a magical shield behind her to block any attempt Lilith would have before shutting and sealing the door behind her. "Sorry about her Mi-er Lady Nevermore, she jokes around but she actually does like you. After all, she and your mother were close before well the incident, she took it hard as well and was glad to learn you were still alive. Oh, and she did want to give you this but well, I guess she was too proud to," Wakame explained. And Wakame walks off and comes back with appears to be a painting depicting Lilith's mother and father holding a baby version of her along with Nori. Then brings it over to Lilith to hand it over to her. Will of course is in the dark about what they are talking about but waits and sees how she will react. Lilith broke the frigid staring contest first. Will’s words reached her ears with perfect clarity. She shot an icy glare back, accompanied by venomous words. “Do not presume to lecture me on manners, peasant.” She swept an accusing point over everyone present. ...Chester not included. “You... all of you... are not worth the air you waste. Never forget that.” A true noble, such as herself, was better than others by default and acted accordingly. When the otter familiar suddenly transformed, the young lady scoffed. “Hmph, you cannot even control your form and yet you have the audacity to call yourself a familiar. Pathetic.” She gave her own familiar a smug look. “Chester here can shift between forms at will. Yet he follows my every command. He is a true familiar.” And cute too. But she would never admit that last part out loud. The Wicked Witch was about to make her leave, when the Sea Witch simply had to twist the knife. Words held terrible power, especially ones that stabbed deep. Lilith stopped dead on her tracks. Her eyes lit up with a baleful glow. There was a chill in the air... White frost started creeping across her robes. “I did not inherit the name and the power of my clan to be called Miss.” She wasn’t angry... Just a little bit ABSOLUTELY LIVID. Lilith turned to the closed shop and brandished her wand. Sinking the whole island to the bottom of the sea sounded oh so tempting... But also very taxing. She needed a better way to get her message across. “I call forth the wrath of winter...” As she voiced the incantation, the temperature dropped drastically. Frost spread in a snowflake pattern at her feet... “Avalanche.”Swirling magic opened a portal above Nori’s shop. With an unceremonious rumble, a whole winter’s worth of snow fell at once. The shop looked more like an igloo than a seaside shack. Even with the shield stopping any actual damage, it would take a long and cold moment to dig the entrance open. Petty? Perhaps. Satisfying. Oh yes. With a pleased hum, the Wicked Witch hung her wand on her belt again. She barely spared a passing glance to the otterman trying to explain his owner’s shortcomings. The shallow excuses fell to deaf ears. Some insults could not be forgiven. Nori should have known better. In fact, she was sure it was all intentional... When the otter offered the painting, Lilith paused briefly. Her cold glare softened briefly... Before icing over yet again. The painting... the painful reminder... was left untouched in the hands of the familiar. “Chester, come. We are leaving.” She called her broom to her side. “Tell your foolish Mistress that I am not my mother... And that the feeling is no longer mutual.” With that, she rose to the skies and soon vanished into the horizon, leaving snow dancing in her wake. As Will saw what Lilith was about to do he immediately booked it out the door and on his Flying Nimbus. Watching the large amount of snow piled on top of the sea shack. And watching her leave in a huff. Wakame looked saddened to see that she left without the painting, and turned to see the large amount of snow he had to clean up. Nori just sat by her window smoked from her smoke pipe and blew as she watched Lilith leave looking sad. "Maybe I was too harsh with those last teases, but you did threaten to steal from my shop so I guess I was a bit pissed off. If your mother was still alive she would've taught you how to respect your fellow witches of the craft, and I would've helped teach you to reach new heights of magic. Me and her used to be rivals in the same magic school, though we soon became friends after finding out we had some stuff in common, we used to throw insults casually at each other each time we met up again and I guess I keep forgetting you are not like her even though there is so much of her in you. And yet was I there for her when she needed my help the most? Defending her castle, no, I was here stuck to this one island cause I afraid of getting wrinkles." Nori mused. She then took out a bottle of sake and begin to down it quickly in one gulp. "If I had been there that murder hobo that stormed the castle would have never even made it past the front gate. Perhaps a silly thing to beat myself up over, but when everyone you know dies while you become basically immortal I suppose it'd make sense that one would get survivor's guilt. It's also why I didn't say this to you in person but instead I pushed you away," Nori said. She tries to take another sip from her sake bottle only to notice it's empty and just throws it across the room as it shatters upon the ground before being picked up by a sentient broom and dustpan. "I may be rooted to one spot, but at the very least I have my own ways to still talk to you," Nori said. She then waves her right pointer finger across the sky as if writing something with it. Above Lilith birds would begin to fly in odd formations, the clouds will start to converge to form letters, and strange lines of light seem to appear connecting some of the stars. Each strange occurrence appear to form a message. "I'm sorry Lady Lilith Nevermore." made out of clouds, "I didn't mean what I said" made of a flock of birds, and the star scribed message saying "Please forgive me." with a constellation that looks like Nori crying while kneeling on the ground pleading for forgiveness. The constellation pleading Nori animated like a neon sign bowing her head up and down. The night sky itself becoming one big apology letter just for her. Will watches this, and while he wants to go to Lilith himself and talk to her about it. He decides it's best to leave her alone for the time being. Perhaps he should find out more about what happened to the Nevermore's. To help her gain closure from the grief she is hiding. Otherwise she may like this till the day she dies which may come quicker than expect if she keeps going down this dark path pathed with blood. Word Count: 600 Total Word Count: 6,380
