"Come on!"
Is what Bass shouted as he watched a spinning wheel of various items and LED lights flash before him. He was at one of Pilaf lands many Gacha game locations, frantically shoving zeni bills into the machine to get one specific thing. In one of the orbs was a bundled up spool of wheat that almost had an otherworldly perfect glow to it. The infamous wheat of might, a peace of the puzzle he was so desperately searching for in order to conjure up the best meal- the meal rumoured to be able to take warriors to the next level. Most serious martial artists would scoff at that and think it a hoax, but Bass was a salaryman that needed to find shortcuts when they presented themselves. Jamming the slots button over and over, he'd eventually hear a call from the side.
"Hey buddy, you're going pretty crazy on that machine. You trying to get something in particular?" A modestly dressed citizen wearing a dress shirt with a briefcase in his hand walked over and followed Bass's gaze towards the wheat of might.
"Oh, that. Are you-..." The guy took in some of Bass's more obvious features, his build and his height.
"Ah, you must be a martial artist. I'm humbled haha, look, I imagine you'd be better off with this scoop I got. I work for Pilaf Corp actually, apparently there's some of the stuff in Oolong City that isn't an... Oooh... One in four thousand chance. Probably worth your time."
Bass blinked, snapping his attention away from the wheat as he was told of a more surefire way to get it.
"Woah. Hey, thanks man. I appreciate that, look, because you just saved me more tickets here y'go." Bass shoved fourty thousand zeni into the mans frantic hands so the zeni didn't fall everywhere.
By the time the man looked up Bass had an index and middle finger to his head. Then with a rising sound he blinked out of vision.
And reappeared with a similar blinking sound in the midst of Oolong City.
"Talk about a change of scenery..." He looked over the significantly more... Shady environment, and that was saying a lot when comparing it to Pilaf Land.
Looking over towards a passerby he asked. "Do you know where I could go to buy uh... Wheat...?"
He got what turned out to be a thug jutting his head around to regard Bass, "Eh?! You think I care punk?! Whatever man, weird question by the way. There's a grocery store around the corner but I don't think they sell straight up wheat..." Walking off with his hands in his pocket, the thug just shook his head having talked to yet another strange person in Oolong City.
Following the tip, he found no leads. Yet, outside of the Grocery store he'd see a job board and listed upon it was a very particular request.
The reward? The ominous item that he'd been searching for. He energetically tore the sheet off of the board.
"Mine!" He had merely skimmed it, but he'd figure out the details soon enough.

As heiress to the Tea clan, Grand Duke's Own University, was a campus that was financed and built by her family and the White Cat Clan. It was her duty as a board member to the University to be at the meetings regarding the instructors and employees who were hired in some scheme by an award winning scientist. It was harmless at first, each person was commissioned to make a specific part, but when they all realized each part put together was beginning to sound dangerous an emergency meeting was called. “I understand you all did it in the great interest of science.” Juniper began as she sat at the head of the meeting table, “However, I do not understand why zeni needed to be involved, if you require a raise, please go through standard procedures of acquiring one. Money is not an issue at this campus, anyone who can improve the University’s image for the greater good, will be rewarded. If anyone else takes on another contract from a client that is sanctioned at this University, your employment will be terminated, crime is already a major issue in Oolong City and I am against anyone currently employed taking under the table jobs to supplement their income. As Academics you need to take pride in your role of creating a path for the future of our enrolled students so that we create the pioneers who will improve our city. Now, please continue explaining to me what you suspect was being created?”
