Near Jingle Village exists a nice cozy cafe known as the Bobtail's Bell Inn. A quaint place filled with feline Beastmen that cook delicious warm meals made with love. Along with many warm drinks to give people the energy to be able to get through the day in the cold north. Also makes a good rest stop for weary travelers going through the North and going to Jingle Village. Ran by a old lady cat with the tenderness and care of a grandmother.
As Will O. Wisp is flying through the snowflake filled skies he stops by this Inn. Though his reason for being here is not just cause he wanted to stay the night here. He's here because someone he hasn't met in a long time works here. As he parks his Flying Nimbus near the door he walks in as the doorbell bell chimes. When he walks inside he can certainly see why so many people come here. A very old fashioned feel as there is a love wooden tables and seating. A warm fireplace and oven the large stone oven provides a warmness around the room.
All of the cat Beastmen that work here are wearing headscarves wrapped around them and plent of clothes to keep warm. Unlike Will none of them seem to have tails but theirs are just so small and short it's hard to notice. That's probably why it's called Bobtail's Bell Inn, clever. As Will is approached by the large round female cat with glasses and resembles Will somewhat. She smiled as she looked down at Will and gently patted his head.
"It's very good to see you again my child," they would say.
"Good to see you again mo-oof" Will said before being pulled in a large bear hug by his mother.
Even after retiring to a nice quiet life in the north she still has a lot of strength from her years as a Martial Artist. Enough so that one could hear Will's bones crack a bit thought it somehow still felt comforting. She put Will down as they sat onto a table to talk.
"I heard about how you've been busy lately, you're making quite your name for yourself after you returned. I was so worried about you after hearing the rumors of your death but I just knew you were alive. Mama didn't raise you to be no quitter," Mama Wisp said.
Will would blush at his words as people from around the inn would be watching.
"Not in public I am 102 years old, I am just here to spend the Holidays with you. It is been so long since we seen each other and I can see you haven't changed a bit since we last met," Will said.
"Well all of that martial arts training did a lot of help in the long run in terms of living long and healthy but I digress. Look at you though, you look so thin it looks like you barely ate anything. Come on I'll treat you to a free dinner you'll love it," Mama Wisp pleaded.
Will never did have his mother's cooking, since they lived together at Korin's Tower for a while she didn't have to cook cause Senzu Bean's were able to fill you up for several days. As this inn she made was fairly recent after she traveled the world learning various things besides Martial Arts. He couldn't say no to that face of hers either. He watched as she started cooking, a big slab of beef she pounded down with her paws and covered in spices and sauce. As her helpers padded down the dough to make the bread. After a while a delectable spread was put before of him with a roast beef as the main course and a wooden mug of hot cocoa to go with it.
One bite of the of juicy roast beef Will understood why she choose to make this Inn. As the taste buds of his rough cat tongue was met with new flavors he never experienced before. This isn't just something made by a culinary master. The love and care put into this meal could be felt within this meal. As Will helped himself to the rest of the meal. The soup, the bread, the mashed potatoes, all of it was so delicious he wondered what he has been eating beforehand. As the plates have been emptied he slumped back as he let his stomach rested.
"It's so delightful to see that you enjoyed it, when I reached my limits I went to find something else I could until I learned I had a knack for cooking. Once I perfected my recipes I made this place as a haven for weary travelers. It's not easy being a day to day job and all but it's so bad. After all Bobtail's Bell has a nice ring to it, nya ho ho ho ho ho ho," she bellowed.
Ah yes there it was, his mother's punmanship. While his father was one to crack jokes his mother was quite the wordsmith. While most other people didn't appreciate, as some of the patrons groaned at the pun, Will was there to laugh along with her. After the laughter settled Will got up from his chair.
"In any case I have dabbled in cooking myself, I can help you out here for a while if you want," Will suggested.
"Oh no you're here to spend time with me for the Holidays you shouldn't be working for me," Mama Wisp said.
"After being given such a great meal for free. I'll be glad to give you some extra help," Will said.
And after that Will spent the rest of his Holidays at the Bobtail's Bell Inn, wrapped in the inn's signature headscarf and uniform, he helped his mother out cooking for all the travelers who are spending their holidays here. And Will wouldn't have it any other way. After all this time of year isn't about the food or the presents. It's about spending time with those close to you.
