Oolong city was a desperate place, full of thieves, scum, predators and all manner of monsters. It was a terrible place to anyone with a moral compass, the desperate souls who lurked within the cities borders, homeless and without others to care for them. Those poor souls found themselves being preyed upon by the wicked who sought their own pleasures of tormenting those who could not defend themselves. The cruelty that lurked in the hearts of man, demon and any with the ability to be sentient... it was so blatant in this city it made Shibito chuckle coldly to himself.
He stood silently in an alleyway, his body tucked away in the shadows. The sounds of pain echoing through the alleyway but it wasn't Shibito who caused them. No, it was another who was currently finding themselves on the brutal end of another's amusement. A poor old man lay curled up in a ball, three teenagers of different species kicking him while laughing. A scene frequently displayed in this cold city, the trio unaware of the demon's presence. He remained silent as he listened, yet he was not calm about the situation...
The trio mocked the elderly man, proclaiming that he was worthless, a smudge on society and openly taunting his frailty. Shibito was not a hero, nor did he seek to aid the old man. Perhaps it was a mental torture for himself? Perhaps he was unable to help the old man because it directly contradicted his deal with the demon within? His own inner conflict just as distracted as the old man being kicked and tormented. It wasn't till an "officer" or rather a sort of authority figure came along. While not law enforcement, which would be ridiculous in such a place, the individual was clearly a peace keeper. Scolding the boy's for making such a ruckus and disturbing the people in their homes. It was less of them beating the old man but rather them making to much noise.
After being ushered from the alleyway, Shibito watched silently as the old man picked himself up once more. His frail hands clutching some sort of locket, his silent weeping gently echoing through the narrow passage. The demon kept watching silently for a short time but after a few minutes disappeared fully into the shadows.
-----
Somewhere else in the city, on a street corner at night, a woman stood silently as a man in a purple coat leaned against the wall next to her. Her bruised face staring down at the ground, her arms clutched about her arms. It was clear what was happening, the occasional driver going by to discuss a deal only to be shooed away by the man. Shibito was lurking nearby, his sightless eyes watching from the shadows. The woman was clearly unhappy to be there, yet held no courage to get away from the man in question.
Shibito said nothing as a new car drove up, parking nearby, a disgusting pig man with a nasty dress code. His car in question was dirty on the inside and out, the sight of him disgusted Shibito physically in more ways than one. Yet the poor woman was soon yanked by the arm by the man in purple, her face held up like live stock for the pig man to look at. After a few exchanges of words, the pig man nodded in agreement. The woman suddenly got a look of fear, her body trembling in the purple man's grip. It was when she was stirred toward the car that she found the courage to take a step back. Yelling followed suit, the woman being struck and falling to her knees.
In that moment, the demon within would speak in Shibito's mind.
"Your kind... They truly are just as evil as demons."
The hitting began, the sound of knuckle to flesh filled the air.
"Indeed... We as beings of sentience are all corrupted... Unforgivable in all regards."
"Even you?"
"Even you..."
The answer was not what Sensoa had asked, but it answered his question nonetheless. Their sightless eyes watching the terrible sight before them.
"I wish to kill all things living... Yet I can sense we wish to kill the man in purple the most."
"Indeed, but by what right do we have to step in?"
"Self pleasure?"
Shibito said nothing at this as Sensoa snickered in his mind. The two feeling the mutual desire to kill. This world was beyond redemption, the corrupted greed of the collected living was beyond saving... But the question remained of what gave Shibito the right to kill them all? He was not some grand savior nor destined for greatness. He was just as hypocritical as the rest of them, perhaps more so. He was still human at heart, his moral compass having been taken from him long ago. Yet in tragedy did he give it up, not from the choice of his own desires.
"In the end, the human heart is ever as disgusting as before. You wish to save her because it isn't fair... But perhaps it is? What if she owes a debt? Does she get to be free from a debt because we think it isn't fair? Hehehe... perhaps your mind has corrupted me as well..."
It was when she was about to be put into the car when Shibito stepped from the shadows. His foot falls loud enough to be heard by the man in purple and the pig man. The duo of men looking up at him while the girl watched through the glass window of the back seat. The man in purple giving a small sign to the pig man as he shut the door before the car began to drive off. Yet it didn't get far, Shibito was quicker than the car starting up its forward momentum. In that brief moment, he was beside the car, his arm grabbing the pig man by the head and throwing him forwarded. The pig man went through the window to come crumbling across the ground, yet the car did not stop... even as it ran him over.
Shibito said nothing as his faceless head turned to the man in purple in question. The purple man got to pull out his gun and fired one shot before he found a hand through his gut. The man falling to the ground and curling his body in agony. A scream from the car as the woman came running toward the man, kneeling beside him and attempting to stop the bleeding. His lover, but also his puppet. Shibito watched in silence as the woman watched her beloved die in her arms, screaming in terror and anger at the facelss killer. She took the gun to point it at the demon, yet she soon found herself without a head.
Shibito's hand quickly removing it from her shoulders before he stood silently in the streets. Crimson contrast to his white skin.
"Mortal kind... so full of flaws... We doubly so."
