The reception of the Western Lands’ Bassic Security Bureau didn’t quite have the elegance or history of any of Maxine’s usual yakuza haunts, but it was far from offensive to her either. The manners of corporations outside of her homelands’ culture weren’t often to her tastes, but she could appreciate professionalism of any stripe. The apartment building as a whole might need work, but the clean and straightforward interior was more than enough for her to be satisfied. Though, these brochures for their other services were kind of… d-did he name everything after himself?
”Number 24, please go to counter 1.”
The automated voice awoke Maxine from her reading – though, she was surprised it took this long in the first place. It didn’t look like it was too busy right now… maybe that was just the holiday season, or maybe security wasn’t as popular as the company’s owners had hoped. All the same, it ought to make it easy for her. It was just a delivery job, after all.
At the counter in question was the lone receptionist, who looked like he’d had a long night. ”Right, meeting with Mister Bass? His schedule is absolutely booked out right now, but I can at least take a -“ began the little demon, before noticing the blue polka-dot present Maxine was holding. ”Ah, okay. We’ve been expecting you. You don’t mind signing off on being involved in a few photos for PR, do you? A-Anyway, I’ll call him down in just a second…”
Maxine would wait patiently, of course, with the sizable package in hand – she’d gotten a bit more festive with her second try, but… she was feeling a bit self-conscious now. The ribbon was a bit off-centre, a-and the blue dots and blue ribbon… was it a bit much, maybe? L-Like, maybe she should have kept it simple, rather than trying to match the CEO’s style. B-But what was his style? Blue was maybe a bit… skin-deep, literally…

Well. At least she could say she tried. Her suit was even complemented with a pathetic little red Santa hat on top.