The instructors began arguing with each other, even the janitor was involved in this lucrative scheme of modified wheat, and after deliberation they all explained their roles to the heiress. The Janitor explained that the scientist in question paid him to give him discarded plant samples from the agricultural greenhouse, he assumed it was going to be used for compost reasons, but he later realized it was wrong since zeni was being paid so he was the first to confess his misdeeds. When the incident was reported, another instructor from the energy conservation department came forward that she was also hired by this mysterious scientist to create a special UV light. Security collected all the footage of this scientist going to different parts of the campus to have something special made. A senior student was paid to steal a sapling of might from one of the classrooms in exchange for zeni and by this point Juniper snapped the pen she was holding while taking notes. It was unlike her to show any emotion, the slew of problems was piling up, and it was overbearing to a degree. “I understand now, some sort of scientific experiment on plants is involved, after different people on campus were hired to commit discrepancies in exchange for zeni. No one is going to be punished, I am glad you all did the right thing to come forward with your findings, and I will be the one to finish this investigation. You may all leave now, thank you for your time.”The Dandelion Princess was the first one to leave, after several hours investigating the whereabouts of the culprit, she learned that someone had been placing encrypted flyers surrounding the campus, it involved some kind of genetically modified wheat of might derived from the sapling of might. As she walked around the cobblestone streets, she noticed a blue namekian holding the same flyer she found, he had a significant power level so it was difficult to ignore. While the cold war with namekians was still ongoing, they would never travel alone, so it was assumed that Bass was unaffiliated with the horde. After some thought, she recollected where he had seen this blue namekian before, and she snapped her fingers. “Greetings,” Juniper bowed her head demurely, “ I remember you from the winter festivities sponsored by Tundra Village here in Oolong City, you won first place in the ice carving contest with Duchess Melody. A belated congratulations is in order. I believe your name was announced by Countess Iris-san as Bass, it is easy to remember when your team mate also has a music based name and is famously part of the Pig Demon Duchies.” After a beat she continued, “My name is Juniper Dandelion Tea. I won second place in the contest with Kiryu Miyazawa but the lighting of the ice globe you made was brilliant. I notice you are holding the same flyer as me, the wheat of might, I am afraid the scientist behind the creation of this involved several of my employees at Grand Duke's Own University. Do you know anything about him by chance?”[773] [1,294/2,000] Bass

Skimming over the flyer several times over, the Namekian's attention would be pulled away as a woman called over towards him. Turning his head to check who it might be- especially in the hostile environment, he'd let the flyer lower in his one hand and listen. He merely raised a hand in greeting before that.
What he was being told was a lot of reputation and old names he hadn't heard of in a while. Though when he thought about it, if they were still around he doubted they'd have heard his name that recently either. It's said that you don't recognize the value of something until it's gone, Bass certainly learned that lesson the hard way.
Leaving his thoughts for a moment to respond, he spoke up and raised the flyer once more. Squinting, he'd speak.
"Honestly, you probably know more than me. Though before we get into that, it's nice to meet you Juniper. This is my first time properly in Oolong City- I don't really count the competition, it was an in and out kind of deal. Anyways uuuuh...
Yeah, wheat of might. Is this the first time you've heard of it? If you got a guy trying to make this stuff, they're not much of an inventor. Actually, I was just gambling for some of it over in Pilaf Land. Was told that some of the stuff came from here, I admit I was lucky to stumble across a lead so quick."
He took a second to reflect on what he'd said. It wasn't something original, but a scientist in Oolong City was attempting to recreate it- and apparently it wasn't a legal thing to create in the first place. Raising a hand to his brow, the Namekian wracked his brain trying to come up with a convenient and easy answer.
"Well, based off of what I know and you know, whoever this scientist is isn't doing this to win any awards in the sciences. Either they or someone they're in contact with wants to get stronger, hence the name- and the only reason anyone would ever want to try and ingest raw wheat. Or they're a supplier for Pilaf Land, in which case this isn't their first rodeo. Just the first that you've noticed, perhaps?" Bass asked, looking up from his gaze that rested on the ground as he tried to draw some conclusions.
"I wasn't even under the impression this stuff was illegal here. I guess the laws and rules must be pretty different huh? Duchesses, Heirs, lots of fancy names and a whole lot of crime...- You're actually the second person to reference Melody lately. Hopefully she's doing well, sounds like it."
Pulling up the reference flyer a final time, he let out a sigh.
"I have one possible conclusion that I think a scientist would go too. If he's smart enough to make it, he can't just be using it to bulk something up for his own means. He's probably trying to make zeni, selling it to Pilaf Land and other gambling markets outside of the area. Must make a killing, and if you want to transport anything as a normal person it'd be..."
Rubbing the back of his neck for a moment he practically muttered out the following conclusion;
"A shipyard of some kind. Does Oolong City have any waterways nearby? A channel perhaps? Last I checked it's inland, but perhaps some of the channels lead out to see. Wouldn't want to take suspicious merchandise across the Western Lands border after all. I think if we head that way we'll quickly crack down on our guy. There just might be a lot more to this if I'm right. Not that it matters, just a matter of time commitment. I was just trying to make a meal out of this stuff- which is another bit of information. There's also an equivalent wheel of cheeses and meats, mushrooms, and vegetables. Rest of the world doesn't really mind the stuff, but maybe the Western Lands is too unstable to bear the pressure of someone of the rowdy background getting powered up like that. You can come along, but I think this step of the case is solved already."
With that, Bass would make his way towards the channel and in the end, find their culprit and their wheat. Was there more to this? Maybe, maybe not.