Sensoa stated in his mind, their mind. The two staring at the bodies a moment longer before heading back into the alley way they had come from. People coming from their homes to see only a white tail slipping into the darkness, a crimson trail following it.
"So tell me Shibito. Why must you kill your own kind? Do you despise your life so much you wish for extinction? Was the lose of the lover? Was it the disownment? Tell me... let me hear it Shibito."
Sensoa whispered in his mind, yet Shibito did not answer right away. Through the darkness they walked, the two made one moving through the shadows of the night till they found a small park. Long abandoned, it was a haven for trash, graffiti and ruined benches. It was clear it was not looked after, and rarely visited beyond the homeless who lived there. Yet tonight it was empty, for whatever reason it would seem he had it to himself this night. Yet the demon would not let the question go unanswered, restating it to him as Shibito came to stop by a fountain.
"It was the very fact I was born."
"Eh?"
A surprised Sensoa asked, though they were discussing this within, Shibito sensed the surprise from the other.
"I was born... From the moment I could understand this world, I hated it. I hated the way people thought of one another, the concepts we believe in, the free will to choose to hurt each other and the desires we feel. To be alive, we are given personality, and that personality gives way to conflict. If we were as faceless as me...."
Shibito would gently touch his face, the smooth surface indicated by his touch.
"We would be free of such things. Why fight if we all were the same? But why must I explain what you already know? What we know..."
"Because even should I know, to comprehend is different. I seek to kill because I love it... but you seek it for different reasons. You are complicated, yet simple... I am simple but now complicated. I desired death, but now I seek reason. We have become something more than we were..."
"And yet, nothing has changed..."
Silenced filled the void then, Shibito's eyeless face turning to see a young boy standing there. His blue eyes watching Shibito curiously, yet there was the unmistakable fear. The two said nothing as they stared at one another, unmoving for a long time. It wasn't until the boy stepped forward, slowly moving toward Shibito with uncertainty in his steps. Yet only when he was at the demon's side did he stop looking at the faceless demon and turned his gaze to his leg. There he tugged at the cloth of his pants before returning his gaze to the demon once more.
"You... you wear pants..."
Shibito was so stunned by this that he shook his head in disbelief, ultimately snarling in response.
"Naturally boy, what sort of weirdo's have you hung out with to think I wouldn't be clothed?"
With that the boy simply shook his head in response, looking at the demon's tail then back to his body in general taking it in.
"No one, but you look weird mister... Are you weird?"
Shibito groaned and his shoulder's eyes rolled in sarcastic disbelief of such a kid. He then put his hand out, palm facing the boy before energy began to collect in his palm. Fed up with such nonsense, he held the energy blast threateningly close to the child as a death threat. Yet the boy did nothing, he simply stared at the blast for a few seconds. But while Shibito expected fear, the boy instead simply closed his eyes and remained stationary. The boy said nothing, clearly accepting his fate... Was he smiling? Shibito couldn't tell from this angle however, after a few moments of them standing there Shibito would groan before withdrawing his attack. The boy only opening his eyes when the demon began to take his steps away.
Yet as he began to walk away, he heard footsteps behind him. The demon turning to see the boy following him in hot pursuit, the two looking at one another for a moment before finally Shibito spoke up.
"Begone child, I am not welcoming the company of a brat."
"Ok."
Was all the boy said, the two still standing silently before finally Shibito turned to walk away again. Yet after a few steps, he heard the young boy once again following.
"Didn't you hear me boy, I said begone."
"I did..."
"That means do not follow me."
"I know."
Despite his back being turned, Shibito could clearly see the child staring up at him with the eyes in the back of his shoulders. the pair of eyes narrowing as the boy simply stared at his back. Shibito took a step, the boy took two once more.
"Child you test my patience... I will not hesitate to kill you next time. Do you not understand what I said?"
"I did... You said you aren't welcoming a brat along with you."
"Then why are you following me?"
"Cuz I am not a brat..."
After a brief moment of stunned silence, Shibito turned to the boy in question. Sensoa could be heard snickering in Shibito's mind then.
"I like him."
"Shut up Sensoa."
"Do you have an imaginary friend mister?"
"No boy, I don't."
"Then you are crazy right? The old man down the street talks to himself, people call him crazy."
"I'm not... I'm not crazy boy."
"ok..."
With that Silence fell on them both once more. The two staring each other down for a minute, perhaps longer. The boy simply stared at Shibito's faceless front, his blue eyes searching for something to look at. After an intense staring contast, Shibito growled before throwing his hands up in frustration.
"Why do you follow me boy?"
With that, the boy looked up as if contemplating his answer before then looking at Shibito. His expression innocent and without sarcasm nor malice.
"You looked lonely... I'm lonely too."
"I'm not lonely..."
"You talked to yourself... and you were staring at the fountain all alone like you wanted to make a wish."
"I wasn't... and I don't talk to myself."
With that, silence fell on the two once more. Yet this time, Shibito turned before jumping over the nearby fence. His feet landing on the sidewalk across the street, the boy putting his hands on the fence as he stared at Shibito with disappointment in his eyes... Shibito also could have swore he saw tears, but thought no more of it as he turned to enter the dark alley. Disappearing from the boy's sight...
