The white wind howled... A dark silhouette loomed at the door of a certain, mighty treehouse. The silhouette belonged to a young witch. However, her dark robes had been replaced with a red set that was decorated with white, fluffy trims. Even her usual wide-brimmed witch hat had twisted to resemble a red bobble hat instead. On her shoulder sat a raven who also wore a tiny Santa hat. In her hands she clutched a small gift, impeccably wrapped and decorated. Touched by magic, the painted snowflakes drifted gently against a snowy landscape. The heir of the clan Nevermore would not settle for anything less than perfection.
Lilith had practiced this more times she cared to admit. She had honed each word, each gesture, each expression even before a mirror. Yet, she still hesitated. Some cold, cynical part of her wanted to call this pointless. Humbug, if you will. But there was this strange, warm feeling that would not let her back down... Taking a deep breath, she nodded to her little helper, who in turn knocked on the door with his beak. Her heartbeat grew louder with each passing second.
Once the door opened, the witch forced something vaguely resembling a smile onto her pale features. “Greetings, Ty.” However, the unnatural expression quickly faded. “Look, I understand that I have not been the ideal friend. This is all rather new to me... Mingling with mortals, I mean...” She was already slipping from the script, but the words kept coming nonetheless. “Yet, despite everything, you have shown me unwavering kindness and warmth.” She lifted the present in her hands and offered it to her... friend. “I could not let it go unrewarded... S-so... Merry Christmas...” Still, the embarrassment burned brightly on her cheeks. She pushed the present closer insistently.
“J-just take it already!”
